1Paolo, apostolo di Cristo Gesù per volontà di Dio, ai santi che sono in Efeso ed ai fedeli in Cristo Gesù. 2Grazia a voi e pace da Dio, Padre nostro, e dal Signor Gesù Cristo. 3Benedetto sia l’Iddio e Padre del nostro Signor Gesù Cristo, il quale ci ha benedetti d’ogni benedizione spirituale ne’ luoghi celesti in Cristo, 4siccome in lui ci ha eletti, prima della fondazione del mondo, affinché fossimo santi ed irreprensibili dinanzi a lui nell’amore, 5avendoci predestinati ad essere adottati, per mezzo di Gesù Cristo, come suoi figliuoli, secondo il beneplacito della sua volontà: 6a lode della gloria della sua grazia, la quale Egli ci ha largita nell’amato suo. 7Poiché in Lui noi abbiamo la redenzione mediante il suo sangue, la remissione de’ peccati, secondo le ricchezze della sua grazia; 8della quale Egli è stato abbondante in verso noi, dandoci ogni sorta di sapienza e di intelligenza, 9col farci conoscere il mistero della sua volontà, giusta il disegno benevolo ch’Egli aveva già prima in se stesso formato, 10per tradurlo in atto nella pienezza dei tempi, e che consiste nel raccogliere sotto un sol capo, in Cristo, tutte le cose: tanto quelle che son nei cieli, quanto quelle che son sopra la terra. 11In lui, dico, nel quale siamo pur stati fatti eredi, a ciò predestinati conforme al proposito di Colui che opera tutte le cose secondo il consiglio della propria volontà, 12affinché fossimo a lode della sua gloria, noi, che per i primi abbiamo sperato in Cristo. 13In lui voi pure, dopo avere udito la parola della verità, l’evangelo della vostra salvazione, in lui avendo creduto, avete ricevuto il suggello dello Spirito Santo che era stato promesso, 14il quale è pegno della nostra eredità fino alla piena redenzione di quelli che Dio s’è acquistati, a lode della sua gloria. 15Perciò anch’io, avendo udito parlare della fede vostra nel Signor Gesù e del vostro amore per tutti i santi, 16non resto mai dal render grazie per voi, facendo di voi menzione nelle mie orazioni, 17affinché l’Iddio del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, il Padre della gloria, vi dia uno spirito di sapienza e di rivelazione per la piena conoscenza di lui, 18ed illumini gli occhi del vostro cuore, affinché sappiate a quale speranza Egli v’abbia chiamati, qual sia la ricchezza della gloria della sua eredità nei santi, 19e qual sia verso noi che crediamo, l’immensità della sua potenza. 20La qual potente efficacia della sua forza Egli ha spiegata in Cristo, quando lo risuscitò dai morti e lo fece sedere alla propria destra ne’ luoghi celesti, 21al di sopra di ogni principato e autorità e potestà e signoria, e d’ogni altro nome che si nomina non solo in questo mondo, ma anche in quello a venire. 22Ogni cosa Ei gli ha posta sotto ai piedi, e l’ha dato per capo supremo alla Chiesa, 23che è il corpo di lui, il compimento di colui che porta a compimento ogni cosa in tutti.
1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints who are at Ephesus, and the faithful in Christ Jesus: 2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; 4even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love; 5having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire, 6to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely bestowed favor on us in the Beloved, 7in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him 10to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, in him; 11in whom also we were assigned an inheritance, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his will; 12to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ: 13in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory. 15For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which you have toward all the saints, 16don’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, 17that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; 18having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might 20which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. 22He put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the assembly, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
1Paulus, een apostel van Jezus Christus, door den wil van God, aan de heiligen, die te Efeze zijn, en gelovigen in Christus Jezus: 2Genade zij u en vrede van God, onzen Vader, en den Heere Jezus Christus. 3Gezegend zij de God en Vader van onzen Heere Jezus Christus, Die ons gezegend heeft met alle geestelijke zegening in den hemel in Christus. 4Gelijk Hij ons uitverkoren heeft in Hem, voor de grondlegging der wereld, opdat wij zouden heilig en onberispelijk zijn voor Hem in de liefde; 5Die ons te voren verordineerd heeft tot aanneming tot kinderen, door Jezus Christus, in Zichzelven, naar het welbehagen van Zijn wil. 6Tot prijs der heerlijkheid Zijner genade, door welke Hij ons begenadigd heeft in den Geliefde; 7In Welken wij hebben de verlossing door Zijn bloed, namelijk de vergeving der misdaden, naar den rijkdom Zijner genade, 8Met welke Hij overvloedig is geweest over ons in alle wijsheid en voorzichtigheid; 9Ons bekend gemaakt hebbende de verborgenheid van Zijn wil, naar Zijn welbehagen, hetwelk Hij voorgenomen had in Zichzelven. 10Om in de bedeling van de volheid der tijden, wederom alles tot een te vergaderen in Christus, beide dat in den hemel is, en dat op de aarde is; 11In Hem, in Welken wij ook een erfdeel geworden zijn, wij, die te voren verordineerd waren naar het voornemen Desgenen, Die alle dingen werkt naar den raad van Zijn wil; 12Opdat wij zouden zijn tot prijs Zijner heerlijkheid, wij, die eerst in Christus gehoopt hebben. 13In Welken ook gij zijt, nadat gij het woord der waarheid, namelijk het Evangelie uwer zaligheid gehoord hebt; in Welken gij ook, nadat gij geloofd hebt, zijt verzegeld geworden met den Heiligen Geest der belofte; 14Die het onderpand is van onze erfenis, tot de verkregene verlossing, tot prijs Zijner heerlijkheid. 15Daarom ook ik, gehoord hebbende het geloof in den Heere Jezus, dat onder u is, en de liefde tot al de heiligen, 16Houde niet op voor u te danken, gedenkende uwer in mijn gebeden; 17Opdat de God van onzen Heere Jezus Christus, de Vader der heerlijkheid, u geve den Geest der wijsheid en der openbaring in Zijn kennis; 18Namelijk verlichte ogen uws verstands, opdat gij moogt weten, welke zij de hoop van Zijn roeping, en welke de rijkdom zij der heerlijkheid van Zijn erfenis in de heiligen; 19En welke de uitnemende grootheid Zijner kracht zij aan ons, die geloven, naar de werking der sterkte Zijner macht, 20Die Hij gewrocht heeft in Christus, als Hij Hem uit de doden heeft opgewekt; en heeft Hem gezet tot Zijn rechter hand in den hemel; 21Verre boven alle overheid, en macht, en kracht, en heerschappij, en allen naam, die genaamd wordt, niet alleen in deze wereld, maar ook in de toekomende; 22En heeft alle dingen Zijn voeten onderworpen, en heeft Hem der Gemeente gegeven tot een Hoofd boven alle dingen; 23Welke Zijn lichaam is, en de vervulling Desgenen, Die alles in allen vervult.
