Isaya 18

1Ole kwa nchi ya mvumo wa mabawa, kando ya mito ya Kushi, 2iwapelekayo wajumbe wake kwa njia ya bahari kwa mashua za mafunjo juu ya maji. Nendeni, wajumbe wepesi, kwa taifa la watu warefu wenye ngozi nyororo, kwa taifa linaloogopwa mbali na karibu, taifa gomvi lenye lugha ngeni, ambalo nchi yao imegawanywa kwa mito. 3Enyi mataifa yote ya ulimwengu, ninyi mnaoishi duniani wakati bendera itakapoinuliwa milimani, mtaiona, nayo tarumbeta itakapolia, mtaisikia. 4Hili ndilo Bwana aliloniambia: “Nitatulia kimya na kutazama kutoka maskani yangu, kama joto linalometameta katika mwanga wa jua, kama wingu la umande katika joto la wakati wa mavuno.” 5Kwa maana, kabla ya mavuno, wakati wa kuchanua ukishapita na maua yakawa zabibu zinazoiva, atayakata machipukizi kwa mundu wa kupogolea matawi, naye atakata na kuyaondoa matawi yaliyopanuka. 6Yote yataachwa kwa ajili ya ndege wawindao wa mlimani na wanyama pori, ndege watajilisha juu yake wakati wote wa kiangazi, nao wanyama pori wakati wote wa masika. 7Wakati huo matoleo yataletwa kwa Bwana Mwenye Nguvu Zote kutoka kwa taifa la watu warefu wenye ngozi nyororo, kutoka kwa taifa linaloogopwa mbali na karibu, kutoka taifa gomvi lenye lugha ngeni, ambalo nchi yao imegawanywa kwa mito, matoleo yataletwa katika Mlima Sayuni, mahali pa Jina la Bwana Mwenye Nguvu Zote.

1Ah, the land of the rustling of wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia; 2that sends ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of papyrus on the waters, saying, “Go, you swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth, to a people awesome from their beginning onward, a nation that measures out and treads down, whose land the rivers divide!” 3All you inhabitants of the world, and you dwellers on the earth, when a banner is lifted up on the mountains, look! When the trumpet is blown, listen! 4For Yahweh said to me, “I will be still, and I will see in my dwelling place, like clear heat in sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.” 5For before the harvest, when the blossom is over, and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and he will cut down and take away the spreading branches. 6They will be left together for the ravenous birds of the mountains, and for the animals of the earth. The ravenous birds will summer on them, and all the animals of the earth will winter on them. 7In that time, a present will be brought to Yahweh of Armies from a people tall and smooth, even from a people awesome from their beginning onward, a nation that measures out and treads down, whose land the rivers divide, to the place of the name of Yahweh of Armies, Mount Zion.

1Wee het land, dat schaduwachtig is aan de frontieren, dat aan de zijde der rivieren van Morenland is; 2Dat gezanten zendt over de zee, en in schepen van biezen op de wateren! Gaat henen, gij snelle boden! tot een volk, dat getrokken is en geplukt, tot een volk, dat vreselijk is van dat het was en voortaan; een volk van regel en regel, en van vertreding, welks land de rivieren beroven. 3Allen gij ingezetenen der wereld, en gij inwoners der aarde! als men de banier zal oprichten op de bergen, zult gijlieden het zien, en als de bazuin zal blazen, zult gijlieden het horen. 4Want alzo heeft de HEERE tot mij gezegd: Ik zal stil zijn, en zien in Mijn woning, als de glinsterende hitte op den regen, als een wolk des dauws in de hitte des oogstes; 5Want voor den oogst, als de botte volkomen is, en de onrijpe druif rijp wordt na den bloesem, zo zal Hij de ranken met snoeimessen afsnijden, en de takken wegdoen, en afkappen. 6Zij zullen te zamen gelaten worden den roofvogelen der bergen, en den dieren der aarde; en de roofvogelen zullen op hen overzomeren, en alle dieren der aarde zullen daarop overwinteren. 7Te dien tijd zal den HEERE der heirscharen een geschenk gebracht worden van het volk, dat getrokken is en geplukt, en van het volk, dat vreselijk is van dat het was en voortaan; een volk van regel en regel, en van vertreding, welks land de rivieren beroven; tot de plaats van den Naam des HEEREN der heirscharen, tot den berg Sion.
