Yeremia 47

1Firman TUHAN yang datang kepada Nabi Yeremia mengenai orang-orang Filistin, sebelum Firaun menyerang Gaza. 2Beginilah firman TUHAN, “Lihat, air meluap dari utara, dan akan menjadi aliran air yang membanjiri, dan akan membanjiri negeri itu dan semua yang ada di dalamnya, kota dan orang-orang yang tinggal di dalamnya. Orang-orang akan berteriak, dan setiap penduduk negeri itu akan meratap 3karena suara derap kuku kuda-kudanya, karena keriuhan kereta-keretanya, dan karena gemuruh roda-rodanya, para ayah tidak menoleh kepada anak-anak mereka karena tangan mereka sudah lemas, 4karena telah tiba waktunya untuk menghancurkan seluruh orang Filistin, untuk melenyapkan dari Tirus dan Sidon setiap penolong yang tersisa. Sebab, TUHAN akan menghancurkan orang-orang Filistin, sisa-sisa dari daerah pantai Kaftor. 5Kegundulan telah menimpa Gaza, Askelon telah dihancurkan. Hai sisa-sisa orang dari lembah mereka, berapa lama kamu akan menyayat-nyayat dirimu sendiri? 6Oh, pedang TUHAN, berapa lama lagi kamu akan tenang? Masukkanlah dirimu sendiri ke dalam sarung pedangmu, beristirahatlah dan jadilah tenang. 7Bagaimana pedang itu dapat tenang sedangkan TUHAN telah memberikan perintah kepadanya? Terhadap orang-orang Askelon dan terhadap orang-orang sepanjang pantai. Di sana Dia telah menetapkannya.”

1Yahweh’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before that Pharaoh struck Gaza. 2Thus says Yahweh: Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and shall overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein; and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail. 3At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers don’t look back to their children for feebleness of hands; 4because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains: for Yahweh will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor. 5Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing, the remnant of their valley: how long will you cut yourself? 6You sword of Yahweh, how long will it be before you be quiet? Put up yourself into your scabbard; rest, and be still. 7How can you be quiet, since Yahweh has given you a command? Against Ashkelon, and against the seashore, there has he appointed it.

1Het woord des HEEREN, dat tot den profeet Jeremia geschiedde, tegen de Filistijnen; eer dat Farao Gaza sloeg. 2Zo zegt de HEERE: Ziet, wateren komen op van het noorden, en zullen worden tot een overlopende beek, en overlopen het land en de volheid van hetzelve, de stad en die daarin wonen; en de mensen zullen schreeuwen, en al de inwoners des lands zullen huilen; 3Vanwege het geluid van het geklater der hoeven zijner sterke paarden, vanwege het geraas zijner wagenen, en het bulderen zijner raderen; de vaders zien niet om naar de kinderen, vanwege de slappigheid der handen; 4Vanwege den dag, die er komt om alle Filistijnen te verstoren, om Tyrus en Sidon allen overgeblevenen helper af te snijden; want de HEERE zal de Filistijnen, het overblijfsel des eilands van Kafthor, verstoren. 5Kaalheid is op Gaza gekomen; Askelon is uitgeroeid, met het overblijfsel huns dals; hoe lang zult gij uzelven insnijdingen maken? 6O wee, gij zwaard des HEEREN! Hoe lang zult gij niet stil houden? Vaar in uw schede, rust en wees stil! 7Hoe zoudt gij stil houden? De HEERE heeft toch aan het zwaard bevel gegeven; tegen Askelon en tegen de zeehaven, aldaar heeft Hij het besteld.
