1Waisraeli wote waliorodheshwa katika koo zilizoandikwa kwenye kitabu cha wafalme wa Israeli. Watu wa Yuda walichukuliwa mateka kwenda Babeli kwa sababu ya kukosa uaminifu kwa Mungu. 2Basi watu wa kwanza kurudi kukaa kwenye milki zao katika miji yao walikuwa baadhi ya Waisraeli, makuhani, Walawi na watumishi wa Hekalu. 3Wale waliotoka Yuda, Benyamini, Efraimu na Manase ambao waliishi Yerusalemu walikuwa: 4Uthai mwana wa Amihudi, mwana wa Omri, mwana wa Imri, mwana wa Bani, wa wana wa Peresi, mwana wa Yuda. 5Wazao wa Washiloni waliorudi ni: Asaya mzaliwa wa kwanza na wanawe. 6Kwa wana wa Zera: Yeueli. Watu wa Yuda jumla yao walikuwa watu 690. 7Kwa Benyamini walikuwa: Salu mwana wa Meshulamu, mwana wa Hodavia, mwana wa Hasenua; 8Ibneya mwana wa Yerohamu, Ela mwana wa Uzi, mwana wa Mikri; na Meshulamu mwana wa Shefatia, mwana wa Reueli, mwana wa Ibniya. 9Watu kutoka Benyamini kama walivyoorodheshwa katika koo zao jumla yao ni 956. Watu hawa wote walikuwa viongozi wa jamaa zao. 10Wa jamaa za makuhani walikuwa: Yedaya, Yehoyaribu na Yakini; 11Azaria mwana wa Hilkia, mwana wa Meshulamu, mwana wa Sadoki, mwana wa Merayothi, mwana wa Ahitubu aliyekuwa afisa kiongozi wa nyumba ya Mungu. 12Adaya mwana wa Yerohamu, mwana wa Pashuri, mwana wa Malkiya; Maasai, mwana wa Adieli, mwana wa Yahzera, mwana wa Meshulamu, mwana wa Meshilemithi, mwana wa Imeri. 13Makuhani waliokuwa viongozi wa jamaa zao walikuwa 1,760. Walikuwa watu wenye uwezo, waliowajibika kuhudumu katika nyumba ya Mungu. 14Jamaa za Walawi walikuwa: Shemaya, mwana wa Hashubu, mwana wa Azrikamu, mwana wa Hashabia, wa wana wa Merari. 15Bakbakari, Hereshi, Galali na Matania mwana wa Mika, mwana wa Zikri, mwana wa Asafu. 16Obadia mwana wa Shemaya, mwana wa Galali, mwana wa Yeduthuni. Berekia mwana wa Asa, mwana wa Elikana, ambao waliishi katika vijiji vya Wanetofathi. 17Mabawabu katika Hekalu la Bwana waliorudi walikuwa: Shalumu, Akubu, Talmoni, Ahimani na ndugu zao. Shalumu alikuwa mlinzi wao mkuu. 18Walikuwa wamewekwa katika lango la mfalme lililokuwa upande wa mashariki, mpaka wakati huu. Hawa walikuwa mabawabu wa kutoka kwenye kambi ya Walawi. 19Shalumu mwana wa Kore, mwana wa Ebiasafu, mwana wa Kora, pamoja na mabawabu wenzake kutoka jamaa yake ya Kora waliwajibika kulinda malango ya Hema, kama vile baba zao walivyokuwa wamewajibika kulinda ingilio la Maskani ya Bwana. 20Hapo zamani Finehasi mwana wa Eleazari alikuwa kiongozi wa mabawabu, naye Bwana alikuwa pamoja naye: 21Zekaria mwana wa Meshelemia alikuwa bawabu katika ingilio la Hema la Kukutania. 22Jumla ya waliochaguliwa kuwa mabawabu katika sakafu za kupuria nafaka walikuwa watu 212. Waliandikishwa kwa koo zao kwenye vijiji vyao. Mabawabu hawa waliwekwa katika nafasi zao za kuaminiwa na Daudi pamoja na mwonaji Samweli. 23Wao na wazao wao walikuwa viongozi wa kulinda malango ya nyumba ya Bwana, nyumba iliyoitwa Hema. 24Mabawabu walikuwa pande zote nne: mashariki, magharibi, kaskazini na kusini. 25Ndugu zao katika vijiji vyao walikuwa wakija mara kwa mara na kuwasaidia katika kazi zao kwa vipindi mbalimbali vya siku saba. 26Lakini mabawabu wanne wakuu, waliokuwa Walawi, walikabidhiwa wajibu kwa ajili ya vyumba na hazina katika nyumba ya Mungu. 27Walikesha mahali walipowekwa kuizunguka nyumba ya Mungu, kwa sababu iliwapasa kuilinda. Pia walitunza funguo kwa ajili ya kufungua mlango kila siku asubuhi. 28Baadhi yao walikuwa viongozi wa kutunza vifaa vilivyotumika katika huduma ndani ya Hekalu; walivihesabu kila vilipoingizwa ndani na kila vilipotolewa. 29Wengine walipangiwa kutunza mapambo na vifaa vingine vya patakatifu, pamoja na unga, divai, mafuta, uvumba na vikolezo. 30Lakini baadhi ya makuhani walifanya kazi ya kuchanganya vikolezo. 31Mlawi aliyeitwa Matithia, mwana mzaliwa wa kwanza wa Shalumu, wa ukoo wa Kora, alikabidhiwa wajibu kwa ajili ya kuoka mikate ya sadaka. 32Baadhi ya ndugu zao wa ukoo wa Kohathi walikuwa viongozi wa kuandaa mikate ya Wonyesho kwa ajili ya kila Sabato, mikate iliyokuwa inawekwa mezani. 33Wale waliokuwa waimbaji, viongozi wa jamaa za Walawi, waliishi katika vyumba vya Hekalu, nao hawakufanya shughuli nyingine yoyote kwa sababu iliwapasa kuwajibika kwa kazi hiyo usiku na mchana. 34Hawa wote walikuwa viongozi wa jamaa za Walawi, wakuu kama walivyoorodheshwa katika koo zao, nao waliishi Yerusalemu. 35Yeieli alikuwa baba yake Gibeoni naye aliishi huko Gibeoni. Mke wake aliitwa Maaka, 36mwanawe mzaliwa wa kwanza alikuwa Abdoni, akafuatiwa na Suri, Kishi, Baali, Neri, Nadabu, 37Gedori, Ahio, Zekaria na Miklothi. 38Miklothi akamzaa Shimeamu. Wao pia waliishi karibu na jamaa zao huko Yerusalemu. 39Neri akamzaa Kishi, Kishi akamzaa Sauli. Sauli akamzaa Yonathani, Malki-Shua, Abinadabu na Esh-Baali. 40Yonathani akamzaa Merib-Baali, naye Merib-Baali akamzaa Mika. 41Wana wa Mika walikuwa: Pithoni, Meleki, Tarea, na Ahazi. 42Ahazi akamzaa Yara, Yara akawazaa Alemethi, Azmawethi na Zimri, naye Zimri akamzaa Mosa. 43Mosa akamzaa Binea, Binea akamzaa Refaya, na mwanawe huyo ni Eleasa, na mwanawe huyo ni Aseli. 44Aseli alikuwa na wana sita, na haya ndiyo majina yao: Azrikamu, Bokeru, Ishmaeli, Shearia, Obadia na Hanani. 1So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel: and Judah was carried away captive to Babylon for their disobedience. 2Now the first inhabitants who lived in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinim. 3In Jerusalem lived of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin, and of the children of Ephraim and Manasseh: 4Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the children of Perez the son of Judah. 5Of the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn, and his sons. 6Of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel, and their brothers, six hundred ninety. 7Of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah, 8and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah; 9and their brothers, according to their generations, nine hundred fifty-six. All these men were heads of fathers’ households by their fathers’ houses. 10Of the priests: Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, Jachin, 11and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of God’s house; 12and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer; 13and their brothers, heads of their fathers’ houses, one thousand seven hundred sixty; very able men for the work of the service of God’s house. 14Of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; 15and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph, 16and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites. 17The porters: Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brothers (Shallum was the chief), 18who previously served in the king’s gate eastward: they were the porters for the camp of the children of Levi. 19Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brothers, of his father’s house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent: and their fathers had been over the camp of Yahweh, keepers of the entry. 20Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them in time past, and Yahweh was with him. 21Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the Tent of Meeting. 22All these who were chosen to be porters in the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer ordained in their office of trust. 23So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of Yahweh’s house, even the house of the tent, by wards. 24On the four sides were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south. 25Their brothers, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them: 26for the four chief porters, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the rooms and over the treasuries in God’s house. 27They lodged around God’s house, because that duty was on them; and to them pertained its opening morning by morning. 28Certain of them were in charge of the vessels of service; for by count were these brought in and by count were these taken out. 29Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices. 30Some of the sons of the priests prepared the confection of the spices. 31Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the office of trust over the things that were baked in pans. 32Some of their brothers, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the show bread, to prepare it every Sabbath. 33These are the singers, heads of fathers’ households of the Levites, who lived in the rooms and were free from other service; for they were employed in their work day and night. 34These were heads of fathers’ households of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men: these lived at Jerusalem. 35In Gibeon there lived the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife’s name was Maacah: 36and his firstborn son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, 37and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth. 38Mikloth became the father of Shimeam. They also lived with their brothers in Jerusalem, over against their brothers. 39Ner became the father of Kish; and Kish became the father of Saul; and Saul became the father of Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal. 40The son of Jonathan was Merib Baal; and Merib Baal became the father of Micah. 41The sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Tahrea, and Ahaz. 42Ahaz became the father of Jarah; and Jarah became the father of Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri became the father of Moza; 43and Moza became the father of Binea; and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son. 44Azel had six sons, whose names are these: Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan: these were the sons of Azel.

Dezen waren in het geslachtsregister gesteld naar hun dorpen. David en Samuel, de ziener, hadden hen in hun ambt bevestigd. 23Zij dan en hun zonen waren aan de poorten van het huis des HEEREN, in het huis der tent, aan de wachten. 24Die poortiers waren aan de vier winden, tegen het oosten, tegen het westen, tegen het noorden, en tegen het zuiden. 25En hun broeders waren op hun dorpen, inkomende ten zevenden dage van tijd tot tijd, om met hen te dienen; 26Want in dat ambt waren vier overste poortiers, die Levieten waren; en zij waren over de kameren en over de schatten van het huis Gods. 27En zij bleven over nacht rondom het huis Gods; want op hen was de wacht, en zij waren over de opening, en dat allen morgen. 28En enigen van hen waren over de vaten van den dienst; want bij getal droegen zij ze in, en bij getal droegen zij ze uit. 29Want uit dezelve zijn er besteld over de vaten, en over al de heilige vaten, en over de meelbloem, en wijn, en olie, en wierook, en specerij. 30En uit de zonen der priesteren waren de bereiders van het reukwerk der specerijen. 31En Mattithja uit de Levieten, dewelke was de eerstgeborene van Sallum, den Korahiet, was in het ambt over het werk, dat in pannen gekookt wordt. 32En uit de kinderen der Kahathieten, uit hun broederen, waren enigen over de broden der toerichting, om die alle sabbatten te bereiden. 33Uit dezen zijn ook de zangers, hoofden der vaderen onder de Levieten in de kameren, dienstvrij; want dag en nacht was het op hen, in dat werk te zijn. 34Dit zijn de hoofden der vaderen onder de Levieten, hoofden in hun geslachten; dezen woonden te Jeruzalem. 35Maar te Gibeon hadden gewoond Jeiel, de vader van Gibeon; de naam zijner zuster nu was Maacha. 36En Abdon was zijn eerstgeboren zoon, daarna Zur, en Kis, en Baal, en Ner, en Nadab. 37En Gedor, en Ahio, en Zacharja, en Mikloth. 38Mikloth nu gewon Simeam; dezen woonden ook te Jeruzalem, tegenover hun broederen, met hun broederen. 39En Ner gewon Kis, en Kis gewon Saul, en Saul gewon Jonathan, en Malchi-sua, en Abinadab, en Esbaal. 40En Jonathans zoon van Merib-baal, en Merib-baal gewon Micha. 41De kinderen van Micha nu waren Pithon, en Melech, en Thaerea. 42En Achaz gewon Jaera, en Jaera gewon Alemeth, en Azmaveth, en Zimri; en Zimri gewon Moza; 43En Moza gewon Bina; wiens zoon was Refaja; wiens zoon was Elasa; wiens zoon was Azel. 44Azel nu had zes zonen, en dit zijn hun namen: Azrikam, Bochru, en Ismael, en Searja, en Obadja, en Hanan; dezen zijn Azels zonen.
