1Hỡi con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên, hãy nghe lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va; vì Ðức Giê-hô-va có sự kiện cáo với dân đất nầy, bởi trong đất nầy chẳng có lẽ thật, chẳng có nhơn từ, cũng chẳng có sự nhận biết Ðức Chúa Trời. 2Ở đó chỉ thấy những sự thề gian, thất tín, giết người, ăn trộm, và tà dâm; chúng nó làm sự tàn bạo, máu chồng trên máu. 3Vậy nên, đất ấy sẽ sầu thảm; hết thảy người ở đó sẽ hao mòn, những thú đồng và chim trời cũng vậy; những cá biển cũng sẽ bị lấy đi. 4Dầu vậy, chớ có ai biện luận, chớ có ai quở trách! Vì dân ngươi giống như những người cãi lẫy thầy tế lễ. 5Ngươi sẽ vấp ngã giữa ban ngày; chính mình kẻ tiên tri cũng sẽ vấp ngã với ngươi trong ban đêm, và ta sẽ diệt mẹ ngươi. 6Dân ta bị diệt vì cớ thiếu sự thông biết. Bởi ngươi bỏ sự thông biết thì ta cũng bỏ ngươi, đặng ngươi không làm thầy tế lễ cho ta nữa; bởi ngươi đã quên luật pháp của Ðức Chúa Trời mình, thì ta cũng sẽ quên con cái ngươi. 7Chúng nó sanh sản nhiều ra bao nhiêu, thì chúng nó lại phạm tội nghịch cùng ta bấy nhiêu: ta sẽ đổi sự vinh hiển của chúng nó ra sỉ nhục. 8Chúng nó ăn tội lỗi dân ta; ham hố sự gian ác của nó. 9Sẽ xảy ra dân thể nào thì thầy tế lễ cũng thể ấy: ta sẽ phạt nó vì đường lối nó và sẽ trả cho nó tùy việc nó làm. 10Chúng nó sẽ ăn mà không được no, hành dâm mà không sanh sản thêm, vì chúng nó đã bỏ Ðức Giê-hô-va không nghĩ đến Ngài nữa. 11Sự dâm dục, rượu cũ và rượu mới cất lấy hết trí khôn chúng nó. 12Dân ta hỏi tượng gỗ nó, thì gậy nó trả lời; vì lòng dâm làm lầm lạc chúng nó, và chúng nó phạm tội tà dâm mà lìa bỏ Ðức Chúa Trời mình. 13Chúng nó dâng tế lễ trên các chót núi; đốt hương trên các đồi, dưới những cây dẽ, cây liễu, cây thông, vì bóng nó mát mẻ lắm. Vậy nên, con gái các ngươi hành dâm, và dâu các ngươi phạm tội ngoại tình. 14Ta sẽ không phạt con gái các ngươi bởi cớ hành dâm, cũng không phạt dâu các ngươi bởi cớ ngoại tình; vì những đờn ông đi riêng với đồ điếm đĩ, và dâng của lễ với đờn bà dâm đãng. Vậy nên dân sự chẳng hiểu biết sẽ bị úp đổ. 15Hỡi Y-sơ-ra-ên, dầu ngươi tà dâm, Giu-đa cũng không nên phạm tội! Vậy chớ vào nơi Ghinh-ganh! Chớ lên nơi Bết-a-ven! Chớ có thề mà rằng: Thật như Ðức Giê-hô-va hằng sống. 16Vì Y-sơ-ra-ên đã bạn nghịch như con bò cái tơ bất trị, nên bây giờ Ðức Giê-hô-va cho chúng nó ăn cỏ như chiên con thả trong đồng rộng. 17Ép-ra-im sa mê thần tượng, hãy để mặc nó! 18Ðồ chúng nó uống đã chua đi; chúng nó làm sự gian dâm chẳng thôi. Các quan trưởng nó vui lòng trong sự sỉ nhục. 19Gió đã lấy cánh cuốn nó, và chúng nó sẽ mang xấu hổ vì của lễ mình.
1Hear Yahweh’s word, you children of Israel; for Yahweh has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed. 3Therefore the land will mourn, and everyone who dwells therein will waste away. all living things in her, even the animals of the field and the birds of the sky; yes, the fish of the sea also die. 4“Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse; For your people are like those who bring charges against a priest. 5You will stumble in the day, and the prophet will also stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother. 6My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God’s law, I will also forget your children. 7As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will change their glory into shame. 8They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity. 9It will be, like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will repay them for their deeds. 10They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the prostitute, and will not increase; because they have abandoned giving to Yahweh. 11Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding. 12My people consult with their wooden idol, and answer to a stick of wood. Indeed the spirit of prostitution has led them astray, and they have been unfaithful to their God. 13They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, and burn incense on the hills, under oaks and poplars and terebinths, because its shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the prostitute, and your brides commit adultery. 14I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute, nor your brides when they commit adultery; because the men consort with prostitutes, and they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; so the people without understanding will come to ruin. 15“Though you, Israel, play the prostitute, yet don’t let Judah offend; and don’t come to Gilgal, neither go up to Beth Aven, nor swear, ‘As Yahweh lives.’ 16For Israel has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. Then how will Yahweh feed them like a lamb in a meadow. 17Ephraim is joined to idols. Leave him alone! 18Their drink has become sour. They play the prostitute continually. Her rulers dearly love their shameful way. 19The wind has wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be disappointed because of their sacrifices.
1Hoort des HEEREN woord, gij kinderen Israels! want de HEERE heeft een twist met de inwoners des lands, omdat er geen trouw, en geen weldadigheid, en geen kennis van God in het land is; 2Maar vloeken en liegen, en doodslaan, en stelen, en overspel doen; zij breken door, en bloedschulden raken aan bloedschulden. 3Daarom zal het land treuren, en een iegelijk, die daarin woont, kwelen, met het gedierte des velds, en met het gevogelte des hemels; ja, ook de vissen der zee zullen weggeraapt worden. 4Doch niemand twiste noch bestraffe iemand; want uw volk is als die met den priester twisten. 5Daarom zult gij vallen bij dag, ja, zelfs de profeet zal met u vallen bij nacht; en Ik zal uw moeder uitroeien. 6Mijn volk is uitgeroeid, omdat het zonder kennis is; dewijl gij de kennis verworpen hebt, heb Ik u ook verworpen, dat gij Mij het priesterambt niet zult bedienen; dewijl gij de wet uws Gods vergeten hebt, zal Ik ook uw kinderen vergeten. 7Gelijk zij meerder geworden zijn, alzo hebben zij tegen Mij gezondigd; Ik zal hunlieder eer in schande veranderen. 8Zij eten de zonde Mijns volks, en verlangen, een ieder met zijn ziel, naar hun ongerechtigheid. 9Daarom, gelijk het volk, alzo zal de priester zijn; en Ik zal zijn wegen over hem bezoeken, en zijn handelingen hem vergelden. 10En zij zullen eten, maar niet zat worden, zullen hoereren, maar niet uitbreken in menigte; want zij hebben nagelaten den HEERE in acht te nemen. 11Hoererij, en wijn, en most neemt het hart weg. 12Mijn volk vraagt zijn hout, en zijn stok zal het hem bekend maken; want de geest der hoererijen verleidt hen, dat zij van onder hun God weghoereren. 13Op de hoogten der bergen offeren zij, en op de heuvelen roken zij, onder een eik, en populier, en iepeboom, omdat derzelver schaduw goed is; daarom hoereren uw dochteren, en uw bruiden bedrijven overspel. 14Ik zal over uw dochteren geen bezoeking doen, omdat zij hoereren, en over uw bruiden, omdat zij overspel doen; want zij zelven scheiden zich af met de hoeren, en offeren met de snoodste hoeren; het volk dan, dat geen verstand heeft zal omgekeerd worden. 15Zo gij, o Israel! wilt hoereren, dat immers Juda niet schuldig worde; komt gij toch niet te Gilgal, en gaat niet op naar Beth-Aven, en zweert niet: Zo waarachtig als de HEERE leeft. 16Want Israel is onbandig, als een onbandige koe; nu zal hen de HEERE weiden, als een lam in de ruimte. 17Efraim is vergezeld met de afgoden; laat hem varen. 18Hunlieder zuiperij is afvallig; zij doen niet dan hoereren; hun schilden (het is een schande!) beminnen het woord: Geeft. 19Een wind heeft hen gebonden in zijn vleugelen, en zij zullen beschaamd worden vanwege hun offeranden.
