1Le premier jour de la semaine, elles se rendirent au sépulcre de grand matin, portant les aromates qu’elles avaient préparés. 2Elles trouvèrent que la pierre avait été roulée de devant le sépulcre ; 3et, étant entrées, elles ne trouvèrent pas le corps du Seigneur Jésus. 4Comme elles ne savaient que penser de cela, voici, deux hommes leur apparurent, en habits resplendissants. 5Saisies de frayeur, elles baissèrent le visage contre terre ; mais ils leur dirent : Pourquoi cherchez-vous parmi les morts celui qui est vivant ? 6Il n’est point ici, mais il est ressuscité. Souvenez-vous de quelle manière il vous a parlé, lorsqu’il était encore en Galilée, 7et qu’il disait : Il faut que le Fils de l’homme soit livré entre les mains des pécheurs, qu’il soit crucifié, et qu’il ressuscite le troisième jour. 8Et elles se ressouvinrent des paroles de Jésus. 9À leur retour du sépulcre, elles annoncèrent toutes ces choses aux onze, et à tous les autres. 10Celles qui dirent ces choses aux apôtres étaient Marie de Magdala, Jeanne, Marie, mère de Jacques, et les autres qui étaient avec elles. 11Ils tinrent ces discours pour des rêveries , et ils ne crurent pas ces femmes. 12Mais Pierre se leva, et courut au sépulcre. S’étant baissé, il ne vit que les linges qui étaient à terre ; puis il s’en alla chez lui, dans l’étonnement de ce qui était arrivé. 13Et voici, ce même jour, deux disciples allaient à un village nommé Emmaüs, éloigné de Jérusalem de soixante stades ; 14et ils s’entretenaient de tout ce qui s’était passé. 15Pendant qu’ils parlaient et discutaient, Jésus s’approcha, et fit route avec eux. 16Mais leurs yeux étaient empêchés de le reconnaître . 17Il leur dit : De quoi vous entretenez-vous en marchant, pour que vous soyez tout tristes ? 18L’un d’eux, nommé Cléopas, lui répondit : Es-tu le seul qui, séjournant à Jérusalem ne sache pas ce qui y est arrivé ces jours-ci ? - 19Quoi ? leur dit-il. Et ils lui répondirent : Ce qui est arrivé au sujet de Jésus de Nazareth, qui était un prophète puissant en œuvres et en paroles devant Dieu et devant tout le peuple, 20et comment les principaux sacrificateurs et nos magistrats l’ont livré pour le faire condamner à mort et l’ont crucifié. 21Nous espérions que ce serait lui qui délivrerait Israël ; mais avec tout cela, voici le troisième jour que ces choses se sont passées. 22Il est vrai que quelques femmes d’entre nous nous ont fort étonnés ; s’étant rendues de grand matin au sépulcre 23et n’ayant pas trouvé son corps, elles sont venues dire que des anges leur sont apparus et ont annoncé qu’il est vivant. 24Quelques-uns de ceux qui étaient avec nous sont allés au sépulcre, et ils ont trouvé les choses comme les femmes l’avaient dit ; mais lui, ils ne l’ont point vu. 25Alors Jésus leur dit : Ô hommes sans intelligence, et dont le cœur est lent à croire tout ce qu’ont dit les prophètes ! 26Ne fallait-il pas que le Christ souffrît ces choses, et qu’il entrât dans sa gloire ? 27Et, commençant par Moïse et par tous les prophètes, il leur expliqua dans toutes les Écritures ce qui le concernait. 28Lorsqu’ils furent près du village où ils allaient, il parut vouloir aller plus loin. 29Mais ils le pressèrent, en disant : Reste avec nous, car le soir approche, le jour est sur son déclin. Et il entra, pour rester avec eux. 30Pendant qu’il était à table avec eux, il prit le pain ; et, après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit, et le leur donna. 31Alors leurs yeux s’ouvrirent, et ils le reconnurent ; mais il disparut de devant eux. 32Et ils se dirent l’un à l’autre : Notre cœur ne brûlait-il pas au dedans de nous, lorsqu’il nous parlait en chemin et nous expliquait les Écritures ? 33Se levant à l’heure même, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem, et ils trouvèrent les onze, et ceux qui étaient avec eux, assemblés 34et disant : Le Seigneur est réellement ressuscité, et il est apparu à Simon. 35Et ils racontèrent ce qui leur était arrivé en chemin, et comment ils l’avaient reconnu au moment où il rompit le pain. 36Tandis qu’ils parlaient de la sorte, lui-même se présenta au milieu d’eux, et leur dit : La paix soit avec vous ! 37Saisis de frayeur et d’épouvante, ils croyaient voir un esprit. 38Mais il leur dit : Pourquoi êtes-vous troublés, et pourquoi pareilles pensées s’élèvent-elles dans vos cœurs ? 39Voyez mes mains et mes pieds, c’est bien moi ; touchez-moi et voyez : un esprit n’a ni chair ni os, comme vous voyez que j’ai. 40Et en disant cela, il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds. 41Comme, dans leur joie, ils ne croyaient point encore, et qu’ils étaient dans l’étonnement, il leur dit : Avez-vous ici quelque chose à manger ? 42Ils lui présentèrent du poisson rôti et un rayon de miel. 43Il en prit, et il mangea devant eux. 44Puis il leur dit : C’est là ce que je vous disais lorsque j’étais encore avec vous, qu’il fallait que s’accomplît tout ce qui est écrit de moi dans la loi de Moïse, dans les prophètes, et dans les psaumes. 45Alors il leur ouvrit l’esprit, afin qu’ils comprissent les Écritures. 46Et il leur dit : Ainsi il est écrit que le Christ souffrirait, et qu’il ressusciterait des morts le troisième jour, 47et que la repentance et le pardon des péchés seraient prêchés en son nom à toutes les nations, à commencer par Jérusalem. 48Vous êtes témoins de ces choses. 49Et voici, j’enverrai sur vous ce que mon Père a promis ; mais vous, restez dans la ville jusqu’à ce que vous soyez revêtus de la puissance d’en haut. 50Il les conduisit jusque vers Béthanie, et, ayant levé les mains, il les bénit. 51Pendant qu’il les bénissait, il se sépara d’eux, et fut enlevé au ciel. 52Pour eux, après l’avoir adoré, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem avec une grande joie ; 53et ils étaient continuellement dans le temple, louant et bénissant Dieu.
1But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they and some others came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. 3They entered in, and didn’t find the Lord Jesus’ body. 4While they were greatly perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling clothing. 5Becoming terrified, they bowed their faces down to the earth. They said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6He isn’t here, but is risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee, 7saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again?” 8They remembered his words, 9returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest. 10Now they were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James. The other women with them told these things to the apostles. 11These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn’t believe them. 12But Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Stooping and looking in, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he departed to his home, wondering what had happened. 13Behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem. 14They talked with each other about all of these things which had happened. 15While they talked and questioned together, Jesus himself came near, and went with them. 16But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17He said to them, “What are you talking about as you walk, and are sad?” 18One of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who doesn’t know the things which have happened there in these days?” 19He said to them, “What things?” They said to him, “The things concerning Jesus, the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people; 20and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21But we were hoping that it was he who would redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. 22Also, certain women of our company amazed us, having arrived early at the tomb; 23and when they didn’t find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. 24Some of us went to the tomb, and found it just like the women had said, but they didn’t see him.” 25He said to them, “Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26Didn’t the Christ have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?” 27Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. 28They drew near to the village, where they were going, and he acted like he would go further. 29They urged him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is almost over.” He went in to stay with them. 30When he had sat down at the table with them, he took the bread and gave thanks. Breaking it, he gave to them. 31Their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he vanished out of their sight. 32They said one to another, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us, while he spoke to us along the way, and while he opened the Scriptures to us?” 33They rose up that very hour, returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them, 34saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” 35They related the things that happened along the way, and how he was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread. 36As they said these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be to you.” 37But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38He said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.” 40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41While they still didn’t believe for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42They gave him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43He took them, and ate in front of them. 44He said to them, “This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled.” 45Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures. 46He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49Behold, I send out the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.” 50He led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 51While he blessed them, he withdrew from them, and was carried up into heaven. 52They worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. En zij zeiden tot Hem: De dingen aangaande Jezus den Nazarener, Welke een Profeet was, krachtig in werken en woorden, voor God en al het volk. 20En hoe onze overpriesters en oversten Denzelven overgeleverd hebben tot het oordeel des doods, en Hem gekruisigd hebben. 21En wij hoopten, dat Hij was Degene, Die Israel verlossen zou. Doch ook, benevens dit alles, is het heden de derde dag, van dat deze dingen geschied zijn. 22Maar ook sommige vrouwen uit ons hebben ons ontsteld, die vroeg in den morgenstond aan het graf geweest zijn; 23En Zijn lichaam niet vindende, kwamen zij en zeiden, dat zij ook een gezicht van engelen gezien hadden, die zeggen, dat Hij leeft. 24En sommigen dergenen, die met ons zijn, gingen heen tot het graf, en bevonden het alzo, gelijk ook de vrouwen gezegd hadden; maar Hem zagen zij niet. 25En Hij zeide tot hen: O onverstandigen en tragen van hart, om te geloven al hetgeen de profeten gesproken hebben! 26Moest de Christus niet deze dingen lijden, en alzo in Zijn heerlijkheid ingaan? 27En begonnen hebbende van Mozes en van al de profeten, legde Hij hun uit, in al de Schriften, hetgeen van Hem geschreven was. 28En zij kwamen nabij het vlek, daar zij naar toegingen; en Hij hield Zich, alsof Hij verder gaan zou. 29En zij dwongen Hem, zeggende: Blijf met ons; want het is bij den avond, en de dag is gedaald. En Hij ging in, om met hen te blijven. 30En het geschiedde, als Hij met hen aanzat, nam Hij het brood, en zegende het, en als Hij het gebroken had, gaf Hij het hun. 31En hun ogen werden geopend, en zij kenden Hem; en Hij kwam weg uit hun gezicht. 32En zij zeiden tot elkander: Was ons hart niet brandende in ons, als Hij tot ons sprak op den weg, en als Hij ons de Schriften opende? 33En zij, opstaande ter zelfder ure, keerden weder naar Jeruzalem, en vonden de elven samenvergaderd, en die met hen waren; 34Welke zeiden: De Heere is waarlijk opgestaan, en is van Simon gezien. 35En zij vertelden, hetgeen op den weg geschied was, en hoe Hij hun bekend was geworden in het breken des broods. 36En als zij van deze dingen spraken, stond Jezus Zelf in het midden van hen, en zeide tot hen: Vrede zij ulieden! 37En zij verschrikt en zeer bevreesd geworden zijnde, meenden, dat zij een geest zagen. 38En Hij zeide tot hen: Wat zijt gij ontroerd, en waarom klimmen zulke overleggingen in uw harten? 39Ziet Mijn handen en Mijn voeten; want Ik ben het Zelf; tast Mij aan, en ziet; want een geest heeft geen vlees en benen, gelijk gij ziet, dat Ik heb. 40En als Hij dit zeide, toonde Hij hun de handen en de voeten. 41En toen zij het van blijdschap nog niet geloofden, en zich verwonderden, zeide Hij tot hen: Hebt gij hier iets om te eten? 42En zij gaven Hem een stuk van een gebraden vis, en van honigraten. 43En Hij nam het, en at het voor hun ogen. 44En Hij zeide tot hen: Dit zijn de woorden, die Ik tot u sprak, als Ik nog met u was, namelijk dat het alles moest vervuld worden, wat van Mij geschreven is in de Wet van Mozes, en de Profeten, en Psalmen. 45Toen opende Hij hun verstand, opdat zij de Schriften verstonden. 46En zeide tot hen: Alzo is er geschreven, en alzo moest de Christus lijden, en van de doden opstaan ten derden dage. 47En in Zijn Naam gepredikt worden bekering en vergeving der zonden, onder alle volken, beginnende van Jeruzalem. 48En gij zijt getuigen van deze dingen. 49En ziet, Ik zende de belofte Mijns Vaders op u; maar blijft gij in de stad Jeruzalem, totdat gij zult aangedaan zijn met kracht uit de hoogte. 50En Hij leidde hen buiten tot aan Bethanie, en Zijn handen opheffende, zegende Hij hen. 51En het geschiedde, als Hij hen zegende, dat Hij van hen scheidde, en werd opgenomen in den hemel. 52En zij aanbaden Hem, en keerden weder naar Jeruzalem met grote blijdschap. 53En zij waren allen tijd in den tempel, lovende en dankende God.
