1Xô-pha, người Na-a-ma, bèn đáp rằng: 2Vì cớ ấy tư tưởng tôi chỉ dạy cho tôi lời đáp, Và tại lời đó, tâm thần tôi bị cảm động trong mình tôi. 3Tôi đã nghe lời trách móc làm hổ thẹn tôi; Trí khôn tôi lấy sự thông minh mà đáp lời. 4Hãy biết rõ rằng, từ đời xưa, Từ khi loài người được đặt nơi thế gian, 5Thì sự thắng hơn của kẻ ác không có lâu, Và sự vui mừng của kẻ vô đạo chỉ một lúc mà thôi. 6Dầu sự kiêu căng nó cất lên đến tận trời, Dầu cho đầu nó đụng chí mây, 7Thì nó sẽ bị tiêu diệt đời đời như phân bón nó; Những người đã thấy nó sẽ hỏi rằng: Nó ở đâu? 8Nó bay đi như một cơn chiêm bao, không ai gặp nó lại; Thật, nó sẽ biết mất như dị tượng ban đêm. 9Con mắt đã thường xem nó, sẽ không thấy nó lại, Nơi nó ở cũng sẽ chẳng còn nữa. 10Con cái nó sẽ cầu ơn kẻ nghèo, Và tay nó sẽ thường lại tài sản mà sự hung bạo nó đã cướp giựt. 11Tứ chi nó đầy sức lực của buổi đang thì; Nhưng sẽ nằm chung với nó trong bụi đất; 12Dẫu sự ác lấy làm ngọt ngào cho miệng nó, Dẫu ẩn dưới lưỡi hắn, 13Dẫu hắn tríu mến sự ác, không từ bỏ nó, Nhưng giữ nó lại trong miệng mình, 14Thì vật thực nó sẽ biến nơi can tràng, Và thành ra mật rắn hổ trong bụng nó. 15Nó có nuốt của cải, rồi lại mửa ra; Ðức chúa Trời sẽ tống của ấy ra khỏi bụng nó. 16Nó sẽ mút nọc rắn hổ; Lưỡi của rắn lục sẽ giết nó. 17Nó sẽ chẳng thấy sông và dòng chảy mật cùng mỡ sữa ra. 18Nó phải trả hoa lợi về công việc mình, không được nuốt nó; Phải thường lãi tùy theo giá nó, Không được hưởng của ấy. 19Vì nó có hà hiếp, bỏ bê kẻ nghèo, Cướp lấy nhà cửa, mà nó không có xây cất. 20Bởi vì nó không biết an tịnh trong mình, Nó sẽ chẳng được bảo thủ gì về các điều mình ưa thích hơn hết. 21Chẳng chi thoát khỏi sự mê ăn của nó; Cho nên sự may mắn nó chẳng bền lâu. 22Ðương khi dư dật, nó sẽ bị cùng túng; Các người khốn khổ sẽ tra tay vào mình nó. 23Ðức Chúa Trời sẽ sai thạnh nộ Ngài hãm mình nó, Ðặng làm cho lòng nó đầy dẫy, Ngài sẽ giáng cơn giận Ngài trên mình nó, chánh trong lúc nó ăn bữa. 24Nó sẽ trốn lánh khỏi khí giới sắt, Còn cây cung đồng sẽ xoi lũng nó. 25Nó nhổ tên ra khỏi thân nó, Mũi gươm bóng ngời rút ra khỏi gan nó; Các sự kinh khiếp hãm áp nó. 26Cả sự tối tăm đã dành làm bửu vật cho nó; Lửa người ta không thổi sẽ thiêu đốt nó, Và kẻ còn sót lại trong trại nó sẽ bị tiêu diệt đi. 27Các từng trời sẽ bày tỏ gian ác nó ra, Và đất sẽ dấy lên nghịch cùng nó. 28Hoa lợi của nhà nó sẽ bị đem đi mất, Tài sản nó sẽ bị trôi đi trong ngày thạnh nộ của Chúa. 29Ðó là phần mà Ðức Chúa Trời dành cho kẻ hung ác, Và ấy là cơ nghiệp mà Ngài định cho nó.
1Then Zophar the Naamathite answered, 2“Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, even by reason of my haste that is in me. 3I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame. The spirit of my understanding answers me. 4Don’t you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth, 5that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment? 6Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds, 7yet he shall perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him shall say, ‘Where is he?’ 8He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found. Yes, he shall be chased away like a vision of the night. 9The eye which saw him shall see him no more, neither shall his place any more see him. 10His children shall seek the favor of the poor. His hands shall give back his wealth. 11His bones are full of his youth, but youth shall lie down with him in the dust. 12“Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue, 13though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth; 14yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him. 15He has swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly. 16He shall suck cobra venom. The viper’s tongue shall kill him. 17He shall not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter. 18That for which he labored he shall restore, and shall not swallow it down. According to the substance that he has gotten, he shall not rejoice. 19For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up. 20“Because he knew no quietness within him, he shall not save anything of that in which he delights. 21There was nothing left that he didn’t devour, therefore his prosperity shall not endure. 22In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress shall overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery shall come on him. 23When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating. 24He shall flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow shall strike him through. 25He draws it out, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him. 26All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire shall devour him. It shall consume that which is left in his tent. 27The heavens shall reveal his iniquity. The earth shall rise up against him. 28The increase of his house shall depart. They shall rush away in the day of his wrath. 29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God.”
1Toen antwoordde Zofar, de Naamathiet, en zeide: 2Daarom doen mijn gedachten mij antwoorden, en over zulks is mijn verhaasten in mij. 3Ik heb aangehoord een bestraffing, die mij schande aandoet; maar de geest zal uit mijn verstand voor mij antwoorden. 4Weet gij dit? Van altoos af, van dat God den mens op de wereld gezet heeft, 5Dat het gejuich de goddelozen van nabij geweest is, en de vreugde des huichelaars voor een ogenblik? 6Wanneer zijn hoogheid tot den hemel toe opklomme, en zijn hoofd tot aan de wolken raakte; 7Zal hij, gelijk zijn drek, in eeuwigheid vergaan; die hem gezien hadden, zullen zeggen: Waar is hij? 8Hij zal wegvlieden als een droom, dat men hem niet vinden zal, en hij zal verjaagd worden als een gezicht des nachts. 9Het oog, dat hem zag, zal het niet meer doen; en zijn plaats zal hem niet meer aanschouwen. 10Zijn kinderen zullen zoeken den armen te behagen; en zijn handen zullen zijn vermogen moeten weder uitkeren. 11Zijn beenderen zullen vol van zijn verborgene zonden zijn; van welke elkeen met hem op het stof nederliggen zal. 12Indien het kwaad in zijn mond zoet is, hij dat verbergt, onder zijn tong, 13Hij dat spaart, en hetzelve niet verlaat, maar dat in het midden van zijn gehemelte inhoudt; 14Zijn spijze zal in zijn ingewand veranderd worden; gal der adderen zal zij in het binnenste van hem zijn. 15Hij heeft goed ingeslokt, maar zal het uitspuwen; God zal het uit zijn buik uitdrijven. 16Het vergif der adderen zal hij zuigen; de tong der slang zal hem doden. 17De stromen, rivieren, beken van honig en boter zal hij niet zien. 18Den arbeid zal hij wedergeven en niet inslokken; naar het vermogen zijner verandering, zo zal hij van vreugde niet opspringen. 19Omdat hij onderdrukt heeft, de armen verlaten heeft, een huis geroofd heeft, dat hij niet opgebouwd had; 20Omdat hij geen rust in zijn buik gekend heeft, zo zal hij van zijn gewenst goed niet uitbehouden. 21Er zal niets overig zijn, dat hij ete; daarom zal hij niet wachten naar zijn goed. 22Als zijn genoegzaamheid zal vol zijn, zal hem bang zijn; alle hand des ellendigen zal over hem komen. 23Er zij wat om zijn buik te vullen; God zal over hem de hitte Zijns toorns zenden, en over hem regenen op zijn spijze. 24Hij zij gevloden van de ijzeren wapenen, de stalen boog zal hem doorschieten. 25Men zal het zwaard uittrekken, het zal uit het lijf uitgaan, en glinsterende uit zijn gal voortkomen; verschrikkingen zullen over hem zijn. 26Alle duisternis zal verborgen zijn in zijn schuilplaatsen; een vuur, dat niet opgeblazen is, zal hem verteren; den overigen in zijn tent zal het kwalijk gaan. 27De hemel zal zijn ongerechtigheid openbaren, en de aarde zal zich tegen hem opmaken. 28De inkomste van zijn huis zal weggevoerd worden; het zal al henenvloeien in den dag Zijns toorns. 29Dit is het deel des goddelozen mensen van God, en de erve zijner redenen van God.
