1Khi các điều nầy đã xảy đến cho ngươi, hoặc phước lành, hoặc rủa sả, mà ta đã đặt trước mặt ngươi, nếu trong các nước, mà Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi đuổi ngươi đến, ngươi đem lòng nhắc lại những điều ấy, 2trở lại cùng Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi, ngươi và con cháu ngươi hết lòng hết ý vâng theo tiếng phán của Ngài, như mọi điều ta truyền cho ngươi ngày nay, 3thì bấy giờ Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi sẽ thương xót ngươi, đem những phu tù ngươi trở về, nhóm hiệp ngươi từ giữa các dân, là nơi Ngài đã tản lạc ngươi đó. 4Dẫu những kẻ bị đày của ngươi ở tại cuối trời, thì Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi cũng sẽ từ đó nhóm hiệp ngươi lại và rút ngươi khỏi nơi đó. 5Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi sẽ đem ngươi về xứ mà tổ phụ ngươi đã nhận được, và ngươi sẽ nhận lấy nó; Ngài sẽ làm ơn cho ngươi và gia thêm ngươi nhiều hơn tổ phụ ngươi. 6Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi sẽ cất sự ô uế khỏi lòng ngươi và khỏi dòng dõi ngươi, để ngươi hết lòng hết ý kính mến Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi, hầu cho ngươi được sống. 7Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi sẽ đổ các lời trù ẻo nầy trên kẻ thù nghịch ngươi, trên kẻ nào ghét và bắt bớ ngươi. 8Còn ngươi sẽ hối cải, nghe theo tiếng phán của Ðức Giê-hô-va, và làm theo các điều răn của Ngài, mà ta truyền cho ngươi ngày nay. 9Khi ngươi nghe theo tiếng phán của Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi, gìn giữ các điều răn và luật lệ của Ngài đã ghi trong sách luật pháp nầy, hết lòng hết ý trở lại cùng Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi, thì Ngài sẽ ban phước đầy-lấp, 10làm cho mọi công việc của tay ngươi được thạnh lợi, khiến hoa quả của thân thể ngươi, sản vật của sinh súc, và bông trái của đất ruộng ngươi được thịnh-vượng; vì Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ lại vui lòng nữa mà làm ơn cho ngươi, như Ngài đã vui lòng về các tổ phụ ngươi. 11Ðiều răn nầy mà ta truyền cho ngươi ngày nay chẳng phải cao quá ngươi, hay là xa quá cho ngươi. 12Nó chẳng phải ở trên trời, để ngươi nói rằng: Ai sẽ lên trời đem nó xuống cho chúng tôi nghe, đặng chúng tôi làm theo? 13Nó cũng chẳng phải ở bên kia biển, để ngươi nói rằng: Ai sẽ đi qua bên kia biển, đem nó về cho chúng tôi nghe, đặng chúng tôi làm theo? 14Vì lời nầy rất gần ngươi, ở trong miệng và trong lòng ngươi, để ngươi làm theo nó. 15Hãy xem, ngày nay ta đặt trước mặt ngươi sự sống và phước lành, sự chết và tai họa, 16vì ngày nay, ta bảo ngươi thương mến Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi, đi trong các đường lối Ngài, và gìn giữ những điều răn luật lệ và mạng lịnh Ngài, để ngươi sống, gia thêm, và Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi ban phước cho ngươi trong xứ mà ngươi sẽ vào nhận lấy. 17Nhưng nếu lòng ngươi xây trở, không khứng nghe theo, chịu dụ dỗ thờ lạy và hầu việc các thần khác, 18thì ngày nay ta tỏ cùng các ngươi rằng các ngươi hẳn phải tuyệt diệt, không được sống lâu trên đất mà ngươi sẽ đi qua sông Giô-đanh đặng nhận lấy. 19Ngày nay, ta bắt trời và đất làm chứng cho các ngươi rằng ta đã đặt trước mặt ngươi sự sống và sự chết, sự phước lành và sự rủa sả. Vậy, hãy chọn sự sống, hầu cho ngươi và dòng dõi ngươi được sống, 20thương mến Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi, vâng theo tiếng phán Ngài, và tríu mến Ngài; vì Ngài là sự sống ngươi và làm cho ngươi được sống lâu, đặng ngươi ở trên đất mà Ðức Giê-hô-va đã thề ban cho các tổ phụ ngươi, là Áp-ra-ham, Y-sác, và Gia-cốp.
1It shall happen, when all these things have come on you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations, where Yahweh your God has driven you, 2and return to Yahweh your God, and obey his voice according to all that I command you this day, you and your children, with all your heart, and with all your soul; 3that then Yahweh your God will release you from captivity, have compassion on you, and will return and gather you from all the peoples where Yahweh your God has scattered you. 4If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of the heavens, from there Yahweh your God will gather you, and from there he will bring you back. 5Yahweh your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you will possess it. He will do you good, and increase your numbers more than your fathers. 6Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live. 7Yahweh your God will put all these curses on your enemies, and on those who hate you, who persecuted you. 8You shall return and obey the voice of Yahweh, and do all his commandments which I command you this day. 9Yahweh your God will make you plenteous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, for good; for Yahweh will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers; 10if you will obey Yahweh your God’s voice, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law; if you turn to Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul. 11For this commandment which I command you this day is not too hard for you or too distant. 12It is not in heaven, that you should say, “Who will go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, and proclaim it to us, that we may do it?” 13Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, “Who will go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, and proclaim it to us, that we may do it?” 14But the word is very near to you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. 15Behold, I have set before you this day life and prosperity, and death and evil. 16For I command you this day to love Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it. 17But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; 18I denounce to you this day, that you will surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you pass over the Jordan to go in to possess it. 19I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your descendants; 20to love Yahweh your God, to obey his voice, and to cling to him; for he is your life, and the length of your days; that you may dwell in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
1Voorts zal het geschieden, wanneer al deze dingen over u zullen gekomen zijn, deze zegen of deze vloek, die ik u voorgesteld heb; zo zult gij het weder ter harte nemen, onder alle volken, waarheen u de HEERE, uw God, gedreven heeft; 2En gij zult u bekeren tot den HEERE, uw God, en Zijner stem gehoorzaam zijn, naar alles, wat ik u heden gebiede, gij en uw kinderen, met uw ganse hart en met uw ganse ziel. 3En de HEERE, uw God, zal uw gevangenis wenden, en Zich uwer ontfermen; en Hij zal wederkeren en u vergaderen uit al de volken, waarheen u de HEERE, uw God, verstrooid had. 4Al waren uw verdrevenen aan het einde des hemels, van daar zal u de HEERE, uw God, vergaderen, en van daar zal Hij u nemen. 5En de HEERE, uw God, zal u brengen in het land, dat uw vaderen erfelijk bezeten hebben, en gij zult dat erfelijk bezitten; en Hij zal u weldoen, en zal u vermenigvuldigen boven uw vaderen. 6En de HEERE, uw God, zal uw hart besnijden, en het hart van uw zaad, om den HEERE, uw God, lief te hebben met uw ganse hart en met uw ganse ziel, opdat gij levet. 7En de HEERE, uw God, zal al die vloeken leggen op uw vijanden en op uw haters, die u vervolgd hebben. 8Gij dan zult u bekeren, en der stemme des HEEREN gehoorzaam zijn, en gij zult doen al Zijn geboden, die ik u heden gebiede. 9En de HEERE, uw God, zal u doen overvloeien in al het werk uwer hand, in de vrucht uws buiks, en in de vrucht uwer beesten, en in de vrucht uws lands, ten goede; want de HEERE zal wederkeren, om Zich over u te verblijden ten goede, gelijk als Hij Zich over uw vaderen verblijd heeft; 10Wanneer gij der stemme des HEEREN, uws Gods, zult gehoorzaam zijn, houdende Zijn geboden en Zijn inzettingen, die in dit wetboek geschreven zijn; wanneer gij u zult bekeren tot den HEERE, uw God, met uw ganse hart en met uw ganse ziel. 11Want ditzelve gebod, hetwelk ik u heden gebiede, dat is van u niet verborgen, en dat is niet verre. 12Het is niet in den hemel, om te zeggen: Wie zal voor ons ten hemel varen, dat hij het voor ons hale, en ons hetzelve horen late, dat wij het doen? 13Het is ook niet op gene zijde der zee, om te zeggen: Wie zal voor ons overvaren aan gene zijde der zee, dat hij het voor ons hale, en ons hetzelve horen late, dat wij het doen? 14Want dit woord is zeer nabij u, in uw mond, en in uw hart, om dat te doen. 15Ziet, ik heb u heden voorgesteld het leven, en het goede, en den dood, en het kwade. 16Want ik gebiede u heden, den HEERE, uw God, lief te hebben, in Zijn wegen te wandelen, en te houden Zijn geboden, en Zijn inzettingen, en Zijn rechten, opdat gij levet en vermenigvuldiget, en de HEERE, uw God, u zegene in het land, waar gij naar toe gaat, om dat te erven. 17Maar indien uw hart zich zal afwenden, en gij niet horen zult, en gij gedreven zult worden, dat gij u voor andere goden buigt, en dezelve dient; 18Zo verkondig ik ulieden heden, dat gij voorzeker zult omkomen; gij zult de dagen niet verlengen op het land, naar hetwelk gij over de Jordaan zijt heengaande, om daarin te komen, dat gij het erfelijk bezit. 19Ik neem heden tegen ulieden tot getuigen den hemel en de aarde; het leven en den dood heb ik u voorgesteld, den zegen en den vloek! Kiest dan het leven, opdat gij levet, gij en uw zaad; 20Liefhebbende den HEERE, uw God, Zijner stem gehoorzaam zijnde, en Hem aanhangende; want Hij is uw leven en de lengte uwer dagen; opdat gij blijft in het land, dat de HEERE uw vaderen, Abraham, Izak en Jakob, gezworen heeft hun te zullen geven.
