1Y ACONTECIÓ en Iconio, que entrados juntamente en la sinagoga de los Judíos, hablaron de tal manera, que creyó una grande multitud de Judíos, y asimismo de Griegos. 2Mas los Judíos que fueron incrédulos, incitaron y corrompieron los ánimos de los Gentiles contra los hermanos. 3Con todo eso se detuvieron allí mucho tiempo, confiados en el Señor, el cual daba testimonio á la palabra de su gracia, dando que señales y milagros fuesen hechos por las manos de ellos. 4Mas el vulgo de la ciudad estaba dividido; y unos eran con los Judíos, y otros con los apóstoles. 5Y haciendo ímpetu los Judíos y los Gentiles juntamente con sus príncipes, para afrentarlos y apedrearlos, 6Habiéndolo entendido, huyeron á Listra y Derbe, ciudades de Licaonia, y por toda la tierra alrededor. 7Y allí predicaban el evangelio. 8Y un hombre de Listra, impotente de los pies, estaba sentado, cojo desde el vientre de su madre, que jamás había andado. 9Este oyó hablar á Pablo; el cual, como puso los ojos en él, y vió que tenía fe para ser sano, 10Dijo á gran voz: Levántate derecho sobre tus pies. Y saltó, y anduvo. 11Entonces las gentes, visto lo que Pablo había hecho, alzaron la voz, diciendo en lengua licaónica: Dioses semejantes á hombres han descendido á nosotros. 12Y á Bernabé llamaban Júpiter, y á Pablo, Mercurio, porque era el que llevaba la palabra. 13Y el sacerdote de Júpiter, que estaba delante de la ciudad de ellos, trayendo toros y guirnaldas delante de las puertas, quería con el pueblo sacrificar. 14Y como lo oyeron los apóstoles Bernabé y Pablo, rotas sus ropas, se lanzaron al gentío, dando voces, 15Y diciendo: Varones, ¿por qué hacéis esto? Nosotros también somos hombres semejantes á vosotros, que os anunciamos que de estas vanidades os convirtáis al Dios vivo, que hizo el cielo y la tierra, y la mar, y todo lo que está en ellos: 16El cual en las edades pasadas ha dejado á todas las gentes andar en sus caminos; 17Si bien no se dejó á sí mismo sin testimonio, haciendo bien, dándonos lluvias del cielo y tiempos fructíferos, hinchiendo de mantenimiento y de alegría nuestros corazones. 18Y diciendo estas cosas, apenas apaciguaron el pueblo, para que no les ofreciesen sacrificio. 19Entonces sobrevinieron unos Judíos de Antioquía y de Iconio, que persuadieron á la multitud, y habiendo apedreado á Pablo, le sacaron fuera de la ciudad, pensando que estaba muerto. 20Mas rodeándole los discípulos, se levantó y entró en la ciudad; y un día después, partió con Bernabé á Derbe. 21Y como hubieron anunciado el evangelio á aquella ciudad, y enseñado á muchos, volvieron á Listra, y á Iconio, y á Antioquía, 22Confirmando los ánimos de los discípulos, exhortándoles á que permaneciesen en la fe, y que es menester que por muchas tribulaciones entremos en el reino de Dios. 23Y habiéndoles constituído ancianos en cada una de las iglesias, y habiendo orado con ayunos, los encomendaron al Señor en el cual habían creído. 24Y pasando por Pisidia vinieron á Pamphylia. 25Y habiendo predicado la palabra en Perge, descendieron á Atalia; 26Y de allí navegaron á Antioquía, donde habían sido encomendados á la gracia de Dios para la obra que habían acabado. 27Y habiendo llegado, y reunido la iglesia, relataron cuán grandes cosas había Dios hecho con ellos, y cómo había abierto á los Gentiles la puerta de la fe. 28Y se quedaron allí mucho tiempo con los discípulos.
1In Iconium, they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed. 2But the disbelieving Jews stirred up and embittered the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers. 3Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who testified to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands. 4But the multitude of the city was divided. Part sided with the Jews, and part with the apostles. 5When some of both the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers, made a violent attempt to mistreat and stone them, 6they became aware of it, and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region. 7There they preached the Good News. 8At Lystra a certain man sat, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked. 9He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole, 10said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” He leaped up and walked. 11When the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the language of Lycaonia, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” 12They called Barnabas “Jupiter”, and Paul “Mercury”, because he was the chief speaker. 13The priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have made a sacrifice along with the multitudes. 14But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they tore their clothes, and sprang into the multitude, crying out, 15“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them; 16who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways. 17Yet he didn’t leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” 18Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the multitudes from making a sacrifice to them. 19But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead. 20But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe. 21When they had preached the Good News to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, 22confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into the Kingdom of God. 23When they had appointed elders for them in every assembly, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed. 24They passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia. 25When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia. 26From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled. 27When they had arrived, and had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations. 28They stayed there with the disciples for a long time.
1En het geschiedde te Ikonium, dat zij te zamen gingen in de synagoge der Joden, en alzo spraken, dat een grote menigte, beiden van Joden en Grieken, geloofde. 2Maar de Joden, die ongehoorzaam waren, verwekten en verbitterden de zielen der heidenen tegen de broeders. 3Zij verkeerden dan aldaar een langen tijd, vrijmoediglijk sprekende in den Heere, Die getuigenis gaf aan het Woord Zijner genade, en gaf, dat tekenen en wonderen geschiedden door hun handen. 4En de menigte der stad werd verdeeld, en sommigen waren met de Joden, en sommigen met de apostelen. 5En als er een oploop geschiedde, beiden van heidenen en van Joden, met hun oversten, om hun smaadheid aan te doen, en hen te stenigen, 6Zijn zij, alles overlegd hebbende, gevlucht naar de steden van Lykaonie, namelijk Lystre en Derbe, en het omliggende land; 7En verkondigden aldaar het Evangelie. 8En een zeker man, te Lystre, zat onmachtig aan de voeten, kreupel zijnde van zijner moeders lijf, die nooit had gewandeld. 9Deze hoorde Paulus spreken; welke de ogen op hem houdende, en ziende, dat hij geloof had om gezond te worden, 10Zeide met grote stem: Sta recht op uw voeten! En hij sprong op en wandelde. 11En de scharen, ziende, hetgeen Paulus gedaan had, verhieven hun stemmen, en zeiden in het Lycaonisch: De goden zijn den mensen gelijk geworden, en tot ons nedergekomen. 12En zij noemden Barnabas Jupiter, en Paulus Mercurius, omdat hij het woord voerde. 13En de priester van Jupiter, die voor hun stad was, als hij ossen en kransen aan de voorpoorten gebracht had, wilde hij offeren met de scharen. 14Maar de apostelen, Barnabas en Paulus, dat horende, scheurden hun klederen, en sprongen onder de schare, roepende, 15En zeggende: Mannen, waarom doet gij deze dingen? Wij zijn ook mensen van gelijke bewegingen als gij, en verkondigen ulieden, dat gij u zoudt van deze ijdele dingen bekeren tot den levenden God, Die gemaakt heeft den hemel, en de aarde, en de zee, en al hetgeen in dezelve is; 16Welke in de verledene tijden al de heidenen heeft laten wandelen in hun wegen; 17Hoewel Hij nochtans Zichzelven niet onbetuigd gelaten heeft, goed doende van den hemel, ons regen en vruchtbare tijden gevende, vervullende onze harten met spijs en vrolijkheid. 18En dit zeggende, wederhielden zij nauwelijks de scharen, dat zij hun niet offerden. 19Maar daarover kwamen Joden van Antiochie en Ikonium, en overreedden de scharen, en stenigden Paulus, en sleepten hem buiten de stad, menende, dat hij dood was. 20Doch als hem de discipelen omringd hadden, stond hij op, en kwam in de stad; en des anderen daags ging hij met Barnabas uit naar Derbe. 21En als zij derzelve stad het Evangelie verkondigd en vele discipelen gemaakt hadden, keerden zij weder naar Lystre, en Ikonium, en Antiochie; 22Versterkende de zielen der discipelen, en vermanende, dat zij zouden blijven in het geloof, en dat wij door vele verdrukkingen moeten ingaan in het Koninkrijk Gods. 23En als zij in elke Gemeente, met opsteken der handen, ouderlingen verkoren hadden, gebeden hebbende met vasten, bevalen zij hen den Heere, in Welken zij geloofd hadden. 24En Pisidie doorgereisd hebbende, kwamen zij in Pamfylie. 25En als zij te Perge het Woord gesproken hadden, kwamen zij af naar Attalie. 26En van daar scheepten zij af naar Antiochie, van waar zij der genade Gods bevolen waren geweest tot het werk, dat zij volbracht hadden. 27En daar gekomen zijnde, en de Gemeente vergaderd hebbende, verhaalden zij, wat grote dingen God met hen gedaan had, en dat Hij den heidenen de deur des geloofs geopend had. 28En zij verkeerden aldaar geen kleinen tijd met de discipelen.
