1Năm thứ bảy, Giê-hô-gia-đa làm cho mình nên mạnh, vời các quan tướng cai trăm người, là A-cha-xia, con trai của Giê-rô-ham, Ích-ma-ên, con trai của Giô-ha-nan, A-xa-ria, con trai của Ô-bết, Ma-a-xê-gia, con trai của A-đa-gia, và Ê-li-sa-phát, con trai của Xiếc-ri, và lập giao ước với các người ấy. 2Những người ấy đi khắp xứ Giu-đa, và từ các thành Giu-đa nhóm người Lê-vi và các trưởng tộc của Y-sơ-ra-ên; rồi họ đều đến Giê-ru-sa-lem. 3Cả hội chúng đều lập giao ước với vua tại trong đền thờ của Ðức Chúa Trời. Giê-hô-gia-đa nói với chúng rằng: Nầy con trai của vua sẽ cai trị theo lời Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán về con cháu Ða-vít. 4Nầy điều các ngươi sẽ làm: Một phần ba trong các ngươi, tức những thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi, đến phiên trong ngày sa-bát, sẽ giữ cửa; 5một phần ba sẽ vào trong cung vua, và một phần ba ở nơi cửa Giê-sốt; còn cả dân sự sẽ ở nơi hành lang của đền Ðức Giê-hô-va. 6Chớ để ai vào trong đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va ngoại trừ những thầy tế lễ và các người Lê-vi phục sự: họ sẽ vào, bởi vì họ thánh sạch, cả dân sự sẽ giữ mạng lịnh của Ðức Giê-hô-va. 7Người Lê-vi sẽ vây chung quanh vua, hễ ai vào đền thờ thì sẽ bị giết; các ngươi khá theo hầu vua khi người đi ra đi vào. 8Người Lê-vi và cả Giu-đa đều làm theo lời thầy tế lễ Giê-hô-gia-đa đã dặn bảo; mỗi người đều lãnh kẻ thủ hạ mình, hoặc những kẻ vào phiên ngày sa-bát hay là kẻ mãn phiên ngày sa-bát; vì thầy tế lễ Giê-hô-gia-đa không cho các phiên đổi về. 9Thầy tế lễ Giê-hô-gia-đa phát cho các quan tướng cai trăm người, những giáo, khiên nhỏ và lớn của vua Ða-vít, để trong đền Ðức Chúa Trời. 10Người khiến dân chúng, ai nấy cầm binh khí mình, sắp hàng đứng chung quanh vua dài theo bàn thờ và đền, từ bên hữu đền cho đến bên tả đền. 11Ðoạn chúng đem vương tử ra, đội mão triều thiên trên đầu người, và trao luật pháp cho người, rồi tôn người làm vua; Giê-hô-gia-đa và các con trai người xức dầu cho người mà rằng: Vua vạn tuế! 12Khi A-tha-li nghe tiếng dân sự chạy và chúc tụng vua, thì đi đến cùng dân sự tại trong đền Ðức Giê-hô-va. 13Bà xem thấy vua đứng trên cái sạp tại cửa vào; các quan tướng và kẻ thổi kèn đứng gần bên vua; còn cả dân sự của xứ đều vui mừng và thổi kèn, lại có những kẻ ca xướng gảy nhạc khí, mà ngợi khen Ðức Chúa Trời. A-tha-li bèn xé áo mình mà la lên rằng: Phản ngụy! phản ngụy! 14Thầy tế lễ Giê-hô-gia-đa đòi ra các quan tướng cai trăm người được đặt thống quản đạo quân, mà biểu rằng: Hãy dẫn bà ra ngoài khỏi hàng quân, hễ ai theo bà, khá giết nó bằng gươm, vì thầy tế lễ đã dạy rằng: Chớ giết bà tại trong đền thờ của Ðức Giê-hô-va. 15Chúng bèn vẹt đường cho bà; bà trở vào cung vua bởi nơi cửa ngựa vào; rồi chúng giết bà tại đó. 16Giê-hô-gia-đa bèn lập giao ước với cả dân sự và với vua, để chúng làm dân sự của Ðức Giê-hô-va. 17Cả dân sự đều đi đến miễu Ba-anh, phá dỡ nó, đập bể bàn thờ và hình tượng nó, rồi giết Ma-than, thầy tế lễ của Ba-anh, tại trước bàn thờ. 18Chiếu theo ban thứ Ða-vít đã định trong đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va, Giê-hô-gia-đa giao các chức sự về đền Ðức Giê-hô-va vào tay những thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi, đặng dân những của lễ thiêu cho Giê-hô-va cách ca hát vui mừng, y theo đều đã chép trong luật pháp của Môi-se, và theo lệ Ða-vít đã định. 19Người cũng đặt những kẻ canh cửa ở nơi các cửa đền Ðức Giê-hô-va, hầu cho ai bị ô uế về vô luận sự gì, đều chẳng được vào đó. 20Người lãnh lấy những quan tướng cai trăm người, kẻ tước vị và những người quan trưởng của dân, cùng cả dân sự của xứ, mà rước vua từ đền Ðức Giê-hô-va xuống, đi vào cung vua bởi cửa trên, rồi đặt vua ngồi trên ngôi nước. 21Hết thảy dân sự của xứ đều vui mừng, và thành được bình tịnh. Vả, chúng đã giết A-tha-li bằng gươm.
1In the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with him. 2They went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the heads of fathers’ households of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem. 3All the assembly made a covenant with the king in God’s house. He said to them, “Behold, the king’s son shall reign, as Yahweh has spoken concerning the sons of David. 4This is the thing that you shall do. A third part of you, who come in on the Sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the thresholds. 5A third part shall be at the king’s house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation. All the people shall be in the courts of Yahweh’s house. 6But let no one come into Yahweh’s house, except the priests, and those who minister of the Levites. They shall come in, for they are holy, but all the people shall follow Yahweh’s instructions. 7The Levites shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand. Whoever comes into the house, let him be slain. Be with the king when he comes in, and when he goes out.” 8So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men, those who were to come in on the Sabbath; with those who were to go out on the Sabbath; for Jehoiada the priest didn’t dismiss the shift. 9Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds the spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David’s, which were in God’s house. 10He set all the people, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the house, around the king. 11Then they brought out the king’s son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the testimony, and made him king: and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him; and they said, “Long live the king!” 12When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into Yahweh’s house: 13and she looked, and, behold, the king stood by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets; the singers also played musical instruments, and led the singing of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and said, “Treason! treason!” 14Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, “Bring her out between the ranks; and whoever follows her, let him be slain with the sword.” For the priest said, “Don’t kill her in the Yahweh’s house.” 15So they made way for her. She went to the entrance of the horse gate to the king’s house; and they killed her there. 16Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, and all the people, and the king, that they should be Yahweh’s people. 17All the people went to the house of Baal, and broke it down, and broke his altars and his images in pieces, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. 18Jehoiada appointed the officers of Yahweh’s house under the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in Yahweh’s house, to offer the burnt offerings of Yahweh, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of David. 19He set the porters at the gates of Yahweh’s house, that no one who was unclean in anything should enter in. 20He took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from Yahweh’s house: and they came through the upper gate to the king’s house, and set the king on the throne of the kingdom. 21So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. Athaliah they had slain with the sword.
1Doch in het zevende jaar versterkte zich Jojada, en nam de oversten der honderden, Azarja, den zoon van Jeroham en Ismael, den zoon van Johanan, en Azarja, den zoon van Obed, en Maaseja, den zoon van Adaja en Elisafat, den zoon van Zichri, met zich in een verbond. 2Die togen om in Juda, en vergaderden de Levieten uit alle steden van Juda, en de hoofden der vaderen van Israel, en zij kwamen naar Jeruzalem. 3En die ganse gemeente maakte een verbond in het huis Gods, met den koning; en hij zeide tot hen: Ziet, de zoon des konings zal koning zijn, gelijk als de HEERE van de zonen van David gesproken heeft. 4Dit is de zaak, die gij doen zult: een derde deel van u, die op den sabbat ingaan, van de priesteren en van de Levieten, zullen tot poortiers der dorpelen zijn; 5En een derde deel zal zijn aan het huis des konings; en een derde deel aan de Fondamentpoort; en al het volk zal in de voorhoven zijn van het huis des HEEREN. 6Maar dat niemand kome in het huis des HEEREN, dan de priesteren en de Levieten, die dienen; die zullen ingaan, want zij zijn heilig; maar al het volk zal de wacht des HEEREN waarnemen. 7De Levieten nu zullen de koning rondom omsingelen, een ieder met zijn wapenen in zijn hand; en die tot het huis inkomt, zal gedood worden; doch weest gijlieden bij den koning, als hij inkomt en uitgaat. 8En de Levieten en gans Juda deden naar alles, wat de priester Jojada geboden had; en zij namen een ieder zijn mannen, die op den sabbat inkwamen, met degenen, die op den sabbat uitgingen; want de priester Jojada had aan de verdelingen geen verlof gegeven. 9Verder gaf de priester Jojada aan de oversten der honderden de spiesen, en de rondassen, en de schilden, die van den koning David geweest waren, die in het huis Gods waren. 10En hij stelde al het volk, en een ieder met zijn geweer in zijn hand, van de rechterzijde van het huis tot de linkerzijde van het huis, naar het altaar, en naar het huis, bij den koning rondom. 11Toen brachten zij des Konings zoon voor, en zetten hem de kroon op, en gaven hem de getuigenis, en zij maakten hem koning; en Jojada en zijn zonen zalfden hem, en zeiden: De koning leve! 12Toen nu Athalia hoorde de stem des volks, dat toeliep en den koning roemde, kwam zij tot het volk in het huis des HEEREN. 13En zij zag toe; en ziet, de koning stond bij zijn pilaar, aan de ingang; en de oversten en de trompetten waren bij den koning; en al het volk des lands was blijde, en blies met de trompetten; en de zangers waren er met muzikale instrumenten, en gaven te kennen, dat men lofzingen zou; toen verscheurde Athalia haar klederen, en zij riep: Verraad, verraad! 14Maar de priester Jojada bracht de oversten der honderden, die over het heir gesteld waren, uit, en zeide tot hen: Brengt ze uit tot buiten de ordeningen, en die haar volgt, zal met het zwaard gedood worden; want de priester had gezegd: Gij zult ze in het huis des HEEREN niet doden. 15En zij legden de handen aan haar, en zij ging naar den ingang van de Paardenpoort, naar het huis des konings; en zij doodden ze daar. 16En Jojada maakte een verbond tussen zich, en tussen al het volk, en tussen den koning, dat zij den HEERE tot een volk zouden zijn. 17Daarna ging al het volk in het huis van Baal, en braken dat af; en zijn altaren en zijn beelden verbraken zij, en Matthan, den priester van Baal, sloegen zij dood voor de altaren. 18Jojada nu bestelde de ambten in het huis des HEEREN, onder de hand der Levietische priesteren, die David in het huis des HEEREN afgedeeld had, om de brandofferen des HEEREN te offeren, gelijk in de wet van Mozes geschreven is, met blijdschap en met gezang, naar de instelling van David. 19En hij stelde de poortiers aan de poorten van het huis des HEEREN, opdat niemand, in enig ding onrein zijnde, inkwame. 20En hij nam de oversten der honderden, en de machtigen, en die heerschappij hadden onder het volk, en al het volk des lands, en bracht den koning van het huis des HEEREN af, en zij kwamen door het midden der hoge poort in het huis des konings; en zij zetten den koning op den troon des koninkrijks. 21En al het volk des lands was blijde, en de stad werd stil, nadat zij Athalia met het zwaard gedood hadden.
