1Neno la Bwana likanijia kusema: 2“Mwanadamu, walikuwepo wanawake wawili, binti wa mama mmoja. 3Wakawa makahaba huko Misri, wakajitia kwenye ukahaba tangu ujana wao. Katika nchi ile vifua vyao vya ubikira vikakumbatiwa huko na wakapoteza ubikira wao. 4Mkubwa aliitwa Ohola na mdogo wake Oholiba. Walikuwa wangu nao wakazaa wavulana na msichana. Ohola ni Samaria, Oholiba ni Yerusalemu. 5“Ohola akajitia kwenye ukahaba alipokuwa bado ni wangu, akatamani sana wapenzi wake, mashujaa Waashuru, 6waliovaa nguo za buluu, watawala na majemadari, wote walikuwa wanaume vijana wa kuvutia, wapandao farasi. 7Akafanya ukahaba na wasomi wote wa Ashuru, na kujinajisi kwa sanamu zote za kila mwanaume aliyemtamani. 8Hakuacha ukahaba wake aliouanza huko Misri, wakati ambapo tangu ujana wake wanaume walilala naye, wakikumbatia kifua cha ubikira wake na kumwaga tamaa zao juu yake. 9“Kwa hiyo nilimtia mikononi mwa wapenzi wake, Waashuru, kwa kuwa ndio aliowatamani. 10Wakamvua nguo zake wakamwacha uchi, wakawachukua wanawe na binti zake, naye wakamuua kwa upanga. Akawa kitu cha kudharauliwa miongoni mwa wanawake na adhabu ikatolewa dhidi yake. 11“Oholiba dada yake aliliona jambo hili, lakini kwa tamaa zake na ukahaba wake, akaharibu tabia zake kuliko Ohola dada yake. 12Yeye naye aliwatamani Waashuru, watawala na majemadari, mashujaa waliovalia sare, wapandao farasi, wanaume vijana wote waliovutia. 13Nikaona kuwa yeye pia alijinajisi, wote wawili wakaelekea njia moja. 14“Lakini yeye akazidisha ukahaba wake. Akaona wanaume waliochorwa ukutani, picha za Wakaldayo waliovalia nguo nyekundu, 15wakiwa na mikanda viunoni mwao na vilemba vichwani mwao, wote walifanana na maafisa wa Babeli wapandao magari ya vita, wenyeji wa Ukaldayo. 16Mara tu alipowaona, aliwatamani, akatuma wajumbe kwao huko Ukaldayo. 17Ndipo hao Wababeli wakaja kwake kwenye kitanda cha mapenzi, nao katika tamaa zao wakamtia unajisi. Baada ya kutiwa unajisi, akawaacha kwa kuwachukia. 18Alipofanya ukahaba wake waziwazi na kuonyesha hadharani uchi wake, nilimwacha kwa kumchukia, kama vile nilivyokuwa nimemwacha dada yake. 19Lakini akazidisha zaidi ukahaba wake alipozikumbuka siku zake za ujana, alipokuwa kahaba huko Misri. 20Huko aliwatamani wapenzi wake, ambao viungo vyao vya uzazi ni kama vya punda, na kile kiwatokacho ni kama kiwatokacho farasi. 21Hivyo ulitamani uasherati wa ujana wako wakati ulipokuwa Misri, kifua chako kilipokumbatiwa, na walipokutomasa kwa sababu ya matiti yako machanga. 22“Kwa hiyo, Oholiba, hili ndilo Bwana Mwenyezi asemalo: Nitawachochea wapenzi wako wawe kinyume na wewe, wale uliowaacha kwa kuchukia, nitawaleta dhidi yako kutoka kila upande: 23Wababeli na Wakaldayo wote, watu kutoka Pekodi, na Shoa na Koa, wakiwa pamoja na Waashuru wote, vijana wazuri, wote wakiwa watawala na majemadari, maafisa wa magari ya vita na watu wa vyeo vya juu, wote wakiwa wamepanda farasi. 24Watakuja dhidi yako wakiwa na silaha, magari ya vita, magari ya kukokota, pamoja na umati mkubwa wa watu. Watakuzingira pande zote kwa ngao na vigao na kofia za chuma. Nitakutia mikononi mwao ili wakuadhibu, nao watakuadhibu sawasawa na sheria zao. 25Nitaelekeza wivu wa hasira yangu dhidi yako, nao watakushughulikia kwa hasira kali. Watakatilia mbali pua yako na masikio yako, na wale watakaosalia miongoni mwako watauawa kwa upanga. Watachukua wana wako na binti zako, na wale watakaosalia miongoni mwenu watateketezwa kwa moto. 26Watakuvua pia nguo zako na kuchukua mapambo yako yaliyotengenezwa kwa vito na dhahabu. 27Hivyo ndivyo nitakavyokomesha uasherati wako na ukahaba wako uliouanza huko Misri. Hutatazama vitu hivi kwa kuvitamani tena, wala kukumbuka Misri tena. 28“Kwa hiyo hili ndilo Bwana Mwenyezi asemalo: Ninakaribia kukutia mikononi mwa wale unaowachukia, kwa wale uliojitenga nao kwa kuwachukia. 29Watakushughulikia kwa chuki na kukunyangʼanya kila kitu ulichokifanyia kazi. Watakuacha uchi na mtupu na aibu ya ukahaba wako itafunuliwa. Uasherati wako na uzinzi wako 30umekuletea haya yote, kwa sababu ulitamani mataifa na kujinajisi kwa sanamu zao. 31Umeiendea njia ya dada yako, hivyo nitakitia kikombe chake mkononi mwako. 32“Hili ndilo Bwana Mwenyezi asemalo: “Utakinywea kikombe cha dada yako, kikombe kikubwa na chenye kina kirefu; nitaletea juu yako dharau na dhihaka, kwa kuwa kimejaa sana. 33Utalewa ulevi na kujawa huzuni, kikombe cha maangamizo na ukiwa, kikombe cha dada yako Samaria. 34Utakinywa chote na kukimaliza; utakivunja vipande vipande na kuyararua matiti yako. Nimenena haya, asema Bwana Mwenyezi. 35“Kwa hiyo hili ndilo Bwana Mwenyezi asemalo: Kwa kuwa tangu uliponisahau mimi na kunitupa nyuma yako, lazima ubebe matokeo ya uasherati wako na ukahaba wako.” 36Bwana akaniambia, “Mwanadamu, Je, utawahukumu Ohola na Oholiba? Basi wakabili kwa ajili ya matendo yao ya machukizo, 37kwa kuwa wamefanya uzinzi na damu imo mikononi mwao. Wamefanya uzinzi na sanamu zao, hata wamewatoa watoto wao walionizalia kuwa kafara, kuwa chakula kwao. 38Pia wamenifanyia hili: wakati huo huo wamenajisi patakatifu pangu na kuzitangua Sabato zangu. 39Siku ile ile walitoa watoto wao kuwa kafara kwa sanamu zao, waliingia patakatifu pangu na kupatia unajisi. Hilo ndilo walilolifanya katika nyumba yangu. 40“Walituma hata wajumbe kuwaita watu kutoka mbali, nao walipowasili ulioga kwa ajili yao, ukapaka macho yako rangi na ukavaa mapambo yako yaliyotengenezwa kwa vito vya dhahabu. 41Ukaketi kwenye kiti cha anasa, kukiwa na meza iliyoandaliwa mbele yake ambayo juu yake ulikuwa umeweka uvumba na mafuta ambayo yalikuwa yangu. 42“Kelele za umati wa watu wasiojali zilikuwa zimemzunguka, wakaleta watu wengi waliokuwa wakifanya makelele na walevi kutoka nyikani, ambao walitia bangili kwenye mikono ya yule mwanamke na dada yake na pia taji nzuri za kupendeza kwenye vichwa vyao. 43Ndipo nikasema kuhusu yule aliyechakazwa na uzinzi, ‘Basi wamtumie kama kahaba, kwa kuwa ndivyo alivyo.’ 44Nao wakazini naye. Kama vile watu wazinivyo na kahaba, ndiyo hivyo walivyozini na hao wanawake waasherati, Ohola na Oholiba. 45Lakini watu wenye haki, watawahukumia adhabu wanawake wafanyao uzinzi na kumwaga damu, kwa kuwa ni wazinzi na damu iko mikononi mwao. 46“Hili ndilo Bwana Mwenyezi asemalo, Leteni watu wengi wenye makelele dhidi yao na uwaache wapate hofu na watekwe nyara. 47Hao watu wengi watawapiga kwa mawe na kuwaua kwa panga zao, watawaua wana wao na binti zao na kuzichoma nyumba zao. 48“Hivyo nitaukomesha uasherati katika nchi, ili wanawake wote wapate onyo nao wasije wakafanya uasherati kama ninyi mlivyofanya. 49Utapata adhabu kwa ajili ya uasherati wako na kuchukua matokeo ya dhambi zako za uasherati. Ndipo utakapojua kuwa Mimi ndimi Bwana Mwenyezi.”

1Yahweh’s word came again to me, saying, 2Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: 3and they played the prostitute in Egypt; they played the prostitute in their youth; there were their breasts pressed, and there was handled the bosom of their virginity. 4Their names were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister: and they became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. As for their names, Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah. 5Oholah played the prostitute when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbors, 6who were clothed with blue, governors and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding on horses. 7She bestowed her prostitution on them, the choicest men of Assyria all of them; and on whoever she doted, with all their idols she defiled herself. 8Neither has she left her prostitution since leaving Egypt; for in her youth they lay with her, and they handled the bosom of her virginity; and they poured out their prostitution on her. 9Therefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, on whom she doted. 10These uncovered her nakedness; they took her sons and her daughters; and her they killed with the sword: and she became a byword among women; for they executed judgments on her. 11Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet was she more corrupt in her doting than she, and in her prostitution which were more than the prostitution of her sister. 12She doted on the Assyrians, governors and rulers, her neighbors, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding on horses, all of them desirable young men. 13I saw that she was defiled; they both took one way. 14She increased her prostitution; for she saw men portrayed on the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, 15dressed with girdles on their waists, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them princes to look on, after the likeness of the Babylonians in Chaldea, the land of their birth. 16As soon as she saw them she doted on them, and sent messengers to them into Chaldea. 17The Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their prostitution, and she was polluted with them, and her soul was alienated from them. 18So she uncovered her prostitution, and uncovered her nakedness: then my soul was alienated from her, like as my soul was alienated from her sister. 19Yet she multiplied her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth, in which she had played the prostitute in the land of Egypt. 20She doted on their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of donkeys, and whose issue is like the issue of horses. 21Thus you called to memory the lewdness of your youth, in the handling of your bosom by the Egyptians for the breasts of your youth. 22Therefore, Oholibah, thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will raise up your lovers against you, from whom your soul is alienated, and I will bring them against you on every side: 23the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, Shoa, Koa, and all the Assyrians with them; desirable young men, governors and rulers all of them, princes and men of renown, all of them riding on horses. 24They shall come against you with weapons, chariots, and wagons, and with a company of peoples; they shall set themselves against you with buckler and shield and helmet all around; and I will commit the judgment to them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments. 25I will set my jealousy against you, and they shall deal with you in fury; they shall take away your nose and your ears; and your residue shall fall by the sword: they shall take your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by the fire. 26They shall also strip you of your clothes, and take away your beautiful jewels. 27Thus will I make your lewdness to cease from you, and your prostitution from the land of Egypt; so that you shall not lift up your eyes to them, nor remember Egypt any more. 28For thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of them whom you hate, into the hand of them from whom your soul is alienated; 29and they shall deal with you in hatred, and shall take away all your labor, and shall leave you naked and bare; and the nakedness of your prostitution shall be uncovered, both your lewdness and your prostitution. 30These things shall be done to you, because you have played the prostitute after the nations, and because you are polluted with their idols. 31You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore will I give her cup into your hand. 32Thus says the Lord Yahweh: You will drink of your sister’s cup, which is deep and large; you will be ridiculed and held in derision; it contains much. 33You shall be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of your sister Samaria. 34You shall even drink it and drain it out, and you shall gnaw the broken pieces of it, and shall tear your breasts; for I have spoken it, says the Lord Yahweh. 35Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you have forgotten me, and cast me behind your back, therefore you also bear your lewdness and your prostitution. 36Yahweh said moreover to me: Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? then declare to them their abominations. 37For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands; and with their idols have they committed adultery; and they have also caused their sons, whom they bore to me, to pass through the fire to them to be devoured. 38Moreover this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my Sabbaths. 39For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and behold, thus have they done in the midst of my house. 40Furthermore you have sent for men who come from far, to whom a messenger was sent, and behold, they came; for whom you did wash yourself, paint your eyes, and decorate yourself with ornaments, 41and sit on a stately bed, with a table prepared before it, whereupon you set my incense and my oil. 42The voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with men of the common sort were brought drunkards from the wilderness; and they put bracelets on their hands, and beautiful crowns on their heads. 43Then I said of her who was old in adulteries, Now they will play the prostitute with her, and she with them. 44They went in to her, as they go in to a prostitute: so went they in to Oholah and to Oholibah, the lewd women. 45Righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and with the judgment of women who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. 46For thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will bring up a company against them, and will give them to be tossed back and forth and robbed. 47The company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall kill their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. 48Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness. 49They shall recompense your lewdness on you, and you shall bear the sins of your idols; and you shall know that I am the Lord Yahweh.

1Verder geschiedde des HEEREN woord tot mij, zeggende: 2Mensenkind! daar waren twee vrouwen, dochteren van een moeder. 3Dezen hoereerden in Egypte; in haar jeugd hoereerden zij; daar werden haar borsten gedrukt, en daar werden de tepelen haars maagdoms betast. 4Haar namen nu waren: Ohola, de grootste, en Oholiba, haar zuster; en zij werden de Mijne, en baarden zonen en dochteren; dit waren haar namen: Samaria is Ohola, en Jeruzalem Oholiba. 5Ohola nu hoereerde, zijnde onder Mij; en zij werd verliefd op haar boelen, op de Assyriers, die nabij waren; 6Bekleed met hemelsblauw, vorsten en overheden, altemaal gewenste jongelingen, ruiteren, rijdende op paarden. 7Alzo dreef zij haar hoererijen met dezelve, die allen de keure der kinderen van Assur waren; en met allen, op dewelke zij verliefd was, met al derzelver drekgoden, verontreinigde zij zich. 8Zij verliet ook haar hoererijen niet, gebracht uit Egypte; want zij hadden bij haar in haar jeugd gelegen, en zij hadden de tepelen haars maagdoms betast, en zij hadden hun hoererij over haar uitgestort. 9Daarom gaf Ik haar in de hand van haar boelen over, in de hand der kinderen van Assur, op dewelke zij verliefd was. 10Dezen ontdekten haar schaamte, haar zonen en haar dochteren namen zij weg, maar haar doodden zij met het zwaard; en zij kreeg een naam onder de vrouwen, nadat men gerichten over haar geoefend had. 11Als haar zuster, Oholiba, dit zag, zo verdierf zij haar minne nog meer dan zij, en haar hoererijen meer dan de hoererijen van haar zuster. 12Zij werd verliefd op de kinderen van Assur, de vorsten en overheden, die nabij waren, bekleed met volkomen sieraad, ruiteren, rijdende op paarden, altemaal gewenste jongelingen. 13Toen zag Ik, dat zij verontreinigd was; zij hadden beiden enerlei weg. 14Ja, zij deed tot haar hoererijen nog meer toe; want toen zij geschilderde mannen aan den wand zag, de beelden der Chaldeen, geschilderd met menie, 15Gegord met een gordel aan hun lenden, hebbende overvloedig geverfde hoeden op hun hoofden, die allen in het aanzien hoofdmannen waren, naar de gelijkenis der kinderen van Babel, van Chaldea, het land hunner geboorte; 16Zo werd zij op dezelve verliefd met het opzien van haar ogen, en zij zond boden tot hen, naar Chaldea. 17De kinderen van Babel nu kwamen tot haar in tot het leger der minne, en verontreinigden haar met hun hoererij; ook verontreinigde zij zich met hen; daarna werd haar ziel van hen afgetrokken. 18Alzo ontdekte zij haar hoererijen, en ontdekte haar schaamte; toen werd Mijn ziel van haar afgetrokken, gelijk als Mijn ziel was afgetrokken van haar zuster. 19Doch zij vermenigvuldigde haar hoererijen, gedenkende aan de dagen van haar jeugd, als zij gehoereerd had in het land van Egypte. 20En zij werd verliefd meer dan derzelver bijwijven, welker vlees is als het vlees der ezelen, en welker vloed is als de vloed der paarden. 21Alzo hebt gij weder opgehaald de schandelijke daad uwer jeugd, als die van Egypte uw tepelen betastten, vanwege de borsten uwer jeugd. 22Daarom, o Oholiba! alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Zie, Ik zal uw boelen, van welke uw ziel is afgetrokken, tegen u verwekken, en Ik zal hen van rondom tegen u aanbrengen. 23De kinderen van Babel en alle Chaldeen, Pekod, en Soa, en Koa, en alle kinderen van Assur met hen; gewenste jongelingen, die allen vorsten en overheden zijn, hoofdmannen en vermaarde lieden, die allen te paard rijden. 24Die zullen tegen u komen met karren, wagenen en wielen, en met een vergadering van volken, rondassen, en schilden, en helmen; zij zullen zich rondom tegen u zetten; en Ik zal voor hun aangezicht het gericht stellen, en zij zullen u richten naar hun rechten. 25En Ik zal Mijn ijver tegen u zetten, dat zij in grimmigheid met u zullen handelen; zij zullen uw neus en uw oren afnemen, en het laatste van u zal door het zwaard vallen; zij zullen uw zonen en uw dochteren wegnemen, en het laatste van u zal door het vuur verteerd worden. 26Zij zullen u ook uw klederen uittrekken, en uw sieraadtuig wegnemen. 27Zo zal Ik uw schandelijkheid van u doen ophouden, mitsgaders uw hoererij, gebracht uit Egypteland; en gij zult uw ogen naar hen niet opheffen, en aan Egypte niet meer gedenken. 28Want alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Zie, Ik zal u overgeven in de hand dergenen, die gij haat, in de hand dergenen, van dewelken uw ziel is afgetrokken. 29Die zullen met u handelen uit haat, en al uw arbeid wegnemen, en u naakt en bloot laten, dat uw hoerenschaamte ontdekt worde, mitsgaders uw schandelijkheid en uw hoererijen. 30Deze dingen zal men u doen, dewijl gij de heidenen nagehoereerd hebt, en omdat gij u met hun drekgoden verontreinigd hebt. 31In den weg uwer zuster hebt gij gewandeld, daarom zal Ik haar beker in uw hand geven. 32Alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Gij zult den beker uwer zuster drinken, die diep en wijd is; gij zult tot belaching en spot worden; de beker houdt veel in. 33Van dronkenschap en jammer zult gij vol worden; de beker van uw zuster Samaria is een beker der verwoesting en der eenzaamheid. 34Gij zult hem drinken en uitzuigen, en zijn scherven zult gij brijzelen, en uw borsten zult gij afrukken; want Ik heb het gesproken, spreekt de Heere HEERE. 35Daarom, alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Omdat gij Mijner vergeten, en Mij achter uw rug geworpen hebt, zo draagt gij ook uw schandelijkheid en uw hoererijen. 36En de HEERE zeide tot mij: Mensenkind! zoudt gij Ohola en Oholiba recht geven? Ja, vertoon haar haar gruwelen. 37Want zij hebben overspel gedaan, en er is bloed in haar handen; en zij hebben met haar drekgoden overspel gedaan; daartoe hebben zij ook haar kinderen, die zij Mij gebaard hadden, voor hen door het vuur laten doorgaan, tot spijze. 38Nog hebben zij Mij dit gedaan; zij hebben Mijn heiligdom ten zelven dage verontreinigd, en Mijn sabbatten ontheiligd. 39Want als zij hun kinderen hun drekgoden geslacht hadden, zo kwamen zij op dienzelven dag in Mijn heiligdom, om dat te ontheiligen; en ziet, alzo hebben zij gedaan in het midden van Mijn huis. 40Dit is er ook, dat zij gezonden hebben tot mannen, die van verre zouden komen; tot dewelken als een bode gezonden was, ziet, zo kwamen zij, voor dewelken gij u wiest, uw ogen blankettet en u met sieraad versierdet; 41En gij zat op een heerlijk bed, voor hetwelk een tafel toegericht was, en op hetwelk gij Mijn reukwerk en Mijn olie gezet hadt. 42Als nu het geruis der menigte daarop stil was, zo zonden zij tot mannen uit de menigte der mensen, en daar werden wijnzuipers aangebracht uit de woestijn; die deden armringen aan haar handen, en een sierlijke kroon op haar hoofden. 43Toen zeide Ik van deze, die van overspelerijen verouderd was: Nu zullen zij hoereren de hoererijen dezer hoer, en die ook. 44En men ging tot haar in, gelijk men ingaat tot een vrouw, die een hoer is; alzo gingen zij in tot Ohola en tot Oholiba, die schandelijke vrouwen. 45Rechtvaardige mannen dan, die zullen haar richten naar het recht der overspeelsters, en naar het recht der bloedvergietsters; want zij zijn overspeelsters, en bloed is in haar handen. 46Want alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Ik zal een vergadering tegen haar doen opkomen, en zal ze ter beroering en ten roof overgeven. 47En de vergadering zal ze met stenen stenigen, en dezelve met hun zwaarden nederhouwen; haar zonen en haar dochteren zullen zij doden, en haar huizen met vuur verbranden. 48Alzo zal Ik de schandelijkheid uit het land doen ophouden; opdat alle vrouwen onderwezen worden, dat zij naar uw schandelijkheid niet doen. 49Alzo zullen zij uw schandelijkheid op u leggen, en gij zult de zonden uwer drekgoden dragen; en gijlieden zult weten, dat Ik de Heere HEERE ben.
