1Si Joatham ay may dalawangpu't limang taon nang siya'y magpasimulang maghari; at siya'y nagharing labing anim na taon sa Jerusalem: at ang pangalan ng kaniyang ina ay Jerusa na anak ni Sadoc. 2At siya'y gumawa ng matuwid sa harap ng mga mata ng Panginoon, ayon sa lahat na ginawa ng kaniyang amang si Uzzias: gayon ma'y hindi siya pumasok sa templo ng Panginoon, At ang bayan ay gumawa pa ng kapahamakan. 3Siya'y nagtayo ng mataas na pintuang-daan ng bahay ng Panginoon, at sa kuta ng Ophel ay nagtayo siya ng marami. 4Bukod dito'y nagtayo siya ng mga bayan sa lupaing maburol ng Juda, at sa mga gubat ay nagtayo siya ng mga palasyo at mga moog. 5Siya'y nakipaglaban din naman sa hari ng mga anak ni Ammon, at nanaig laban sa kanila. At ang mga anak ni Ammon ay nagsipagbigay sa kaniya ng taon ding yaon ng isang daang talentong pilak, at sangpung libong karo ng trigo, at sangpung libo ng sebada. Gayon ding karami ang ibinayad ng mga anak ni Ammon sa kaniya sa ikalawang taon naman, at sa ikatlo. 6Sa gayo'y si Joatham ay naging makapangyarihan, sapagka't kaniyang inayos ang kaniyang mga lakad sa harap ng Panginoon niyang Dios. 7Ang iba nga sa mga gawa ni Joatham, at ang lahat niyang mga pakikipagdigma, at ang kaniyang mga lakad, narito, nangasusulat sa aklat ng mga hari sa Israel, at sa Juda. 8Siya'y may dalawangpu't limang taon nang siya'y magpasimulang maghari, at nagharing labing anim na taon sa Jerusalem. 9At si Joatham ay natulog na kasama ng kaniyang mga magulang, at inilibing nila siya sa bayan ni David: at si Achaz na kaniyang anak ay naghari na kahalili niya.

1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok. 2He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Uzziah had done: however he didn’t enter into Yahweh’s temple. The people still did corruptly. 3He built the upper gate of Yahweh’s house, and on the wall of Ophel he built much. 4Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers. 5He fought also with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The children of Ammon gave that much to him in the second year also, and in the third. 6So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Yahweh his God. 7Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. 8He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. 9Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.

1Jotham was vijf en twintig jaren oud, toen hij koning werd, en hij regeerde zestien jaren te Jeruzalem; en de naam zijner moeder was Jerusa, een dochter van Zadok. 2En hij deed dat recht was in de ogen des HEEREN, naar alles, wat zijn vader Uzzia gedaan had, behalve dat hij in den tempel des HEEREN niet ging; en het volk verdierf zich nog. 3Dezelve bouwde de hoge poorten aan het huis des HEEREN; hij bouwde ook veel aan den muur van Ofel. 4Daartoe bouwde hij steden op het gebergte van Juda; en in de wouden bouwde hij burchten en torens. 5Hij krijgde ook tegen den koning der kinderen Ammons, en had de overhand over hen, zodat de kinderen Ammons in datzelfde jaar hem gaven honderd talenten zilvers, en tien duizend kor tarwe, en tien duizend gerst; dit brachten hem de kinderen Ammons wederom, ook in het tweede en in het derde jaar. 6Alzo versterkte zich Jotham; want hij richtte zijn wegen voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, zijns Gods. 7Het overige nu der geschiedenissen van Jotham, en al zijn krijgen, en zijn wegen, ziet, zij zijn geschreven in het boek der koningen van Israel en Juda. 8Hij was vijf en twintig jaren oud, toen hij koning werd; en hij regeerde zestien jaren te Jeruzalem. 9En Jotham ontsliep met zijn vaderen, en zij begroeven hem in de stad Davids; en zijn zoon Achaz werd koning in zijn plaats.
