1Wana wa Yuda walikuwa: Peresi, Hesroni, Karmi, Huri na Shobali. 2Reaya mwana wa Shobali akamzaa Yahathi, Yahathi akawazaa Ahumai na Lahadi. Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Wasorathi. 3Hawa ndio waliokuwa wana wa Etamu: Yezreeli, Ishma na Idbashi. Dada yao aliitwa Haselelponi. 4Penueli akamzaa Gedori, naye Ezeri akamzaa Husha. Hawa walikuwa wazao wa Huri, mzaliwa wa kwanza wa Efrathi, na baba yake Bethlehemu. 5Ashuri baba yake Tekoa alikuwa na wake wawili, Hela na Naara. 6Hawa walikuwa wazao wa Naara: Ahuzamu, Heferi, Temeni na Haahashtari. 7Wana wa Hela walikuwa: Serethi, Sohari, Ethnani, 8na Kosi ambaye aliwazaa Anubi, Sobeba na jamaa zote za Aharheli mwana wa Harumu. 9Yabesi aliheshimiwa kuliko ndugu zake. Tehina alikuwa baba wa Iri-Nahashi. Hawa ndio waliokuwa wazao wa Reka. 13Wana wa Kenazi walikuwa: Othnieli na Seraya. Wana wa Othnieli walikuwa: Hathathi na Meonathai. 14Meonathai akamzaa Ofra. Hawa walikuwa watoto wa Bithia binti Farao, ambaye Meredi alikuwa amemwoa. 19Wana wa mke wa Hodia aliyekuwa dada yake Nahamu walikuwa: baba yake Keila, Mgarmi na Eshtemoa, Mmaakathi. 20Wana wa Shimoni walikuwa: Amnoni, Rina, Ben-Hanani na Tiloni. Wazao wa Ishi walikuwa: Zohethi na Ben-Zohethi. 21Wana wa Shela, mwana wa Yuda, walikuwa: Eri baba yake Leka, Laada baba yake Maresha na jamaa za wafumaji nguo za kitani safi waliokuwa wakiishi huko Beth-Ashbea, 22Yokimu, watu walioishi Kozeba, Yoashi na Sarafi waliotawala huko Moabu na Yashubi-Lehemu. These were the sons of Naarah. 7The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan. 8Hakkoz became the father of Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum. 9Jabez was more honorable than his brothers: and his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.” 10Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it not be to my sorrow!” God granted him that which he requested. 11Chelub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. 12Eshton became the father of Beth Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These are the men of Recah. 13The sons of Kenaz: Othniel, and Seraiah. These were their cities to the reign of David. 32Their villages were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities; 33and all their villages that were around the same cities, to Baal. These were their habitations, and they have their genealogy. 34Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah, 35and Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel, 36and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah, 37and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah— 38these mentioned by name were princes in their families: and their fathers’ houses increased greatly. 39They went to the entrance of Gedor, even to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks. 40They found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for those who lived there before were of Ham. 41These written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents, and the Meunim who were found there, and destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place; because there was pasture there for their flocks. 42Some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi. 43They struck the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and have lived there to this day.

Dit zijn hun woningen en hun geslachtsrekening voor hen. 34Doch Mesobab, en Jamlech, en Josa, de zoon van Amazia, 35En Joel, en Jehu, de zoon van Jesibja, den zoon van Saraja, den zoon van Asiel, 36En Eljoenai, en Jaakoba, en Jesohaja, en Asaja, en Adiel, en Jesimeel, en Benaja, 37En Ziza, de zoon van Sifei, den zoon van Allon, den zoon van Jedaja, den zoon van Simri, den zoon van Semaja; 38Dezen kwamen tot namen, zijnde vorsten in hun huisgezinnen, en de huisgezinnen hunner vaderen braken uit in menigte. 39En zij gingen tot aan den ingang van Gedor tot het oosten des dals, om weide te zoeken voor hun schapen. 40En zij vonden vette en goede weide, en een land, wijd van begrip, en stil, en gerust; want die van Cham woonden daar tevoren. 41Dezen nu, die met namen beschreven zijn, kwamen in de dagen van Hizkia, den koning van Juda, en zij sloegen de tenten en woningen dergenen, die daar gevonden werden; en zij verbanden hen, tot op dezen dag; en zij woonden aan hun plaats, want daar was weide voor hun schapen. 42Ook gingen uit hen, te weten uit de kinderen van Simeon, vijfhonderd mannen, tot het gebergte van Seir; en Pelatja, en Nearja, en Refaja, en Izziel, de zonen van Isei, waren hun tot hoofden. 43En zij sloegen de overigen der ontkomenen onder de Amalekieten, en zij woonden aldaar tot op dezen dag.
