1L’Eterno parlò a Mosè dopo la morte dei due figliuoli d’Aaronne, i quali morirono quando si presentarono davanti all’Eterno. 2L’Eterno disse a Mosè: "Parla ad Aaronne, tuo fratello, e digli di non entrare in ogni tempo nel santuario, di là dal velo, davanti al propiziatorio che è sull’arca, onde non abbia a morire; poiché io apparirò nella nuvola sul propiziatorio. 3Aaronne entrerà nel santuario in questo modo: prenderà un giovenco per un sacrifizio per il peccato, e un montone per un olocausto. 4Si metterà la tunica sacra di lino, e porterà sulla carne le brache di lino; si cingerà della cintura di lino, e si porrà in capo la mitra di lino. Questi sono i paramenti sacri; egli l’indosserà dopo essersi lavato il corpo nell’acqua. 5Dalla raunanza de’ figliuoli d’Israele prenderà due capri per un sacrifizio per il peccato, e un montone per un olocausto. 6Aaronne offrirà il giovenco del sacrifizio per il peccato, che è per sé, e farà l’espiazione per sé e per la sua casa. 7Poi prenderà i due capri, e li presenterà davanti all’Eterno all’ingresso della tenda di convegno. 8E Aaronne trarrà le sorti per vedere qual de’ due debba essere dell’Eterno e quale di Azazel. 9E Aaronne farà accostare il capro ch’è toccato in sorte all’Eterno, e l’offrirà come sacrifizio per il peccato; 10ma il capro ch’è toccato in sorte ad Azazel sarà posto vivo davanti all’Eterno, perché serva a fare l’espiazione e per mandarlo poi ad Azazel nel deserto. 11Aaronne offrirà dunque il giovenco del sacrifizio per il peccato per sé, e farà l’espiazione per sé e per la sua casa; e scannerà il giovenco del sacrifizio per il peccato per sé. 12Poi prenderà un turibolo pieno di carboni accesi tolti di sopra all’altare davanti all’Eterno, e due manate piene di profumo fragrante polverizzato; e porterà ogni cosa di là dal velo. 13Metterà il profumo sul fuoco davanti all’Eterno, affinché il nuvolo del profumo copra il propiziatorio che è sulla testimonianza, e non morrà. 14Poi prenderà del sangue del giovenco, e ne aspergerà col dito il propiziatorio dal lato d’oriente, e farà sette volte l’aspersione del sangue col dito, davanti al propiziatorio. 15Poi scannerà il capro del sacrifizio per il peccato, che è per il popolo, e ne porterà il sangue di là dal velo; e farà di questo sangue quello che ha fatto del sangue del giovenco: ne farà l’aspersione sul propiziatorio e davanti al propiziatorio. 16Così farà l’espiazione per il santuario, a motivo delle impurità dei figliuoli d’Israele, delle loro trasgressioni e di tutti i loro peccati. Lo stesso farà per la tenda di convegno ch’è stabilita fra loro, in mezzo alle loro impurità. 17E nella tenda di convegno, quand’egli entrerà nel santuario per farvi l’espiazione, non ci sarà alcuno, finch’egli non sia uscito e non abbia fatto l’espiazione per sé, per la sua casa e per tutta la raunanza d’Israele. 18Egli uscirà verso l’altare ch’è davanti all’Eterno, e farà l’espiazione per esso; prenderà del sangue del giovenco e del sangue del capro, e lo metterà sui corni dell’altare tutto all’intorno. 19E farà sette volte l’aspersione del sangue col dito, sopra l’altare, e così lo purificherà e lo santificherà a motivo delle impurità dei figliuoli d’Israele. 20E quando avrà finito di fare l’espiazione per il santuario, per la tenda di convegno e per l’altare, farà accostare il capro vivo. 21Aaronne poserà ambedue le mani sui capo del capro vivo, confesserà sopra esso tutte le iniquità dei figliuoli d’Israele, tutte le loro trasgressioni, tutti i loro peccati, e li metterà sulla testa del capro; poi, per mano di un uomo incaricato di questo, lo manderà via nel deserto. 22E quel capro porterà su di sé tutte le loro iniquità in terra solitaria, e sarà lasciato andare nel deserto. 23Poi Aaronne entrerà nella tenda di convegno, si spoglierà delle vesti di lino che aveva indossate per entrar nel santuario, e le deporrà quivi. 24Si laverà il corpo nell’acqua in un luogo santo, si metterà i suoi paramenti, e uscirà ad offrire il suo olocausto e l’olocausto del popolo, e farà l’espiazione per sé e per il popolo. 25E farà fumare sull’altare il grasso del sacrifizio per il peccato. 26Colui che avrà lasciato andare il capro destinato ad Azazel si laverà le vesti, laverà il suo corpo nell’acqua, e dopo questo rientrerà nel campo. 27E si porterà fuori del campo il giovenco del sacrifizio per il peccato e il capro del sacrifizio per il peccato, il cui sangue sarà stato portato nel santuario per farvi l’espiazione; e se ne bruceranno nel fuoco le pelli, la carne e gli escrementi. 28Poi colui che li avrà bruciati si laverà le vesti e laverà il suo corpo nell’acqua; dopo questo, rientrerà nel campo. 29Questa sarà per voi una legge perpetua: nel settimo mese, il decimo giorno del mese, umilierete le anime vostre, non farete lavoro di sorta, né colui ch’è nativo del paese, né il forestiero che soggiorna fra voi. 30Poiché in quel giorno si farà l’espiazione per voi, affin di purificarvi; voi sarete purificati da tutti i vostri peccati, davanti all’Eterno. 31E’ per voi un sabato di riposo solenne, e voi umilierete le anime vostre; è una legge perpetua. 32E il sacerdote che ha ricevuto l’unzione ed è stato consacrato per esercitare il sacerdozio al posto di suo padre, farà l’espiazione; si vestirà delle vesti di lino, de’ paramenti sacri. 33E farà l’espiazione per il santuario sacro; farà l’espiazione per la tenda di convegno e per l’altare; farà l’espiazione per i sacerdoti e per tutto il popolo della raunanza. 34Questa sarà per voi una legge perpetua, per fare una volta all’anno, per i figliuoli d’Israele, l’espiazione di tutti i loro peccati". E si fece come l’Eterno aveva ordinato a Mosè.
1Yahweh spoke to Moses, after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before Yahweh, and died; 2and Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother, not to come at all times into the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark; lest he die: for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat. 3“Aaron shall come into the sanctuary with a young bull for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. 4He shall put on the holy linen coat. He shall have the linen breeches on his body, and shall put on the linen sash, and he shall be clothed with the linen turban. They are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water, and put them on. 5He shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. 6“Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house. 7He shall take the two goats, and set them before Yahweh at the door of the Tent of Meeting. 8Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats; one lot for Yahweh, and the other lot for the scapegoat. 9Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for Yahweh, and offer him for a sin offering. 10But the goat, on which the lot fell for the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before Yahweh, to make atonement for him, to send him away for the scapegoat into the wilderness. 11“Aaron shall present the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is for himself. 12He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before Yahweh, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil: 13and he shall put the incense on the fire before Yahweh, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the testimony, so that he will not die. 14He shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times. 15“Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat. 16He shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting, that dwells with them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17No one shall be in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel. 18“He shall go out to the altar that is before Yahweh and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull’s blood, and some of the goat’s blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar. 19He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Israel. 20“When he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat. 21Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them on the head of the goat, and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness. 22The goat shall carry all their iniquities on himself to a solitary land, and he shall let the goat go in the wilderness. 23“Aaron shall come into the Tent of Meeting, and shall take off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there. 24Then he shall bathe himself in water in a holy place, and put on his garments, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people. 25The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar. 26“He who lets the goat go for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp. 27The bull for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp; and they shall burn their skins, their flesh, and their dung with fire. 28He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp. 29“It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, the native-born, or the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you: 30for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before Yahweh. 31It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever. 32The priest, who is anointed and who is consecrated to be priest in his father’s place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments. 33Then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly. 34“This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel once in the year because of all their sins.” It was done as Yahweh commanded Moses.

opdat men hem als een weggaanden bok naar de woestijn uitlate. 11Aaron dan zal den var des zondoffers, die voor hemzelven zal zijn, toebrengen, en voor zichzelven en voor zijn huis verzoening doen, en zal den var des zondoffers, die voor hemzelven zal zijn, slachten. 12Hij zal ook een wierookvat vol vurige kolen nemen van het altaar, van voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, en zijn handen vol reukwerk van welriekende specerijen, klein gestoten; en hij zal het binnen den voorhang dragen. 13En hij zal dat reukwerk op het vuur leggen, voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, opdat de nevel des reukwerks het verzoendeksel, hetwelk is op de getuigenis, bedekke, en dat hij niet sterve. 14En hij zal van het bloed van den var nemen, en zal met zijn vinger op het verzoendeksel oostwaarts sprengen; en voor het verzoendeksel zal hij zevenmaal met zijn vinger van dat bloed sprengen. 15Daarna zal hij den bok des zondoffers, die voor het volk zal zijn, slachten, en zal zijn bloed tot binnen in den voorhang dragen, en zal met zijn bloed doen, gelijk als hij met het bloed van den var gedaan heeft, en zal dat sprengen op het verzoendeksel, en voor het verzoendeksel. 16Zo zal hij voor het heilige, vanwege de onreinigheden der kinderen Israels, en vanwege hun overtredingen, naar al hun zonden, verzoening doen; en alzo zal hij doen aan de tent der samenkomst, welke met hen woont in het midden hunner onreinigheden. 17En geen mens zal in de tent der samenkomst zijn, als hij zal ingaan, om in het heilige verzoening te doen, totdat hij zal uitkomen; alzo zal hij verzoening doen, voor zichzelven, en voor zijn huis, en voor de gehele gemeente van Israel. 18Daarna zal hij tot het altaar, dat voor het aangezicht des HEEREN is, uitkomen, en verzoening voor hetzelve doen; en hij zal van het bloed van den var, en van het bloed van den bok nemen, en doen het rondom op de hoornen des altaars. 19En hij zal daarop van dat bloed met zijn vinger zevenmaal sprengen, en hij zal dat reinigen en heiligen van de onreinigheden der kinderen Israels. 20Als hij nu zal geeindigd hebben van het heilige, en de tent der samenkomst, en het altaar te verzoenen, zo zal hij dien levenden bok toebrengen. 21En Aaron zal beide zijn handen op het hoofd van den levenden bok leggen, en zal daarop al de ongerechtigheden der kinderen Israels, en al hun overtredingen, naar al hun zonden, belijden; en hij zal die op het hoofd des boks leggen, en zal hem door de hand eens mans, die voorhanden is, naar de woestijn uitlaten. 22Alzo zal die bok op zich al hun ongerechtigheden in een afgezonderd land wegdragen; en hij zal dien bok in de woestijn uitlaten. 23Daarna zal Aaron komen in de tent der samenkomst, en zal de linnen klederen uitdoen, die hij aangedaan had, als hij in het heilige ging, en hij zal ze daar laten. 24En hij zal zijn vlees in de heilige plaats met water baden, en zijn klederen aandoen; dan zal hij uitgaan, en zijn brandoffer, en het brandoffer des volks bereiden, en voor zich en voor het volk verzoening doen. 25Ook zal hij het vet des zondoffers op het altaar aansteken. 26En die den bok, welke een weggaande bok was, zal uitgelaten hebben, zal zijn klederen wassen, en zijn vlees met water baden; en daarna zal hij in het leger komen. 27Maar den var des zondoffers, en den bok des zondoffers, welker bloed ingebracht is, om verzoening te doen in het heilige, zal men tot buiten het leger uitvoeren; doch hun vellen, hun vlees en hun mest zullen zij met vuur verbranden. 28Die nu dezelve verbrandt, zal zijn klederen wassen, en zijn vlees met water baden; en daarna zal hij in het leger komen. 29En dit zal voor u tot een eeuwige inzetting zijn: gij zult in de zevende maand, op den tienden der maand, uw zielen verootmoedigen, en geen werk doen, inboorling noch vreemdeling, die in het midden van u als vreemdeling verkeert. 30Want op dien dag zal hij voor u verzoening doen, om u te reinigen; van al uw zonden zult gij voor het aangezicht des HEEREN gereinigd worden. 31Dat zal u een sabbat der rust zijn, opdat gij uw zielen verootmoedigt; het is een eeuwige inzetting. 32En de priester, dien men gezalfd, en wiens hand men gevuld zal hebben, om voor zijn vader het priesterambt te bedienen, zal de verzoening doen, als hij de linnen klederen, de heilige klederen, zal aangetrokken hebben. 33Zo zal hij het heilige heiligdom verzoenen, en de tent der samenkomst, en het altaar zal hij verzoenen; desgelijks voor de priesteren, en voor al het volk der gemeente zal hij verzoening doen. 34En dit zal u tot een eeuwige inzetting zijn, om voor de kinderen Israels van al hun zonden, eenmaal des jaars, verzoening te doen. En men deed, gelijk als de HEERE Mozes geboden had.
