1Quando dunque il Signore ebbe saputo che i Farisei aveano udito ch’egli faceva e battezzava più discepoli di Giovanni 2(quantunque non fosse Gesù che battezzava, ma i suoi discepoli), 3lasciò la Giudea e se n’andò di nuovo in Galilea. 4Or doveva passare per la Samaria. 5Giunse dunque a una città della Samaria, chiamata Sichar, vicina al podere che Giacobbe dette a Giuseppe, suo figliuolo; 6e quivi era la fonte di Giacobbe. Gesù dunque, stanco del cammino, stava così a sedere presso la fonte. Era circa l’ora sesta. 7Una donna samaritana venne ad attinger l’acqua. Gesù le disse: Dammi da bere. 8(Giacché i suoi discepoli erano andati in città a comprar da mangiare). 9Onde la donna samaritana gli disse: Come mai tu che sei giudeo chiedi da bere a me che sono una donna samaritana? Infatti i Giudei non hanno relazioni co’ Samaritani. 10Gesù rispose e le disse: Se tu conoscessi il dono di Dio e chi è che ti dice: Dammi da bere, tu stessa gliene avresti chiesto, ed egli t’avrebbe dato dell’acqua viva. 11La donna gli disse: Signore, tu non hai nulla per attingere, e il pozzo è profondo; donde hai dunque cotest’acqua viva? 12Sei tu più grande di Giacobbe nostro padre che ci dette questo pozzo e ne bevve egli stesso co’ suoi figliuoli e il suo bestiame? 13Gesù rispose e le disse: Chiunque beve di quest’acqua avrà sete di nuovo; 14ma chi beve dell’acqua che io gli darò, non avrà mai più sete; anzi, l’acqua che io gli darò, diventerà in lui una fonte d’acqua che scaturisce in vita eterna. 15La donna gli disse: Signore, dammi di cotest’acqua, affinché io non abbia più sete, e non venga più sin qua ad attingere. 16Gesù le disse: Va’ a chiamar tuo marito e vieni qua. 17La donna gli rispose: Non ho marito. E Gesù: Hai detto bene: Non ho marito; 18perché hai avuto cinque mariti; e quello che hai ora, non è tuo marito; in questo hai detto il vero. 19La donna gli disse: Signore, io vedo che tu sei un profeta. 20I nostri padri hanno adorato su questo monte, e voi dite che a Gerusalemme è il luogo dove bisogna adorare. 21Gesù le disse: Donna, credimi; l’ora viene che né su questo monte né a Gerusalemme adorerete il Padre. 22Voi adorate quel che non conoscete; noi adoriamo quel che conosciamo, perché la salvazione vien da’ Giudei. 23Ma l’ora viene, anzi è già venuta, che i veri adoratori adoreranno il Padre in ispirito e verità; poiché tali sono gli adoratori che il Padre richiede. 24Iddio è spirito; e quelli che l’adorano, bisogna che l’adorino in ispirito e verità. 25La donna gli disse: Io so che il Messia (ch’è chiamato Cristo) ha da venire; quando sarà venuto, ci annunzierà ogni cosa. 26Gesù le disse: Io che ti parlo, son desso. 27In quel mentre giunsero i suoi discepoli, e si maravigliarono ch’egli parlasse con una donna; ma pur nessuno gli chiese: Che cerchi? o: Perché discorri con lei? 28La donna lasciò dunque la sua secchia, se ne andò in città e disse alla gente: 29Venite a vedere un uomo che m’ha detto tutto quello che ho fatto; non sarebb’egli il Cristo? 30La gente uscì dalla città e veniva a lui. 31Intanto i discepoli lo pregavano, dicendo: Maestro, mangia. 32Ma egli disse loro: Io ho un cibo da mangiare che voi non sapete. 33Perciò i discepoli si dicevano l’uno all’altro: Forse qualcuno gli ha portato da mangiare? 34Gesù disse loro: Il mio cibo è di far la volontà di Colui che mi ha mandato, e di compiere l’opera sua. 35Non dite voi che ci sono ancora quattro mesi e poi vien la mietitura? Ecco, io vi dico: Levate gli occhi e mirate le campagne come già son bianche da mietere. 36Il mietitore riceve premio e raccoglie frutto per la vita eterna, affinché il seminatore ed il mietitore si rallegrino assieme. 37Poiché in questo è vero il detto: L’uno semina e l’altro miete. 38Io v’ho mandati a mieter quello intorno a cui non avete faticato; altri hanno faticato, e voi siete entrati nella lor fatica. 39Or molti de’ Samaritani di quella città credettero in lui a motivo della testimonianza resa da quella donna: Egli m’ha detto tutte le cose che ho fatte. 40Quando dunque i Samaritani furono venuti a lui, lo pregarono di trattenersi da loro; ed egli si trattenne quivi due giorni. 41E più assai credettero a motivo della sua parola; 42e dicevano alla donna: Non è più a motivo di quel che tu ci hai detto, che crediamo; perché abbiamo udito da noi, e sappiamo che questi è veramente il Salvator del mondo. 43Passati que’ due giorni, egli partì di là per andare in Galilea; 44poiché Gesù stesso aveva attestato che un profeta non è onorato nella sua propria patria. 45Quando dunque fu venuto in Galilea, fu accolto dai Galilei, perché avean vedute tutte le cose ch’egli avea fatte in Gerusalemme alla festa; poiché anch’essi erano andati alla festa. 46Gesù dunque venne di nuovo a Cana di Galilea, dove avea cambiato l’acqua in vino. E v’era un certo ufficial reale, il cui figliuolo era infermo a Capernaum. 47Come egli ebbe udito che Gesù era venuto dalla Giudea in Galilea, andò a lui e lo pregò che scendesse e guarisse il suo figliuolo, perché stava per morire. 48Perciò Gesù gli disse: Se non vedete segni e miracoli, voi non crederete. 49L’ufficial reale gli disse: Signore, scendi prima che il mio bambino muoia. 50Gesù gli disse: Va’, il tuo figliuolo vive. Quell’uomo credette alla parola che Gesù gli avea detta, e se ne andò. 51E come già stava scendendo, i suoi servitori gli vennero incontro e gli dissero: Il tuo figliuolo vive. 52Allora egli domandò loro a che ora avesse cominciato a star meglio; ed essi gli risposero: Ieri, all’ora settima, la febbre lo lasciò. 53Così il padre conobbe che ciò era avvenuto nell’ora che Gesù gli avea detto: Il tuo figliuolo vive; e credette lui con tutta la sua casa. 54Questo secondo miracolo fece di nuovo Gesù, tornando dalla Giudea in Galilea.
1Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John 2(although Jesus himself didn’t baptize, but his disciples), 3he left Judea, and departed into Galilee. 4He needed to pass through Samaria. 5So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son, Joseph. 6Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. 7A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” 8For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. 9The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) 10Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” 11The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. From where then have you that living water? 12Are you greater than our father, Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, as did his children, and his livestock?” 13Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, 14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” 15The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.” 16Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’ 18for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.” 19The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.” 21Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father. 22You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews. 23But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers. 24God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” 25The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah comes, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.” 26Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.” 27At this, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?” 28So the woman left her water pot, and went away into the city, and said to the people, 29“Come, see a man who told me everything that I did. Can this be the Christ?” 30They went out of the city, and were coming to him. 31In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” 32But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.” 33The disciples therefore said one to another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?” 34Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work. 35Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest?’ Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already. 36He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit to eternal life; that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’ 38I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.” 39From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I did.” 40So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days. 41Many more believed because of his word. 42They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.” 43After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee. 44For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country. 45So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast. 46Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48Jesus therefore said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe.” 49The nobleman said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” 50Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. 51As he was now going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!” 52So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.” 53So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house. 54This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
1Als dan de Heere verstond, dat de Farizeen gehoord hadden, dat Jezus meer discipelen maakte en doopte dan Johannes; 2(Hoewel Jezus zelf niet doopte, maar Zijn discipelen), 3Zo verliet Hij Judea, en ging wederom heen naar Galilea. 4En Hij moest door Samaria gaan. 5Hij kwam dan in een stad van Samaria, genaamd Sichar, nabij het stuk land, hetwelk Jakob zijn zoon Jozef gaf. 6En aldaar was de fontein Jakobs. Jezus dan, vermoeid zijnde van de reize, zat alzo neder nevens de fontein. Het was omtrent de zesde ure. 7Er kwam een vrouw uit Samaria om water te putten. Gij hebt niet om mede te putten, en de put is diep; van waar hebt Gij dan het levend water? 12Zijt Gij meerder dan onze vader Jakob, die ons den put gegeven heeft, en hijzelf heeft daaruit gedronken, en zijn kinderen en zijn vee? 13Jezus antwoordde, en zeide tot haar: Een ieder, die van dit water drinkt, zal wederom dorsten: 14Maar zo wie gedronken zal hebben van het water, dat Ik hem geven zal, dien zal in eeuwigheid niet dorsten; maar het water, dat Ik hem zal geven, zal in hem worden een fontein van water, springende tot in het eeuwige leven. 15De vrouw zeide tot Hem: Heere, geef mij dat water, opdat mij niet dorste, en ik hier niet moet komen, om te putten. 16Jezus zeide tot haar: Ga heen, roep uw man, en kom hier. 17De vrouw antwoordde en zeide: Ik heb geen man. Jezus zeide tot haar: Gij hebt wel gezegd: Ik heb geen man. 18Want gij hebt vijf mannen gehad, en dien gij nu hebt, is uw man niet; dat hebt gij met waarheid gezegd. 19De vrouw zeide tot Hem: Heere, ik zie, dat Gij een profeet zijt. 20Onze vaders hebben op deze berg aangebeden; en gijlieden zegt, dat te Jeruzalem de plaats is, waar men moet aanbidden. 21Jezus zeide tot haar: Vrouw, geloof Mij, de ure komt, wanneer gijlieden, noch op dezen berg, noch te Jeruzalem, den Vader zult aanbidden. 22Gijlieden aanbidt, wat gij niet weet; wij aanbidden, wat wij weten; want de zaligheid is uit de Joden. 23Maar de ure komt, en is nu, wanneer de ware aanbidders den Vader aanbidden zullen in geest en waarheid; want de Vader zoekt ook dezulken, die Hem alzo aanbidden. 24God is een Geest, en die Hem aanbidden, moeten Hem aanbidden in geest en waarheid. 25De vrouw zeide tot Hem: Ik weet, dat de Messias komt (Die genaamd wordt Christus); wanneer Die zal gekomen zijn, zo zal Hij ons alle dingen verkondigen. 26Jezus zeide tot haar: Ik ben het, Die met u spreek. 27En daarop kwamen Zijn discipelen en verwonderden zich, dat Hij met een vrouw sprak. Nochtans zeide niemand: Wat vraagt Gij, of: Wat spreekt Gij met haar? 28Zo verliet de vrouw dan haar watervat, en ging heen in de stad en zeide tot de lieden: 29Komt, ziet een Mens, Die mij gezegd heeft alles, wat ik gedaan heb; is Deze niet de Christus? 30Zij dan gingen uit de stad, en kwamen tot Hem. 31En ondertussen baden Hem de discipelen, zeggende: Rabbi, eet. 32Maar Hij zeide tot hen: Ik heb een spijs om te eten, die gij niet weet. 33Zo zeiden dan de discipelen tegen elkander: Heeft Hem iemand te eten gebracht? 34Jezus zeide tot hen: Mijn spijs is, dat Ik doe den wil Desgenen, Die Mij gezonden heeft, en Zijn werk volbrenge. 35Zegt gijlieden niet: Het zijn nog vier maanden, en dan komt de oogst? Ziet, Ik zeg u: Heft uw ogen op en aanschouwt de landen; want zij zijn alrede wit om te oogsten. 36En die maait, ontvangt loon, en vergadert vrucht ten eeuwigen leven; opdat zich te zamen verblijde, beide, die zaait en die maait. 37Want hierin is die spreuk waarachtig: Een ander is het, die zaait, en een ander, die maait. 38Ik heb u uitgezonden, om te maaien, hetgeen gij niet bearbeid hebt; anderen hebben het bearbeid, en gij zijt tot hun arbeid ingegaan. 39En velen der Samaritanen uit die stad geloofden in Hem, om het woord der vrouw, die getuigde: Hij heeft mij gezegd alles, wat ik gedaan heb. 40Als dan de Samaritanen tot Hem gekomen waren, baden zij Hem, dat Hij bij hen bleef; en Hij bleef aldaar twee dagen. 41En er geloofden er veel meer om Zijns woords wil; 42En zeiden tot de vrouw: Wij geloven niet meer om uws zeggens wil; want wij zelven hebben Hem gehoord, en weten, dat Deze waarlijk is de Christus, de Zaligmaker der wereld. 43En na de twee dagen ging Hij van daar en ging heen naar Galilea; 44Want Jezus heeft Zelf getuigd, dat een profeet in zijn eigen vaderland geen eer heeft. 45Als Hij dan in Galilea kwam, ontvingen Hem de Galileers, gezien hebbende al de dingen, die Hij te Jeruzalem op het feest gedaan had; want ook zij waren tot het feest gegaan. 46Zo kwam dan Jezus wederom te Kana in Galilea, waar Hij het water wijn gemaakt had. En er was een zeker koninklijk hoveling, wiens zoon krank was, te Kapernaum. 47Deze, gehoord hebbende, dat Jezus uit Judea in Galilea kwam, ging tot Hem, en bad Hem, dat Hij afkwame, en zijn zoon gezond maakte; want hij lag op zijn sterven. 48Jezus dan zeide tot hem: Tenzij dat gijlieden tekenen en wonderen ziet, zo zult gij niet geloven. 49De koninklijke hoveling zeide tot Hem: Heere, kom af, eer mijn kind sterft. 50Jezus zeide tot hem: Ga heen, uw zoon leeft. En de mens geloofde het woord, dat Jezus tot hem zeide, en ging heen. 51En als hij nu afging, kwamen hem zijn dienstknechten tegemoet, en boodschapten, zeggende: Uw kind leeft! 52Zo vraagde hij dan van hen de ure, in welke het beter met hem geworden was. En zij zeiden tot hem: Gisteren te zeven ure verliet hem de koorts. 53De vader bekende dan, dat het in dezelve ure was, in dewelke Jezus tot hem gezegd had: Uw zoon leeft. En hij geloofde zelf, en zijn gehele huis. 54Dit tweede teken heeft Jezus wederom gedaan, als Hij uit Judea in Galilea gekomen was.
