1Υιοί του Ιούδα, Φαρές, Εσρών και Χαρμί και Ωρ και Σωβάλ. 2Και Ρεαΐα, ο υιός του Σωβάλ, εγέννησε τον Ιαάθ· και Ιαάθ εγέννησε τον Αχουμαΐ και τον Λαάδ. Αύται είναι αι συγγένειαι των Σαραθιτών. 3Και ούτοι ήσαν οι υιοί του πατρός Ητάμ· Ιεζραέλ και Ιεσμά και Ιεδβάς· και το όνομα της αδελφής αυτών Ασέλ-ελφονί· 4και Φανουήλ ο πατήρ Γεδώρ, και Εσέρ ο πατήρ Χουσά. Ούτοι είναι οι υιοί του Ωρ, πρωτοτόκου Εφραθά, πατρός Βηθλεέμ. 5Και Ασχώρ ο πατήρ Θεκουέ είχε δύο γυναίκας, Ελά και Νααρά. 6Και η μεν Νααρά εγέννησεν εις αυτόν τον Αχουζάμ και τον Εφέρ και τον Θαιμανί και τον Αχασταρί. Ούτοι ήσαν οι υιοί της Νααρά. 7Οι δε υιοί της Ελά, Σερέθ και Ιεσοάρ και Εθνάν. 8Και ο Κως εγέννησε τον Ανούβ και τον Σωβηβά, και τας συγγενείας του Αχαρήλ, υιού του Αρούμ. 9Και ο Ιαβής ήτο ενδοξότερος παρά τους αδελφούς αυτού· και η μήτηρ αυτού εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτού Ιαβής, λέγουσα, Επειδή εγέννησα αυτόν εν λύπη. 10Και επεκαλέσθη ο Ιαβής τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ, λέγων, Είθε μετ' ευλογίας να με ευλογήσης και να εκτείνης τα όριά μου, και η χειρ σου να ήναι μετ' εμού και να με φυλάττης από κακού, ώστε να μη έχω λύπην. Και εχάρισεν ο Θεός εις αυτόν όσα εζήτησε. 11Και ο Χελούβ, αδελφός του Σουά, εγέννησε τον Μεχείρ· ούτος ήτο πατήρ του Εσθών. 12Και ο Εσθών εγέννησε τον Βαιθ-ραφά και τον Φασέα και τον Θεχιννά, τον πατέρα της πόλεως Νάας· ούτοι είναι οι άνδρες Ρηχά. 13Και οι υιοί του Κενέζ, Γοθονιήλ και Σεραΐας· και οι υιοί του Γοθονιήλ, Αθάθ. 14Και ο Μεονοθαί εγέννησε τον Οφρά· και ο Σεραΐας εγέννησε τον Ιωάβ, πατέρα της κοιλάδος των τεκτόνων· διότι ήσαν τέκτονες. 15Και οι υιοί του Χάλεβ, υιού του Ιεφοννή, Ιρού, Ηλά και Ναάμ· και οι υιοί του Ηλά, Κενέζ. 16Και οι υιοί του Ιαλελεήλ, Ζιφ και Ζιφά, Θηριά και Ασαρεήλ. 17Και οι υιοί του Εζρά, Ιεθέρ και Μερέδ και Εφέρ και Ιαλών· και η γυνή του Μερέδ εγέννησε τον Μαριάμ και τον Σαμμαΐ και τον Ιεσβά τον πατέρα Εσθεμωά. 18Και η άλλη γυνή αυτού, η Ιουδαία, εγέννησε τον Ιέρεδ τον πατέρα Γεδώρ, και τον Έβερ τον πατέρα Σωχώ, και τον Ιεκουθιήλ τον πατέρα Ζανωά. Και ούτοι είναι οι υιοί της Βιθίας θυγατρός του Φαραώ, την οποίαν έλαβεν ο Μερέδ. 19Και οι υιοί της γυναικός αυτού της Οδίας, αδελφής του Ναχάμ, πατρός Κεειλά του Γαρμίτου και Εσθεμωά του Μααχαθίτου. 20Και οι υιοί του Σιμών ήσαν Αμνών και Ριννά, Βεν-ανάν και Θιλών. Και οι υιοί του Ιεσεί, Ζωχέθ και Βεν-ζωχέθ. 21Οι υιοί του Σηλά, υιού του Ιούδα, ήσαν Ηρ ο πατήρ Ληχά και Λααδά ο πατήρ Μαρησά, και αι συγγένειαι του οίκου των εργαζομένων την βύσσον, του οίκου του Ασβεά, 22και ο Ιωκείμ και οι άνδρες Χαζηβά και ο Ιωάς και ο Σαράφ, οίτινες εδέσποζον εν Μωάβ, και ο Ιασουβί-λεχέμ. Πλην ταύτα είναι αρχαία πράγματα. 23Ούτοι ήσαν οι κεραμείς και οι κατοικούντες εν Νεταΐμ και Γεδιρά· εκεί κατώκουν μετά του βασιλέως διά τας εργασίας αυτού. 24Οι υιοί του Συμεών ήσαν Νεμουήλ και Ιαμείν, Ιαρείβ, Ζερά και Σαούλ· 25Σαλλούμ υιός τούτου, Μιβσάμ υιός τούτου, Μισμά υιός τούτου. 26Και οι υιοί του Μισμά, Αμουήλ ο υιός αυτού, Ζακχούρ υιός τούτου, Σιμεΐ υιός τούτου. 27Και ο Σιμεΐ εγέννησε δεκαέξ υιούς και εξ θυγατέρας· οι αδελφοί αυτού όμως δεν είχον υιούς πολλούς, ουδέ επληθύνθησαν πάσαι αι συγγένειαι αυτών, καθώς των υιών του Ιούδα. 28Και κατώκησαν εν Βηρ-σαβεέ και Μωλαδά και Ασάρ-σουάλ, 29και εν Βαλλά και εν Ασέμ και εν Θωλάδ 30και εν Βαιθουήλ και εν Ορμά και εν Σικλάγ 31και εν Βαιθ-μαρχαβώθ και εν Ασάρ-σουσίμ και εν Βαιθ-βηρεΐ και εν Σααραείμ· Αύται ήσαν αι πόλεις αυτών έως της βασιλείας του Δαβίδ. 32Και αι κώμαι αυτών ήσαν, Ητάμ και Αείν, Ριμμών και Θοχέν και Ασάν, πέντε πόλεις· 33και πάσαι αι κώμαι αυτών αι πέριξ τούτων των πόλεων, μέχρι Βάαλ. Αύται ήσαν αι κατοικήσεις αυτών και η κατά γενεάς διαίρεσις αυτών. 34Και Μεσωβάβ και Ιαμλήχ και Ιωσά ο υιός του Αμασία, 35και Ιωήλ και Ιηού ο υιός του Ιωσιβία, υιού του Σεραΐα, υιού του Ασιήλ, 36και Ελιωηνάϊ και Ιαακωβά και Ιεσοχαΐας και Ασαΐας και Αδιήλ και Ιεσιμιήλ και Βεναΐας 37και Ζιζά ο υιός του Σιφεί, υιού του Αλλόν, υιού του Ιεδαΐα, υιού του Σιμρί, υιού του Σεμαΐα· 38ούτοι οι κατ' όνομα μνημονευθέντες ήσαν άρχοντες εις τας συγγενείας αυτών· και ο οίκος των πατέρων αυτών ηυξήθη εις πλήθος. 39Και υπήγαν έως της εισόδου Γεδώρ, προς ανατολάς της κοιλάδος, διά να ζητήσωσι βοσκήν εις τα ποίμνια αυτών· 40και εύρηκαν βοσκήν παχείαν και καλήν, και η γη ήτο ευρύχωρος και ήσυχος και ειρηνική· διότι οι πρότερον κατοικούντες εκεί ήσαν εκ του Χαμ. 41Και ούτοι οι γεγραμμένοι κατ' όνομα ήλθον εν ταις ημέραις Εζεκίου του βασιλέως Ιούδα, και επάταξαν τας σκηνάς αυτών και τους εκεί ευρεθέντας Μιναίους, και ηφάνισαν αυτούς έως της ημέρας ταύτης, και κατώκησαν αντ' αυτών· διότι ήτο εκεί βοσκή διά τα ποίμνια αυτών. 42Και εξ αυτών, εκ των υιών του Συμεών, πεντακόσιοι άνδρες υπήγαν εις το όρος Σηείρ, έχοντες επί κεφαλής αυτών τον Φελατίαν και Νεαρίαν και Ρεφαΐαν και Οζιήλ, υιούς του Ιεσεί· 43και επάταξαν το υπόλοιπον των Αμαληκιτών το διασωθέν, και κατώκησαν εκεί έως της ημέρας ταύτης.

1The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal. 2Reaiah the son of Shobal became the father of Jahath; and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites. 3These were the sons of the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi; 4and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem. 5Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah. 6Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah. 7The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan. 8Hakkoz became the father of Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum. 9Jabez was more honorable than his brothers: and his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.” 10Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it not be to my sorrow!” God granted him that which he requested. 11Chelub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. 12Eshton became the father of Beth Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These are the men of Recah. 13The sons of Kenaz: Othniel, and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath. 14Meonothai became the father of Ophrah: and Seraiah became the father of Joab the father of Ge Harashim; for they were craftsmen. 15The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the sons of Elah; and Kenaz. 16The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel. 17The sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and she bore Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa. 18His wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. The records are ancient. 23These were the potters, and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah: there they lived with the king for his work. 24The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul; 25Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son. 26The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son. 27Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers didn’t have many children, neither did all their family multiply like the children of Judah. 28They lived at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual, 29and at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad, 30and at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag, 31and at Beth Marcaboth, and Hazar Susim, and at Beth Biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities to the reign of David. 32Their villages were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities; 33and all their villages that were around the same cities, to Baal. These were their habitations, and they have their genealogy. 34Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah, 35and Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel, 36and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah, 37and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah— 38these mentioned by name were princes in their families: and their fathers’ houses increased greatly. 39They went to the entrance of Gedor, even to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks. 40They found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for those who lived there before were of Ham. 41These written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents, and the Meunim who were found there, and destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place; because there was pasture there for their flocks. 42Some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi. 43They struck the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and have lived there to this day.

Dit waren hun steden, totdat David koning werd. 32En hun dorpen waren Etam en Ain, Rimmon en Tochen, en Asan; vijf steden. 33En al haar dorpen, die in den omloop dezer steden waren, tot Baal toe. Dit zijn hun woningen en hun geslachtsrekening voor hen. 34Doch Mesobab, en Jamlech, en Josa, de zoon van Amazia, 35En Joel, en Jehu, de zoon van Jesibja, den zoon van Saraja, den zoon van Asiel, 36En Eljoenai, en Jaakoba, en Jesohaja, en Asaja, en Adiel, en Jesimeel, en Benaja, 37En Ziza, de zoon van Sifei, den zoon van Allon, den zoon van Jedaja, den zoon van Simri, den zoon van Semaja; 38Dezen kwamen tot namen, zijnde vorsten in hun huisgezinnen, en de huisgezinnen hunner vaderen braken uit in menigte. 39En zij gingen tot aan den ingang van Gedor tot het oosten des dals, om weide te zoeken voor hun schapen. 40En zij vonden vette en goede weide, en een land, wijd van begrip, en stil, en gerust; want die van Cham woonden daar tevoren. 41Dezen nu, die met namen beschreven zijn, kwamen in de dagen van Hizkia, den koning van Juda, en zij sloegen de tenten en woningen dergenen, die daar gevonden werden; en zij verbanden hen, tot op dezen dag; en zij woonden aan hun plaats, want daar was weide voor hun schapen. 42Ook gingen uit hen, te weten uit de kinderen van Simeon, vijfhonderd mannen, tot het gebergte van Seir; en Pelatja, en Nearja, en Refaja, en Izziel, de zonen van Isei, waren hun tot hoofden. 43En zij sloegen de overigen der ontkomenen onder de Amalekieten, en zij woonden aldaar tot op dezen dag.
