1Δώδεκα ετών ηλικίας ήτο ο Μανασσής ότε εβασίλευσε, και εβασίλευσε πεντήκοντα πέντε έτη εν Ιερουσαλήμ. 2Και έπραξε πονηρά ενώπιον του Κυρίου, κατά τα βδελύγματα των εθνών, τα οποία εξεδίωξεν ο Κύριος απ' έμπροσθεν των υιών Ισραήλ· 3και ανωκοδόμησε τους υψηλούς τόπους, τους οποίους Εζεκίας ο πατήρ αυτού κατέστρεψε, και ανήγειρε θυσιαστήρια εις τους Βααλείμ, και έκαμεν άλση και προσεκύνησε πάσαν την στρατιάν του ουρανού και ελάτρευσεν αυτά. 4Και ωκοδόμησε θυσιαστήρια εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου, περί του οποίου ο Κύριος είπεν, Εν Ιερουσαλήμ θέλει είσθαι το όνομά μου εις τον αιώνα. 5Και ωκοδόμησε θυσιαστήρια εις πάσαν την στρατιάν του ουρανού εντός των δύο αυλών του οίκου του Κυρίου. 6Και αυτός διεβίβασε τους υιούς αυτού διά του πυρός εν τη κοιλάδι του υιού του Εννόμ· και προεμάντευε καιρούς και έκαμνεν οιωνισμούς και μαγείας και εσύστησεν ανταποκριτάς δαιμονίων και επαοιδούς· πολλά πονηρά έπραξεν ενώπιον του Κυρίου, διά να παροργίση αυτόν. 7Και έστησε το γλυπτόν, την εικόνα την οποίαν έκαμεν, εν τω οίκω του Θεού, περί του οποίου ο Θεός είπε προς τον Δαβίδ και προς τον Σολομώντα τον υιόν αυτού, Εν τω οίκω τούτω και εν Ιερουσαλήμ, την οποίαν εξέλεξα από πασών των φυλών του Ισραήλ, θέλω θέσει το όνομά μου εις τον αιώνα· 8και δεν θέλω μετασαλεύσει τον πόδα του Ισραήλ από της γης, την οποίαν παρέδωκα εις τους πατέρας σας· εάν μόνον προσέξωσι να κάμνωσι πάντα όσα προσέταξα εις αυτούς, κατά πάντα τον νόμον και τα διατάγματα και τας κρίσεις τας δοθείσας διά του Μωϋσέως. 9Και επλάνησεν ο Μανασσής τον Ιούδαν και τους κατοίκους της Ιερουσαλήμ, ώστε να πράττωσι πονηρότερα παρά τα έθνη, τα οποία ο Κύριος ηφάνισεν απ' έμπροσθεν των υιών Ισραήλ. 10Και ελάλησε Κύριος προς τον Μανασσήν και προς τον λαόν αυτού· πλην δεν έδωκαν ακρόασιν. 11Διά τούτο έφερε κατ' αυτών ο Κύριος τους άρχοντας του στρατεύματος του βασιλέως της Ασσυρίας, και επίασαν τον Μανασσήν μεταξύ των θάμνων και δέσαντες αυτόν με αλύσεις, έφεραν αυτόν εις Βαβυλώνα. 12Και ενώ ήτο εν θλίψει, ικέτευσε Κύριον τον Θεόν αυτού και εταπεινώθη σφόδρα ενώπιον του Θεού των πατέρων αυτού, 13και προσηυχήθη εις αυτόν· τότε ηλέησεν αυτόν και επήκουσε της δεήσεως αυτού και επανέφερεν αυτόν εις Ιερουσαλήμ, εις το βασίλειον αυτού. Τότε εγνώρισεν ο Μανασσής έτι ο Κύριος αυτός είναι ο Θεός. 14Μετά δε ταύτα ωκοδόμησε τείχος έξω της πόλεως Δαβίδ, προς δυσμάς του Γιών, εν τη κοιλάδι, έως της εισόδου της πύλης της ιχθυϊκής, και περιεκύκλωσε το Οφήλ και ύψωσεν αυτό εις μέγα ύψος, και έβαλε πολεμάρχους εν πάσαις ταις ωχυρωμέναις πόλεσι του Ιούδα. 15Και αφήρεσε τους ξένους θεούς και την εικόνα από του οίκου του Κυρίου και πάντα τα θυσιαστήρια, τα οποία ωκοδόμησεν εν τω όρει του οίκου του Κυρίου και εν Ιερουσαλήμ· και έρριψεν αυτά έξω της πόλεως. 16Και ανώρθωσε το θυσιαστήριον του Κυρίου και εθυσίασεν επ' αυτού θυσίας ειρηνικάς και ευχαριστηρίους, και προσέταξε τον Ιούδαν να λατρεύη Κύριον τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ. 17Ο λαός όμως εθυσίαζεν έτι επί τους υψηλούς τόπους, πλην μόνον εις Κύριον τον Θεόν αυτών. 18Αι δε λοιπαί πράξεις του Μανασσή και η προσευχή αυτού η προς τον Θεόν αυτού και οι λόγοι των βλεπόντων, οίτινες ελάλησαν προς αυτόν εν ονόματι Κυρίου του Θεού Ισραήλ, ιδού, είναι γεγραμμέναι εν τοις χρονικοίς των βασιλέων του Ισραήλ. 19Και η προσευχή αυτού, και πως εισηκούσθη, και πάσαι αι αμαρτίαι αυτού και η αποστασία αυτού και τα μέρη, όπου ωκοδόμησεν υψηλούς τόπους και έστησε τα άλση και τα γλυπτά, πριν ταπεινωθή, ιδού, είναι γεγραμμένα εν τοις λόγοις των βλεπόντων. 20Και εκοιμήθη ο Μανασσής μετά των πατέρων αυτού, και έθαψαν αυτόν εν τω οίκω αυτού· εβασίλευσε δε αντ' αυτού Αμών ο υιός αυτού. 21Εικοσιδύο ετών ηλικίας ήτο ο Αμών ότε εβασίλευσε, και εβασίλευσε δύο έτη εν Ιερουσαλήμ. 22Και έπραξε πονηρά ενώπιον του Κυρίου, καθώς έπραξε Μανασσής ο πατήρ αυτού· και εθυσίαζεν ο Αμών εις πάντα τα γλυπτά, τα οποία Μανασσής ο πατήρ αυτού έκαμε, και ελάτρευεν αυτά· 23και δεν εταπεινώθη ενώπιον του Κυρίου, καθώς εταπεινώθη Μανασσής ο πατήρ αυτού· αλλ' αυτός ο Αμών ηνόμησε μάλλον και μάλλον. 24Και συνώμοσαν οι δούλοι αυτού κατ' αυτού και εθανάτωσαν αυτόν εν τω οίκω αυτού. 25Ο δε λαός της γης εθανάτωσε πάντας τους συνομόσαντας κατά του βασιλέως Αμών· και έκαμεν ο λαός της γης βασιλέα αντ' αυτού Ιωσίαν τον υιόν αυτού.
1Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. 2He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, after the abominations of the nations whom Yahweh cast out before the children of Israel. 3For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; and he reared up altars for the Baals, and made Asheroth, and worshiped all the army of the sky, and served them. 4He built altars in Yahweh’s house, of which Yahweh said, “My name shall be in Jerusalem forever.” 5He built altars for all the army of the sky in the two courts of Yahweh’s house. 6He also made his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom; and he practiced sorcery, and used enchantments, and practiced sorcery, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits, and with wizards: he worked much evil in the sight of Yahweh, to provoke him to anger. 7He set the engraved image of the idol, which he had made, in God’s house, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name forever: 8neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from off the land which I have appointed for your fathers, if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, even all the law and the statutes and the ordinances given by Moses.” 9Manasseh seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that they did more evil than the nations whom Yahweh destroyed before the children of Israel did. 10Yahweh spoke to Manasseh, and to his people; but they gave no heed. 11Therefore Yahweh brought on them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh in chains, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. 12When he was in distress, he begged Yahweh his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. 13He prayed to him; and he was entreated by him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that Yahweh was God. 14Now after this he built an outer wall to the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance at the fish gate; and he encircled Ophel with it, and raised it up to a very great height: and he put valiant captains in all the fortified cities of Judah. 15He took away the foreign gods, and the idol out of Yahweh’s house, and all the altars that he had built in the mountain of Yahweh’s house, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city. 16He built up the altar of Yahweh, and offered sacrifices of peace offerings and of thanksgiving on it, and commanded Judah to serve Yahweh, the God of Israel. 17Nevertheless the people sacrificed still in the high places, but only to Yahweh their God. 18Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel, behold, they are written among the acts of the kings of Israel. 19His prayer also, and how God was entreated of him, and all his sin and his trespass, and the places in which he built high places, and set up the Asherah poles and the engraved images, before he humbled himself: behold, they are written in the history of Hozai. 20So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his place. 21Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. 22He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, as did Manasseh his father; and Amon sacrificed to all the engraved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them. 23He didn’t humble himself before Yahweh, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but this same Amon trespassed more and more. 24His servants conspired against him, and put him to death in his own house. 25But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.
