1Εν δε τω ακολούθω έτει, καθ' ον καιρόν εκστρατεύουσιν οι βασιλείς, ο Ιωάβ εξεκίνησε πάσαν την δύναμιν του στρατεύματος και έφθειρε την γην των υιών Αμμών, και ελθών επολιόρκησε την Ραββά· ο δε Δαβίδ έμεινεν εν Ιερουσαλήμ. Και επάταξεν ο Ιωάβ την Ραββά και κατέστρεψεν αυτήν. 2Και έλαβεν ο Δαβίδ τον στέφανον του βασιλέως αυτών από της κεφαλής αυτού· και ευρέθη το βάρος αυτού εν τάλαντον χρυσίου· και ήσαν επ' αυτού λίθοι πολύτιμοι και ετέθη επί την κεφαλής του Δαβίδ· και λάφυρα της πόλεως εξέφερε πολλά σφόδρα. 3Και τον λαόν τον εν αυτή εξήγαγε, και έκοψεν αυτούς με πρίονας και με τριβόλους σιδηρούς και με πελέκεις. Και ούτως έκαμεν ο Δαβίδ εις πάσας τας πόλεις των υιών Αμμών. Τότε επέστρεψεν ο Δαβίδ και πας ο λαός εις Ιερουσαλήμ. 4Μετά δε ταύτα συνεκροτήθη πόλεμος εν Γεζέρ μετά των Φιλισταίων· τότε επάταξεν ο Σιββεχαΐ ο Χουσαθίτης τον Σιφφαΐ, εκ των τέκνων του Ραφά· και κατετροπώθησαν. 5Και πάλιν έγεινε πόλεμος μετά των Φιλισταίων· και επάταξεν ο Ελχανάν ο υιός του Ιαείρ τον Λααμεί, αδελφόν του Γολιάθ του Γετθαίου, και το ξύλον της λόγχης αυτού ήτο ως αντίον υφαντού. 6Και πάλιν έγεινε πόλεμος εν Γαθ, όπου ήτο ανήρ υπερμεγέθης, και οι δάκτυλοι αυτού ήσαν εξ και εξ, εικοσιτέσσαρες, και ούτος έτι ήτο εκ της γενεάς του Ραφά. 7Και ωνείδισε τον Ισραήλ, και Ιωνάθαν ο υιός του Σαμαά, αδελφού του Δαβίδ, επάταξεν αυτόν. 8Ούτοι εγεννήθησαν εις τον Ραφά εν Γάθ· και έπεσον διά χειρός του Δαβίδ και διά χειρός των δούλων αυτού.

1At the time of the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, Joab led out the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. Joab struck Rabbah, and overthrew it. 2David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set on David’s head: and he brought out the plunder of the city, exceeding much. 3He brought out the people who were therein, and cut them with saws, and with iron picks, and with axes. David did so to all the cities of the children of Ammon. David and all the people returned to Jerusalem. 4After this, there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines: then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, of the sons of the giant; and they were subdued. 5There was again war with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. 6There was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were twenty-four, six on each hand, and six on each foot; and he also was born to the giant. 7When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David’s brother killed him. 8These were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

1Het geschiedde nu ten tijde van de wederkomst des jaars, ten tijde als de koningen uittrokken, zo voerde Joab de heirkracht, en hij verdierf het land der kinderen Ammons; en hij kwam, en belegerde Rabba; maar David bleef te Jeruzalem. En Joab sloeg Rabba, en verwoestte ze. 2En David nam de kroon huns konings van zijn hoofd, en hij bevond haar in gewicht een talent gouds, en daar was edelgesteente aan; en zij werd op Davids hoofd gezet, en hij voerde zeer veel roofs uit de stad. 3Hij voerde ook al het volk uit, dat daarin was, en hij zaagde ze met de zaag, en met ijzeren dorswagens, en met bijlen; en alzo deed David aan al de steden der kinderen Ammons. Toen keerde David wederom met al het volk naar Jeruzalem. 4En het geschiedde daarna, als de krijg met de Filistijnen te Gezer opstond, toen sloeg Sibchai, de Husathiet, Sippai, die van de kinderen van Rafa was; en zij werden ten ondergebracht. 5Daarna was er nog een krijg tegen de Filistijnen, en Elhanan, de zoon van Jair, versloeg Lachmi, den broeder van Goliath, den Gethiet, wiens spieshout was als een weversboom. 6Daarna was er nog een krijg te Gath; en daar was een zeer lang man, en zijn vingeren waren zes en zes, vier en twintig, en hij was ook van Rafa geboren; 7En hij hoonde Israel, maar Jonathan, de zoon van Simea, den broeder van David, versloeg hem. 8Dezen waren van Rafa geboren te Gath; en zij vielen door de hand van David, en door de hand zijner knechten.
