1PALABRA que fué á Jeremías de Jehová, cuando el rey Sedechîas envió á él á Pashur hijo de Malchîas, y á Sephanías sacerdote, hijo de Maasías, que le dijesen: 2Pregunta ahora por nosotros á Jehová; porque Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia hace guerra contra nosotros: quizá Jehová hará con nosotros según todas sus maravillas, y aquél se irá de sobre nosotros. 3Y Jeremías les dijo: Diréis así á Sedechîas: 4Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: He aquí yo vuelvo las armas de guerra que están en vuestras manos, y con que vosotros peleáis con el rey de Babilonia; y los Caldeos que os tienen cercados fuera de la muralla, yo los juntaré en medio de esta ciudad. 5Y pelearé contra vosotros con mano alzada y con brazo fuerte, y con furor, y enojo, é ira grande: 6Y heriré los moradores de esta ciudad; y los hombres y las bestias morirán de pestilencia grande. 7Y después, así dice Jehová, entregaré á Sedechîas rey de Judá, y á sus criados, y al pueblo, y á los que quedaren en la ciudad de la pestilencia, y del cuchillo, y del hambre, en mano de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y en mano de sus enemigos, y en mano de los que buscan sus almas; y él los herirá á filo de espada; no los perdonará, ni los recibirá á merced, ni tendrá de ellos misericordia. 8Y á este pueblo dirás: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí pongo delante de vosotros camino de vida y camino de muerte. 9El que se quedare en esta ciudad, morirá á cuchillo, ó de hambre, ó pestilencia: mas el que saliere, y se pasare á los Caldeos que os tienen cercados, vivirá, y su vida le será por despojo. 10Porque mi rostro he puesto contra esta ciudad para mal, y no para bien, dice Jehová: en mano del rey de Babilonia será entregada, y quemarála á fuego. 11Y á la casa del rey de Judá dirás: Oid palabra de Jehová. 12Casa de David, así dijo Jehová: Juzgad de mañana juicio, y librad al oprimido de mano del opresor; porque mi ira no salga como fuego, y se encienda, y no haya quien apague, por la maldad de vuestras obras. 13He aquí yo contra ti, moradora del valle de la piedra de la llanura, dice Jehová: los que decís: ¿Quién subirá contra nosotros? ¿y quién entrará en nuestras moradas? 14Yo os visitaré conforme al fruto de vuestras obras, dice Jehová, y haré encender fuego en su breña, y consumirá todo lo que está alrededor de ella.
1The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when king Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying, 2Please inquire of Yahweh for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us: perhaps Yahweh will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us. 3Then Jeremiah said to them, You shall tell Zedekiah: 4Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans who besiege you, without the walls; and I will gather them into the midst of this city. 5I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation. 6I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and animal: they shall die of a great pestilence. 7Afterward, says Yahweh, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, even such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life: and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy. 8To this people you shall say, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death. 9He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he who goes out, and passes over to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be to him for a prey. 10For I have set my face on this city for evil, and not for good, says Yahweh: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire. 11Touching the house of the king of Judah, hear Yahweh’s word: 12House of David, thus says Yahweh, Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go out like fire, and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. 13Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain, says Yahweh; you that say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations? 14I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, says Yahweh; and I will kindle a fire in her forest, and it shall devour all that is around her.
1Het woord, dat van den HEERE geschied is tot Jeremia, als koning Zekekia tot hem zond Pashur, den zoon van Malchia, en Zefanja, den zoon van Maaseja, den priester, zeggende: 2Vraag toch den HEERE voor ons, want Nebukadrezar, de koning van Babel, strijdt tegen ons; misschien zal de HEERE met ons doen naar al Zijn wonderen, dat hij van ons optrekke. 3Toen zeide Jeremia tot hen: Zo zult gijlieden tot Zedekia zeggen: 4Zo zegt de HEERE, de God Israels: Ziet, Ik zal de krijgswapenen omwenden, die in ulieder hand zijn, met dewelke gij strijdt tegen den koning van Babel en tegen de Chaldeen, die u belegeren, van buiten aan den muur; en Ik zal ze verzamelen in het midden van deze stad. 5En Ik Zelf zal tegen ulieden strijden, met een uitgestrekte hand en met een sterken arm, ja, met toorn, en met grimmigheid, en met grote verbolgenheid. 6En Ik zal de inwoners dezer stad slaan, zowel de mensen als de beesten; door een grote pestilentie zullen zij sterven. 7En daarna, spreekt de HEERE, zal Ik Zedekia, den koning van Juda, en zijn knechten, en het volk, en die in deze stad overgebleven zijn, van de pestilentie, van het zwaard en van den honger, geven in de hand van Nebukadrezar, den koning van Babel, en in de hand hunner vijanden, en in de hand dergenen, die hun ziel zoeken; en hij zal ze slaan met de scherpte des zwaards; hij zal ze niet sparen, noch verschonen, noch zich ontfermen. 8En tot dit volk zult gij zeggen: Zo zegt de HEERE: Ziet, Ik stel voor ulieder aangezicht den weg des levens en den weg des doods. 9Die in deze stad blijft, zal sterven door het zwaard, of door den honger, of door de pestilentie; maar die er uitgaat en valt tot de Chaldeen, die ulieden belegeren, die zal leven, en zijn ziel zal hem tot een buit zijn. 10Want Ik heb Mijn aangezicht tegen deze stad gesteld ten kwade en niet ten goede, spreekt de HEERE; zij zal gegeven worden in de hand des konings van Babel, en hij zal ze met vuur verbranden. 11En aangaande het huis des konings van Juda, hoort des HEEREN woord. 12O huis Davids! zo zegt de HEERE: Richt des morgens recht, en verlost den beroofde uit den hand des verdrukkers; opdat Mijn gramschap niet uitvare als een vuur, en brande, dat niemand blussen kunne, vanwege de boosheid uwer handelingen. 13Ziet, Ik wil aan u, gij inwoneres des dals, gij rots van het plein! spreekt de HEERE; gijlieden, die zegt: Wie zou tegen ons afkomen, of wie zou komen in onze woningen? 14En Ik zal over ulieden bezoeking doen naar de vrucht uwer handelingen, spreekt de HEERE; en Ik zal een vuur aansteken in haar woud, dat zal verteren al wat rondom haar is.
