Ιερεμίας 19

1Ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Ύπαγε και απόκτησον λάγηνον πηλίνην κεραμέως, και φέρε τινάς εκ των πρεσβυτέρων του λαού και εκ των πρεσβυτέρων των ιερέων· 2και έξελθε εις την φάραγγα του υιού Εννόμ, την πλησίον της εισόδου της ανατολικής πύλης, και διακήρυξον εκεί τους λόγους, τους οποίους θέλω λαλήσει προς σε. 3Και ειπέ, Ακούσατε τον λόγον του Κυρίου, βασιλείς Ιούδα και κάτοικοι της Ιερουσαλήμ. Ούτω λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων, ο Θεός του Ισραήλ· Ιδού, θέλω φέρει επί τον τόπον τούτον κακά, τα οποία παντός ακούοντος θέλουσιν ηχήσει τα ώτα αυτού. 4Διότι εγκατέλιπον εμέ και εβεβήλωσαν τον τόπον τούτον και εθυμίασαν εν αυτώ εις άλλους θεούς, τους οποίους δεν εγνώρισαν, αυτοί και οι πατέρες αυτών και οι βασιλείς Ιούδα, και εγέμισαν τον τόπον τούτον από αίματος αθώων. 5Και ωκοδόμησαν τους υψηλούς τόπους του Βάαλ, διά να καίωσι τους υιούς αυτών εν πυρί, ολοκαυτώματα προς τον Βάαλ· το οποίον δεν προσέταξα ουδέ ελάλησα ουδέ ανέβη επί την καρδίαν μου. 6Διά τούτο, ιδού, έρχονται ημέραι, λέγει Κύριος, και ο τόπος ούτος δεν θέλει καλείσθαι πλέον Τοφέθ ουδέ Φάραγξ του υιού Εννόμ, αλλ' Η φάραγξ της σφαγής. 7Και θέλω ματαιώσει την βουλήν του Ιούδα και της Ιερουσαλήμ εν τω τόπω τούτω· και θέλω κάμει αυτούς να πέσωσι διά μαχαίρας έμπροσθεν των εχθρών αυτών και διά των χειρών των ζητούντων την ζωήν αυτών· τα δε πτώματα αυτών θέλω δώσει βρώσιν εις τα πετεινά του ουρανού και εις τα θηρία της γης. 8Και θέλω καταστήσει την πόλιν ταύτην ερήμωσιν και συριγμόν· πας ο διαβαίνων δι' αυτής θέλει μένει έκθαμβος και θέλει συρίξει διά πάσας τας πληγάς αυτής. 9και θέλω κάμει αυτούς να φάγωσι την σάρκα των υιών αυτών και την σάρκα των θυγατέρων αυτών, και θέλουσι φάγει έκαστος την σάρκα του φίλου αυτού εν τη πολιορκία και στενοχωρία, με την οποίαν οι εχθροί αυτών και οι ζητούντες την ζωήν αυτών θέλουσι στενοχωρήσει αυτούς. 10Τότε θέλεις συντρίψει την λάγηνον έμπροσθεν των ανδρών των εξελθόντων μετά σού· 11και θέλεις ειπεί προς αυτούς, Ούτω λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων. Ούτω θέλω συντρίψει τον λαόν τούτον και την πόλιν ταύτην, καθώς συντρίβει τις το αγγείον του κεραμέως, το οποίον δεν δύναται να διορθωθή πλέον· και θέλουσι θάπτει αυτούς εν Τοφέθ, εωσού να μη υπάρχη τόπος εις ταφήν. 12Ούτω θέλω κάμει εις τον τόπον τούτον, λέγει Κύριος, και εις τους κατοίκους αυτού, και θέλω κάμει την πόλιν ταύτην ως την Τοφέθ· 13και οι οίκοι της Ιερουσαλήμ και οι οίκοι των βασιλέων του Ιούδα θέλουσι μιανθή, καθώς ο τόπος της Τοφέθ· μετά πασών των οικιών, επί των δωμάτων των οποίων εθυμίασαν προς άπασαν την στρατιάν του ουρανού και έκαμαν σπονδάς εις άλλους θεούς. 14Τότε ήλθεν ο Ιερεμίας εκ της Τοφέθ, όπου ο Κύριος απέστειλεν αυτόν διά να προφητεύση· και σταθείς εν τη αυλή του οίκου του Κυρίου είπε προς πάντα τον λαόν, 15Ούτω λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων, ο Θεός του Ισραήλ· Ιδού, θέλω φέρει επί την πόλιν ταύτην και επί πάσας τας κώμας αυτής πάντα τα κακά όσα ελάλησα κατ' αυτής· διότι εσκλήρυναν τον τράχηλον αυτών, ώστε να μη ακούσωσι τους λόγους μου.

1Thus said Yahweh, Go, and buy a potter’s earthen bottle, and take some of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests; 2and go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell you; 3and say, Hear Yahweh’s word, kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem: thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil on this place, which whoever hears, his ears shall tingle. 4Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it to other gods, that they didn’t know, they and their fathers and the kings of Judah; and have filled this place with the blood of innocents, 5and have built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons in the fire for burnt offerings to Baal; which I didn’t command, nor spoke it, neither came it into my mind: 6therefore, behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that this place shall no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter. 7I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life: and their dead bodies will I give to be food for the birds of the sky, and for the animals of the earth. 8I will make this city an astonishment, and a hissing; everyone who passes thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues. 9I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters; and they shall eat everyone the flesh of his friend, in the siege and in the distress, with which their enemies, and those who seek their life, shall distress them. 10Then you shall break the bottle in the sight of the men who go with you, 11and shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter’s vessel, that can’t be made whole again; and they shall bury in Topheth, until there is no place to bury. 12Thus will I do to this place, says Yahweh, and to its inhabitants, even making this city as Topheth: 13and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, shall be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses on whose roofs they have burned incense to all the army of the sky, and have poured out drink offerings to other gods. 14Then came Jeremiah from Topheth, where Yahweh had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of Yahweh’s house, and said to all the people: 15Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring on this city and on all its towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it; because they have made their neck stiff, that they may not hear my words.

1Zo zegt de HEERE: Ga henen en koop een pottenbakkerskruik, en neem tot u van de oudsten des volks, en van de oudsten der priesteren. 2En ga uit naar het dal des zoons van Hinnom, dat voor de deur der Zonnepoort is, en roep aldaar uit de woorden, die Ik tot u spreken zal; 3En zeg: Hoort des HEEREN woord, gij koningen van Juda en inwoners van Jeruzalem! Alzo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, de God Israels: Ziet, Ik zal een kwaad brengen over deze plaats, van hetwelk een ieder, die het hoort, zijn oren klinken zullen; 4Omdat zij Mij verlaten, en deze plaats vervreemd, en andere goden daarin gerookt hebben die zij niet gekend hebben, zij, noch hun vaderen, noch de koningen van Juda; en hebben deze plaats vervuld met bloed der onschuldigen. 5Want zij hebben de hoogten van Baal gebouwd, om hun zonen met vuur te verbranden, aan Baal tot brandofferen; hetwelk Ik niet geboden, noch gesproken heb, noch in Mijn hart is opgekomen? 6Daarom, ziet, de dagen komen, spreekt de HEERE, dat deze plaats niet meer zal genoemd worden het Tofeth, of dat des zoons van Hinnom, maar Moorddal. 7Want Ik zal den raad van Juda en Jeruzalem in deze plaats verijdelen, en zal hen voor het aangezicht hunner vijanden doen vallen door het zwaard, en door de hand dergenen, die hun ziel zoeken; en Ik zal hun dode lichamen het gevogelte des hemels en het gedierte der aarde tot spijze geven. 8En Ik zal deze stad zetten tot een ontzetting en tot een aanfluiting; al wie voorbij haar gaat, zal zich ontzetten en fluiten over al haar plagen. 9En Ik zal hunlieden het vlees hunner zonen en het vlees hunner dochteren doen eten, en zij zullen eten, een iegelijk het vlees zijns naasten, in de belegering en in de benauwing, waarmede hen hun vijanden, en die hun ziel zoeken, benauwen zullen. 10Dan zult gij de kruik verbreken voor de ogen der mannen, die met u gegaan zijn; 11En gij zult tot hen zeggen: Zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen: Alzo zal Ik dit volk en deze stad verbreken, gelijk als men een pottenbakkersvat verbreekt, dat niet weder geheeld kan worden; en zij zullen hen in Tofeth begraven, omdat er geen andere plaats zal zijn om te begraven. 12Zo zal Ik deze plaats doen, spreekt de HEERE, en haar inwoners; en dat om deze stad te stellen als een Tofeth. 13En de huizen van Jeruzalem en de huizen der koningen van Juda zullen, gelijk alle plaatsen van Tofeth, onrein worden, met al de huizen, op welker daken zij aan al het heir des hemels gerookt en aan vreemde goden drankofferen geofferd hebben. 14Toen nu Jeremia van Tofeth kwam, waarhenen hem de HEERE gezonden had, om te profeteren, stond hij in het voorhof van des HEEREN huis, en zeide tot al het volk: 15Zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, de God Israels: Ziet, Ik zal over deze stad, en over al haar steden, al het kwaad brengen, dat Ik over haar gesproken heb; omdat zij hun nek verhard hebben, om Mijn woorden niet te horen.
