1Ο Εζεκίας εβασίλευσεν ηλικίας εικοσιπέντε ετών, και εβασίλευσεν εικοσιεννέα έτη εν Ιερουσαλήμ· το δε όνομα της μητρός αυτού ήτο Αβιά, θυγάτηρ του Ζαχαρίου. 2Και έπραξε το ευθές ενώπιον Κυρίου, κατά πάντα όσα έπραξε Δαβίδ ο πατήρ αυτού. 3Ούτος εν τω πρώτω έτει της βασιλείας αυτού, τον πρώτον μήνα, ήνοιξε τας θύρας του οίκου του Κυρίου και επεσκεύασεν αυτάς. 4Και εισήγαγε τους ιερείς και τους Λευΐτας, και συνήγαγεν αυτούς εις την ανατολικήν πλατείαν, 5και είπε προς αυτούς, Ακούσατέ μου, Λευΐται· Αγιάσθητε τώρα, και αγιάσατε τον ναόν Κυρίου του Θεού των πατέρων σας και εκβάλετε την ακαθαρσίαν εκ του αγίου τόπου. 6Διότι οι πατέρες ημών παρηνόμησαν και έπραξαν πονηρά ενώπιον Κυρίου του Θεού ημών και εγκατέλιπον αυτόν, και απέστρεψαν τα πρόσωπα αυτών από του κατοικητηρίου του Κυρίου και έστρεψαν τα νώτα· 7και έκλεισαν τας θύρας του προνάου και έσβεσαν τους λύχνους και θυμίαμα δεν εθυμίαζον και ολοκαυτώματα δεν προσέφερον εις τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ εν τω αγίω τόπω. 8Διά τούτο η οργή του Κυρίου ήλθεν επί τον Ιούδαν και την Ιερουσαλήμ, και παρέδωκεν αυτούς εις διασποράν, εις έκστασιν και εις συριγμόν, καθώς βλέπετε με τους οφθαλμούς σας. 9Διότι ιδού, οι πατέρες ημών έπεσον διά μαχαίρας· και οι υιοί ημών και αι θυγατέρες ημών και αι γυναίκες ημών είναι διά τούτο εις αιχμαλωσίαν. 10Τώρα λοιπόν έχω εν τη καρδία μου να κάμω διαθήκην προς τον Κύριον τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ, διά να αποστρέψη την οργήν του θυμού αυτού αφ' ημών. 11Τέκνα μου, μη πλανάσθε τώρα· διότι ο Κύριος σας εξέλεξε διά να παρίστασθε ενώπιον αυτού, να υπηρετήτε αυτόν και να ήσθε λειτουργοί αυτού και να θυμιάζητε. 12Τότε εσηκώθησαν οι Λευΐται, Μαάθ ο υιός του Αμασαΐ και Ιωήλ ο υιός του Αζαρίου, εκ των υιών των Κααθιτών· εκ δε των υιών του Μεραρί, Κείς ο υιός του Αβδί και Αζαρίας ο υιός του Ιαλελεήλ· και εκ των Γηρσωνιτών, Ιωάχ ο υιός του Ζιμμά και Εδέν ο υιός του Ιωάχ· 13και εκ των υιών του Ελισαφάν, Σιμρί και Ιεϊήλ· και εκ των υιών του Ασάφ, Ζαχαρίας και Ματθανίας· 14και εκ των υιών του Αιμάν, Ιεχιήλ και Σιμεΐ· και εκ των υιών του Ιεδουθούν, Σεμαΐας και Οζιήλ. 15Και συνήγαγον τους αδελφούς αυτών και ηγιάσθησαν και ήλθον, ως προσέταξεν ο βασιλεύς διά του λόγου του Κυρίου, να καθαρίσωσι τον οίκον του Κυρίου. 16Και εισήλθον οι ιερείς εις το ενδότερον του οίκου του Κυρίου, διά να καθαρίσωσιν αυτόν· και εξέβαλον πάσαν την ακαθαρσίαν την ευρεθείσαν εν τω ναώ του Κυρίου, εν τη αυλή του οίκου του Κυρίου· οι δε Λευΐται λαβόντες, έφεραν έξω εις τον χείμαρρον Κέδρων. 17Και ήρχισαν να αγιάζωσι τη πρώτη του μηνός του πρώτου, και τη ογδόη ημέρα του μηνός εισήλθον εις τον πρόναον του Κυρίου. Και ηγίασαν τον οίκον του Κυρίου εν οκτώ ημέραις, και τη δεκάτη έκτη του μηνός του πρώτου ετελείωσαν. 18Τότε εισήλθον προς Εζεκίαν τον βασιλέα και είπον, Εκαθαρίσαμεν όλον τον οίκον του Κυρίου και το θυσιαστήριον της ολοκαυτώσεως και πάντα τα σκεύη αυτού και την τράπεζαν της προθέσεως και πάντα τα σκεύη αυτής· 19και πάντα τα σκεύη, τα οποία εμίανεν ο βασιλεύς Άχαζ επί της βασιλείας αυτού, ότε απεστάτησεν, ητοιμάσαμεν και ηγιάσαμεν· και ιδού, είναι έμπροσθεν του θυσιαστηρίου του Κυρίου. 20Τότε εξηγέρθη Εζεκίας ο βασιλεύς, και συναγαγών τους άρχοντας της πόλεως, ανέβη προς τον οίκον του Κυρίου. 21Και έφεραν επτά μόσχους και επτά κριούς και επτά αρνία και επτά τράγους διά προσφοράν περί αμαρτίας υπέρ της βασιλείας και υπέρ του αγιαστηρίου και υπέρ του Ιούδα. Και είπε προς τους ιερείς, τους υιούς Ααρών, να προσφέρωσιν αυτά επί του θυσιαστηρίου του Κυρίου. 22Και έσφαξαν τους μόσχους· και παραλαβόντες οι ιερείς το αίμα, ερράντισαν επί το θυσιαστήριον· ομοίως έσφαξαν τους κριούς και ερράντισαν το αίμα επί το θυσιαστήριον· και έσφαξαν τα αρνία και ερράντισαν το αίμα επί το θυσιαστήριον. 23Έπειτα προσήγαγον τους τράγους, διά την περί αμαρτίας προσφοράν, έμπροσθεν του βασιλέως και της συνάξεως, οι δε επέθεσαν τας χείρας αυτών επ' αυτούς· 24και έσφαξαν αυτούς οι ιερείς και ερράντισαν το αίμα αυτών περί αμαρτίας επί το θυσιαστήριον, διά να κάμωσιν εξιλέωσιν υπέρ παντός του Ισραήλ· διότι ο βασιλεύς προσέταξε το ολοκαύτωμα και την περί αμαρτίας προσφοράν υπέρ παντός του Ισραήλ. 25Και έστησε τους Λευΐτας εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου εν κυμβάλοις, εν ψαλτηρίοις και εν κιθάραις, κατά το πρόσταγμα του Δαβίδ και Γαδ του βλέποντος του βασιλέως και Νάθαν του προφήτου· διότι το πρόσταγμα ήτο παρά Κυρίου διά των προφητών αυτού. 26Και εστάθησαν οι Λευΐται με τα όργανα του Δαβίδ και οι ιερείς με τας σάλπιγγας. 27Και είπεν ο Εζεκίας να προσφέρωσι την ολοκαύτωσιν επί του θυσιαστηρίου. Και ότε ήρχισεν η ολοκαύτωσις, ήρχισεν ο ύμνος του Κυρίου, με τας σάλπιγγας και με τα όργανα τα διωρισμένα παρά του Δαβίδ βασιλέως του Ισραήλ. 28Και προσεκύνει πάσα η σύναξις και έψαλλον οι ψαλτωδοί και οι σαλπιγκταί εσάλπιζον· όλον τούτο εξηκολούθει εωσού ετελείωσεν η ολοκαύτωσις. 29Και ως ετελείωσαν προσφέροντες, έκλιναν ο βασιλεύς και πάντες οι ευρεθέντες μετ' αυτού και προσεκύνησαν. 30Και είπε προς τους Λευΐτας Εζεκίας ο βασιλεύς και οι άρχοντες να υμνώσι τον Κύριον με τους λόγους του Δαβίδ και Ασάφ του βλέποντος. Και ύμνησαν εν ευφροσύνη και κύψαντες προσεκύνησαν. 31Τότε αποκριθείς ο Εζεκίας είπε, Τώρα είσθε καθιερωμένοι εις τον Κύριον· προσέλθετε και προσφέρετε θυσίας και ευχαριστηρίους προσφοράς εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου. Και προσέφερεν η σύναξις θυσίας και ευχαριστηρίους προσφοράς, και πας πρόθυμος την καρδίαν, ολοκαυτώματα. 32Και έγεινεν ο αριθμός των ολοκαυτωμάτων, τα οποία προσέφερεν η σύναξις, εβδομήκοντα μόσχοι, εκατόν κριοί, διακόσια αρνία· πάντα ταύτα ήσαν διά ολοκαύτωσιν προς τον Κύριον. 33Τα δε αφιερώματα ήσαν εξακόσιοι βόες και τρισχίλια πρόβατα. 34Οι ιερείς όμως ήσαν ολίγοι και δεν ηδύναντο να εκδέρωσι πάντα τα ολοκαυτώματα· όθεν οι αδελφοί αυτών οι Λευΐται εβοήθησαν αυτούς, εωσού η εργασία συνετελέσθη και εωσού ηγιάσθησαν οι ιερείς· διότι οι Λευΐται εστάθησαν ευθύτεροι την καρδίαν εις το να αγιασθώσι, παρά οι ιερείς. 35Έτι δε τα ολοκαυτώματα ήσαν πολλά, μετά των στεάτων των ειρηνικών προσφορών, και μετά των σπονδών δι' έκαστον ολοκαύτωμα. Ούτως αποκατεστάθη η υπηρεσία του οίκου του Κυρίου. 36Και ευφράνθη ο Εζεκίας και πας ο λαός, ότι ο Θεός προδιέθεσε τον λαόν· επειδή το πράγμα έγεινεν αιφνιδίως.
1Hezekiah began to reign when he was twenty-five years old; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah. 2He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that David his father had done. 3He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of Yahweh’s house, and repaired them. 4He brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the broad place on the east, 5and said to them, “Listen to me, you Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify Yahweh’s house, the God of your fathers, and carry out the filthiness out of the holy place. 6For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of Yahweh, and turned their backs. 7Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel. 8Therefore the wrath of Yahweh was on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has delivered them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as you see with your eyes. 9For, behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this. 10Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with Yahweh, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us. 11My sons, don’t be negligent now; for Yahweh has chosen you to stand before him, to minister to him, and that you should be his ministers, and burn incense.” 12Then the Levites arose, Mahath, the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah; 13and of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah; 14and of the sons of Heman, Jehuel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel. 15They gathered their brothers, and sanctified themselves, and went in, according to the commandment of the king by Yahweh’s words, to cleanse Yahweh’s house. 16The priests went in to the inner part of Yahweh’s house, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in Yahweh’s temple into the court of Yahweh’s house. The Levites took it, to carry it out abroad to the brook Kidron. 17Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of Yahweh; and they sanctified Yahweh’s house in eight days: and on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end. 18Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace, and said, “We have cleansed all Yahweh’s house, and the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and the table of show bread, with all its vessels. 19Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign threw away when he trespassed, have we prepared and sanctified; and behold, they are before the altar of Yahweh.” 20Then Hezekiah the king arose early, and gathered the princes of the city, and went up to Yahweh’s house. 21They brought seven bulls, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven male goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. He commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Yahweh. 22So they killed the bulls, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: and they killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood on the altar: they killed also the lambs, and sprinkled the blood on the altar. 23They brought near the male goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands on them: 24and the priests killed them, and they made a sin offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel; for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel. 25He set the Levites in Yahweh’s house with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was of Yahweh by his prophets. 26The Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. 27Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering on the altar. When the burnt offering began, the song of Yahweh began also, and the trumpets, together with the instruments of David king of Israel. 28All the assembly worshiped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. 29When they had made an end of offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed themselves and worshiped. 30Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises to Yahweh with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. They sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped. 31Then Hezekiah answered, “Now you have consecrated yourselves to Yahweh; come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into Yahweh’s house.” The assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings. 32The number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to Yahweh. 33The consecrated things were six hundred head of cattle and three thousand sheep. 34But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: therefore their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was ended, and until the priests had sanctified themselves; for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests. 35Also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of Yahweh’s house was set in order. 36Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because of that which God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

en op den zestienden dag der eerste maand maakten zij een einde. 18Daarna kwamen zij binnen tot den koning Hizkia, en zeiden: Wij hebben het gehele huis des HEEREN gereinigd, mitsgaders het brandofferaltaar met al zijn gereedschap, en de tafel der toerichting met al haar gereedschap. 19Alle gereedschap ook, dat de koning Achaz, onder zijn koninkrijk, door zijn overtreding weggeworpen had, hebben wij bereid en geheiligd; en zie, zij zijn voor het altaar des HEEREN. 20Toen maakte zich de koning Jehizkia vroeg op, en verzamelde de oversten der stad, en hij ging op in het huis des HEEREN. 21En zij brachten zeven varren, en zeven rammen, en zeven lammeren, en zeven geitenbokken ten zondoffer voor het koninkrijk, en voor het heiligdom, en voor Juda; en hij zeide tot de zonen van Aaron, de priesteren, dat zij die op het altaar des HEEREN zouden offeren. 22Zo slachtten zij de runderen, en de priesters ontvingen het bloed, en sprengden het op het altaar; want de koning had dat brandoffer en dat zondoffer voor gans Israel bevolen. 25En hij stelde de Levieten in het huis des HEEREN, met cimbalen, met luiten en harpen, naar het gebod van David, en van Gad, den ziener des konings, en van Nathan, den profeet; want dit gebod was van de hand des HEEREN, door de hand Zijner profeten. 26De Levieten nu stonden met de instrumenten van David, en de priesters met de trompetten. 27En Hizkia beval, dat men het brandoffer op het altaar zou offeren; ten tijde nu, als dat brandoffer begon, begon het gezang des HEEREN met de trompetten en met de instrumenten van David, den koning van Israel. 28De ganse gemeente nu boog zich neder, als men het gezang zong, en met trompetten trompette; dit alles totdat het brandoffer voleind was. 29Als men nu geeindigd had te offeren, bukten de koning en allen, die bij hem gevonden waren, en bogen zich neder. 30Daarna zeide de koning Jehizkia, en de oversten, tot de Levieten, dat zij den HEERE loven zouden, met de woorden van David en van Asaf, den ziener; en zij loofden tot blijdschap toe; en neigden hun hoofden, en bogen zich neder. 31En Jehizkia antwoordde en zeide: Nu hebt gij uw handen den HEERE gevuld, treedt toe, en brengt slachtofferen en lofofferen tot het huis des HEEREN; en de gemeente bracht slachtofferen en lofofferen en alle vrijwilligen van harte brandofferen. 32En het getal der brandofferen, die de gemeente bracht, was zeventig runderen, honderd rammen, tweehonderd lammeren; deze alle den HEERE ten brandoffer. 33Nog waren der geheiligde dingen zeshonderd runderen en drie duizend schapen. 34Doch van de priesteren waren er te weinig, en zij konden al den brandofferen de huid niet aftrekken; daarom hielpen hen hun broederen, de Levieten, totdat het werk geeindigd was, en totdat de andere priesters zich geheiligd hadden; want de Levieten waren rechter van hart, om zich te heiligen, dan de priesteren. 35En ook waren de brandofferen in menigte, met het vet der dankofferen, en met de drankofferen, voor de brandofferen; alzo werd de dienst van het huis des HEEREN besteld. 36Jehizkia nu en al het volk verblijdden zich over hetgeen God het volk voorbereid had; want deze zaak geschiedde haastelijk.
