2 Timotheo 2

1Basi, wewe mwanangu, uwe hodari katika neema iliyo ndani ya Kristo Yesu. 2Nayo mambo yale uliyonisikia nikiyasema mbele ya mashahidi wengi, uwakabidhi watu waaminifu watakaoweza kuwafundisha watu wengine vilevile. 3Vumilia taabu pamoja nasi kama askari mwema wa Kristo Yesu. 4Hakuna askari yeyote ambaye akiwa vitani hujishughulisha na mambo ya kawaida ya maisha haya kwa sababu nia yake ni kumpendeza yule aliyemwandika awe askari. 5Vivyo hivyo, yeye ashindanaye katika michezo hawezi kupewa tuzo ya ushindi asiposhindana kulingana na kanuni za mashindano. 6Mkulima mwenye bidii ya kazi ndiye anayestahili kuwa wa kwanza kupata fungu la mavuno. 7Fikiri sana kuhusu haya nisemayo, kwa maana Bwana atakupa ufahamu katika mambo hayo yote. 8Mkumbuke Yesu Kristo, aliyefufuliwa kutoka kwa wafu, yeye aliye wa uzao wa Daudi. Hii ndiyo Injili yangu, 9ambayo kwayo ninateseka hata kufikia hatua ya kufungwa minyororo kama mhalifu. Lakini neno la Mungu halifungwi. 10Kwa hiyo ninavumilia mambo yote kwa ajili ya wateule wa Mungu, kusudi wao nao wapate wokovu ulio katika Kristo Yesu, pamoja na utukufu wa milele. 11Hili ni neno la kuaminiwa: Kwa maana kama tumekufa pamoja naye, tutaishi pia pamoja naye. 12Kama tukistahimili, pia tutatawala pamoja naye. Kama tukimkana yeye, naye atatukana sisi. 13Kama tusipoamini, yeye hudumu kuwa mwaminifu, kwa maana hawezi kujikana mwenyewe. 14Endelea kuwakumbusha mambo haya ukiwaonya mbele za Bwana waache kushindana kwa maneno ambayo hayana faida yoyote bali huwaangamiza tu wale wanaoyasikia. 15Jitahidi kujionyesha kwa Mungu kuwa umekubaliwa naye, mtendakazi asiye na sababu ya kuona aibu, ukilitumia kwa usahihi neno la kweli. 16Jiepushe na maneno mabaya, yasiyo na maana, yasiyo ya utauwa, kwa maana hayo huzidi kuwatosa watu katika kukosa heshima kwa Mungu. 17Mafundisho yao yataenea kama kidonda kisichopona. Miongoni mwao wamo Himenayo na Fileto 18ambao wameiacha kweli, wakisema kwamba ufufuo wa wafu umekwisha kuwako, nao huharibu imani ya baadhi ya watu. 19Lakini msingi wa Mungu ulio imara umesimama, ukiwa na muhuri wenye maandishi haya: “Bwana anawajua walio wake”; tena, “Kila alitajaye jina la Bwana, na auache uovu.” 20Katika nyumba kubwa si kwamba kuna vyombo vya dhahabu na fedha tu, bali pia vimo vyombo vya miti na vya udongo; vingine kwa matumizi maalum, na vingine kwa matumizi ya kawaida. 21Basi ikiwa mtu amejitakasa na kujitenga na hayo niliyoyataja, atakuwa chombo maalum, kilichotengwa na ambacho kinamfaa mwenye nyumba, kimeandaliwa tayari kwa kila kazi njema. 22Zikimbie tamaa mbaya za ujana, ufuate haki, imani, upendo na amani pamoja na wale wamwitao Bwana kwa moyo safi. 23Jiepushe na mabishano ya kipumbavu na yasiyo na maana, kwa kuwa wajua ya kwamba hayo huzaa magomvi. 24Tena haimpasi mtumishi wa Bwana kuwa mgomvi, bali inampasa awe mwema kwa kila mtu, awezaye kufundisha, tena mvumilivu. 25Inampasa kuwaonya kwa upole wale wanaopingana naye, kwa matumaini kwamba Mungu atawajalia kutubu na kuijua kweli, 26ili fahamu zao ziwarudie tena, nao waponyoke katika mtego wa ibilisi ambaye amewateka wapate kufanya mapenzi yake.

1You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. 3You therefore must endure hardship, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier. 5Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn’t crowned unless he has competed by the rules. 6The farmers who labor must be the first to get a share of the crops. 7Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. 8Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my Good News, 9in which I suffer hardship to the point of chains as a criminal. But God’s word isn’t chained. 10Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones’ sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11This saying is faithful: “For if we died with him, we will also live with him. 12If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us. 13If we are faithless, he remains faithful. He can’t deny himself.” 14Remind them of these things, charging them in the sight of the Lord, that they don’t argue about words, to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear. 15Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth. 16But shun empty chatter, for it will go further in ungodliness, 17and those words will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some. 19However God’s firm foundation stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.” 20Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor, and some for dishonor. 21If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work. 22Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife. 24The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle towards all, able to teach, patient, 25in gentleness correcting those who oppose him: perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth, 26and they may recover themselves out of the devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to his will.

1Gij dan, mijn zoon, word gesterkt in de genade, die in Christus Jezus is; 2En hetgeen gij van mij gehoord hebt onder vele getuigen, betrouw dat aan getrouwe mensen, welke bekwaam zullen zijn om ook anderen te leren. 3Gij dan, lijd verdrukkingen, als een goed krijgsknecht van Jezus Christus. 4Niemand, die in de krijg dient, wordt ingewikkeld in de handelingen des leeftochts, opdat hij dien moge behagen, die hem tot den krijg aangenomen heeft. 5En indien ook iemand strijdt, die wordt niet gekroond, zo hij niet wettelijk heeft gestreden. 6De landman, als hij arbeidt, moet alzo eerst de vruchten genieten. 7Merk, hetgeen ik zeg; doch de Heere geve u verstand in alle dingen. 8Houd in gedachtenis, dat Jezus Christus uit de doden is opgewekt, Welke is uit den zade Davids, naar mijn Evangelie; 9Om hetwelk ik verdrukkingen lijde tot de banden toe, als een kwaaddoener; maar het Woord Gods is niet gebonden. 10Daarom verdraag ik alles om de uitverkorenen, opdat ook zij de zaligheid zouden verkrijgen, die in Christus Jezus is, met eeuwige heerlijkheid. 11Dit is een getrouw woord; want indien wij met Hem gestorven zijn, zo zullen wij ook met Hem leven; 12Indien wij verdragen, wij zullen ook met Hem heersen; indien wij Hem verloochenen, Hij zal ons ook verloochenen; 13Indien wij ontrouw zijn, Hij blijft getrouw; Hij kan Zichzelven niet verloochenen. 14Breng deze dingen in gedachtenis, en betuig voor den Heere, dat zij geen woordenstrijd voeren, hetwelk tot geen ding nut is, dan tot verkering der toehoorders. 15Benaarstig u, om uzelven Gode beproefd voor te stellen, een arbeider, die niet beschaamd wordt, die het Woord der waarheid recht snijdt. 16Maar stel u tegen het ongoddelijk ijdelroepen; want zij zullen in meerdere goddeloosheid toenemen. 17En hun woord zal voorteten, gelijk de kanker; onder welke is Hymeneus en Filetus; 18Die van de waarheid zijn afgeweken, zeggende, dat de opstanding alrede geschied is, en verkeren sommiger geloof. 19Evenwel het vaste fondament Gods staat, hebbende dit zegel: De Heere kent degenen, die de Zijnen zijn; en: Een iegelijk, die den Naam van Christus noemt, sta af van ongerechtigheid. 20Doch in een groot huis zijn niet alleen gouden en zilveren vaten, maar ook houten en aarden vaten; en sommige ter ere, maar sommige ter onere. 21Indien dan iemand zichzelven van deze reinigt, die zal een vat zijn ter ere, geheiligd en bekwaam tot gebruik des Heeren, tot alle goed werk toebereid. 22Maar vlied de begeerlijkheden der jonkheid; en jaag naar rechtvaardigheid, geloof, liefde, vrede, met degenen, die den Heere aanroepen uit een rein hart. 23En verwerp de vragen, die dwaas en zonder lering zijn, wetende, dat zij twistingen voortbrengen. 24En een dienstknecht des Heeren moet niet twisten, maar vriendelijk zijn jegens allen, bekwaam om te leren, en die de kwaden kan verdragen; 25Met zachtmoedigheid onderwijzende degenen, die tegenstaan; of hun God te eniger tijd bekering gave tot erkentenis der waarheid; 26En zij wederom ontwaken mochten uit den strik des duivels, onder welken zij gevangen waren tot zijn wil.
