1Tre giorni dopo, si fecero delle nozze in Cana di Galilea, e c’era la madre di Gesù. 2E Gesù pure fu invitato co’ suoi discepoli alle nozze. 3E venuto a mancare il vino, la madre di Gesù gli disse: Non han più vino. 4E Gesù le disse: Che v’è fra me e te, o donna? L’ora mia non è ancora venuta. 5Sua madre disse ai servitori: Fate tutto quel che vi dirà. 6Or c’erano quivi sei pile di pietra, destinate alla purificazione de’ Giudei, le quali contenevano ciascuna due o tre misure. 7Gesù disse loro: Empite d’acqua le pile. Ed essi le empirono fino all’orlo. 8Poi disse loro: Ora attingete, e portatene al maestro di tavola. Ed essi gliene portarono. 9E quando il maestro di tavola ebbe assaggiata l’acqua ch’era diventata vino (or egli non sapea donde venisse, ma ben lo sapeano i servitori che aveano attinto l’acqua), chiamò lo sposo e gli disse: 10Ognuno serve prima il vin buono; e quando si è bevuto largamente, il men buono; tu, invece, hai serbato il vin buono fino ad ora. 11Gesù fece questo primo de’ suoi miracoli in Cana di Galilea, e manifestò la sua gloria; e i suoi discepoli credettero in lui. 12Dopo questo, scese a Capernaum, egli con sua madre, co’ suoi fratelli e i suoi discepoli; e stettero quivi non molti giorni. 13Or la Pasqua de’ Giudei era vicina, e Gesù salì a Gerusalemme. 14E trovò nel tempio quelli che vendevano buoi e pecore e colombi, e i cambiamonete seduti. 15E fatta una sferza di cordicelle, scacciò tutti fuori del tempio, pecore e buoi; e sparpagliò il danaro dei cambiamonete, e rovesciò le tavole; 16e a quelli che vendeano i colombi, disse: Portate via di qui queste cose; non fate della casa del Padre mio una casa di mercato. 17E i suoi discepoli si ricordarono che sta scritto: Lo zelo della tua casa mi consuma. 18I Giudei allora presero a dirgli: Qual segno ci mostri tu che fai queste cose? 19Gesù rispose loro: Disfate questo tempio, e in tre giorni lo farò risorgere. 20Allora i Giudei dissero: Quarantasei anni è durata la fabbrica di questo tempio e tu lo faresti risorgere in tre giorni? 21Ma egli parlava del tempio del suo corpo. 22Quando dunque fu risorto da’ morti, i suoi discepoli si ricordarono ch’egli avea detto questo; e credettero alla Scrittura e alla parola che Gesù avea detta. 23Mentr’egli era in Gerusalemme alla festa di Pasqua, molti credettero nel suo nome, vedendo i miracoli ch’egli faceva. 24Ma Gesù non si fidava di loro, perché conosceva tutti, 25e perché non avea bisogno della testimonianza d’alcuno sull’uomo, poiché egli stesso conosceva quello che era nell’uomo.
1The third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there. 2Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the marriage. 3When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine.” 4Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come.” 5His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.” 6Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jews’ way of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece. 7Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” They filled them up to the brim. 8He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast.” So they took it. 9When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and didn’t know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom, 10and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!” 11This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. 12After this, he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, his brothers, and his disciples; and they stayed there a few days. 13The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14He found in the temple those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, and the changers of money sitting. 15He made a whip of cords, and threw all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew their tables. 16To those who sold the doves, he said, “Take these things out of here! Don’t make my Father’s house a marketplace!” 17His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will eat me up.” 18The Jews therefore answered him, “What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?” 19Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20The Jews therefore said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple! Will you raise it up in three days?” 21But he spoke of the temple of his body. 22When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. 23Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name, observing his signs which he did. 24But Jesus didn’t trust himself to them, because he knew everyone, 25and because he didn’t need for anyone to testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
1En op den derden dag was er een bruiloft te Kana in Galilea; en de moeder van Jezus was aldaar. 2En Jezus was ook genood, en Zijn discipelen, tot de bruiloft. 3En als er wijn ontbrak, zeide de moeder van Jezus tot Hem: Zij hebben geen wijn. 4Jezus zeide tot haar: Vrouw, wat heb Ik met u te doen? Mijn ure is nog niet gekomen. 5Zijn moeder zeide tot de dienaars: Zo wat Hij ulieden zal zeggen, doet dat. 6En aldaar waren zes stenen watervaten gesteld, naar de reiniging der Joden, elk houdende twee of drie metreten. 7Jezus zeide tot hen: Vult de watervaten met water. En zij vulden ze tot boven toe. 8En Hij zeide tot hen: Schept nu, en draagt het tot den hofmeester; en zij droegen het. 9Als nu de hofmeester het water, dat wijn geworden was, geproefd had (en hij wist niet, van waar de wijn was; maar de dienaren, die het water geschept hadden, wisten het), zo riep de hofmeester den bruidegom. 10En zeide tot hem: Alle man zet eerst den goeden wijn op, en wanneer men wel gedronken heeft, alsdan den minderen; maar gij hebt den goeden wijn tot nu toe bewaard. 11Dit beginsel der tekenen heeft Jezus gedaan te Kana in Galilea, en heeft Zijn heerlijkheid geopenbaard; en Zijn discipelen geloofden in Hem. 12Daarna ging Hij af naar Kapernaum, Hij, en Zijn moeder, en Zijn broeders, en Zijn discipelen; en zij bleven aldaar niet vele dagen. 13En het pascha der Joden was nabij, en Jezus ging op naar Jeruzalem. 14En Hij vond in den tempel, die ossen, en schapen, en duiven verkochten, en de wisselaars daar zittende. 15En een gesel van touwtjes gemaakt hebbende, dreef Hij ze allen uit den tempel, ook de schapen en de ossen; en het geld der wisselaren stortte Hij uit, en keerde de tafelen om. 16En Hij zeide tot degenen, die de duiven verkochten: Neemt deze dingen van hier weg; maakt niet het huis Mijns Vaders tot een huis van koophandel. 17En Zijn discipelen werden indachtig, dat er geschreven is: De ijver van Uw huis heeft mij verslonden. 18De Joden antwoordden dan, en zeiden tot Hem: Wat teken toont Gij ons, dat Gij deze dingen doet? 19Jezus antwoordde en zeide tot hen: Breekt dezen tempel, en in drie dagen zal Ik denzelven oprichten. 20De Joden zeiden dan: Zes en veertig jaren is over dezen tempel gebouwd, en Gij, zult Gij dien in drie dagen oprichten? 21Maar Hij zeide dit van den tempel Zijns lichaams. 22Daarom, als Hij opgestaan was van de doden, werden Zijn discipelen gedachtig, dat Hij dit tot hen gezegd had, en zij geloofden de Schrift, en het woord, dat Jezus gesproken had. 23En als Hij te Jeruzalem was, op het pascha, in het feest, geloofden velen in Zijn Naam, ziende Zijn tekenen, die Hij deed. 24Maar Jezus Zelf betrouwde hun Zichzelven niet, omdat Hij hen allen kende, 25En omdat Hij niet van node had, dat iemand getuigen zou van den mens; want Hij Zelf wist, wat in den mens was.
