1De vinte e cinco anos era Jotão quando começou a reinar, e dezesseis anos reinou em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe foi Jerusa, filha de Zadoque. 2E fez o que era correto em olhos do SENHOR, conforme a todas as coisas que havia feito Uzias seu pai, salvo que não entrou no templo do SENHOR. E o povo corrompia-se ainda. 3Edificou ele a porta maior da casa do SENHOR, e no muro da fortaleza edificou muito. 4Ademais edificou cidades nas montanhas de Judá, e preparou palácios e torres nos bosques. 5Também teve ele guerra com o rei dos filhos de Amom, aos quais venceu; e deram-lhe os filhos de Amom naquele ano cem talentos de prata, e dez mil coros de trigo, e dez mil de cevada. Isto lhe deram os filhos de Amom, e o mesmo no segundo ano, e no terceiro. 6Assim que Jotão foi fortificado, porque preparou seus caminhos diante do SENHOR seu Deus. 7Os demais dos feitos de Jotão, e todas suas guerras, e seus caminhos, eis que estão escrito no livro dos reis de Israel e de Judá. 8Quando começou a reinar era de vinte e cinco anos, e dezesseis reinou em Jerusalém. 9E descansou Jotão com seus pais, e sepultaram-no na cidade de Davi; e reinou em seu lugar Acaz seu filho.
1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok. 2He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Uzziah had done: however he didn’t enter into Yahweh’s temple. The people still did corruptly. 3He built the upper gate of Yahweh’s house, and on the wall of Ophel he built much. 4Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers. 5He fought also with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The children of Ammon gave that much to him in the second year also, and in the third. 6So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Yahweh his God. 7Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. 8He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. 9Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.
1Jotham was vijf en twintig jaren oud, toen hij koning werd, en hij regeerde zestien jaren te Jeruzalem; en de naam zijner moeder was Jerusa, een dochter van Zadok. 2En hij deed dat recht was in de ogen des HEEREN, naar alles, wat zijn vader Uzzia gedaan had, behalve dat hij in den tempel des HEEREN niet ging; en het volk verdierf zich nog. 3Dezelve bouwde de hoge poorten aan het huis des HEEREN; hij bouwde ook veel aan den muur van Ofel. 4Daartoe bouwde hij steden op het gebergte van Juda; en in de wouden bouwde hij burchten en torens. 5Hij krijgde ook tegen den koning der kinderen Ammons, en had de overhand over hen, zodat de kinderen Ammons in datzelfde jaar hem gaven honderd talenten zilvers, en tien duizend kor tarwe, en tien duizend gerst; dit brachten hem de kinderen Ammons wederom, ook in het tweede en in het derde jaar. 6Alzo versterkte zich Jotham; want hij richtte zijn wegen voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, zijns Gods. 7Het overige nu der geschiedenissen van Jotham, en al zijn krijgen, en zijn wegen, ziet, zij zijn geschreven in het boek der koningen van Israel en Juda. 8Hij was vijf en twintig jaren oud, toen hij koning werd; en hij regeerde zestien jaren te Jeruzalem. 9En Jotham ontsliep met zijn vaderen, en zij begroeven hem in de stad Davids; en zijn zoon Achaz werd koning in zijn plaats.
