1Six jours après, Jésus prit avec lui Pierre, Jacques, et Jean, son frère, et il les conduisit à l’écart sur une haute montagne. 2Il fut transfiguré devant eux ; son visage resplendit comme le soleil, et ses vêtements devinrent blancs comme la lumière. 3Et voici, Moïse et Élie leur apparurent, s’entretenant avec lui. 4Pierre, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus : Seigneur, il est bon que nous soyons ici ; si tu le veux, je dresserai ici trois tentes, une pour toi, une pour Moïse, et une pour Élie. 5Comme il parlait encore, une nuée lumineuse les couvrit. Et voici, une voix fit entendre de la nuée ces paroles : Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui j’ai mis toute mon affection : écoutez-le ! 6Lorsqu’ils entendirent cette voix, les disciples tombèrent sur leur face, et furent saisis d’une grande frayeur. 7Mais Jésus, s’approchant, les toucha, et dit : Levez-vous, n’ayez pas peur ! 8Ils levèrent les yeux, et ne virent que Jésus seul. 9Comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur donna cet ordre : Ne parlez à personne de cette vision, jusqu’à ce que le Fils de l’homme soit ressuscité des morts. 10Les disciples lui firent cette question : Pourquoi donc les scribes disent-ils qu’Élie doit venir premièrement ? 11Il répondit : Il est vrai qu’Élie doit venir , et rétablir toutes choses. 12Mais je vous dis qu’Élie est déjà venu, qu’ils ne l’ont pas reconnu, et qu’ils l’ont traité comme ils ont voulu. De même le Fils de l’homme souffrira de leur part. 13Les disciples comprirent alors qu’il leur parlait de Jean-Baptiste. 14Lorsqu’ils furent arrivés près de la foule, un homme vint se jeter à genoux devant Jésus , et dit : 15Seigneur, aie pitié de mon fils, qui est lunatique, et qui souffre cruellement ; il tombe souvent dans le feu, et souvent dans l’eau. 16Je l’ai amené à tes disciples, et ils n’ont pas pu le guérir. 17Race incrédule et perverse, répondit Jésus, jusques à quand serai-je avec vous ? jusques à quand vous supporterai-je ? Amenez-le-moi ici. 18Jésus parla sévèrement au démon, qui sortit de lui, et l’enfant fut guéri à l’heure même. 19Alors les disciples s’approchèrent de Jésus, et lui dirent en particulier : Pourquoi n’avons-nous pu chasser ce démon ? 20C’est à cause de votre incrédulité, leur dit Jésus. Je vous le dis en vérité, si vous aviez de la foi comme un grain de sénevé, vous diriez à cette montagne : Transporte-toi d’ici là, et elle se transporterait ; rien ne vous serait impossible. 21Mais cette sorte de démon ne sort que par la prière et par le jeûne. 22Pendant qu’ils parcouraient la Galilée, Jésus leur dit : Le Fils de l’homme doit être livré entre les mains des hommes ; 23ils le feront mourir, et le troisième jour il ressuscitera. Ils furent profondément attristés. 24Lorsqu’ils arrivèrent à Capernaüm, ceux qui percevaient les deux drachmes s’adressèrent à Pierre, et lui dirent : Votre maître ne paie-t-il pas les deux drachmes ? 25Oui, dit-il. Et quand il fut entré dans la maison, Jésus le prévint, et dit : Que t’en semble, Simon ? Les rois de la terre, de qui perçoivent-ils des tributs ou des impôts ? de leurs fils, ou des étrangers ? 26Il lui dit : Des étrangers. Et Jésus lui répondit : Les fils en sont donc exempts. 27Mais, pour ne pas les scandaliser, va à la mer, jette l’hameçon, et tire le premier poisson qui viendra ; ouvre-lui la bouche, et tu trouveras un statère. Prends-le, et donne-le-leur pour moi et pour toi.
1After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves. 2He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light. 3Behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with him. 4Peter answered, and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let’s make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.” 6When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid. 7Jesus came and touched them and said, “Get up, and don’t be afraid.” 8Lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone. 9As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Don’t tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.” 10His disciples asked him, saying, “Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 11Jesus answered them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all things, 12but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they didn’t recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them.” 13Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptizer. 14When they came to the multitude, a man came to him, kneeling down to him, saying, 15“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic, and suffers grievously; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water. 16So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him.” 17Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me.” 18Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour. 19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, “Why weren’t we able to cast it out?” 20He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21But this kind doesn’t go out except by prayer and fasting.” 22While they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men, 23and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up.” They were exceedingly sorry. 24When they had come to Capernaum, those who collected the didrachma coins came to Peter, and said, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the didrachma?” 25He said, “Yes.” When he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? From their children, or from strangers?” 26Peter said to him, “From strangers.” Jesus said to him, “Therefore the children are exempt. 27But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened its mouth, you will find a stater coin.Take that, and give it to them for me and you.”
1En na zes dagen nam Jezus met Zich Petrus, en Jakobus, en Johannes, zijn broeder, en bracht hen op een hoge berg alleen. 2En Hij werd voor hen veranderd van gedaante; en Zijn aangezicht blonk gelijk de zon, en Zijn klederen werden wit gelijk het licht. 3En ziet, van hen werden gezien Mozes en Elias, met Hem samensprekende. 4En Petrus, antwoordende, zeide tot Jezus: Heere! het is goed, dat wij hier zijn; zo Gij wilt, laat ons hier drie tabernakelen maken, voor U een, en voor Mozes een, en een voor Elias. 5Terwijl hij nog sprak, ziet, een luchtige wolk heeft hen overschaduwd; en ziet, een stem uit de wolk, zeggende: Deze is Mijn geliefde Zoon, in Denwelken Ik Mijn welbehagen heb; hoort Hem! 6En de discipelen, dit horende, vielen op hun aangezicht, en werden zeer bevreesd. 7En Jezus, bij hen komende, raakte hen aan, en zeide: Staat op en vreest niet. 8En hun ogen opheffende, zagen zij niemand, dan Jezus alleen. 9En als zij van de berg afkwamen, gebood hun Jezus, zeggende: Zegt niemand dit gezicht, totdat de Zoon des mensen zal opgestaan zijn uit de doden. 10En Zijn discipelen vraagden Hem, zeggende: Wat zeggen dan de Schriftgeleerden, dat Elias eerst moet komen? 11Doch Jezus, antwoordende, zeide tot hen: Elias zal wel eerst komen, en alles weder oprichten. 12Maar Ik zeg u, dat Elias nu gekomen is, en zij hebben hem niet gekend; doch zij hebben aan hem gedaan, al wat zij hebben gewild; alzo zal ook de Zoon des mensen van hen lijden. 13Toen verstonden de discipelen dat Hij hun van Johannes de Doper gesproken had. 14En als zij bij de schare gekomen waren, kwam tot Hem een mens, vallende voor Hem op de knieen, en zeggende: 15Heere! ontferm U over mijn zoon; want hij is maanziek, en is in zwaar lijden; want menigmaal valt hij in het vuur, en menigmaal in het water. 16En ik heb hem tot Uw discipelen gebracht, en zij hebben hem niet kunnen genezen. 17En Jezus, antwoordende, zeide: O, ongelovig en verkeerd geslacht, hoe lang zal Ik nog met ulieden zijn, hoe lang zal Ik u nog verdragen? Brengt hem Mij hier. 18En Jezus bestrafte hem, en de duivel ging van hem uit, en het kind werd genezen van die ure af. 19Toen kwamen de discipelen tot Jezus alleen, en zeiden: Waarom hebben wij hem niet kunnen uitwerpen? 20En Jezus zeide tot hen: Om uws ongeloofs wil; want voorwaar zeg Ik u: Zo gij een geloof hadt als een mosterdzaad, gij zoudt tot deze berg zeggen: Ga heen van hier derwaarts, en hij zal heengaan; en niets zal u onmogelijk zijn. 21Maar dit geslacht vaart niet uit, dan door bidden en vasten. 22En als zij in Galilea verkeerden, zeide Jezus tot hen: De Zoon des mensen zal overgeleverd worden in de handen der mensen; 23En zij zullen Hem doden, en ten derden dage zal Hij opgewekt worden. En zij werden zeer bedroefd. 24En als zij te Kapernaum ingekomen waren, gingen tot Petrus die de didrachmen ontvingen, en zeiden: Uw Meester, betaalt Hij de didrachmen niet? 25Hij zeide: Ja. En toen hij in huis gekomen was, voorkwam hem Jezus, zeggende: Wat dunkt u, Simon! de koningen der aarde, van wie nemen zij tollen of schatting, van hun zonen, of van de vreemden? 26Petrus zeide tot Hem: Van de vreemden. Jezus zeide tot hem: Zo zijn dan de zonen vrij. 27Maar opdat wij hun geen aanstoot geven, ga heen naar de zee, werp de angel uit, en de eerste vis, die opkomt, neem, en zijn mond geopend hebbende, zult gij een stater vinden; neem die, en geef hem aan hen voor Mij en u.
