1Vậy nên, chúng tôi nhờ sự thương xót đã ban cho, mà được chức vụ nầy, thì chúng tôi chẳng ngã lòng; 2nhưng chúng tôi từ bỏ mọi điều hổ thẹn giấu kín. Chúng tôi chẳng theo sự dối gạt, và chẳng giả mạo lời Ðức Chúa Trời, nhưng trước mặt Ðức Chúa Trời chúng tôi tỏ bày lẽ thật, khiến lương tâm mọi người cho chúng tôi là đáng chuộng. 3Nếu Tin Lành của chúng tôi còn che khuất, là chỉ che khuất cho những kẻ hư mất, 4cho những kẻ chẳng tin mà chúa đời nầy đã làm mù lòng họ, hầu cho họ không trông thấy sự vinh hiển chói lói của Tin Lành Ðấng Christ, là ảnh tượng của Ðức Chúa Trời. 5Vả, chúng tôi chẳng rao giảng chính mình chúng tôi, nhưng rao giảng Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ, tức là Chúa; và vì tình yêu mến Ðức Chúa Jêsus mà chúng tôi xưng mình là tôi tớ của anh em. 6Vì Ðức Chúa Trời, là Ðấng có phán: Sự sáng phải soi từ trong sự tối tăm! đã làm cho sự sáng Ngài chói lòa trong lòng chúng tôi, đặng sự thông biết về vinh hiển Ðức Chúa Trời soi sáng nơi mặt Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ. 7Nhưng chúng tôi đựng của quí nầy trong chậu bằng đất, hầu cho tỏ quyền phép lớn dường ấy là bởi Ðức Chúa Trời mà ra, chớ chẳng phải bởi chúng tôi. 8Chúng tôi bị ép đủ cách, nhưng không đến cùng; bị túng thế nhưng không ngã lòng; 9bị bắt bớ, nhưng không đến bỏ; bị đánh đập, nhưng không đến chết mất. 10Chúng tôi thường mang sự chết của Ðức Chúa Jêsus trong thân thể mình, hầu cho sự sống của Ðức Chúa Jêsus cũng tỏ ra trong thân thể chúng tôi. 11Bởi chúng tôi là kẻ sống, vì cớ Ðức Chúa Jêsus mà hằng bị nộp cho sự chết, hầu cho sự sống của Ðức Chúa Jêsus cũng được tỏ ra trong xác thịt hay chết của chúng tôi; 12vậy thì sự chết làm trong chúng tôi, còn sự sống trong anh em. 13Vì chúng tôi có đồng một lòng tin, y như lời Kinh Thánh rằng: Ta đã tin, cho nên ta nói, cũng vậy, chúng tôi tin, cho nên mới nói, 14vì biết rằng Ðấng đã khiến Ðức Chúa Jêsus sống lại, cũng sẽ làm cho chúng tôi sống lại với Ðức Chúa Jêsus, và làm cho chúng tôi ứng hầu với anh em trước mặt Ngài. 15Bởi chưng mọi điều đó xảy đến vì cớ anh em, hầu cho ân điển rải ra cách dư dật, khiến sự tạ ơn nơi nhiều người hơn cũng dư dật, mà thêm vinh hiển cho Ðức Chúa Trời. 16Vậy nên chúng ta chẳng ngã lòng, dầu người bề ngoài hư nát, nhưng người bề trong cứ đổi mới càng ngày càng hơn. 17Vì sự hoạn nạn nhẹ và tạm của chúng ta sanh cho chúng ta sự vinh hiển cao trọng đời đời, vô lượng, vô biên, 18bởi chúng ta chẳng chăm sự thấy được; vì những sự thấy được chỉ là tạm thời, mà sự không thấy được là đời đời không cùng vậy.
1Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we don’t faint. 2But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled in those who perish; 4in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them. 5For we don’t preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake; 6seeing it is God who said, “Light will shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves. 8We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; 9pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed; 10always carrying in the body the putting to death of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh. 12So then death works in us, but life in you. 13But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, “I believed, and therefore I spoke.” We also believe, and therefore also we speak; 14knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will present us with you. 15For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. 16Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. 17For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; 18while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
1Daarom dewijl wij deze bediening hebben, naar de barmhartigheid, die ons geschied is, zo vertragen wij niet; 2Maar wij hebben verworpen de bedekselen der schande, niet wandelende in arglistigheid, noch het Woord Gods vervalsende, maar door openbaring der waarheid onszelven aangenaam makende bij alle gewetens der mensen, in de tegenwoordigheid Gods. 3Doch indien ook ons Evangelie bedekt is, zo is het bedekt in degenen, die verloren gaan; 4In dewelke de god dezer eeuw de zinnen verblind heeft, namelijk der ongelovigen, opdat hen niet bestrale de verlichting van het Evangelie der heerlijkheid van Christus, Die het Beeld Gods is. 5Want wij prediken niet onszelven, maar Christus Jezus, den Heere; en onszelven, dat wij uw dienaars zijn om Jezus' wil. 6Want God, Die gezegd heeft, dat het licht uit de duisternis zou schijnen, is Degene, Die in onze harten geschenen heeft, om te geven verlichting der kennis der heerlijkheid Gods in het aangezicht van Jezus Christus. 7Maar wij hebben dezen schat in aarden vaten, opdat de uitnemendheid der kracht zij van God, en niet uit ons; 8Als die in alles verdrukt worden, doch niet benauwd; twijfelmoedig, doch niet mismoedig; 9Vervolgd, doch niet daarin verlaten; nedergeworpen, doch niet verdorven; 10Altijd de doding van den Heere Jezus in het lichaam omdragende, opdat ook het leven van Jezus in ons lichaam zou geopenbaard worden. 11Want wij, die leven, worden altijd in den dood overgegeven om Jezus' wil; opdat ook het leven van Jezus in ons sterfelijk vlees zou geopenbaard worden. 12Zo dan, de dood werkt wel in ons, maar het leven in ulieden. 13Dewijl wij nu denzelfden Geest des geloofs hebben, gelijk er geschreven is: Ik heb geloofd, daarom heb ik gesproken; zo geloven wij ook, daarom spreken wij ook; 14Wetende, dat Hij, Die den Heere Jezus opgewekt heeft, ook ons door Jezus zal opwekken, en met ulieden daar zal stellen. 15Want al deze dingen zijn om uwentwil, opdat de vermenigvuldigde genade, door de dankzegging van velen, overvloedig worde ter heerlijkheid Gods. 16Daarom vertragen wij niet; maar hoewel onze uitwendige mens verdorven wordt, zo wordt nochtans de inwendige vernieuwd van dag tot dag. 17Want onze lichte verdrukking, die zeer haast voorbij gaat, werkt ons een gans zeer uitnemend eeuwig gewicht der heerlijkheid; 18Dewijl wij niet aanmerken de dingen, die men ziet, maar de dingen, die men niet ziet; want de dingen, die men ziet, zijn tijdelijk, maar de dingen, die men niet ziet, zijn eeuwig.
