1Allora s’accostarono a Gesù dei Farisei e degli scribi venuti da Gerusalemme, e gli dissero: 2Perché i tuoi discepoli trasgrediscono la tradizione degli antichi? poiché non si lavano le mani quando prendono cibo. 3Ma egli rispose loro: E voi, perché trasgredite il comandamento di Dio a motivo della vostra tradizione? 4Dio, infatti, ha detto: Onora tuo padre e tua madre; e: Chi maledice padre o madre sia punito di morte; voi, invece, dite: 5Se uno dice a suo padre o a sua madre: Quello con cui potrei assisterti è offerta a Dio, 6egli non è più obbligato ad onorar suo padre o sua madre. E avete annullata la parola di Dio a cagion della vostra tradizione. 7Ipocriti, ben profetò Isaia di voi quando disse: 8Questo popolo mi onora con le labbra, ma il cuor loro e lontano da me. 9Ma invano mi rendono il loro culto, insegnando dottrine che son precetti d’uomini. 10E chiamata a sé la moltitudine, disse loro: Ascoltate e intendete: 11Non è quel che entra nella bocca che contamina l’uomo; ma quel che esce dalla bocca, ecco quel che contamina l’uomo. 12Allora i suoi discepoli, accostatisi, gli dissero: Sai tu che i Farisei, quand’hanno udito questo discorso, ne son rimasti scandalizzati? 13Ed egli rispose loro: Ogni pianta che il Padre mio celeste non ha piantata, sarà sradicata. 14Lasciateli; sono ciechi, guide di ciechi; or se un cieco guida un altro cieco, ambedue cadranno nella fossa. 15Pietro allora prese a dirgli: Spiegaci la parabola. 16E Gesù disse: Siete anche voi tuttora privi d’intendimento? 17Non capite voi che tutto quello che entra nella bocca va nel ventre ed è gittato fuori nella latrina? 18Ma quel che esce dalla bocca viene dal cuore, ed e quello che contamina l’uomo. 19Poiché dal cuore vengono pensieri malvagi, omicidi, adulteri, fornicazioni, furti, false testimonianze, diffamazioni. 20Queste son le cose che contaminano l’uomo; ma il mangiare con le mani non lavate non contamina l’uomo. 21E partitosi di là, Gesù si ritirò nelle parti di Tiro e di Sidone. 22Quand’ecco, una donna cananea di que’ luoghi venne fuori e si mise a gridare: Abbi pietà di me, Signore, figliuol di Davide; la mia figliuola è gravemente tormentata da un demonio. 23Ma egli non le rispose parola. E i suoi discepoli, accostatisi, lo pregavano dicendo: Licenziala, perché ci grida dietro. 24Ma egli rispose: Io non sono stato mandato che alle pecore perdute della casa d’Israele. 25Ella però venne e gli si prostrò dinanzi, dicendo: Signore, aiutami! 26Ma egli rispose: Non è bene prendere il pan de’ figliuoli per buttarlo ai cagnolini. 27Ma ella disse: Dici bene, Signore; eppure anche i cagnolini mangiano dei minuzzoli che cadono dalla tavola dei lor padroni. 28Allora Gesù le disse: O donna, grande è la tua fede; ti sia fatto come vuoi. E da quell’ora la sua figliuola fu guarita. 29Partitosi di là, Gesù venne presso al mar di Galilea; e, salito sul monte, si pose quivi a sedere. 30E gli si accostarono molte turbe che avean seco degli zoppi, dei ciechi, de’ muti, degli storpi e molti altri malati; li deposero a’ suoi piedi, e Gesù li guarì; 31talché la folla restò ammirata a veder che i muti parlavano, che gli storpi eran guariti, che gli zoppi camminavano, che i ciechi vedevano, e ne dette gloria all’Iddio d’Israele. 32E Gesù, chiamati a sé i suoi discepoli, disse: Io ho pietà di questa moltitudine; poiché già da tre giorni sta con me e non ha da mangiare; e non voglio rimandarli digiuni, che talora non vengano meno per via. 33E i discepoli gli dissero: Donde potremmo avere, in un luogo deserto, tanti pani da saziare così gran folla? 34E Gesù chiese loro: Quanti pani avete? Ed essi risposero: Sette e pochi pescetti. 35Allora egli ordinò alla folla di accomodarsi per terra. 36Poi prese i sette pani ed i pesci; e dopo aver rese grazie, li spezzò e diede ai discepoli, e i discepoli alle folle. 37E tutti mangiarono e furon saziati; e de’ pezzi avanzati si levaron sette panieri pieni. 38Or quelli che aveano mangiato erano quattromila persone, senza contare le donne e i fanciulli. 39E, licenziate le turbe, Gesù entrò nella barca e venne al paese di Magadan.
1Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying, 2“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.” 3He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,” 6he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition. 7You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, 8‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9And in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’” 10He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand. 11That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.” 12Then the disciples came, and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?” 13But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted. 14Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.” 15Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.” 16So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand? 17Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body? 18But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man. 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies. 20These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn’t defile the man.” 21Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!” 23But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.” 24But he answered, “I wasn’t sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.” 26But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” 27But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” 28Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour. 29Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there. 30Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them, 31so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, injured whole, lame walking, and blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel. 32Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.” 33The disciples said to him, “Where should we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?” 34Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.” 35He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground; 36and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes. 37They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over. 38Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. 39Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
1Toen kwamen tot Jezus enige Schriftgeleerden en Farizeen, die van Jeruzalem waren, zeggende: 2Waarom overtreden Uw discipelen de inzetting der ouden? Want zij wassen hun handen niet, wanneer zij brood zullen eten. 3Maar Hij, antwoordende, zeide tot hen: Waarom overtreedt ook gij het gebod Gods, door uw inzetting? 4Want God heeft geboden, zeggende: Eert uwen vader en moeder, en: Wie vader of moeder vloekt, die zal de dood sterven. 5Maar gij zegt: Zo wie tot vader of moeder zal zeggen: Het is een gave, zo wat u van mij zou kunnen ten nutte komen; en zijn vader of zijn moeder geenszins zal eren, die voldoet. 6En gij hebt alzo Gods gebod krachteloos gemaakt door uw inzetting. 7Gij geveinsden! Wel heeft Jesaja van u geprofeteerd, zeggende: 8Dit volk genaakt Mij met hun mond, en eert Mij met de lippen, maar hun hart houdt zich verre van Mij; 9Doch tevergeefs eren zij Mij, lerende leringen, die geboden van mensen zijn. 10En als Hij de schare tot Zich geroepen had, zeide Hij tot hen: Hoort en verstaat. 11Hetgeen ten monde ingaat, ontreinigt den mens niet; maar hetgeen ten monde uitgaat, dat ontreinigt den mens. 12Toen kwamen Zijn discipelen tot Hem, en zeiden tot Hem: Weet Gij wel, dat de Farizeen deze rede horende, geergerd zijn geweest? 13Maar Hij, antwoordende zeide: Alle plant, die Mijn hemelse Vader niet geplant heeft, zal uitgeroeid worden. 14Laat hen varen; zij zijn blinde leidslieden der blinden. Indien nu de blinde den blinde leidt, zo zullen zij beiden in de gracht vallen. 15En Petrus, antwoordende, zeide tot Hem: Verklaar ons deze gelijkenis. 16Maar Jezus zeide: Zijt ook gijlieden alsnog onwetende? 17Verstaat gij nog niet, dat al wat ten monde ingaat, in de buik komt, en in de heimelijkheid wordt uitgeworpen? 18Maar die dingen, die ten monde uitgaan, komen voort uit het hart, en dezelve ontreinigen den mens. 19Want uit het hart komen voort boze bedenkingen, doodslagen, overspelen, hoererijen, dieverijen, valse getuigenissen, lasteringen. 20Deze dingen zijn het, die den mens ontreinigen; maar het eten met ongewassen handen ontreinigt den mens niet. 21En Jezus van daar gaande, vertrok naar de delen van Tyrus en Sidon. 22En ziet, een Kananese vrouw, uit die landpalen komende, riep tot Hem, zeggende: Heere! Gij Zone Davids, ontferm U mijner! mijn dochter is deerlijk van den duivel bezeten. 23Doch Hij antwoordde haar niet een woord. En Zijn discipelen, tot Hem komende, baden Hem, zeggende: Laat haar van U; want zij roept ons na. 24Maar Hij, antwoordende, zeide: Ik ben niet gezonden, dan tot de verloren schapen van het huis Israels. 25En zij kwam en aanbad Hem, zeggende: Heere, help mij! 26Doch Hij antwoordde en zeide: Het is niet betamelijk het brood der kinderen te nemen, en den hondekens voor te werpen. 27En zij zeide: Ja, Heere! doch de hondekens eten ook van de brokjes die er vallen van de tafel hunner heren. 28Toen antwoordde Jezus, en zeide tot haar: O vrouw! groot is uw geloof; u geschiede, gelijk gij wilt. En haar dochter werd gezond van diezelfde ure. 29En Jezus, van daar vertrekkende, kwam aan de zee van Galilea, en klom op den berg, en zat daar neder. 30En vele scharen zijn tot Hem gekomen, hebbende bij zich kreupelen, blinden, stommen, lammen, en vele anderen, en wierpen ze voor de voeten van Jezus; en Hij genas dezelve. 31Alzo dat de scharen zich verwonderden, ziende de stommen sprekende, de lammen gezond, de kreupelen wandelende, en de blinden ziende; en zij verheerlijkten den God Israels. 32En Jezus, Zijn discipelen tot Zich geroepen hebbende, zeide: Ik word innerlijk met ontferming bewogen over de schare, omdat zij nu drie dagen bij Mij gebleven zijn, en hebben niet wat zij eten zouden; en Ik wil hen niet nuchteren van Mij laten, opdat zij op den weg niet bezwijken. 33En Zijn discipelen zeiden tot Hem: Van waar zullen wij zovele broden in de woestijn bekomen, dat wij zulk een grote schare zouden verzadigen? 34En Jezus zeide tot hen: Hoevele broden hebt gij? Zij zeiden: Zeven, en weinige visjes. 35En Hij gebood den scharen neder te zitten op de aarde. 36En Hij nam de zeven broden en de vissen, en als Hij gedankt had, brak Hij ze, en gaf ze Zijn discipelen; en de discipelen gaven ze aan de schare. 37En zij aten allen en werden verzadigd, en zij namen op, het overschot der brokken, zeven volle manden. 38En die daar gegeten hadden, waren vier duizend mannen, zonder de vrouwen en kinderen. 39En de scharen van Zich gelaten hebbende, ging Hij in het schip, en kwam in de landpalen van Magdala.
