1Baada ya mambo haya yote kumalizika, Waisraeli ambao walikuwako huko wakaenda kwenye miji ya Yuda, wakayavunja yale mawe ya kuabudia na kuzikatakata zile nguzo za Ashera. Wakabomoa mahali pa juu pa kuabudia miungu pamoja na madhabahu zake kila mahali katika Yuda na Benyamini na katika Efraimu na Manase. Baada ya kuviharibu hivi vyote, Waisraeli wakarudi katika miji yao wenyewe na kwenye milki zao. 2Hezekia akawapanga makuhani na Walawi katika migawanyo, kila mgawanyo kulingana na wajibu wao, kama ni makuhani au Walawi, ili kutoa sadaka za kuteketezwa na sadaka za amani, kuhudumu, kushukuru na kuimba sifa katika malango ya makao ya Bwana. 3Mfalme akatoa matoleo kutoka mali zake mwenyewe kwa ajili ya sadaka za kuteketezwa za asubuhi na za jioni na sadaka za kuteketezwa kwa siku za Sabato, kwa Sikukuu za Mwezi Mwandamo na kwa ajili ya sikukuu zilizoamriwa kama ilivyoandikwa katika Sheria ya Bwana. 4Akawaagiza watu wanaoishi Yerusalemu watoe sehemu iliyo haki ya makuhani na Walawi ili waweze kujitoa kikamilifu kutimiza wajibu wao katika Sheria ya Bwana. 5Mara tu baada ya kutolewa tangazo hilo, Waisraeli wakatoa kwa ukarimu malimbuko ya nafaka zao, divai mpya, mafuta na asali pamoja na vyote vilivyotoka mashambani. Wakaleta kiasi kikubwa cha fungu la kumi la kila kitu. 6Watu wa Israeli na Yuda walioishi katika miji ya Yuda wakaleta pia fungu la kumi la makundi yao ya ngʼombe na makundi ya kondoo na mbuzi pia na fungu la kumi la vitu vitakatifu vilivyowekwa wakfu kwa ajili ya Bwana Mungu wao na kuvikusanya katika malundo. 7Wakaanza kufanya haya katika mwezi wa tatu na kumaliza katika mwezi wa saba. 8Wakati Hezekia na maafisa wake walipokuja na kuona yale malundo, wakamsifu Bwana na kuwabariki watu wake Israeli. 9Hezekia akawauliza makuhani na Walawi kuhusu yale malundo, 10naye Azaria aliyekuwa kuhani mkuu, kutoka jamaa ya Sadoki, akajibu, “Tangu watu walipoanza kuleta sadaka zao katika Hekalu la Bwana tumekuwa na chakula cha kutosha na vingi vya kuweka akiba kwa sababu Bwana amewabariki watu wake, hivyo tumekuwa na kiasi kingi kilichobaki.” 11Hezekia akatoa agizo la kutengeneza vyumba vya ghala katika Hekalu la Bwana nalo hili likafanyika. 12Kisha kwa uaminifu wakaleta sadaka zao, mafungu yao ya kumi na vitu vilivyowekwa wakfu. Konania Mlawi, ndiye alikuwa msimamizi wa vitu hivi na Shimei ndugu yake ndiye alikuwa msaidizi wake. 13Yehieli, Azazia, Nahathi, Asaheli, Yeremothi, Yozabadi, Elieli, Ismakia, Mahathi na Benaya walikuwa waangalizi chini ya Konania na Shimei ndugu yake, waliokuwa wamewekwa na Mfalme Hezekia na Azaria, afisa msimamizi wa Hekalu la Mungu. 14Kore mwana wa Imna, Mlawi, bawabu wa Lango la Mashariki, alikuwa msimamizi wa sadaka za hiari zilizotolewa kwa Mungu, akiyagawanya hayo matoleo yaliyotolewa kwa Bwana na pia zile sadaka zilizowekwa wakfu. 15Edeni, Miniamini, Yeshua, Shemaya, Amaria na Shekania walimsaidia kwa uaminifu katika miji ya makuhani, wakiwagawia makuhani wenzao kufuatana na migawanyo yao, wazee kwa vijana sawasawa. 16Zaidi ya hao wakawagawia wanaume wenye umri wa miaka mitatu au zaidi ambao majina yao yalikuwa kwenye orodha ya vizazi, wale wote ambao wangeingia katika Hekalu la Bwana ili kufanya kazi zao mbalimbali za kila siku kulingana na wajibu katika mgawanyo wao. 17Kuandikishwa kwa makuhani kulikuwa kwa kufuata chimbuko la nyumba za baba zao na Walawi kuanzia umri wa miaka ishirini au zaidi ilikuwa kufuatana na huduma zao, kwa migawanyo yao. 18Makuhani waliandikishwa pamoja na watoto wao wadogo, wake zao, watoto wao wa kiume na wa kike, jamii yote iliandikishwa kwa kufuata orodha ya vizazi vyao. Kwa kuwa walikuwa waaminifu katika kujitakasa. 19Kuhusu makuhani, wazao wa Aroni walioishi kwenye mashamba yaliyozunguka miji yao au katika miji mingine yoyote, watu walitajwa majina ili kumgawia kila mwanaume miongoni mwao na kwa wote waliokuwa katika orodha ya vizazi vya Walawi. 20Hivi ndivyo Hezekia alivyofanya katika Yuda yote, akifanya lile lililo jema, sawa na la uaminifu mbele za Bwana Mungu wake. 21Naye katika kila kitu alichofanya katika huduma kwenye Hekalu la Mungu na katika utii kwa sheria na amri, alimtafuta Mungu wake na kufanya kazi kwa moyo wake wote. Naye hivyo akafanikiwa.

1Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah, and broke in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles, and broke down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities. 2Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites after their divisions, every man according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of Yahweh. 3He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in Yahweh’s law. 4Moreover he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to Yahweh’s law. 5As soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel gave in abundance the first fruits of grain, new wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly. 6The children of Israel and Judah, who lived in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of cattle and sheep, and the tithe of dedicated things which were consecrated to Yahweh their God, and laid them by heaps. 7In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. 8When Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed Yahweh, and his people Israel. 9Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. 10Azariah the chief priest, of the house of Zadok, answered him and said, “Since people began to bring the offerings into Yahweh’s house, we have eaten and had enough, and have left plenty: for Yahweh has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.” 11Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare rooms in Yahweh’s house; and they prepared them. 12They brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: and over them Conaniah the Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was second. 13Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah, were overseers under the hand of Conaniah and Shimei his brother, by the appointment of Hezekiah the king, and Azariah the ruler of God’s house. 14Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the porter at the east gate, was over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the offerings of Yahweh, and the most holy things. 15Under him were Eden, and Miniamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their office of trust, to give to their brothers by divisions, as well to the great as to the small: 16besides those who were reckoned by genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even everyone who entered into Yahweh’s house, as the duty of every day required, for their service in their offices according to their divisions; 17and those who were reckoned by genealogy of the priests by their fathers’ houses, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their offices by their divisions; 18and those who were reckoned by genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: for in their office of trust they sanctified themselves in holiness. 19Also for the sons of Aaron the priests, who were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every city, there were men who were mentioned by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all who were reckoned by genealogy among the Levites. 20Hezekiah did so throughout all Judah; and he worked that which was good and right and faithful before Yahweh his God. 21In every work that he began in the service of God’s house, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

1Als zij nu voleind hadden, togen alle Israelieten, die er gevonden werden, uit, tot de steden van Juda, en braken de opgerichte beelden, en hieuwen de bossen af, en wierpen de hoogten en de altaren af, uit gans Juda en Benjamin, ook in Efraim en Manasse, totdat zij alles te niet gemaakt hadden; daarna keerden al de kinderen Israels weder, een ieder tot zijn bezitting in hun steden. 2En Hizkia bestelde de verdelingen der priesteren en der Levieten, naar hun verdelingen, een ieder naar zijn dienst, de priesteren en de Levieten tot het brandoffer en tot de dankofferen, om te dienen, en om te loven, en om te prijzen in de poort van de legers des HEEREN; 3Ook het deel des konings van zijn have tot de brandofferen, tot de brandofferen des morgens en des avonds, en de brandofferen der sabbatten, en der nieuwe maanden, en der gezette hoogtijden; gelijk geschreven is in de wet des HEEREN. 4En hij zeide tot het volk, tot de inwoners van Jeruzalem, dat zij het deel der priesteren en Levieten geven zouden, opdat zij versterkt mochten worden in de wet des HEEREN. 5Toen nu dat woord uitbrak, brachten de kinderen Israels vele eerstelingen van koren, most, en olie, en honig, en van al de inkomsten des velds; ook brachten zij de tienden van alles in met menigte. 6En de kinderen van Israel en Juda, die in de steden van Juda woonden, brachten ook tienden der runderen en der schapen, en tienden der heilige dingen, die den HEERE, hun God, geheiligd waren, en maakten vele hopen. 7In de derde maand begonnen zij den grond van die hopen te leggen, en in de zevende maand voleindden zij. 8Toen nu Jehizkia en de vorsten kwamen en die hopen zagen, zegenden zij den HEERE en Zijn volk Israel. 9En Jehizkia ondervraagde de priesteren en de Levieten aangaande die hopen. 10En Azaria, de hoofdpriester, van het huis van Zadok, sprak tot hem en zeide: Van dat men deze heffing begonnen heeft tot het huis des HEEREN te brengen, is er te eten geweest en verzadigd te worden, ja, over te houden tot overvloed toe; want de HEERE heeft Zijn volk gezegend, zodat deze veelheid overgebleven is. 11Toen zeide Jehizkia, dat men kameren aan het huis des HEEREN bereiden zou; en zij bereidden ze. 12Daarin brachten zij die heffing, en de tienden, en de geheiligde dingen, in getrouwigheid; en daarover was Chonanja, de Leviet, overste, en Simei, zijn broeder, de tweede. 13Maar Jehiel, en Azazja, en Nahath, en Asahel, en Jerimoth, en Jozabad, en Eliel, en Jismachja, en Mahath, en Benaja, waren opzieners, onder de hand van Chonanja en Simei, zijn broeder; door het bevel van den koning Jehizkia en van Azaria, den overste van het huis Gods. 14En Kore, de zoon van Jimna, de Leviet, de poortier tegen het oosten, was over de vrijwillige gaven Gods, om het hefoffer des HEEREN en het allerheiligste uit te delen. 15En aan zijn hand waren Eden, en Minjamin, en Jesua, en Semaja, Amarja en Sechanja, in de steden der priesteren, met getrouwigheid, om aan hun broederen in de verdelingen, zowel aan de kleinen als de groten, uit te delen: 16(Benevens die gesteld waren in het geslachtsregister der manspersonen, drie jaren oud en daarboven) allen, die in het huis des HEEREN gingen, tot het dagelijkse werk op elken dag, voor hun dienst, in hun wachten, naar hun verdelingen. 17En met die gesteld waren in het geslachtsregister der priesteren naar het huis hunner vaderen, ook de Levieten van twintig jaren oud en daarboven, in hun wachten, naar hun verdelingen; 18Ook tot de geslachtsrekening met al hun kinderkens, hun vrouwen, en hun zonen, en hun dochteren, door de ganse gemeente; want zij hadden zich in hun ambt in heiligheid geheiligd. 19Ook waren onder de kinderen van Aaron, de priesteren, op de velden der voorsteden hunner steden, in elke stad, mannen, die met namen uitgedrukt waren, om aan alle manspersonen onder de priesteren en aan allen, die in het geslachtsregister onder de Levieten gesteld waren, delen te geven. 20En alzo deed Jehizkia in geheel Juda; en hij deed dat goed, en recht, en waarachtig was, voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, zijns Gods. 21En in alle werk, dat hij begon in den dienst van het huis Gods, en in de wet en in het gebod, om zijn God te zoeken, deed hij met zijn ganse hart, en had voorspoed.
