1Pagkatapos ng mga bagay na ito ay naparoon si Jesus sa kabilang ibayo ng dagat ng Galilea, na siyang dagat ng Tiberias. 2At sumusunod sa kaniya ang lubhang maraming tao, sapagka't kanilang nangakikita ang mga tanda na ginagawa niya sa mga maysakit. 3At umahon si Jesus sa bundok, at doo'y naupo siya na kasama ng kaniyang mga alagad. 4Malapit na nga ang paskua, na pista ng mga Judio. 5Itinanaw nga ni Jesus ang kaniyang mga mata, at pagkakita na ang lubhang maraming tao'y lumalapit sa kaniya, ay sinabi kay Felipe, Saan tayo magsisibili ng tinapay, upang mangakakain ang mga ito? 6At ito'y sinabi niya upang siya'y subukin: sapagka't nalalaman niya sa kaniyang sarili kung ano ang kaniyang gagawin. 7Sumagot si Felipe sa kaniya, Hindi magkakasiya sa kanila ang dalawang daang denariong tinapay, upang makakain ng kaunti ang bawa't isa. 8Sinabi sa kaniya ng isa sa kaniyang mga alagad, si Andres, na kapatid ni Simon Pedro, 9May isang batang lalake rito, na mayroong limang tinapay na sebada, at dalawang isda: datapuwa't gaano na ang mga ito sa ganyang karamihan? 10Sinabi ni Jesus, Inyong paupuin ang mga tao. Madamo nga sa dakong yaon. Kaya't nagsiupo ang mga lalake, na may limang libo ang bilang. 11Kinuha nga ni Jesus ang mga tinapay; at nang makapagpasalamat, ay ipinamahagi niya sa kanilang nangakaupo; at gayon din naman binigyan sila ng mga isda kung gaanong ibigin nila. 12At nang sila'y mangabusog, ay sinabi niya sa kaniyang mga alagad, Pulutin ninyo ang mga pinagputolputol na lumabis, upang walang anomang masayang. 13Kaya't kanilang tinipon, at nangapuno ang labingdalawang bakol ng mga pinagputolputol sa limang tinapay na sebada, na lumabis sa nagsikain. 14Kaya't nang makita ng mga tao ang tandang ginawa niya, ay kanilang sinabi, Totoong ito nga ang propeta na paririto sa sanglibutan. 15Nang mapaghalata nga ni Jesus na sila'y magsisilapit at siya'y agawin, upang siya'y gawing hari, ay muling nagbalik sa bundok na nagiisa. 16At nang kinahapunan, ay nagsilusong ang kaniyang mga alagad sa dagat; 17At nagsilulan sila sa isang daong, at kanilang tinatawid ang dagat hanggang sa Capernaum. At madilim na nga, at hindi dumarating sa kanila si Jesus. 18At lumalaki ang dagat dahil sa isang malakas na hanging humihihip. 19Nang sila nga'y mangakagaod na ng may dalawangpu't lima o tatlongpung estadio, ay kanilang nakita si Jesus na lumalakad sa ibabaw ng dagat, at lumalapit sa daong: at sila'y nangahintakutan. 20Datapuwa't sinabi niya sa kanila, Ako nga; huwag kayong mangatakot. 21Malugod nga nilang tinanggap siya sa daong: at pagdaka'y dumating ang daong sa lupang kanilang tinutumpa. 22Nang kinabukasan ay nakita ng karamihang nakatayo sa kabilang ibayo ng dagat na doo'y walang ibang daong, kundi isa, at hindi lumulan sa daong si Jesus na kasama ng kaniyang mga alagad, kundi ang kaniyang mga alagad lamang ang nagsipaglayag 23(Gayon man ay may mga daong na nagsidating na mula sa Tiberias malapit sa dako na kanilang kinainan ng tinapay pagkatapos na makapagpasalamat ang Panginoon): 24Nang makita nga ng karamihan na wala roon si Jesus, ni ang kaniyang mga alagad man, ay nagsilulan sila sa mga daong, at nagsidating sa Capernaum, na hinahanap si Jesus. 25At nang siya'y kanilang masumpungan sa kabilang ibayo ng dagat, ay kanilang sinabi sa kanila, Rabi, kailan ka dumating dito? 26Sinagot sila ni Jesus at sinabi, Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa inyo, Ako'y inyong hinahanap, hindi dahil sa inyong nangakitang mga tanda, kundi dahil sa kayo'y nagsikain ng tinapay, at kayo'y nangabusog. 27Magsigawa kayo hindi dahil sa pagkaing napapanis, kundi dahil sa pagkaing tumatagal sa buhay na walang hanggan, na ibibigay sa inyo ng Anak ng tao: sapagka't siyang tinatakan ng Ama, sa makatuwid baga'y ang Dios. 28Sinabi nga nila sa kaniya, Ano ang kinakailangan naming gawin, upang aming magawa ang mga gawa ng Dios? 29Sumagot si Jesus at sa kanila'y sinabi, Ito ang gawa ng Dios, na inyong sampalatayanan yaong kaniyang sinugo. 30Sinabi nga nila sa kaniya, Ano nga ang inyong ginagawa na pinakatanda, upang aming makita, at sampalatayanan ka namin? ano ang ginagawa mo? 31Nagsikain ang aming mga magulang ng mana sa ilang; gaya ng nasusulat, Tinapay na galing sa langit ang sa kanila'y kaniyang ipinakain. 32Sinabi nga sa kanila ni Jesus, Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa inyo, Hindi si Moises ang nagbigay sa inyo ng tinapay na galing sa langit; kundi ang aking Ama ang nagbibigay sa inyo ng tunay na tinapay na galing sa langit. 33Sapagka't ang tinapay ng Dios ay yaong bumababang mula sa langit, at nagbibigay buhay sa sanglibutan. 34Sa kaniya nga'y kanilang sinabi, Panginoon, bigyan mo kaming palagi ng tinapay na ito. 35Sa kanila'y sinabi ni Jesus, Ako ang tinapay ng kabuhayan: ang lumalapit sa akin ay hindi magugutom, at ang sumasampalataya sa akin kailan ma'y hindi mauuhaw. 36Datapuwa't sinabi ko sa inyo, na nakita ninyo ako, at gayon ma'y hindi kayo nagsisampalataya. 37Ang lahat ng ibinibigay sa akin ng Ama ay magsisilapit sa akin; at ang lumalapit sa akin sa anomang paraan ay hindi ko itataboy. 38Sapagka't bumaba akong mula sa langit, hindi upang gawin ko ang aking sariling kalooban, kundi ang kalooban ng nagsugo sa akin. 39At ito ang kalooban ng nagsugo sa akin, na sa lahat ng ibinigay niya sa akin ay huwag kong iwala ang anoman, kundi ibangon sa huling araw. 40Sapagka't ito ang kalooban ng aking Ama, na ang bawa't nakakakita sa Anak, at sa kaniya'y sumampalataya, ay magkaroon ng walang hanggang buhay; at akin siyang ibabangon sa huling araw. 41Ang mga Judio nga ay nagbulongbulungan tungkol sa kaniya sapagka't kaniyang sinabi, Ako ang tinapay na bumabang galing sa langit. 42At kanilang sinabi, Hindi baga ito'y si Jesus, ang anak ni Jose, na nakikilala natin ang kaniyang ama at ina? paano ngang sinasabi niya, Ako'y bumabang galing sa langit? 43Sumagot si Jesus at sa kanila'y sinabi, Huwag kayong mangagbulongbulungan. 44Walang taong makalalapit sa akin, maliban nang ang Amang nagsugo sa akin ang sa kaniya'y magdala sa akin; at siya'y aking ibabangon sa huling araw. 45Nasusulat sa mga propeta, At tuturuan silang lahat ng Dios. Ang bawa't nakarinig sa Ama, at natuto, ay lumalapit sa akin. 46Hindi sa ang sinoma'y nakakita sa Ama, kundi yaong nanggaling sa Dios, siya ang nakakita sa Ama. 47Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa inyo, Ang sumasampalataya ay may buhay na walang hanggan. 48Ako ang tinapay ng kabuhayan. 49Nagsikain ang inyong mga magulang ng mana sa ilang, at sila'y nangamatay. 50Ito ang tinapay na bumababang galing sa langit, upang ang taong makakain, ay huwag mamatay. 51Ako ang tinapay na buhay na bumabang galing sa langit: kung ang sinoman ay kumain ng tinapay na ito, siya'y mabubuhay magpakailan man: oo at ang tinapay na aking ibibigay ay ang aking laman, sa ikabubuhay ng sanglibutan. 52Ang mga Judio nga'y nangagtatalo, na nangagsasabi, Paanong maipakakain sa atin ng taong ito ang kaniyang laman? 53Sinabi nga sa kanila ni Jesus, Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa inyo, Maliban nang inyong kanin ang laman ng Anak ng tao at inumin ang kaniyang dugo, ay wala kayong buhay sa inyong sarili. 54Ang kumakain ng aking laman at umiinom ng aking dugo ay may buhay na walang hanggan; at siya'y aking ibabangon sa huling araw. 55Sapagka't ang aking laman ay tunay na pagkain, at ang aking dugo ay tunay na inumin. 56Ang kumakain ng aking laman at umiinom ng aking dugo ay nananahan sa akin, at ako'y sa kaniya. 57Kung paanong sinugo ako ng Amang buhay, at ako'y nabubuhay dahil sa Ama; gayon din naman ang kumakain sa akin, siya nama'y mabubuhay dahil sa akin. 58Ito ang tinapay na bumabang galing sa langit: hindi gaya ng mga magulang na nagsikain, at nangamatay; ang kumakain ng tinapay na ito ay mabubuhay magpakailan man. 59Sinabi niya ang mga bagay na ito sa sinagoga, samantalang siya'y nagtuturo sa Capernaum. 60Marami nga sa kaniyang mga alagad, nang kanilang marinig ito, ay nangagsabi, Matigas ang pananalitang ito; sino ang makaririnig noon? 61Datapuwa't pagkaalam ni Jesus sa kaniyang sarili na nagbubulongbulungan ang kaniyang mga alagad tungkol dito, sa kanila'y sinabi, Ito baga'y nakapagpapatisod sa inyo? 62Ano nga kung makita ninyong umaakyat ang Anak ng tao sa kinaroroonan niya nang una? 63Ang espiritu nga ang bumubuhay; sa laman ay walang anomang pinakikinabang: ang mga salitang sinalita ko sa inyo ay pawang espiritu, at pawang buhay. 64Datapuwa't may ilan sa inyong hindi nagsisisampalataya. Sapagka't talastas na ni Jesus buhat pa nang una kung sino-sino ang hindi nagsisisampalataya, at kung sino ang sa kaniya'y magkakanulo. 65At sinabi niya, Dahil dito'y sinabi ko sa inyo, na walang taong makalalapit sa akin, maliban na ipagkaloob sa kaniya ng Ama. 66Dahil dito'y marami sa kaniyang mga alagad ay nagsitalikod, at hindi na nagsisama sa kaniya. 67Sinabi nga ni Jesus sa labingdalawa, Ibig baga ninyong magsialis din naman? 68Sinagot siya ni Simon Pedro, Panginoon, kanino kami magsisiparoon? ikaw ang may mga salita ng buhay na walang hanggan. 69At kami'y nagsisisampalataya at nakikilala namin na ikaw ang Banal ng Dios. 70Sinagot sila ni Jesus, Hindi baga hinirang ko kayong labingdalawa, at ang isa sa inyo ay diablo? 71Tinukoy nga niya si Judas na anak ni Simon Iscariote, sapagka't siya ang sa kaniya'y magkakanulo, palibhasa'y isa sa labingdalawa.
1After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias. 2A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick. 3Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples. 4Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. 5Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?” 6This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. 7Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that everyone of them may receive a little.” 8One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, 9“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?” 10Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired. 12When they were filled, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost.” 13So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten. 14When therefore the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, “This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.” 15Jesus therefore, perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself. 16When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, 17and they entered into the boat, and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them. 18The sea was tossed by a great wind blowing. 19When therefore they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing near to the boat; and they were afraid. 20But he said to them, “It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 21They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at the land where they were going. 22On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn’t entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone. 23However boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks. 24When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus wasn’t there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. 25When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled. 27Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.” 28They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?” 29Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30They said therefore to him, “What then do you do for a sign, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you do? 31Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, ‘He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’” 32Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven. 33For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.” 34They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.” 35Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. 36But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don’t believe. 37All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out. 38For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. 39This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day. 40This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” 41The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, “I am the bread which came down out of heaven.” 42They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say, ‘I have come down out of heaven?’” 43Therefore Jesus answered them, “Don’t murmur among yourselves. 44No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day. 45It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to me. 46Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father. 47Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life. 48I am the bread of life. 49Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die. 51I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” 52The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves. 54He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him. 57As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he who feeds on me, he will also live because of me. 58This is the bread which came down out of heaven—not as our fathers ate the manna, and died. He who eats this bread will live forever.” 59He said these things in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. 60Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying! Who can listen to it?” 61But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble? 62Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? 63It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life. 64But there are some of you who don’t believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who didn’t believe, and who it was who would betray him. 65He said, “For this cause have I said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by my Father.” 66At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You don’t also want to go away, do you?” 68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 70Jesus answered them, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” 71Now he spoke of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, for it was he who would betray him, being one of the twelve.
1Na dezen vertrok Jezus over de zee van Galilea, welke is de zee van Tiberias. 2En Hem volgde een grote schare, omdat zij Zijn tekenen zagen, die Hij deed aan de kranken. 3En Jezus ging op den berg, en zat aldaar neder met Zijn discipelen. 4En het pascha, het feest der Joden, was nabij. 5Jezus dan, de ogen opheffende, en ziende, dat een grote schare tot Hem kwam, zeide tot Filippus: Van waar zullen wij broden kopen, opdat deze eten mogen? 6(Doch dit zeide Hij, hem beproevende; want Hij wist Zelf, wat Hij doen zou.) 7Filippus antwoordde Hem: Voor tweehonderd penningen brood is voor dezen niet genoeg, opdat een iegelijk van hen een weinig neme. 8Een van Zijn discipelen, namelijk Andreas, de broeder van Simon Petrus, zeide tot Hem: 9Hier is een jongsken, dat vijf gerstebroden heeft, en twee visjes; maar wat zijn deze onder zo velen? 10En Jezus zeide: Doet de mensen nederzitten. En er was veel gras in die plaats. Zo zaten dan de mannen neder, omtrent vijf duizend in getal. 11En Jezus nam de broden, en gedankt hebbende, deelde Hij ze den discipelen, en de discipelen dengenen, die nedergezeten waren; desgelijks ook van de visjes, zoveel zij wilden. 12En als zij verzadigd waren, zeide Hij tot Zijn discipelen: Vergadert de overgeschoten brokken, opdat er niets verloren ga. 13Zij vergaderden ze dan, en vulden twaalf korven met brokken van de vijf gerstebroden, welke overgeschoten waren dengenen, die gegeten hadden. 14De mensen dan, gezien hebbende het teken, dat Jezus gedaan had, zeiden: Deze is waarlijk de Profeet, Die in de wereld komen zou. 15Jezus dan, wetende, dat zij zouden komen, en Hem met geweld nemen, opdat zij Hem Koning maakten, ontweek wederom op den berg, Hij Zelf alleen. 16En als het avond geworden was, gingen Zijn discipelen af naar de zee. 17En in het schip gegaan zijnde, kwamen zij over de zee naar Kapernaum. En het was alrede duister geworden, en Jezus was tot hen niet gekomen. 18En de zee verhief zich, overmits er een grote wind waaide. 19En als zij omtrent vijf en twintig of dertig stadien gevaren waren, zagen zij Jezus, wandelende op de zee, en komende bij het schip; en zij werden bevreesd. 20Maar Hij zeide tot hen: Ik ben het; zijt niet bevreesd. 21Zij hebben dan Hem gewilliglijk in het schip genomen; en terstond kwam het schip aan het land, daar zij naar toe voeren. 22Des anderen daags de schare, die aan de andere zijde der zee stond, ziende, dat aldaar geen ander scheepje was dan dat ene, daar Zijn discipelen ingegaan waren, en dat Jezus met Zijn discipelen in dat scheepje niet was gegaan, maar dat Zijn discipelen alleen weggevaren waren; 23(Doch er kwamen andere scheepjes van Tiberias, nabij de plaats, waar zij het brood gegeten hadden, als de Heere gedankt had.) 24Toen dan de schare zag, dat Jezus aldaar niet was, noch Zijn discipelen, zo gingen zij ook in de schepen, en kwamen te Kapernaum, zoekende Jezus. 25En als zij Hem gevonden hadden over de zee, zeiden zij tot Hem: Rabbi, wanneer zijt Gij hier gekomen? 26Jezus antwoordde hun en zeide: Voorwaar, voorwaar zeg Ik u: gij zoekt Mij, niet omdat gij tekenen gezien hebt, maar omdat gij van de broden gegeten hebt, en verzadigd zijt. 27Werkt niet om de spijs, die vergaat, maar om de spijs, die blijft tot in het eeuwige leven, welke de Zoon des mensen ulieden geven zal; want Dezen heeft God de Vader verzegeld. 28Zij zeiden dan tot Hem: Wat zullen wij doen, opdat wij de werken Gods mogen werken? 29Jezus antwoordde en zeide tot hen: Dit is het werk Gods, dat gij gelooft in Hem, Dien Hij gezonden heeft. 30Zij zeiden dan tot Hem: Wat teken doet Gij dan, opdat wij het mogen zien, en U geloven? Wat werkt Gij? 31Onze vaders hebben het Manna gegeten in de woestijn; gelijk geschreven is: Hij gaf hun het brood uit den hemel te eten. 32Jezus dan zeide tot hen: Voorwaar, voorwaar zeg Ik u: Mozes heeft u niet gegeven het brood uit den hemel; maar Mijn Vader geeft u dat ware Brood uit den hemel. 33Want het Brood Gods is Hij, Die uit den hemel nederdaalt, en Die der wereld het leven geeft. 34Zij zeiden dan tot Hem: Heere, geef ons altijd dit Brood. 35En Jezus zeide tot hen: Ik ben het Brood des levens; die tot Mij komt, zal geenszins hongeren, en die in Mij gelooft, zal nimmermeer dorsten. 36Maar Ik heb u gezegd, dat gij Mij ook gezien hebt, en gij gelooft niet. 37Al wat Mij de Vader geeft, zal tot Mij komen; en die tot Mij komt, zal Ik geenszins uitwerpen. 38Want Ik ben uit den hemel nedergedaald, niet opdat Ik Mijn wil zou doen, maar den wil Desgenen, Die Mij gezonden heeft. 39En dit is de wil des Vaders, Die Mij gezonden heeft, dat al wat Hij Mij gegeven heeft, Ik daaruit niet verlieze, maar hetzelve opwekke ten uitersten dage. 40En dit is de wil Desgenen, Die Mij gezonden heeft, dat een iegelijk, die den Zoon aanschouwt, en in Hem gelooft, het eeuwige leven hebbe; en Ik zal hem opwekken ten uitersten dage. 41De Joden dan murmureerden over Hem, omdat Hij gezegd had: Ik ben het Brood, Dat uit den hemel nedergedaald is. 42En zij zeiden: Is deze niet Jezus, de Zoon van Jozef, Wiens vader en moeder wij kennen? Hoe zegt Deze dan: Ik ben uit den hemel nedergedaald? 43Jezus antwoordde dan, en zeide tot hen: Murmureert niet onder elkander. 44Niemand kan tot Mij komen, tenzij dat de Vader, Die Mij gezonden heeft, hem trekke; en Ik zal hem opwekken ten uitersten dage. 45Er is geschreven in de profeten: En zij zullen allen van God geleerd zijn. Een iegelijk dan, die het van den Vader gehoord en geleerd heeft, die komt tot Mij. 46Niet dat iemand den Vader gezien heeft, dan Die van God is; Deze heeft den Vader gezien. 47Voorwaar, voorwaar zeg Ik u: Die in Mij gelooft, heeft het eeuwige leven. 48Ik ben het Brood des levens. 49Uw vaders hebben het Manna gegeten in de woestijn, en zij zijn gestorven. 50Dit is het Brood, dat uit den hemel nederdaalt, opdat de mens daarvan ete, en niet sterve. 51Ik ben dat levende Brood, dat uit den hemel nedergedaald is; zo iemand van dit Brood eet, die zal in der eeuwigheid leven. En het Brood, dat Ik geven zal, is Mijn vlees, hetwelk Ik geven zal voor het leven der wereld. 52De Joden dan streden onder elkander, zeggende: Hoe kan ons deze Zijn vlees te eten geven? 53Jezus dan zeide tot hen: Voorwaar, voorwaar zeg Ik ulieden: Tenzij dat gij het vlees des Zoons des mensen eet, en Zijn bloed drinkt, zo hebt gij geen leven in uzelven. 54Die Mijn vlees eet, en Mijn bloed drinkt, die heeft het eeuwige leven; en Ik zal hem opwekken ten uitersten dage. 55Want Mijn vlees is waarlijk Spijs, en Mijn bloed is waarlijk Drank. 56Die Mijn vlees eet, en Mijn bloed drinkt, die blijft in Mij, en Ik in hem. 57Gelijkerwijs Mij de levende Vader gezonden heeft, en Ik leve door den Vader; alzo die Mij eet, dezelve zal leven door Mij. 58Dit is het Brood, dat uit den hemel nedergedaald is; niet gelijk uw vaders het Manna gegeten hebben, en zijn gestorven. Die dit Brood eet, zal in der eeuwigheid leven. 59Deze dingen zeide Hij in de synagoge, lerende te Kapernaum. 60Velen dan van Zijn discipelen, dit horende, zeiden: Deze rede is hard; wie kan dezelve horen? 61Jezus nu, wetende bij Zichzelven, dat Zijn discipelen daarover murmureerden, zeide tot hen: Ergert ulieden dit? 62Wat zou het dan zijn, zo gij de Zoon des mensen zaagt opvaren, daar Hij te voren was? 63De Geest is het, Die levend maakt; het vlees is niet nut. De woorden, die Ik tot u spreek, zijn geest en zijn leven. 64Maar er zijn sommigen van ulieden, die niet geloven. Want Jezus wist van den beginne, wie zij waren, die niet geloofden, en wie hij was, die Hem verraden zou. 65En Hij zeide: Daarom heb Ik u gezegd, dat niemand tot Mij komen kan, tenzij dat het hem gegeven zij van Mijn Vader. 66Van toen af gingen velen Zijner discipelen terug, en wandelden niet meer met Hem. 67Jezus dan zeide tot de twaalven: Wilt gijlieden ook niet weggaan? 68Simon Petrus dan antwoordde Hem: Heere, tot Wien zullen wij heengaan? Gij hebt de woorden des eeuwigen levens. 69En wij hebben geloofd en bekend, dat Gij zijt de Christus, de Zoon des levenden Gods. 70Jezus antwoordde hun: Heb Ik niet u twaalf uitverkoren? En een uit u is een duivel. 71En Hij zeide dit van Judas, Simons zoon, Iskariot; want deze zou Hem verraden, zijnde een van de twaalven.
