1Yule joka akajikita katika mchanga ulioko ufuoni mwa bahari. Nami nikamwona mnyama akitoka ndani ya bahari. Mnyama huyo alikuwa na pembe kumi na vichwa saba, akiwa na taji kumi kwenye hizo pembe zake, na juu ya kila kichwa kulikuwa na jina la kukufuru. 2Mnyama yule niliyemwona alifanana na chui, lakini miguu yake ilikuwa kama ya dubu na kichwa chake kama cha simba. Lile joka likampa huyo mnyama nguvu zake, kiti chake cha enzi na mamlaka makubwa. 3Kimojawapo ya vichwa vya huyo mnyama kilikuwa kama kilichokwisha kupata jeraha la mauti, lakini jeraha hilo la mauti likapona. Ulimwengu wote ukashangaa ukamfuata huyo mnyama. 4Watu wakaliabudu lile joka kwa sababu lilikuwa limempa huyo mnyama mamlaka yake, pia wakamwabudu huyo mnyama na kuuliza, “Ni nani aliye kama huyu mnyama? Ni nani awezaye kupigana vita naye?” 5Huyo mnyama akapewa kusema maneno ya kiburi na kukufuru na kutumia mamlaka yake kwa muda wa miezi arobaini na miwili. 6Akafungua kinywa chake ili kumkufuru Mungu, akilitukana Jina lake na mahali aishipo na wale wakaao mbinguni. 7Pia akaruhusiwa kufanya vita na watakatifu na kuwashinda. Akapewa uwezo juu ya watu wa kila kabila, jamaa, lugha na taifa. 8Nao watu wote waishio duniani watamwabudu huyo mnyama, yaani, wale wote ambao majina yao hayakuandikwa kwenye kitabu cha uzima cha Mwana-Kondoo aliyechinjwa tangu kuumbwa kwa ulimwengu. 9Yeye aliye na sikio na asikie. 10Ikiwa mtu ni wa kuchukuliwa mateka, atachukuliwa mateka. Ikiwa mtu ni wa kuuawa kwa upanga, atauawa kwa upanga. Hapa ndipo penye wito wa subira na imani ya watakatifu. 11Kisha nikamwona mnyama mwingine, akipanda juu kutoka dunia. Alikuwa na pembe mbili kama mwana-kondoo, lakini akanena kama joka. 12Akatumia mamlaka yote ya yule mnyama wa kwanza kwa niaba yake, naye akawafanya wote wakaao duniani kumwabudu yule mnyama wa kwanza, ambaye jeraha lake la mauti lilipona. 13Naye akafanya ishara kuu na za ajabu, hata kusababisha moto kushuka toka mbinguni kuja duniani watu wakiona waziwazi. 14Kwa sababu ya zile ishara alizokuwa amepewa uwezo wa kuzifanya kwa niaba ya yule mnyama wa kwanza, akawadanganya wakaao duniani. Akawaamuru wasimamishe sanamu kwa heshima ya yule mnyama aliyekuwa amejeruhiwa kwa upanga lakini akaishi. 15Akapewa uwezo wa kuipa pumzi ile sanamu ya yule mnyama wa kwanza, ili iweze kusema na kuwasababisha wale wote waliokataa kuiabudu hiyo sanamu kuuawa. 16Pia alimlazimisha kila mmoja, mdogo na mkubwa, tajiri na maskini, mtu huru na mtumwa, atiwe chapa kwenye mkono wake wa kuume au kwenye kipaji chake cha uso, 17ili kwamba mtu yeyote asiweze kununua wala kuuza isipokuwa amekuwa na hiyo chapa, ambayo ni jina la huyo mnyama au tarakimu za jina lake. 18Hapa ndipo penye hekima. Yeye aliye na ufahamu na ahesabu tarakimu za huyo mnyama, kwa maana ni tarakimu za kibinadamu. Tarakimu zake ni 666.

1Then I stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads, blasphemous names. 2The beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3One of his heads looked like it had been wounded fatally. His fatal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at the beast. 4They worshiped the dragon, because he gave his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” 5A mouth speaking great things and blasphemy was given to him. Authority to make war for forty-two months was given to him. 6He opened his mouth for blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven. 7It was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him. 8All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been killed. 9If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10If anyone is to go into captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, he must be killed. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints. 11I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon. 12He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. He makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. 13He performs great signs, even making fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the sight of people. 14He deceives my own people who dwell on the earth because of the signs he was granted to do in front of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who had the sword wound and lived. 15It was given to him to give breath to it, to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as wouldn’t worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16He causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, to be given marks on their right hands, or on their foreheads; 17and that no one would be able to buy or to sell, unless he has that mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name. 18Here is wisdom. He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is six hundred sixty-six.

1En ik zag uit de zee een beest opkomen, hebbende zeven hoofden en tien hoornen; en op zijn hoornen waren tien koninklijke hoeden, en op zijn hoofden was een naam van gods lastering. 2En het beest dat ik zag, was een pardel gelijk, en zijn voeten als eens beers voeten, en zijn mond als de mond eens leeuws; en de draak gaf hem zijn kracht, en zijn troon, en grote macht. 3En ik zag een van zijn hoofden als tot den dood gewond, en zijn dodelijke wonde werd genezen; en de gehele aarde verwonderde zich achter het beest. 4En zij aanbaden den draak, die het beest macht gegeven had; en zij aanbaden het beest, zeggende: Wie is dit beest gelijk? wie kan krijg voeren tegen hetzelve? 5En hetzelve werd een mond gegeven, om grote dingen en gods lasteringen te spreken; en hetzelve werd macht gegeven, om zulks te doen, twee en veertig maanden. 6En het opende zijn mond tot lastering tegen God, om Zijn Naam te lasteren, en Zijn tabernakel, en die in den hemel wonen. 7En hetzelve werd macht gegeven, om den heiligen krijg aan te doen, en om die te overwinnen; en hetzelve werd macht gegeven over alle geslacht, en taal, en volk. 8En allen, die op de aarde wonen, zullen hetzelve aanbidden, welker namen niet zijn geschreven in het boek des levens, des Lams, Dat geslacht is, van de grondlegging der wereld. 9Indien iemand oren heeft, die hore. 10Indien iemand in de gevangenis leidt, die gaat zelf in de gevangenis; indien iemand met het zwaard zal doden, die moet zelf met het zwaard gedood worden. Hier is de lijdzaamheid en het geloof der heiligen. 11En ik zag een ander beest uit de aarde opkomen, en het had twee hoornen, des Lams hoornen gelijk, en het sprak als de draak. 12En het oefent al de macht van het eerste beest, in tegenwoordigheid van hetzelve, en het maakt, dat de aarde, en die daarin wonen het eerste beest aanbidden, wiens dodelijke wonde genezen was. 13En het doet grote tekenen, zodat het ook vuur uit den hemel doet afkomen op de aarde, voor de mensen. 14En verleidt degenen, die op de aarde wonen, door de tekenen, die aan hetzelve toe doen gegeven zijn in de tegenwoordigheid van het beest; zeggende tot degenen, die op de aarde wonen, dat zij het beest, dat de wond des zwaards had, en weder leefde, een beeld zouden maken. 15En hetzelve werd macht gegeven om het beeld van het beest een geest te geven, opdat het beeld van het beest ook zou spreken, en maken, dat allen, die het beeld van het beest niet zouden aanbidden, gedood zouden worden. 16En het maakt, dat het aan allen, kleinen en groten, en rijken en armen, en vrijen en dienstknechten, een merkteken geve aan hun rechterhand of aan hun voorhoofden; 17En dat niemand mag kopen of verkopen, dan die dat merkteken heeft, of den naam van het beest, of het getal zijns naams. 18Hier is de wijsheid: die het verstand heeft, rekene het getal van het beest; want het is een getal eens mensen, en zijn getal is zeshonderd zes en zestig.
