1Sikilizeni neno hili alilosema Bwana dhidi yenu, enyi watu wa Israeli, dhidi ya jamaa nzima niliowapandisha toka Misri: 2“Ni ninyi tu niliowachagua kati ya jamaa zote za dunia; kwa hiyo nitawaadhibu kwa ajili ya dhambi zenu zote.” 3Je, watu wawili hutembea pamoja wasipokubaliana kufanya hivyo? 4Je, simba hunguruma katika kichaka wakati hana mawindo? Aweza kuvuma katika pango wakati ambao hajakamata chochote? 5Je, ndege aweza kuanguka kwenye mtego ulio ardhini ambapo hajategewa chambo? Je, mtego unaweza kufyatuka toka ardhini wakati ambapo hakuna chochote cha kunasa? 6Je, tarumbeta inapopigwa mjini kujulisha hatari, watu hawatetemeki? Mji upatwapo na maafa, je, si Bwana amesababisha? 7Hakika Bwana Mwenyezi hatafanya neno lolote bila kuwafunulia watumishi wake manabii siri yake. 8Simba amenguruma: je, ni nani ambaye hataogopa? Bwana Mwenyezi ametamka: je, ni nani awezaye kukosa kutoa unabii? 9Tangazeni katika ngome za Ashdodi na katika ngome za Misri: “Kusanyikeni juu ya milima ya Samaria; angalieni wingi wa wasiwasi ulio ndani yake, na uonevu ulio miongoni mwa watu wake.” 10Bwana asema: “Hawajui kutenda lililo jema, wale ambao hujilundikia nyara na vitu vilivyotekwa katika ngome zao.” 11Kwa hiyo hili ndilo asemalo Bwana Mwenyezi: “Adui ataizingira nchi; ataangusha chini ngome zenu na kuteka nyara maboma yenu.” 12Hili ndilo asemalo Bwana: “Kama vile mchungaji aokoavyo kinywani mwa simba vipande viwili tu vya mfupa wa mguu au kipande cha sikio, hivyo ndivyo Waisraeli watakavyookolewa, wale wakaao Samaria kwenye kingo za vitanda vyao, na katika Dameski kwenye viti vyao vya fahari.” 13“Sikia hili na ushuhudie dhidi ya nyumba ya Yakobo,” asema Bwana, Bwana Mungu Mwenye Nguvu Zote. 14“Siku nitakapomwadhibu Israeli kwa sababu ya dhambi zake, nitaharibu madhabahu za Betheli; pembe za madhabahu zitakatiliwa mbali na kuanguka chini. 15Nitabomoa nyumba ya wakati wa masika, pamoja na nyumba ya wakati wa kiangazi; nyumba zilizonakshiwa kwa pembe za ndovu na majumba makubwa ya fahari yatabomolewa,” asema Bwana.

1Hear this word that Yahweh has spoken against you, children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying: 2“You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your sins.” 3Do two walk together, unless they have agreed? 4Will a lion roar in the thicket, when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing? 5Can a bird fall in a trap on the earth, where no snare is set for him? Does a snare spring up from the ground, when there is nothing to catch? 6Does the trumpet alarm sound in a city, without the people being afraid? Does evil happen to a city, and Yahweh hasn’t done it? 7Surely the Lord Yahweh will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets. 8The lion has roared. Who will not fear? The Lord Yahweh has spoken. Who can but prophesy? 9Proclaim in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, “Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria, and see what unrest is in her, and what oppression is among them.” 10“Indeed they don’t know to do right,” says Yahweh, “Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.” 11Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: “An adversary will overrun the land; and he will pull down your strongholds, and your fortresses will be plundered.” 12Thus says Yahweh: “As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued who sit in Samaria on the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.” 13“Listen, and testify against the house of Jacob,” says the Lord Yahweh, the God of Armies. 14“For in the day that I visit the transgressions of Israel on him, I will also visit the altars of Bethel; and the horns of the altar will be cut off, and fall to the ground. 15I will strike the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory will perish, and the great houses will have an end,” says Yahweh.

1Hoort dit woord, dat de HEERE tegen ulieden spreekt, gij kinderen van Israel! namelijk tegen het ganse geslacht, dat Ik uit Egypteland heb opgevoerd, zeggende: 2Uit alle geslachten des aardbodems heb Ik ulieden alleen gekend; daarom zal Ik al uw ongerechtigheden over ulieden bezoeken. 3Zullen twee te zamen wandelen, tenzij dat zij bijeengekomen zijn? 4Zal een leeuw brullen in het woud, als hij geen roof heeft? Zal een jonge leeuw uit zijn hol zijn stem verheffen, tenzij dat hij wat gevangen hebbe? 5Zal een vogel in den strik op de aarde vallen, als er geen strik voor hem is? Zal men den strik van den aardbodem opnemen, als men ganselijk niet heeft gevangen? 6Zal de bazuin in de stad geblazen worden, dat het volk niet siddere? zal er een kwaad in de stad zijn, dat de HEERE niet doet? 7Gewisselijk, de Heere HEERE zal geen ding doen, tenzij Hij Zijn verborgenheid aan Zijn knechten, de profeten, geopenbaard hebbe. 8De leeuw heeft gebruld, wie zou niet vrezen? De Heere HEERE heeft gesproken, wie zou niet profeteren? 9Doet het horen in de paleizen te Asdod, en in de paleizen in Egypteland, en zegt: Verzamelt u op de bergen van Samaria, en ziet de grote beroerten in het midden van haar, en de verdrukten binnen in haar. 10Want zij weten niet te doen, dat recht is, spreekt de HEERE; die in hun paleizen schatten vergaderen door geweld en verstoring. 11Daarom, zo zegt de Heere HEERE: De vijand! en dat rondom het land! die zal uw sterkte van u nederstorten, en uw paleizen zullen uitgeplunderd worden. 12Alzo zegt de HEERE: Gelijk als een herder twee schenkelen, of een stukje van een oor uit des leeuwen muil redt, alzo zullen de kinderen Israels gered worden, die daar zitten te Samaria, in den hoek van het bed, en op de sponde van de koets. 13Hoort en betuigt in het huis Jakobs, spreekt de Heere HEERE, de God der heirscharen; 14Dat Ik, ten dage als Ik Israels overtredingen over hem bezoeken zal, ook bezoeking zal doen over de altaren van Beth-El; en de hoornen des altaars zullen worden afgehouwen, en ter aarde vallen. 15En Ik zal het winterhuis met het zomerhuis slaan; en de elpenbenen huizen zullen vergaan, en de grote huizen een einde nemen, spreekt de HEERE.
