1Poi Ezechia inviò de’ messi a tutto Israele e a Giuda, e scrisse pure lettere ad Efraim ed a Manasse, perché venissero alla casa dell’Eterno a Gerusalemme, a celebrar la Pasqua in onore dell’Eterno, dell’Iddio d’Israele. 2Il re, i suoi capi e tutta la raunanza, in un consiglio tenuto a Gerusalemme, avevano deciso di celebrare la Pasqua il secondo mese; 3giacché non la potevan celebrare al tempo debito, perché i sacerdoti non s’erano santificati in numero sufficiente, e il popolo non s’era radunato in Gerusalemme. 4La cosa piacque al re e a tutta la raunanza; 5e stabilirono di proclamare un bando per tutto Israele, da Beer-Sceba fino a Dan, perché la gente venisse a Gerusalemme a celebrar la Pasqua in onore dell’Eterno, dell’Iddio d’Israele; poiché per l’addietro essa non era stata celebrata in modo generale, secondo ch’è prescritto. 6I corrieri dunque andarono con le lettere del re e dei suoi capi per tutto Israele e Giuda; e, conformemente all’ordine del re, dissero: "Figliuoli d’Israele, tornate all’Eterno, all’Iddio d’Abrahamo, d’Isacco e d’Israele, ond’egli torni al residuo che di voi è scampato dalle mani dei re d’Assiria. 7E non siate come i vostri padri e come i vostri fratelli, che sono stati infedeli all’Eterno, all’Iddio dei loro padri, in guisa ch’ei li ha dati in preda alla desolazione, come voi vedete. 8Ora non indurate le vostre cervici, come i padri vostri; date la mano all’Eterno, venite al suo santuario ch’egli ha santificato in perpetuo, e servite l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, onde l’ardente ira sua si ritiri da voi. 9Poiché, se tornate all’Eterno, i vostri fratelli e i vostri figliuoli troveranno pietà in quelli che li hanno menati schiavi, e ritorneranno in questo paese; giacché l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, è clemente e misericordioso, e non volgerà la faccia lungi da voi, se a lui tornate". 10Quei corrieri dunque passarono di città in città nel paese di Efraim e di Manasse, e fino a Zabulon; ma la gente si facea beffe di loro e li scherniva. 11Nondimeno, alcuni uomini di Ascer, di Manasse e di Zabulon si umiliarono, e vennero a Gerusalemme. 12Anche in Giuda la mano di Dio operò in guisa da dar loro un medesimo cuore per mettere ad effetto l’ordine del re e dei capi, secondo la parola del l’Eterno. 13Un gran popolo si riunì a Gerusalemme per celebrare la festa degli azzimi, il secondo mese: fu una raunanza immensa. 14Si levarono e tolsero via gli altari sui quali si offrivan sacrifizi a Gerusalemme, tolsero via tutti gli altari sui quali si offrivan profumi, e li gettarono nel torrente Kidron. 15Poi immolarono l’agnello pasquale, il quattordicesimo giorno del secondo mese. I sacerdoti e i Leviti, i quali, presi da vergogna, s’eran santificati, offrirono olocausti nella casa dell’Eterno; 16e occuparono il posto assegnato loro dalla legge di Mosè, uomo di Dio. I sacerdoti facevano l’aspersione del sangue, che ricevevano dalle mani de’ Leviti. 17Siccome ve n’erano molti, nella raunanza, che non s’erano santificati, i Leviti aveano l’incarico d’immolare gli agnelli pasquali, consacrandoli all’Eterno, per tutti quelli che non eran puri. 18Poiché una gran parte del popolo, molti d’Efraim, di Manasse, d’Issacar e di Zabulon non s’erano purificati, e mangiarono la Pasqua, senza conformarsi a quello ch’è scritto. Ma Ezechia pregò per loro, dicendo: 19"L’Eterno, che è buono, perdoni a chiunque ha disposto il proprio cuore alla ricerca di Dio, dell’Eterno, ch’è l’Iddio de’ suoi padri, anche senz’avere la purificazione richiesta dal santuario". 20E l’Eterno esaudì Ezechia, e perdonò al popolo. 21Così i figliuoli d’Israele che si trovarono a Gerusalemme, celebrarono la festa degli azzimi per sette giorni con grande allegrezza; e ogni giorno i Leviti e i sacerdoti celebravano l’Eterno con gli strumenti consacrati ad accompagnar le sue lodi. 22Ezechia parlò al cuore di tutti i Leviti che mostravano grande intelligenza nel servizio dell’Eterno; e si fecero i pasti della festa durante i sette giorni, offrendo sacrifizi di azioni di grazie, e lodando l’Eterno, l’Iddio dei loro padri. 23E tutta la raunanza deliberò di celebrare la festa per altri sette giorni; e la celebrarono con allegrezza durante questi sette giorni; 24poiché Ezechia, re di Giuda, avea donato alla raunanza mille giovenchi e settemila pecore, e i capi pure avean donato alla raunanza mille tori e diecimila pecore; e i sacerdoti in gran numero, s’erano santificati. 25Tutta la raunanza di Giuda, i sacerdoti, i Leviti, tutta la raunanza di quelli venuti da Israele e gli stranieri giunti dal paese d’Israele o stabiliti in Giuda, furono in festa. 26Così vi fu gran gioia in Gerusalemme; dal tempo di Salomone, figliuolo di Davide, re d’Israele, non v’era stato nulla di simile in Gerusalemme. 27Poi i sacerdoti Leviti si levarono e benedissero il popolo, e la loro voce fu udita, e la loro preghiera giunse fino al cielo, fino alla santa dimora dell’Eterno.
1Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to Yahweh’s house at Jerusalem, to keep the Passover to Yahweh, the God of Israel. 2For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the assembly in Jerusalem, to keep the Passover in the second month. 3For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem. 4The thing was right in the eyes of the king and of all the assembly. 5So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the Passover to Yahweh, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem: for they had not kept it in great numbers in such sort as it is written. 6So the couriers went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, “You children of Israel, turn again to Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may return to the remnant that have escaped of you out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. 7Don’t be like your fathers, and like your brothers, who trespassed against Yahweh, the God of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as you see. 8Now don’t be stiff-necked, as your fathers were; but yield yourselves to Yahweh, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever, and serve Yahweh your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you. 9For if you turn again to Yahweh, your brothers and your children shall find compassion before those who led them captive, and shall come again into this land: for Yahweh your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.” 10So the couriers passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even to Zebulun: but they ridiculed them, and mocked them. 11Nevertheless certain men of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem. 12Also on Judah came the hand of God to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by Yahweh’s word. 13Many people assembled at Jerusalem to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great assembly. 14They arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron. 15Then they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought burnt offerings into Yahweh’s house. 16They stood in their place after their order, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood which they received of the hand of the Levites. 17For there were many in the assembly who had not sanctified themselves: therefore the Levites were in charge of killing the Passovers for everyone who was not clean, to sanctify them to Yahweh. 18For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than it is written. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, “May the good Yahweh pardon everyone 19who sets his heart to seek God, Yahweh, the God of his fathers, even if they aren’t clean according to the purification of the sanctuary.” 20Yahweh listened to Hezekiah, and healed the people. 21The children of Israel who were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness; and the Levites and the priests praised Yahweh day by day, singing with loud instruments to Yahweh. 22Hezekiah spoke comfortably to all the Levites who had good understanding in the service of Yahweh. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace offerings, and making confession to Yahweh, the God of their fathers. 23The whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days; and they kept another seven days with gladness. 24For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly for offerings one thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves. 25All the assembly of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the assembly who came out of Israel, and the foreigners who came out of the land of Israel, and who lived in Judah, rejoiced. 26So there was great joy in Jerusalem; for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem. 27Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even to heaven.
1Daarna zond Jehizkia tot het ganse Israel en Juda, en schreef ook brieven tot Efraim en Manasse, dat zij zouden komen tot het huis des HEEREN te Jeruzalem, om den HEERE, den God Israels, pascha te houden. 2Want de koning had raad gehouden met zijn oversten en de ganse gemeente te Jeruzalem, om het pascha te houden, in de tweede maand. 3Want zij hadden het niet kunnen houden te dierzelfder tijd, omdat de priesteren zich niet genoeg geheiligd hadden, en het volk zich niet verzameld had te Jeruzalem. 4En deze zaak was recht in de ogen des konings, en in de ogen der ganse gemeente. 5Zo stelden zij zulks, dat men een stem door gans Israel, van Ber-seba tot Dan, zou laten doorgaan, opdat zij zouden komen om het pascha den HEERE, den God Israels, te houden in Jeruzalem; want zij hadden het in lang niet gehouden, gelijk het geschreven was. 6De lopers dan gingen henen met de brieven van de hand des konings en zijner vorsten, door gans Israel en Juda, en naar het gebod des konings, zeggende: Gij, kinderen Israels, bekeert u tot den HEERE, den God van Abraham, Izak en Israel, zo zal Hij Zich keren tot de ontkomenen, die ulieden overgebleven zijn uit de hand der koningen van Assyrie. 7En zijt niet als uw vaders en als uw broeders, die tegen den HEERE, den God hunner vaderen, overtreden hebben; waarom Hij hen tot verwoesting overgegeven heeft, gelijk als gij ziet. 8Verhardt nu ulieder nek niet, gelijk uw vaderen; geeft den HEERE de hand, en komt tot Zijn heiligdom, hetwelk Hij geheiligd heeft tot in eeuwigheid, en dient den HEERE, uw God; zo zal de hitte Zijns toorns van u afkeren. 9Want als gij u bekeert tot den HEERE, zullen uw broederen en uw kinderen barmhartigheid vinden voor het aangezicht dergenen, die hen gevangen hebben, zodat zij in dit land zullen wederkomen; want de HEERE, uw God, is genadig en barmhartig, en zal het aangezicht van u niet afwenden, zo gij u tot Hem bekeert. 10Zo gingen de lopers door, van stad tot stad, door het land van Efraim en Manasse, tot Zebulon toe; doch zij belachten hen, en bespotten hen. 11Evenwel verootmoedigden zich sommigen van Aser, en Manasse, en van Zebulon, en kwamen te Jeruzalem. 12Ook was de hand Gods in Juda, hun enerlei hart gevende, dat zij het gebod des konings en der vorsten deden, naar het woord des HEEREN. 13En te Jeruzalem verzamelde zich veel volks, om het feest der ongezuurde broden te houden, in de tweede maand, een zeer grote gemeente. 14En zij maakten zich op, en namen de altaren weg, die te Jeruzalem waren; daartoe namen zij alle rooktuig weg, hetwelk zij in de beek Kidron wierpen. 15Toen slachtten zij het pascha, op den veertienden der tweede maand; en de priesters en de Levieten waren beschaamd geworden, en hadden zich geheiligd, en hadden brandofferen gebracht in het huis des HEEREN. 16En zij stonden in hun stand, naar hun wijze, naar de wet van Mozes, den man Gods; de priesters sprengden het bloed, dat nemende uit de hand der Levieten. 17Want een menigte was in die gemeente, die zich niet geheiligd hadden; daarom waren de Levieten over de slachting der paaslammeren, voor iedereen, die niet rein was, om die den HEERE te heiligen. 18Want een menigte des volks, velen van Efraim en Manasse, Issaschar en Zebulon, hadden zich niet gereinigd, maar aten het pascha, niet gelijk geschreven is. Doch Jehizkia bad voor hen, zeggende: De HEERE, die goed is, make verzoening voor dien. 19Die zijn ganse hart gericht heeft, om God den HEERE, den God zijner vaderen, te zoeken, hoewel niet naar de reinigheid des heiligdoms. 20En de HEERE verhoorde Jehizkia, en heelde het volk. 21Zo hielden de kinderen Israels, die te Jeruzalem gevonden werden, het feest der ongezuurde broden, zeven dagen, met grote blijdschap. De Levieten nu en de priesteren prezen den HEERE, dag op dag, met sterk luidende instrumenten des HEEREN. 22En Jehizkia sprak naar het hart van alle Levieten, die verstand hadden in de goede kennis des HEEREN; en zij aten de offeranden des gezetten hoogtijds zeven dagen, offerende dankofferen, en lovende den HEERE, den God hunner vaderen. 23Als nu de ganse gemeente raad gehouden had, om andere zeven dagen te houden, hielden zij nog zeven dagen met blijdschap. 24Want Jehizkia, de koning van Juda, gaf de gemeente duizend varren en zeven duizend schapen; en de vorsten gaven de gemeente duizend varren en tien duizend schapen; de priesteren nu hadden zich in menigte geheiligd. 25En de ganse gemeente van Juda verblijdde zich, mitsgaders de priesteren en de Levieten, en de gehele gemeente dergenen, die uit Israel gekomen waren; ook de vreemdelingen, die uit het land van Israel gekomen waren, en die in Juda woonden. 26Zo was er grote blijdschap te Jeruzalem; want van de dagen van Salomo, den zoon van David, den koning van Israel, was desgelijks in Jeruzalem niet geweest. 27Toen stonden de Levietische priesteren op, en zegenden het volk; en hun stem werd gehoord; want hun gebed kwam tot Zijn heilige woning in den hemel.
