Kumbukumbu la Torati 11

1Mpende Bwana Mungu wako na kushika masharti yake, amri zake, sheria zake na maagizo yake siku zote. 2Kumbuka hivi leo kwamba sio watoto wako walioona na kujua adhabu ya Bwana Mungu wako: utukufu wake, mkono wake wenye nguvu, mkono wake ulionyooshwa; 3ishara alizozifanya na mambo aliyoyafanya katikati ya Misri, kwa Farao mfalme wa Misri na kwa nchi yake yote; 4lile alilolifanyia jeshi la Wamisri, farasi na magari yake, jinsi alivyowafurikisha na maji ya Bahari ya Shamu walipokuwa wakiwafuatilia ninyi, na jinsi Bwana alivyowaletea angamizo la kudumu juu yao. 5Sio watoto wenu walioyaona yale Mungu aliyowafanyia huko jangwani mpaka mkafika mahali hapa, 6wala lile Mungu alilowafanyia Dathani na Abiramu, wana wa Eliabu wa kabila la Reubeni, wakati ardhi ilipofungua kinywa chake katikati ya Israeli yote, ikawameza pamoja na walio nyumbani mwao, hema zao na kila kitu kilichokuwa hai ambacho kilikuwa mali yao. 7Bali ilikuwa ni macho yenu wenyewe ambayo yaliyaona mambo haya yote makuu Bwana aliyoyatenda. 8Kwa hiyo fuateni maagizo yote ninayowapa leo, ili mpate kuwa na nguvu za kuingia na kuiteka nchi ile ambayo mnavuka Yordani kuimiliki, 9ili mpate kuishi siku nyingi katika nchi ile ambayo Bwana aliapa kuwapa baba zenu na wazao wao, nchi itiririkayo maziwa na asali. 10Nchi mnayoiingia kuimiliki haifanani na nchi ya Misri mlikotoka ambako mlipanda mbegu yenu na kuinywesha, kama bustani ya mboga. 11Lakini nchi mnayovuka Yordani kuimiliki ni nchi ya milima na mabonde inywayo mvua kutoka mbinguni. 12Ni nchi ambayo Bwana Mungu wenu anaitunza; macho ya Bwana Mungu wenu yanaitazama daima kutoka mwanzo wa mwaka hadi mwisho wa mwaka. 13Hivyo kama mkiyatii maagizo yangu ninayowapa leo kwa uaminifu, yaani kwa kumpenda Bwana Mungu wenu, na kumtumikia kwa moyo wako wote na kwa roho yenu yote, 14ndipo atawanyweshea mvua katika nchi yenu kwa majira yake, mvua ya masika na ya vuli, ili mpate kuvuna nafaka zenu, divai mpya na mafuta. 15Nitawapa majani kwa ajili ya ngʼombe wenu, nanyi mtakula na kushiba. 16Jihadharini, la sivyo mtashawishika kugeuka na kuabudu miungu mingine na kuisujudia. 17Ndipo hasira ya Bwana itawaka dhidi yenu, naye atafunga mbingu ili mvua isinyeshe nayo ardhi haitatoa mazao, nanyi mtaangamia mara katika nchi nzuri ambayo Bwana anawapa. 18Yawekeni haya maneno yangu katika mioyo yenu na akili zenu, yafungeni kama alama juu ya mikono yenu na kwenye paji za nyuso zenu. 19Wafundisheni watoto wenu, yazungumzeni wakati mketipo nyumbani na wakati mtembeapo njiani, wakati mlalapo na wakati mwamkapo. 20Yaandikeni juu ya miimo ya nyumba zenu na juu ya malango yenu, 21ili kwamba siku zenu na siku za watoto wenu zipate kuwa nyingi katika nchi ile Bwana aliyoapa kuwapa baba zenu, kama zilivyo nyingi siku za mbingu juu ya nchi. 22Kama mkishika kwa makini maagizo haya yote ninayowapa kuyafuata, ya kumpenda Bwana Mungu wenu, kuenenda katika njia zake zote na kushikamana naye kwa uthabiti, 23ndipo Bwana atawafukuza mataifa haya yote mbele yako, nawe utawafukuza mataifa yaliyo makubwa na yenye nguvu kukuliko wewe. 24Kila mahali mtakapoweka mguu wenu patakuwa penu: Nchi yenu itaenea kutoka jangwa la Lebanoni, na kutoka mto wa Frati hadi bahari ya magharibi 25Hapatakuwa na mtu atakayeweza kusimama dhidi yenu. Bwana Mungu wenu, kama alivyoahidi, ataweka juu ya nchi yote utisho na hofu kwa ajili yenu popote mwendako. 26Tazama, leo ninaweka mbele yenu baraka na laana: 27baraka kama mtatii maagizo ya Bwana Mungu wenu, ambayo ninawapa leo; 28laana kama hamtatii maagizo ya Bwana Mungu wenu na kuacha njia ambayo ninawaamuru leo kwa kufuata miungu mingine, ambayo hamkuijua. 29Wakati Bwana Mungu wenu atakapokuwa amewaleta katika nchi mnayoiingia kuimiliki, mtatangaza baraka kutoka Mlima Gerizimu, na kutangaza laana kutoka Mlima Ebali. 30Kama mnavyofahamu, milima hii ipo ngʼambo ya Yordani, magharibi ya barabara, kuelekea machweo ya jua, karibu na miti mikubwa ya More, katika nchi ya wale Wakanaani wanaoishi Araba, jirani na Gilgali. 31Karibu mvuke ngʼambo ya Yordani kuingia na kuimiliki nchi ambayo Bwana Mungu wenu anawapa. Wakati mtakapokuwa mmeichukua na mnaishi humo, 32hakikisheni kwamba mnatii amri na sheria zote ninazoziweka mbele yenu leo.

1Therefore you shall love Yahweh your God, and keep his instructions, his statutes, his ordinances, and his commandments, always. 2Know this day: for I don’t speak with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, his outstretched arm, 3his signs, and his works, which he did in the midst of Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land; 4and what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how Yahweh has destroyed them to this day; 5and what he did to you in the wilderness, until you came to this place; 6and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the midst of all Israel; 7but your eyes have seen all of Yahweh’s great work which he did. 8Therefore you shall keep all the commandment which I command you this day, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land, where you go over to possess it; 9and that you may prolong your days in the land, which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give to them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey. 10For the land, where you go in to possess it, isn’t as the land of Egypt, that you came out of, where you sowed your seed, and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs; 11but the land, where you go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water from the rain of the sky, 12a land which Yahweh your God cares for. Yahweh your God’s eyes are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year. 13It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you this day, to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. 15I will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full. 16Be careful, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; 17and Yahweh’s anger be kindled against you, and he shut up the sky, so that there is no rain, and the land doesn’t yield its fruit; and you perish quickly from off the good land which Yahweh gives you. 18Therefore you shall lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. 19You shall teach them your children, talking of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. 20You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates; 21that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth. 22For if you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him; 23then will Yahweh drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves. 24Every place whereon the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even to the western sea shall be your border. 25No man will be able to stand before you. Yahweh your God will lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you tread on, as he has spoken to you. 26Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse: 27the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I command you this day; 28and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which you have not known. 29It shall happen, when Yahweh your God brings you into the land where you go to possess it, that you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal. 30Aren’t they beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the Arabah, near Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh? 31For you are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and you shall possess it, and dwell therein. 32You shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you this day.

1Daarom zult gij den HEERE, uw God, liefhebben, en gij zult te allen dage onderhouden Zijn bevel, en Zijn inzettingen, en Zijn rechten, en Zijn geboden. 2En gijlieden zult heden weten, dat ik niet spreek met uw kinderen, die het niet weten, en de onderwijzing des HEEREN, uws Gods, niet gezien hebben. Zijn grootheid, Zijn sterke hand en Zijn uitgestrekten arm; 3Daartoe Zijn tekenen en Zijn daden, die Hij in het midden van Egypte gedaan heeft, aan Farao, den koning van Egypte, en aan zijn ganse land; 4En wat Hij gedaan heeft aan het heir der Egyptenaren, aan deszelfs paarden en aan deszelfs wagenen; dat Hij de wateren van de Schelfzee boven hun aangezicht deed overzwemmen, als zij ulieden van achteren vervolgden; en de HEERE verdeed hen, tot op dezen dag. 5En wat Hij ulieden gedaan heeft in de woestijn, totdat gij gekomen zijt aan deze plaats. 6Daarboven, wat Hij gedaan heeft aan Dathan, en aan Abiram, zonen van Eliab, den zoon van Ruben; hoe de aarde haar mond opendeed, en hen verslond met hun huisgezinnen, en hun tenten, ja, al wat bestond, dat hun aanging, in het midden van gans Israel. 7Want het zijn uw ogen, die gezien hebben al dit grote werk des HEEREN, dat Hij gedaan heeft. 8Houdt dan alle geboden, die ik u heden gebiede; opdat gij gesterkt wordt en inkomt, en erft het land, waarheen gij overtrekt, om dat te erven; 9En opdat gij de dagen verlengt in het land, dat de HEERE uw vaderen gezworen heeft, aan hen en aan hun zaad te geven; een land, vloeiende van melk en honig. 10Want het land, waar gij naar toe gaat, om dat te erven, is niet als Egypteland, van waar gij uitgegaan zijt, hetwelk gij bezaaidet met uw zaad, en bewaterdet met uw gang, als een kruidhof. 11Maar het land, waarheen gij overtrekt, om dat te erven, is een land van bergen en van dalen; het drinkt water bij den regen des hemels; 12Een land, dat de HEERE, uw God, bezorgt; de ogen des HEEREN, uws Gods, zijn gedurig daarop, van het begin des jaars tot het einde des jaars. 13En het zal geschieden, zo gij naarstiglijk zult horen naar Mijn geboden, die Ik u heden gebiede, om den HEERE, uw God, lief te hebben, en Hem te dienen, met uw ganse hart en met uw ganse ziel; 14Zo zal Ik den regen uws lands geven te Zijner tijd, vroegen regen en spaden regen, opdat gij uw koren, en uw most, en uw olie inzamelt. 15En Ik zal kruid geven op uw veld voor uw beesten; en gij zult eten en verzadigd worden. 16Wacht uzelven, dat ulieder hart niet verleid worde, dat gij afwijkt, en andere goden dient, en u voor die buigt; 17Dat de toorn des HEEREN tegen ulieden ontsteke, en Hij den hemel toesluite, dat er geen regen zij, en het aardrijk zijn gewas niet geve; en gij haastelijk omkomt van het goede land, dat u de HEERE geeft. 18Legt dan deze mijn woorden in uw hart, en in uw ziel, en bindt ze tot een teken op uw hand, dat zij tot voorhoofdspanselen zijn tussen uw ogen; 19En leert die uw kinderen, sprekende daarvan, als gij in uw huis zit, en als gij op den weg gaat, en als gij nederligt, en als gij opstaat; 20En schrijft ze op de posten van uw huis, en aan uw poorten; 21Opdat uw dagen, en de dagen uwer kinderen, in het land, dat de HEERE uw vaderen gezworen heeft hun te geven, vermenigvuldigen, gelijk de dagen des hemels op de aarde. 22Want zo gij naarstiglijk houdt al deze geboden, die ik u gebiede om die te doen, den HEERE, uw God, liefhebbende, wandelende in al Zijn wegen, en Hem aanhangende; 23Zo zal de HEERE al deze volken voor uw aangezicht uit de bezitting verdrijven, en gij zult erfelijk bezitten groter en machtiger volken, dan gij zijt. 24Alle plaats, waar uw voetzool op treedt, zal de uwe zijn; van de woestijn en den Libanon, van de rivier, de rivier Frath, tot aan de achterste zee, zal uw landpale zijn. 25Niemand zal voor uw aangezicht bestaan; de HEERE, uw God, zal uw schrik en uw vreze geven over al het land, waarop gij treden zult, gelijk als Hij tot u gesproken heeft. 26Ziet, ik stel ulieden heden voor, zegen en vloek: 27Den zegen, wanneer gij horen zult naar de geboden des HEEREN, uws Gods, die ik u heden gebiede; 28Maar den vloek, zo gij niet horen zult naar de geboden des HEEREN, uws Gods, en afwijkt van den weg, dien ik u heden gebiede, om andere goden na te wandelen, die gij niet gekend hebt. 29En het zal geschieden, als u de HEERE, uw God, zal hebben ingebracht in het land, waar gij naar toe gaat, om dat te erven; dan zult gij den zegen uitspreken op den berg Gerizim, en den vloek op den berg Ebal. 30Zijn zij niet aan gene zijde van de Jordaan, achter den weg van den ondergang der zon, in het land der Kanaanieten, die in het vlakke veld wonen, tegenover Gilgal, bij de eikenbossen van More? 31Want gijlieden zult over de Jordaan gaan, dat gij inkomet om te erven dat land, dat de HEERE, uw God, u geven zal; en gij zult het erfelijk bezitten, en daarin wonen. 32Neemt dan waar te doen al de inzettingen en de rechten, die ik u heden voorstel.
