1DESPUÉS de estas cosas aconteció que David hirió á los Filisteos, y los humilló; y tomó á Gath y sus villas de mano de los Filisteos. 2También hirió á Moab; y los Moabitas fueron siervos de David trayéndole presentes. 3Asimismo hirió David á Adarezer rey de Soba, en Hamath, yendo él á asegurar su dominio al río de Eufrates. 4Y tomóles David mil carros, y siete mil de á caballo, y veinte mil hombres de á pie: y desjarretó David los caballos de todos los carros, excepto los de cien carros que dejó. 5Y viniendo los Siros de Damasco en ayuda de Adarezer rey de Soba, David hirió de los Siros veintidós mil hombres. 6Y puso David guarnición en Siria la de Damasco, y los Siros fueron hechos siervos de David, trayéndole presentes: porque Jehová salvaba á David donde quiera que iba. 7Tomó también David los escudos de oro que llevaban los siervos de Adarezer, y trájolos á Jerusalem. 8Asimismo de Thibath y de Chûn ciudades de Adarezer, tomó David muy mucho metal, de que Salomón hizo el mar de bronce, las columnas, y vasos de bronce. 9Y oyendo Tou rey de Hamath, que David había deshecho todo el ejército de Adarezer, rey de Soba, 10Envió á Adoram su hijo al rey David, á saludarle y á bendecirle por haber peleado con Adarezer, y haberle vencido; porque Tou tenía guerra con Adarezer. Envióle también toda suerte de vasos de oro, de plata y de metal; 11Los cuales el rey David dedicó á Jehová, con la plata y oro que había tomado de todas las naciones, de Edom, de Moab, de los hijos de Ammón, de los Filisteos, y de Amalec. 12A más de esto Abisai hijo de Sarvia hirió en el valle de la Sal dieciocho mil Idumeos. 13Y puso guarnición en Edom, y todos los Idumeos fueron siervos de David: porque Jehová guardaba á David donde quiera que iba. 14Y reinó David sobre todo Israel, y hacía juicio y justicia á todo su pueblo. 15Y Joab hijo de Sarvia era general del ejército; y Josaphat hijo de Ahilud, canciller; 16Y Sadoc hijo de Achîtob, y Abimelec hijo de Abiathar, eran sacerdotes; y Sausa, secretario; 17Y Benaías hijo de Joiada era sobre los Ceretheos y Peletheos; y los hijos de David eran los príncipes cerca del rey.
1After this, David struck the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines. 2He struck Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute. 3David struck Hadadezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates. 4David took from him one thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots. 5When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men. 6Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went. 7David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8From Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much brass, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass. 9When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, 10he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him; (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou;) and he had with him all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and brass. 11King David also dedicated these to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek. 12Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah struck of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand. 13He put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went. 14David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness to all his people. 15Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; 16and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe; 17and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
1Het geschiedde nu na dezen, dat David de Filistijnen sloeg, en hen ten onderbracht; en hij nam Gath, en haar onderhorige plaatsen, uit der Filistijnen hand. 2Hij sloeg ook de Moabieten, alzo dat de Moabieten Davids knechten werden, brengende geschenken. 3David sloeg ook Hadar-ezer, den koning van Zoba, naar Hamath toe, toen hij heentoog, om zijn hand te stellen aan de rivier Frath. 4En David nam hem duizend wagens af, en zeven duizend ruiters, en twintig duizend man te voet; en David ontzenuwde al de wagen paarden; doch hij behield honderd wagens daarvan over. 5En de Syriers van Damaskus kwamen, om Hadar-ezer, den koning van Zoba, te helpen; maar David sloeg van de Syriers twee en twintig duizend man. 6En David legde bezetting in Syrie van Damaskus, alzo dat de Syriers Davids knechten werden, geschenken brengende. En de HEERE behoedde David overal, waar hij heenging. 7En David nam de gouden schilden, die bij Hadar-ezers knechten waren, en hij bracht ze te Jeruzalem. 8Ook nam David zeer veel kopers uit Tibchath, en uit Chun, steden van Hadar-ezer; daarvan heeft Salomo de koperen zee, en de pilaren, en de koperen vaten gemaakt. 9Toen Thou, de koning van Hamath, hoorde, dat David de ganse heirkracht van Hadar-ezer, den koning van Zoba, geslagen had; 10Zo zond hij zijn zoon Hadoram tot den koning David, om hem naar zijn welstand te vragen, en om hem te zegenen, vanwege dat hij met Hadar-ezer gestreden, en hem verslagen had (want Hadar-ezer voerde oorlog tegen Thou), en alle gouden, en zilveren, en koperen vaten; 11Deze heiligde de koning David ook den HEERE, met het zilver en het goud, hetwelk hij medegebracht had van al de heidenen: van de Edomieten, en van de Moabieten, en van de kinderen Ammons, en van de Filistijnen, en van de Amalekieten. 12Ook sloeg Abisai, de zoon van Zeruja, de Edomieten in het Zoutdal, achttien duizend. 13En hij legde bezetting in Edom, zodat al de Edomieten Davids knechten werden; en de HEERE behoedde David overal, waar hij heenging. 14Alzo regeerde David over gans Israel, en hij deed zijn gansen volke recht en gerechtigheid. 15Joab nu, de zoon van Zeruja, was over het heir; en Josafat, de zoon van Ahilud, was kanselier; 16En Zadok, de zoon van Ahitub, en Abimelech, de zoon van Abjathar, waren priesters, en Sausa schrijver; 17En Benaja, de zoon van Jojada, was over de Krethi en Plethi; maar de zonen van David waren de eersten aan de hand des konings.
