1Gióp tiếp nói lẽ luận cao mình, mà rằng: 2Ðức Chúa Trời đã đoạt lấy lý tôi, Ðấng Toàn năng khiến linh hồn tôi bị cay đắng, Tôi chỉ sanh mạng của Ngài mà thề rằng: 3Hễ hơi thở tôi còn ở mình tôi, Và sanh khí của Ðức Chúa Trời còn trong lỗ mũi tôi, 4Quả hẳn môi tôi sẽ chẳng nói sự gian ác, Lưỡi tôi cũng không giảng ra điều giả dối. 5Khi tôi đoán xét, không thể nào cho các bạn là phải! Cho đến kỳ chết, tôi chẳng hề thôi quả quyết rằng tôi trọn vẹn. 6Tôi giữ chặt sự công bình mình, không rời bỏ nó; Trọn đời tôi, lòng tôi sẽ chẳng cáo trách tôi. 7Ước gì cừu địch tôi bị xử như kẻ ác, Và kẻ dấy lên nghịch cùng tôi bị cầm như kẻ trái lẽ công bình. 8Dầu kẻ ác được tài sản, Ðức Chúa Trời cất lấy linh hồn nó đi; Vậy, sự trông cậy kẻ ác là gì? 9Khi sự hoạn nạn xảy đến cùng hắn, Ðức Chúa Trời há sẽ nghe tiếng của hắn sao? 10Có phải hắn sẽ tìm được sự vui sướng mình nơi Ðấng Toàn năng, Và thường thường cầu khẩn Ðức Chúa trời sao? 11Tôi sẽ chỉ dạy cho các bạn việc tay Ðức Chúa Trời làm, Không giấu các bạn ý của Ðấng Toàn năng. 12Nầy, chánh các bạn đã thấy điều đó, Vậy, nhơn sao còn có những tư tưởng hư không kia? 13Này là phần mà Ðức Chúa Trời định cho kẻ ác, Và cơ nghiệp của kẻ cường bạo nhận lãnh từ Ðấng Toàn năng: 14Nếu con cái hắn thêm nhiều, ấy để cho gươm giết; Còn dòng dõi hắn ắt không ăn cho no nê được. 15Kẻ còn sống sót lại của hắn bị sự chết vùi dập, Và người góa bụa hắn sẽ không than khóc. 16Dẫu hắn có thâu góp bạc tiền như cát bụi, Sắm sửa quần áo nhiều như bùn; 17Thật hắn sắm sửa, song rồi ra người công bình sẽ mặc lấy, Còn bạc, kẻ vô tội sẽ chia nhau. 18Người cất nhà mình như ổ sâu trùng, Như chòi mà người giữ vườn nho thường cất. 19Hắn nằm xuống giàu có, song sẽ chẳng được liệm; Nó mở con mắt ra, bèn chẳng còn nữa. 20Sự kinh khiếp thình lình áp vào hắn như thể nước lụt; Bão tố đoạt lấy hắn trong lúc ban đêm. 21Gió đông đem hắn đi, bèn biệt mất; Một luồng dông lớn rứt hắn đi khỏi chổ hắn. 22Ðức Chúa Trời giáng tai vạ trên mình hắn, chẳng thương xót lấy; Hắn rất muốn chạy trốn khỏi tay Ngài. 23Người ta sẽ vỗ tay mừng về việc hắn; Và hút gió đuổi hắn khỏi chỗ ở của hắn.
1Job again took up his parable, and said, 2“As God lives, who has taken away my right, the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter. 3(For the length of my life is still in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils); 4surely my lips shall not speak unrighteousness, neither shall my tongue utter deceit. 5Far be it from me that I should justify you. Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me. 6I hold fast to my righteousness, and will not let it go. My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live. 7“Let my enemy be as the wicked. Let him who rises up against me be as the unrighteous. 8For what is the hope of the godless, when he is cut off, when God takes away his life? 9Will God hear his cry when trouble comes on him? 10Will he delight himself in the Almighty, and call on God at all times? 11I will teach you about the hand of God. That which is with the Almighty will I not conceal. 12Behold, all of you have seen it yourselves; why then have you become altogether vain? 13“This is the portion of a wicked man with God, the heritage of oppressors, which they receive from the Almighty. 14If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword. His offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. 15Those who remain of him shall be buried in death. His widows shall make no lamentation. 16Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay; 17he may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver. 18He builds his house as the moth, as a booth which the watchman makes. 19He lies down rich, but he shall not do so again. He opens his eyes, and he is not. 20Terrors overtake him like waters. A storm steals him away in the night. 21The east wind carries him away, and he departs. It sweeps him out of his place. 22For it hurls at him, and does not spare, as he flees away from his hand. 23Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
1En Job ging voort zijn spreuk op te heffen, en zeide: 2Zo waarachtig als God leeft, Die mijn recht weggenomen heeft, en de Almachtige, Die mijner ziel bitterheid heeft aangedaan! 3Zo lang als mijn adem in mij zal zijn, en het geblaas Gods in mijn neus; 4Indien mijn lippen onrecht zullen spreken, en indien mijn tong bedrog zal uitspreken! 5Het zij verre van mij, dat ik ulieden rechtvaardigen zou; totdat ik den geest zal gegeven hebben, zal ik mijn oprechtigheid van mij niet wegdoen. 6Aan mijn gerechtigheid zal ik vasthouden, en zal ze niet laten varen; mijn hart zal die niet versmaden van mijn dagen. 7Mijn vijand zij als de goddeloze, en die zich tegen mij opmaakt, als de verkeerde. 8Want wat is de verwachting des huichelaars, als hij zal gierig geweest zijn, wanneer God zijn ziel zal uittrekken? 9Zal God zijn geroep horen, als benauwdheid over hem komt? 10Zal hij zich verlustigen in den Almachtige? Zal hij God aanroepen te aller tijd? 11Ik zal ulieden leren van de hand Gods; wat bij den Almachtige is, zal ik niet verhelen. 12Ziet, gij zelve allen hebt het gezien; en waarom wordt gij dus door ijdelheid verijdeld? 13Dit is het deel des goddelozen mensen bij God, en de erve der tirannen, die zij van den Almachtige ontvangen zullen. 14Indien zijn kinderen vermenigvuldigen, het is ten zwaarde; en zijn spruiten zullen van brood niet verzadigd worden. 15Zijn overgeblevenen zullen in den dood begraven worden, en zijn weduwen zullen niet wenen. 16Zo hij zilver opgehoopt zal hebben als stof, en kleding bereid als leem; 17Hij zal ze bereiden, maar de rechtvaardige zal ze aantrekken, en de onschuldige zal het zilver delen. 18Hij bouwt zijn huis als een motte, en als een hoeder de hutte maakt. 19Rijk ligt hij neder, en wordt niet weggenomen; doet hij zijn ogen open, zo is hij er niet. 20Verschrikkingen zullen hem als wateren aangrijpen; des nachts zal hem een wervelwind wegstelen. 21De oostenwind zal hem wegvoeren, dat hij henengaat, en zal hem wegstormen uit zijn plaats. 22En God zal dit over hem werpen, en niet sparen; van Zijn hand zal hij snellijk vlieden. 23Een ieder zal over hem met zijn handen klappen, en over hem fluiten uit zijn plaats.
