1Poi il re Davide disse a tutta la raunanza: "Salomone, mio figliuolo, il solo che Dio abbia scelto, è ancora giovine e in tenera età, e l’opera è grande; poiché questo palazzo non è destinato a un uomo, ma a Dio, all’Eterno. 2Ora io ho impiegato tutte le mie forze a preparare per la casa del mio Dio dell’oro per ciò che dev’esser d’oro, dell’argento per ciò che deve esser d’argento, del rame per ciò che dev’esser di rame, del ferro per ciò che dev’esser di ferro, e del legname per ciò che dev’esser di legno, delle pietre d’onice e delle pietre da incastonare, delle pietre brillanti e di diversi colori, ogni specie di pietre preziose, e del marmo bianco in gran quantità. 3Di più, per l’affezione che porto alla casa del mio Dio, siccome io posseggo in proprio un tesoro d’oro e d’argento, io lo do alla casa del mio Dio, oltre a tutto quello che ho preparato per la casa del santuario: 4cioè tremila talenti d’oro, d’oro d’Ofir, e settemila talenti d’argento purissimo, per rivestirne le pareti delle sale: 5l’oro per ciò che dev’esser d’oro, l’argento per ciò che dev’esser d’argento, e per tutti i lavori da eseguirsi dagli artefici. Chi è disposto a fare oggi qualche offerta all’Eterno?" 6Allora i capi delle case patriarcali, i capi delle tribù d’Israele, i capi delle migliaia e delle centinaia e gli amministratori degli affari del re fecero delle offerte volontarie; 7e diedero per il servizio della casa di Dio cinquemila talenti d’oro, diecimila dariche, diecimila talenti d’argento, diciottomila talenti di rame, e centomila talenti di ferro. 8Quelli che possedevano delle pietre preziose, le consegnarono a Jehiel, il Ghershonita, perché fossero riposte nel tesoro della casa dell’Eterno. 9Il popolo si rallegrò di quelle loro offerte volontarie, perché avean fatte quelle offerte all’Eterno con tutto il cuore; e anche il re Davide se ne rallegrò grandemente. 10Davide benedisse l’Eterno in presenza di tutta la raunanza, e disse: "Benedetto sii tu, o Eterno, Dio del padre nostro Israele, di secolo in secolo! 11A te, o Eterno, la grandezza, la potenza, la gloria, lo splendore, la maestà, poiché tutto quello che sta in cielo e sulla terra e tuo! A te, o Eterno, il regno; a te, che t’innalzi come sovrano al disopra di tutte le cose! 12Da te vengono la ricchezza e la gloria; tu signoreggi su tutto; in tua mano sono la forza e la potenza, e sta in tuo potere il far grande e il render forte ogni cosa. 13Or dunque, o Dio nostro, noi ti rendiamo grazie, e celebriamo il tuo nome glorioso. 14Poiché chi son io, e chi è il mio popolo, che siamo in grado di offrirti volenterosamente cotanto? Giacché tutto viene da te; e noi t’abbiam dato quello che dalla tua mano abbiam ricevuto. 15Noi siamo dinanzi a te dei forestieri e dei pellegrini, come furon tutti i nostri padri; i nostri giorni sulla terra son come un’ombra, e non v’è speranza. 16O Eterno, Dio nostro, tutta quest’abbondanza di cose che abbiam preparata per edificare una casa a te, al tuo santo nome, viene dalla tua mano, e tutta ti appartiene. 17Io so, o mio Dio, che tu scruti il cuore, e ti compiaci della rettitudine; perciò, nella rettitudine del cuor mio, t’ho fatte tutte queste offerte volontarie, e ho veduto ora con gioia il tuo popolo che si trova qui, farti volenterosamente le offerte sue. 18O Eterno, o Dio d’Abrahamo, d’Isacco e d’Israele nostri padri, mantieni in perpetuo nel cuore del tuo popolo queste disposizioni, questi pensieri, e rendi saldo il suo cuore in te; 19e da’ a Salomone, mio figliuolo, un cuore integro, affinch’egli osservi i tuoi comandamenti, i tuoi precetti e le tue leggi, affinché eseguisca tutti questi miei piani, e costruisca il palazzo, per il quale ho fatto i preparativi". 20Poi Davide disse a tutta la raunanza: "Or benedite l’Eterno, il vostro Dio". E tutta la raunanza benedì l’Eterno, l’Iddio de’ loro padri; e s’inchinarono, e si prostrarono dinanzi all’Eterno e dinanzi al re. 21E il giorno seguente immolarono delle vittime in onore dell’Eterno, e gli offrirono degli olocausti: mille giovenchi, mille montoni, mille agnelli, con le relative libazioni, e altri sacrifizi in gran numero, per tutto Israele. 22E mangiarono e bevvero, in quel giorno, nel cospetto dell’Eterno, con gran gioia; proclamarono re, per la seconda volta, Salomone, figliuolo di Davide, e lo unsero, consacrandolo all’Eterno come conduttore del popolo, e unsero Tsadok come sacerdote. 23Salomone si assise dunque sul trono dell’Eterno come re, invece di Davide suo padre; prosperò, e tutto Israele gli ubbidì. 24E tutti i capi, gli uomini prodi e anche tutti i figliuoli del re Davide si sottomisero al re Salomone. 25E l’Eterno innalzò sommamente Salomone nel cospetto di tutto Israele, e gli diede un regale splendore, quale nessun re, prima di lui, ebbe mai in Israele. 26Davide, figliuolo d’Isai, regnò su tutto Israele. 27Il tempo che regnò sopra Israele fu quarant’anni: a Hebron regnò sette anni; e a Gerusalemme, trentatre. 28Morì in prospera vecchiezza, sazio di giorni, di ricchezze, e di gloria; e Salomone, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo. 1David the king said to all the assembly, “Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great; for the palace is not for man, but for Yahweh God. 2Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the things of silver, and the brass for the things of brass, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, stones for inlaid work, and of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. 3In addition, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, since I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, 4even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses; 5of gold for the things of gold, and of silver for the things of silver, and for all kinds of work to be made by the hands of artisans. Who then offers willingly to consecrate himself this day to Yahweh?” 6Then the princes of the fathers’ households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king’s work, offered willingly; 7and they gave for the service of God’s house of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand darics, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and of iron a hundred thousand talents. 8They with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of Yahweh’s house, under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to Yahweh: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. 10Therefore David blessed Yahweh before all the assembly; and David said, “You are blessed, Yahweh, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, Yahweh, and you are exalted as head above all. 12Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all; and in your hand is power and might; and it is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all. 13Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name. 14But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. 15For we are strangers before you, and foreigners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no remaining. 16Yahweh our God, all this store that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name comes from your hand, and is all your own. 17I know also, my God, that you try the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things. Now have I seen with joy your people, that are present here, offer willingly to you. 18Yahweh, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and prepare their heart for you; 19and give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision.” 20David said to all the assembly, “Now bless Yahweh your God!” All the assembly blessed Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads and prostrated themselves before Yahweh and the king. 21They sacrificed sacrifices to Yahweh, and offered burnt offerings to Yahweh, on the next day after that day, even one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, and one thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel, 22and ate and drink before Yahweh on that day with great gladness. They made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him to Yahweh to be prince, and Zadok to be priest. 23Then Solomon sat on the throne of Yahweh as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. 24All the princes, the mighty men, and also all of the sons of king David submitted themselves to Solomon the king. 25Yahweh magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel. 26Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. 27The time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem. 28He died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor: and Solomon his son reigned in his place. 29Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Samuel the seer, and in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the history of Gad the seer, 30with all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
1Verder zeide de koning David tot de ganse gemeente: God heeft mijn zoon Salomo alleen verkoren, een jongeling en teder; dit werk daarentegen is groot, want het is geen paleis voor een mens, maar voor God, den HEERE. 2Ik heb nu uit al mijn kracht bereid tot het huis mijns Gods, goud tot gouden, en zilver tot zilveren, en koper tot koperen, ijzer tot ijzeren, en hout tot houten werken; sardonixstenen en vervullende stenen, versierstenen en borduursel, en allerlei kostelijke stenen, en marmerstenen in menigte. 3En daartoe, uit mijn welgevallen tot het huis mijns Gods, geef ik het bijzonder goud en zilver, dat ik heb, tot het huis mijns Gods daarenboven, behalve al wat ik ten huize des heiligdoms bereid heb; 4Drie duizend talenten gouds, van het goud van Ofir, en zeven duizend talenten gelouterd zilver, om de wanden der huizen te overtrekken; 5Goud tot de gouden, en zilver tot de zilveren vaten, en tot alle werk, door de hand der werkmeesteren te maken. En wie is er willig, heden zijn hand den HEERE te vullen? 6Toen gaven vrijwillig de oversten der vaderen, en de oversten der stammen van Israel, en de oversten der duizenden en der honderden, en de oversten van het werk des konings; 7En zij gaven, tot den dienst van het huis Gods, vijf duizend talenten gouds, en tien duizend drachmen, en tien duizend talenten zilvers, en achttien duizend talenten kopers, en honderd duizend talenten ijzers. 8En bij wien stenen gevonden werden, die gaven zij in den schat van het huis des HEEREN, onder de hand van Jehiel, den Gersoniet. 9En het volk was verblijd over hun vrijwillig geven; want zij gaven met een volkomen hart den HEERE vrijwillig; en de koning David verblijdde zich ook met grote blijdschap. 10Daarom loofde David den HEERE voor de ogen der ganse gemeente; en David zeide: Geloofd zijt Gij, HEERE, God van onzen vader Israel, van eeuwigheid tot in eeuwigheid! 11Uw, o HEERE, is de grootheid, en de macht, en de heerlijkheid, en de overwinning, en de majesteit; want alles, wat in den hemel en op aarde is, is Uw: Uw, o HEERE, is het Koninkrijk, en Gij hebt U verhoogd tot een Hoofd boven alles. 12En rijkdom en eer zijn voor Uw aangezicht, en Gij heerst over alles; en in Uw hand is kracht en macht; ook staat het in Uw hand alles groot te maken en sterk te maken. 13Nu dan, onze God, wij danken U, en loven den Naam Uwer heerlijkheid. 14Want wie ben ik, en wat is mijn volk, dat wij de macht zouden verkregen hebben, om vrijwillig te geven als dit is? Want het is alles van U, en wij geven het U uit Uw hand. 15Want wij zijn vreemdelingen en bijwoners voor Uw aangezicht, gelijk al onze vaders; onze dagen op aarde zijn als een schaduw, en er is geen verwachting. 16HEERE, onze God, al deze menigte, die wij bereid hebben om U een huis te bouwen, den Naam Uwer heiligheid, dat is van Uw hand, en het is alles Uw. 17En ik weet, mijn God, dat Gij het hart proeft, en dat Gij een welgevallen hebt aan oprechtigheden. Ik heb in oprechtigheid mijns harten al deze dingen vrijwillig gegeven, en ik heb nu met vreugde Uw volk, dat hier bevonden wordt, gezien, dat het zich jegens U vrijwillig gedragen heeft. 18O HEERE, Gij, God onzer vaderen, Abraham, Izak en Israel, bewaar dit in der eeuwigheid in den zin der gedachten van het hart Uws volks, en richt hun hart tot U. 19En geef mijn zoon Salomo een volkomen hart, om te houden Uw geboden, Uw getuigenissen en Uw inzettingen; en om alles te doen, en om dit paleis te bouwen, hetwelk ik bereid heb. 20Daarna zeide David tot de ganse gemeente: Looft nu den HEERE, uw God! Toen loofde de ganse gemeente den HEERE, den God hunner vaderen; en zij neigden het hoofd, en zij bogen zich neder voor den HEERE, en voor den koning. 21En zij offerden den HEERE slachtofferen; ook offerden zij den HEERE brandofferen, des anderen morgens van dien dag, duizend varren, duizend rammen, duizend lammeren, met hun drankofferen; en slachtofferen in menigte, voor gans Israel. 22En zij aten en dronken deszelven daags voor het aangezicht des HEEREN met grote vreugde; en zij maakten Salomo, den zoon van David, ten andere male koning, en zij zalfden hem den HEERE tot voorganger, en Zadok tot priester. 23Alzo zat Salomo op den troon des HEEREN, als koning in zijns vaders Davids plaats, en hij was voorspoedig; en gans Israel hoorde naar hem. 24En al de vorsten, en helden, ja, ook al de zonen van den koning David, gaven de hand, dat zij onder den koning Salomo zijn zouden. 25En de HEERE maakte Salomo groot ten hoogste voor de ogen van gans Israel; en Hij gaf aan hem een koninklijke majesteit, zodanige aan geen koning van Israel voor hem geweest is. 26Zo heeft dan David, de zoon van Isai, geregeerd over gans Israel. 27De dagen nu, die hij geregeerd heeft over Israel, zijn veertig jaren; te Hebron regeerde hij zeven jaren, en te Jeruzalem regeerde hij drie en dertig. 28En hij stierf in goeden ouderdom, zat van dagen, rijkdom en eer; en zijn zoon Salomo regeerde in zijn plaats. 29De geschiedenissen nu van den koning David, de eerste en de laatste, ziet, die zijn geschreven in de geschiedenissen van Samuel, den ziener, en in de geschiedenissen van den profeet Nathan, en in de geschiedenissen van Gad, den ziener; 30Met al zijn koninkrijk, en zijn macht, en de tijden, die over hem verlopen zijn, en over Israel, en over al de koninkrijken der landen.
