1Trois jours après, il y eut des noces à Cana en Galilée. La mère de Jésus était là, 2et Jésus fut aussi invité aux noces avec ses disciples. 3Le vin ayant manqué, la mère de Jésus lui dit : Ils n’ont plus de vin. 4Jésus lui répondit : Femme, qu’y a-t-il entre moi et toi ? Mon heure n’est pas encore venue. 5Sa mère dit aux serviteurs : Faites ce qu’il vous dira. 6Or, il y avait là six vases de pierre, destinés aux purifications des Juifs, et contenant chacun deux ou trois mesures. 7Jésus leur dit : Remplissez d’eau ces vases. Et ils les remplirent jusqu’au bord. 8Puisez maintenant, leur dit-il, et portez-en à l’ordonnateur du repas. Et ils en portèrent. 9Quand l’ordonnateur du repas eut goûté l’eau changée en vin, - ne sachant d’où venait ce vin, tandis que les serviteurs, qui avaient puisé l’eau, le savaient bien, -il appela l’époux, 10et lui dit : Tout homme sert d’abord le bon vin, puis le moins bon après qu’on s’est enivré ; toi, tu as gardé le bon vin jusqu’à présent. 11Tel fut, à Cana en Galilée, le premier des miracles que fit Jésus. Il manifesta sa gloire, et ses disciples crurent en lui. 12Après cela, il descendit à Capernaüm, avec sa mère, ses frères et ses disciples, et ils n’y demeurèrent que peu de jours. 13La Pâque des Juifs était proche, et Jésus monta à Jérusalem. 14Il trouva dans le temple les vendeurs de bœufs, de brebis et de pigeons, et les changeurs assis. 15Ayant fait un fouet avec des cordes, il les chassa tous du temple, ainsi que les brebis et les bœufs ; il dispersa la monnaie des changeurs, et renversa les tables ; 16et il dit aux vendeurs de pigeons : Otez cela d’ici, ne faites pas de la maison de mon Père une maison de trafic. 17Ses disciples se souvinrent qu’il est écrit : Le zèle de ta maison me dévore. 18Les Juifs , prenant la parole, lui dirent : Quel miracle nous montres-tu, pour agir de la sorte ? 19Jésus leur répondit : Détruisez ce temple, et en trois jours je le relèverai. 20Les Juifs dirent : Il a fallu quarante-six ans pour bâtir ce temple, et toi, en trois jours tu le relèveras ! 21Mais il parlait du temple de son corps. 22C’est pourquoi, lorsqu’il fut ressuscité des morts, ses disciples se souvinrent qu’il avait dit cela, et ils crurent à l’Écriture et à la parole que Jésus avait dite. 23Pendant que Jésus était à Jérusalem, à la fête de Pâque, plusieurs crurent en son nom, voyant les miracles qu’il faisait. 24Mais Jésus ne se fiait point à eux, parce qu’il les connaissait tous, 25et parce qu’il n’avait pas besoin qu’on lui rendît témoignage d’aucun homme ; car il savait lui-même ce qui était dans l’homme.
1The third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there. 2Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the marriage. 3When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine.” 4Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come.” 5His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.” 6Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jews’ way of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece. 7Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” They filled them up to the brim. 8He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast.” So they took it. 9When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and didn’t know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom, 10and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!” 11This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. 12After this, he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, his brothers, and his disciples; and they stayed there a few days. 13The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14He found in the temple those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, and the changers of money sitting. 15He made a whip of cords, and threw all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew their tables. 16To those who sold the doves, he said, “Take these things out of here! Don’t make my Father’s house a marketplace!” 17His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will eat me up.” 18The Jews therefore answered him, “What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?” 19Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20The Jews therefore said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple! Will you raise it up in three days?” 21But he spoke of the temple of his body. 22When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. 23Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name, observing his signs which he did. 24But Jesus didn’t trust himself to them, because he knew everyone, 25and because he didn’t need for anyone to testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
1En op den derden dag was er een bruiloft te Kana in Galilea; en de moeder van Jezus was aldaar. 2En Jezus was ook genood, en Zijn discipelen, tot de bruiloft. 3En als er wijn ontbrak, zeide de moeder van Jezus tot Hem: Zij hebben geen wijn. 4Jezus zeide tot haar: Vrouw, wat heb Ik met u te doen? Mijn ure is nog niet gekomen. 5Zijn moeder zeide tot de dienaars: Zo wat Hij ulieden zal zeggen, doet dat. 6En aldaar waren zes stenen watervaten gesteld, naar de reiniging der Joden, elk houdende twee of drie metreten. 7Jezus zeide tot hen: Vult de watervaten met water. En zij vulden ze tot boven toe. 8En Hij zeide tot hen: Schept nu, en draagt het tot den hofmeester; en zij droegen het. 9Als nu de hofmeester het water, dat wijn geworden was, geproefd had (en hij wist niet, van waar de wijn was; maar de dienaren, die het water geschept hadden, wisten het), zo riep de hofmeester den bruidegom. 10En zeide tot hem: Alle man zet eerst den goeden wijn op, en wanneer men wel gedronken heeft, alsdan den minderen; maar gij hebt den goeden wijn tot nu toe bewaard. 11Dit beginsel der tekenen heeft Jezus gedaan te Kana in Galilea, en heeft Zijn heerlijkheid geopenbaard; en Zijn discipelen geloofden in Hem. 12Daarna ging Hij af naar Kapernaum, Hij, en Zijn moeder, en Zijn broeders, en Zijn discipelen; en zij bleven aldaar niet vele dagen. 13En het pascha der Joden was nabij, en Jezus ging op naar Jeruzalem. 14En Hij vond in den tempel, die ossen, en schapen, en duiven verkochten, en de wisselaars daar zittende. 15En een gesel van touwtjes gemaakt hebbende, dreef Hij ze allen uit den tempel, ook de schapen en de ossen; en het geld der wisselaren stortte Hij uit, en keerde de tafelen om. 16En Hij zeide tot degenen, die de duiven verkochten: Neemt deze dingen van hier weg; maakt niet het huis Mijns Vaders tot een huis van koophandel. 17En Zijn discipelen werden indachtig, dat er geschreven is: De ijver van Uw huis heeft mij verslonden. 18De Joden antwoordden dan, en zeiden tot Hem: Wat teken toont Gij ons, dat Gij deze dingen doet? 19Jezus antwoordde en zeide tot hen: Breekt dezen tempel, en in drie dagen zal Ik denzelven oprichten. 20De Joden zeiden dan: Zes en veertig jaren is over dezen tempel gebouwd, en Gij, zult Gij dien in drie dagen oprichten? 21Maar Hij zeide dit van den tempel Zijns lichaams. 22Daarom, als Hij opgestaan was van de doden, werden Zijn discipelen gedachtig, dat Hij dit tot hen gezegd had, en zij geloofden de Schrift, en het woord, dat Jezus gesproken had. 23En als Hij te Jeruzalem was, op het pascha, in het feest, geloofden velen in Zijn Naam, ziende Zijn tekenen, die Hij deed. 24Maar Jezus Zelf betrouwde hun Zichzelven niet, omdat Hij hen allen kende, 25En omdat Hij niet van node had, dat iemand getuigen zou van den mens; want Hij Zelf wist, wat in den mens was.
