1Datapuwa't tungkol sa mga kapanahunan at mga bahagi ng panahon, mga kapatid, hindi ninyo kailangan na isulat ko pa sa inyo ang anoman. 2Sapagka't kayo rin ang mga lubos na nangakakaalam, na ang pagdating ng kaarawan ng Panginoon ay gaya ng magnanakaw sa gabi. 3Pagka sinasabi ng mga tao, Kapayapaan at katiwasayan, kung magkagayo'y darating sa kanila ang biglang pagkawasak, na gaya ng pagdaramdam, sa panganganak ng babaing nagdadalang-tao; at sila'y hindi mangakatatanan sa anomang paraan. 4Nguni't kayo, mga kapatid, ay wala sa kadiliman, upang sa araw na yaon ay masubukan kayong gaya ng magnanakaw: 5Sapagka't kayong lahat ay pawang mga anak ng kaliwanagan, at mga anak ng araw: tayo'y hindi ng gabi, ni ng kadiliman man; 6Huwag nga tayong mangatulog, gaya ng mga iba, kundi tayo'y mangagpuyat at mangagpigil. 7Sapagka't ang nangatutulog ay nangatutulog sa gabi; at ang nangaglalasing ay nangaglalasing sa gabi. 8Datapuwa't palibhasa'y mga anak tayo ng araw, mangagpigil tayo, na isuot ang baluti ng pananampalataya at ng pagibig; at ang maging turbante ay ang pagasa ng kaligtasan. 9Sapagka't tayo'y hindi itinalaga ng Dios sa galit, kundi sa pagtatamo ng pagkaligtas sa pamamagitan ng ating Panginoong Jesucristo, 10Na namatay dahil sa atin, upang tayo, sa gising o tulog man, ay mangabuhay tayong kasama niya. 11Dahil dito kayo'y mangagpangaralan, at mangagpatibayan sa isa't isa sa inyo, gaya ng inyong ginagawa. 12Datapuwa't ipinamamanhik namin sa inyo, mga kapatid, na inyong kilalanin ang nangagpapagal sa inyo, at nangamumuno sa inyo sa Panginoon, at nangagpapaalaala sa inyo; 13At inyong lubos na pakamahalin sila sa pagibig, dahil sa kanilang gawa. Magkaroon kayo-kayo ng kapayapaan. 14At aming ipinamamanhik sa inyo, mga kapatid, na inyong paalalahanan ang mga manggugulo, palakasin ang mga mahihinang-loob, alalayan ang mga mahihina, at maging mapagpahinuhod kayo sa lahat. 15Tingnan nga ninyo na huwag gumanti ang sinoman ng masama sa masama; nguni't sundin ninyong lagi ang mabuti, ang isa'y sa iba, at sa lahat. 16Mangagalak kayong lagi; 17Magsipanalangin kayong walang patid; 18Sa lahat ng mga bagay ay magpasalamat kayo; sapagka't ito ang kalooban ng Dios kay Cristo tungkol sa inyo. 19Huwag ninyong patayin ang ningas ng Espiritu; 20Huwag ninyong hamakin ang mga panghuhula; 21Subukin ninyo ang lahat ng mga bagay, ingatan ninyo ang mabuti; 22Layuan ninyo ang bawa't anyo ng masama. 23At pakabanalin kayong lubos ng Dios din ng kapayapaan; at ang inyong espiritu at kaluluwa at katawan ay ingatang buo, na walang kapintasan sa pagparito ng ating Panginoong Jesucristo. 24Tapat yaong sa inyo'y tumatawag, na gagawa rin naman nito. 25Mga kapatid, idalangin ninyo kami. 26Batiin ninyo ang lahat ng mga kapatid ng banal na halik. 27Idinadaing ko sa inyo alangalang sa Panginoon na basahin sa lahat ng mga kapatid ang sulat na ito. 28Ang biyaya ng ating Panginoong Jesucristo ay sumainyo nawa.
1But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you. 2For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night. 3For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape. 4But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief. 5You are all children of light, and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness, 6so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober. 7For those who sleep, sleep in the night, and those who are drunk are drunk in the night. 8But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation. 9For God didn’t appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do. 12But we beg you, brothers, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you, 13and to respect and honor them in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves. 14We exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the faint-hearted, support the weak, be patient toward all. 15See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good, for one another, and for all. 16Rejoice always. 17Pray without ceasing. 18In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you. 19Don’t quench the Spirit. 20Don’t despise prophesies. 21Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. 22Abstain from every form of evil. 23May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it. 25Brothers, pray for us. 26Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss. 27I solemnly command you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers. 28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. 1Maar van de tijden en de gelegenheden, broeders! hebt gij niet van node, dat men u schrijve. 2Want gij weet zelven zeer wel, dat de dag des Heeren alzo zal komen, gelijk een dief in de nacht. 3Want wanneer zij zullen zeggen: Het is vrede, en zonder gevaar; dan zal een haastig verderf hun overkomen, gelijk de barensnood een bevruchte vrouw; en zij zullen het geenszins ontvlieden; 4Maar gij, broeders, gij zijt niet in duisternis, dat u die dag als een dief zou bevangen. 5Gij zijt allen kinderen des lichts, en kinderen des daags; wij zijn niet des nachts, noch der duisternis. 6Zo laat ons dan niet slapen, gelijk als de anderen, maar laat ons waken, en nuchteren zijn. 7Want die slapen, slapen des nachts, en die dronken zijn, zijn des nachts dronken; 8Maar wij, die des daags zijn, laat ons nuchteren zijn, aangedaan hebbende het borstwapen des geloofs en der liefde, en tot een helm, de hoop der zaligheid. 9Want God heeft ons niet gesteld tot toorn, maar tot verkrijging der zaligheid, door onzen Heere Jezus Christus; 10Die voor ons gestorven is, opdat wij, hetzij dat wij waken, hetzij dat wij slapen, te zamen met Hem leven zouden. 11Daarom vermaant elkander, en sticht de een den anderen, gelijk gij ook doet. 12En wij bidden u, broeders, erkent degenen, die onder u arbeiden, en uw voorstanders zijn in den Heere, en u vermanen; 13En acht hen zeer veel in liefde, om huns werks wil. Zijt vreedzaam onder elkander. 14En wij bidden u, broeders, vermaant de ongeregelden, vertroost de kleinmoedigen, ondersteunt de zwakken, zijt lankmoedig jegens allen. 15Ziet, dat niemand kwaad voor kwaad iemand vergelde; maar jaagt allen tijd het goede na, zo jegens elkander als jegens allen. 16Verblijdt u te allen tijd. 17Bidt zonder ophouden. 18Dankt God in alles; want dit is de wil van God in Christus Jezus over u. 19Blust den Geest niet uit. 20Veracht de profetieen niet. 21Beproeft alle dingen; behoudt het goede. 22Onthoudt u van allen schijn des kwaads. 23En de God des vredes Zelf heilige u geheel en al; en uw geheel oprechte geest, en ziel, en lichaam worde onberispelijk bewaard in de toekomst van onzen Heere Jezus Christus. 24Hij, Die u roept, is getrouw, Die het ook doen zal. 25Broeders, bidt voor ons. 26Groet al de broeders met een heiligen kus. 27Ik bezweer ulieden bij den Heere, dat deze zendbrief al den heiligen broederen gelezen worde. 28De genade van onzen Heere Jezus Christus zij met ulieden. Amen.
