1Ðoạn, tôi thấy dưới biển lên một con thú có mười sừng bảy đầu, trên những sừng có mười cái mão triều thiên, và trên những đầu có danh hiệu sự phạm thượng. 2Con thú tôi thấy đó giống như con beo; chơn nó như chơn gấu, miệng như miệng sư tử, và con rồng đã lấy sức mạnh, ngôi, và quyền phép lớn mà cho nó. 3Một cái trong các cái đầu nó như bị thương đến chết; nhưng vít thương chết ấy được lành, và cả thế gian đều lấy làm lạ mà theo con thú đó. 4Người ta khởi thờ phượng con rồng, bởi nó đã lấy quyền phép cho con thú; và họ cũng thờ phượng chính con thú, mà rằng: Ai sánh được với con thú, ai giao chiến cùng nó được? 5Nó được ban cho cái miệng nói những lời kiêu ngạo phạm thượng; và nó lại được quyền làm việc trong bốn mươi hai tháng. 6Vậy, nó mở miệng ra nói những lời phạm đến Ðức Chúa Trời, phạm đến danh Ngài, đền tạm Ngài cùng những kẻ ở trên trời. 7Nó lại được phép giao chiến cùng các thánh đồ và được thắng. Nó cũng được quyền trị mọi chi phái, mọi dân tộc, mọi tiếng và mọi nước. 8Hết thảy những dân sự trên đất đều thờ lạy nó, là những kẻ không có tên ghi trong sách sự sống của Chiên Con đã bị giết từ buổi sáng thế. 9Ai có tai, hãy nghe! 10Nếu ai bắt người làm phu tù, chính mình sẽ bị làm phu tù; nếu ai giết người bằng gươm, mình phải bị giết bằng gươm. Ðây là sự nhịn nhục và đức tin của các thánh đồ. 11Tôi lại thấy từ dưới đất lên một con thú khác, có hai sừng như sừng chiên con, và nói như con rồng. 12Nó cũng dùng mọi quyền phép của con thú trước tại trước mặt con thú ấy, và nó bắt thế gian cùng dân cư nó phải thờ lạy con thú trước, là con có vít thương đến chết đã được lành. 13Nó làm những phép lạ lớn, đến nỗi khiến lửa từ trên trời rơi xuống đất trước mặt người ta. 14Nó lừa dối dân cư trên đất bằng những phép lạ nó đã được phép làm ra trước mặt con thú; và khuyên dân cư trên đất tạc tượng cho con thú đã bị thương bằng gươm và đã sống lại. 15Nó cùng được quyền hà hơi sống vào tượng con thú, hầu cho tượng ấy nói được và khiến hết thảy những kẻ nào không thờ lạy tượng con thú đó bị giết đi. 16Nó cũng khiến mọi người, nhỏ và lớn, giàu và nghèo, tự chủ và tôi mọi, đều chịu ghi dấu hoặc trên tay hữu, hoặc trên trán, 17hầu cho người nào không có dấu ấy, nghĩa là không có danh con thú hay số của tên nó, thì không thể mua cùng bán được. 18Ðây tỏ ra sự khôn ngoan: Kẻ nào thông minh, hãy tính số con thú, vì đó là một số người; số nó là sáu trăm sáu mươi sáu.
1Then I stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads, blasphemous names. 2The beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3One of his heads looked like it had been wounded fatally. His fatal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at the beast. 4They worshiped the dragon, because he gave his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” 5A mouth speaking great things and blasphemy was given to him. Authority to make war for forty-two months was given to him. 6He opened his mouth for blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven. 7It was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him. 8All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been killed. 9If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10If anyone is to go into captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, he must be killed. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints. 11I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon. 12He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. He makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. 13He performs great signs, even making fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the sight of people. 14He deceives my own people who dwell on the earth because of the signs he was granted to do in front of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who had the sword wound and lived. 15It was given to him to give breath to it, to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as wouldn’t worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16He causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, to be given marks on their right hands, or on their foreheads; 17and that no one would be able to buy or to sell, unless he has that mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name. 18Here is wisdom. He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is six hundred sixty-six.
1En ik zag uit de zee een beest opkomen, hebbende zeven hoofden en tien hoornen; en op zijn hoornen waren tien koninklijke hoeden, en op zijn hoofden was een naam van gods lastering. 2En het beest dat ik zag, was een pardel gelijk, en zijn voeten als eens beers voeten, en zijn mond als de mond eens leeuws; en de draak gaf hem zijn kracht, en zijn troon, en grote macht. 3En ik zag een van zijn hoofden als tot den dood gewond, en zijn dodelijke wonde werd genezen; en de gehele aarde verwonderde zich achter het beest. 4En zij aanbaden den draak, die het beest macht gegeven had; en zij aanbaden het beest, zeggende: Wie is dit beest gelijk? wie kan krijg voeren tegen hetzelve? 5En hetzelve werd een mond gegeven, om grote dingen en gods lasteringen te spreken; en hetzelve werd macht gegeven, om zulks te doen, twee en veertig maanden. 6En het opende zijn mond tot lastering tegen God, om Zijn Naam te lasteren, en Zijn tabernakel, en die in den hemel wonen. 7En hetzelve werd macht gegeven, om den heiligen krijg aan te doen, en om die te overwinnen; en hetzelve werd macht gegeven over alle geslacht, en taal, en volk. 8En allen, die op de aarde wonen, zullen hetzelve aanbidden, welker namen niet zijn geschreven in het boek des levens, des Lams, Dat geslacht is, van de grondlegging der wereld. 9Indien iemand oren heeft, die hore. 10Indien iemand in de gevangenis leidt, die gaat zelf in de gevangenis; indien iemand met het zwaard zal doden, die moet zelf met het zwaard gedood worden. Hier is de lijdzaamheid en het geloof der heiligen. 11En ik zag een ander beest uit de aarde opkomen, en het had twee hoornen, des Lams hoornen gelijk, en het sprak als de draak. 12En het oefent al de macht van het eerste beest, in tegenwoordigheid van hetzelve, en het maakt, dat de aarde, en die daarin wonen het eerste beest aanbidden, wiens dodelijke wonde genezen was. 13En het doet grote tekenen, zodat het ook vuur uit den hemel doet afkomen op de aarde, voor de mensen. 14En verleidt degenen, die op de aarde wonen, door de tekenen, die aan hetzelve toe doen gegeven zijn in de tegenwoordigheid van het beest; zeggende tot degenen, die op de aarde wonen, dat zij het beest, dat de wond des zwaards had, en weder leefde, een beeld zouden maken. 15En hetzelve werd macht gegeven om het beeld van het beest een geest te geven, opdat het beeld van het beest ook zou spreken, en maken, dat allen, die het beeld van het beest niet zouden aanbidden, gedood zouden worden. 16En het maakt, dat het aan allen, kleinen en groten, en rijken en armen, en vrijen en dienstknechten, een merkteken geve aan hun rechterhand of aan hun voorhoofden; 17En dat niemand mag kopen of verkopen, dan die dat merkteken heeft, of den naam van het beest, of het getal zijns naams. 18Hier is de wijsheid: die het verstand heeft, rekene het getal van het beest; want het is een getal eens mensen, en zijn getal is zeshonderd zes en zestig.
