1E come il giorno della Pentecoste fu giunto, tutti erano insieme nel medesimo luogo. 2E di subito si fece dal cielo un suono come di vento impetuoso che soffia, ed esso riempì tutta la casa dov’essi sedevano. 3E apparvero loro delle lingue come di fuoco che si dividevano, e se ne posò una su ciascuno di loro. 4E tutti furon ripieni dello Spirito Santo, e cominciarono a parlare in altre lingue, secondo che lo Spirito dava loro d’esprimersi. 5Or in Gerusalemme si trovavan di soggiorno dei Giudei, uomini religiosi d’ogni nazione di sotto il cielo. 6Ed essendosi fatto quel suono, la moltitudine si radunò e fu confusa, perché ciascuno li udiva parlare nel suo proprio linguaggio. 7E tutti stupivano e si maravigliavano, dicendo: Ecco, tutti costoro che parlano non son eglino Galilei? 8E com’è che li udiamo parlare ciascuno nel nostro proprio natìo linguaggio? 9Noi Parti, Medi, Elamiti, abitanti della Mesopotamia, della Giudea e della Cappadocia, del Ponto e dell’Asia, 10della Frigia e della Panfilia, dell’Egitto e delle parti della Libia Cirenaica, e avventizi Romani, 11tanto Giudei che proseliti, Cretesi ed Arabi, li udiamo parlar delle cose grandi di Dio nelle nostre lingue. 12E tutti stupivano ed eran perplessi dicendosi l’uno all’altro: Che vuol esser questo? 13Ma altri, beffandosi, dicevano: Son pieni di vin dolce. 14Ma Pietro, levatosi in piè con gli undici, alzò la voce e parlò loro in questa maniera: Uomini giudei, e voi tutti che abitate in Gerusalemme, siavi noto questo, e prestate orecchio alle mie parole. 15Perché costoro non sono ebbri, come voi supponete, poiché non è che la terza ora del giorno: 16ma questo è quel che fu detto per mezzo del profeta Gioele: 17E avverrà negli ultimi giorni, dice Iddio, che io spanderò del mio Spirito sopra ogni carne; e i vostri figliuoli e le vostre figliuole profeteranno, e i vostri giovani vedranno delle visioni, e i vostri vecchi sogneranno dei sogni. 18E anche sui miei servi e sulle mie serventi, in quei giorni, spanderò del mio Spirito, e profeteranno. 19E farò prodigi su nel cielo, e segni giù sulla terra; sangue e fuoco, e vapor di fumo. 20Il sole sarà mutato in tenebre, e la luna in sangue, prima che venga il grande e glorioso giorno, che è il giorno del Signore. 21Ed avverrà che chiunque avrà invocato il nome del Signore sarà salvato. 22Uomini israeliti, udite queste parole: Gesù il Nazareno, uomo che Dio ha accreditato fra voi mediante opere potenti e prodigi e segni che Dio fece per mezzo di lui fra voi, come voi stessi ben sapete, 23quest’uomo, allorché vi fu dato nelle mani per il determinato consiglio e per la prescienza di Dio, voi, per man d’iniqui, inchiodandolo sulla croce, lo uccideste; 24ma Dio lo risuscitò, avendo sciolto gli angosciosi legami della morte, perché non era possibile ch’egli fosse da essa ritenuto. 25Poiché Davide dice di lui: Io ho avuto del continuo il Signore davanti agli occhi, perché egli è alla mia destra, affinché io non sia smosso. 26Perciò s’è rallegrato il cuor mio, e ha giubilato la mia lingua, e anche la mia carne riposerà in isperanza; 27poiché tu non lascerai l’anima mia nell’Ades, e non permetterai che il tuo Santo vegga la corruzione. 28Tu m’hai fatto conoscere le vie della vita; tu mi riempirai di letizia con la tua presenza. 29Uomini fratelli, ben può liberamente dirvisi intorno al patriarca Davide, ch’egli morì e fu sepolto; e la sua tomba è ancora al dì d’oggi fra noi. 30Egli dunque, essendo profeta e sapendo che Dio gli avea con giuramento promesso che sul suo trono avrebbe fatto sedere uno dei suoi discendenti, 31antivedendola, parlò della risurrezione di Cristo, dicendo che non sarebbe stato lasciato nell’Ades, e che la sua carne non avrebbe veduto la corruzione. 32Questo Gesù, Iddio l’ha risuscitato; del che noi tutti siamo testimoni. 33Egli dunque, essendo stato esaltato dalla destra di Dio, e avendo ricevuto dal Padre lo Spirito Santo promesso, ha sparso quello che ora vedete e udite. 34Poiché Davide non è salito in cielo; anzi egli stesso dice: Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra, 35finché io abbia posto i tuoi nemici per sgabello de’ tuoi piedi. 36Sappia dunque sicuramente tutta la casa d’Israele che Iddio ha fatto e Signore e Cristo quel Gesù che voi avete crocifisso. 37Or essi, udite queste cose, furon compunti nel cuore, e dissero a Pietro e agli altri apostoli: Fratelli, che dobbiam fare? 38E Pietro a loro: Ravvedetevi, e ciascun di voi sia battezzato nel nome di Gesù Cristo, per la remission de’ vostri peccati, e voi riceverete il dono dello Spirito Santo. 39Poiché per voi è la promessa, e per i vostri figliuoli, e per tutti quelli che son lontani, per quanti il Signore Iddio nostro ne chiamerà. 40E con molte altre parole li scongiurava e li esortava dicendo: Salvatevi da questa perversa generazione. 41Quelli dunque i quali accettarono la sua parola, furon battezzati; e in quel giorno furono aggiunte a loro circa tremila persone. 42Ed erano perseveranti nell’attendere all’insegnamento degli apostoli, nella comunione fraterna, nel rompere il pane e nelle preghiere. 43E ogni anima era presa da timore; e molti prodigi e segni eran fatti dagli apostoli. 44E tutti quelli che credevano erano insieme, ed aveano ogni cosa in comune; 45e vendevano le possessioni ed i beni, e li distribuivano a tutti, secondo il bisogno di ciascuno. 46E tutti i giorni, essendo di pari consentimento assidui al tempio, e rompendo il pane nelle case, prendevano il loro cibo assieme con letizia e semplicità di cuore, 47lodando Iddio, e avendo il favore di tutto il popolo. E il Signore aggiungeva ogni giorno alla loro comunità quelli che erano sulla via della salvazione.
1Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them. 4They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak. 5Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under the sky. 6When this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were bewildered, because everyone heard them speaking in his own language. 7They were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Behold, aren’t all these who speak Galileans? 8How do we hear, everyone in our own native language? 9Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 10Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11Cretans and Arabians: we hear them speaking in our languages the mighty works of God!” 12They were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, “What does this mean?” 13Others, mocking, said, “They are filled with new wine.” 14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke out to them, “You men of Judea, and all you who dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words. 15For these aren’t drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is only the third hour of the day. 16But this is what has been spoken through the prophet Joel: 17‘It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. 18Yes, and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days, I will pour out my Spirit, and they will prophesy. 19I will show wonders in the sky above, and signs on the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and billows of smoke. 20The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes. 21It will be, that whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ 22“Men of Israel, hear these words! Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God to you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in your midst, even as you yourselves know, 23him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed; 24whom God raised up, having freed him from the agony of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it. 25For David says concerning him, ‘I saw the Lord always before my face, For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved. 26Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced. Moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope; 27because you will not leave my soul in Hades, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay. 28You made known to me the ways of life. You will make me full of gladness with your presence.’ 29“Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, 31he foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was his soul left in Hades, nor did his flesh see decay. 32This Jesus God raised up, to which we all are witnesses. 33Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear. 34For David didn’t ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit by my right hand, 35until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’ 36“Let all the house of Israel therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” 37Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.” 40With many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!” 41Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. There were added that day about three thousand souls. 42They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayer. 43Fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44All who believed were together, and had all things in common. 45They sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, according as anyone had need. 46Day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart, 47praising God, and having favor with all the people. The Lord added to the assembly day by day those who were being saved.
1En als de dag van het Pinkster feest vervuld werd, waren zij allen eendrachtelijk bijeen. 2En er geschiedde haastelijk uit den hemel een geluid, gelijk als van een geweldigen, gedreven wind, en vervulde het gehele huis, waar zij zaten. 3En van hen werden gezien verdeelde tongen als van vuur, en het zat op een iegelijk van hen. 4En zij werden allen vervuld met den Heiligen Geest, en begonnen te spreken met andere talen, zoals de Geest hun gaf uit te spreken. 5En er waren Joden, te Jeruzalem wonende, godvruchtige mannen van allen volke dergenen, die onder den hemel zijn. 6En als deze stem geschied was, kwam de menigte samen, en werd beroerd, want een iegelijk hoorde hen in zijn eigen taal spreken. 7En zij ontzetten zich allen, en verwonderden zich, zeggende tot elkander: Ziet, zijn niet alle dezen, die daar spreken, Galileers? 8En hoe horen wij hen een iegelijk in onze eigen taal, in welke wij geboren zijn? 9Parthers, en Meders, en Elamieten, en de inwoners zijn van Mesopotamie, en Judea, en Cappadocie, Pontus en Azie. 10En Frygie, en Pamfylie, Egypte, en de delen van Libye, hetwelk bij Cyrene ligt, en uitlandse Romeinen, beiden Joden en Jodengenoten; 11Kretenzen en Arabieren, wij horen hen in onze talen de grote werken Gods spreken. 12En zij ontzetten zich allen, en werden twijfelmoedig, zeggende, de een tegen den ander: Wat wil toch dit zijn? 13En anderen, spottende, zeiden: Zij zijn vol zoeten wijns. 14Maar Petrus, staande met de elven, verhief zijn stem, en sprak tot hen: Gij Joodse mannen, en gij allen, die te Jeruzalem woont, dit zij u bekend, en laat mijn woorden tot uw oren ingaan. 15Want deze zijn niet dronken, gelijk gij vermoedt; want het is eerst de derde ure van de dag. 16Maar dit is het, wat gesproken is door den profeet Joel: 17En het zal zijn in de laatste dagen, (zegt God) Ik zal uitstorten van Mijn Geest op alle vlees; en uw zonen en uw dochters zullen profeteren, en uw jongelingen zullen gezichten zien, en uw ouden zullen dromen dromen. 18En ook op Mijn dienstknechten, en op Mijn dienstmaagden, zal Ik in die dagen van Mijn Geest uitstorten, en zij zullen profeteren. 19En Ik zal wonderen geven in den hemel boven, en tekenen op de aarde beneden, bloed en vuur, en rookdamp. 20De zon zal veranderd worden in duisternis, en de maan in bloed, eer dat de grote en doorluchtige dag des Heeren komt. 21En het zal zijn, dat een iegelijk, die den Naam des Heeren zal aanroepen, zalig zal worden. 22Gij Israelietische mannen, hoort deze woorden: Jezus den Nazarener, een Man van God, onder ulieden betoond door krachten, en wonderen, en tekenen, die God door Hem gedaan heeft, in het midden van u, gelijk ook gijzelven weet; 23Dezen, door den bepaalden raad en voorkennis Gods overgegeven zijnde, hebt gij genomen, en door de handen der onrechtvaardigen aan het kruis gehecht en gedood; 24Welken God opgewekt heeft, de smarten des doods ontbonden hebbende, alzo het niet mogelijk was, dat Hij van denzelven dood zou gehouden worden. 25Want David zegt van Hem: Ik zag den Heere allen tijd voor mij; want Hij is aan mijn rechter hand, opdat ik niet bewogen worde. 26Daarom is mijn hart verblijd; en mijn tong verheugt zich; ja, ook mijn vlees zal rusten in hope; 27Want Gij zult mijn ziel in de hel niet verlaten, noch zult Uw Heilige over geven, om verderving te zien. 28Gij hebt mij de wegen des levens bekend gemaakt; Gij zult mij vervullen met verheuging door Uw aangezicht. 29Gij mannen broeders, het is mij geoorloofd vrij uit tot u te spreken van den patriarch David, dat hij beide gestorven en begraven is, en zijn graf is onder ons tot op dezen dag. 30Alzo hij dan een profeet was, en wist, dat God hem met ede gezworen had, dat hij uit de vrucht zijner lenden, zoveel het vlees aangaat, den Christus verwekken zou, om Hem op zijn troon te zetten; 31Zo heeft hij, dit voorziende, gesproken van de opstanding van Christus, dat Zijn ziel niet is verlaten in de hel, noch Zijn vlees verderving heeft gezien. 32Dezen Jezus heeft God opgewekt; waarvan wij allen getuigen zijn. 33Hij dan, door de rechter hand Gods verhoogd zijnde, en de belofte des Heiligen Geestes, ontvangen hebbende van den Vader, heeft dit uitgestort, dat gij nu ziet en hoort. 34Want David is niet opgevaren in de hemelen; maar hij zegt: De Heere heeft gesproken tot Mijn Heere: Zit aan Mijn rechter hand. 35Totdat Ik Uw vijanden zal gezet hebben tot een voetbank Uwer voeten. 36Zo wete dan zekerlijk het ganse huis Israels, dat God Hem tot een Heere en Christus gemaakt heeft, namelijk dezen Jezus, Dien gij gekruist hebt. 37En als zij dit hoorden, werden zij verslagen in het hart, en zeiden tot Petrus en de andere apostelen: Wat zullen wij doen mannen broeders? 38En Petrus zeide tot hen: Bekeert u, en een iegelijk van u worde gedoopt in den Naam van Jezus Christus, tot vergeving der zonden; en gij zult de gave des Heiligen Geestes ontvangen. 39Want u komt de belofte toe, en uw kinderen, en allen, die daar verre zijn, zo velen als er de Heere, onze God, toe roepen zal. 40En met veel meer andere woorden betuigde hij, en vermaande hen, zeggende: Wordt behouden van dit verkeerd geslacht! 41Die dan zijn woord gaarne aannamen, werden gedoopt; en er werden op dien dag tot hen toegedaan omtrent drie duizend zielen. 42En zij waren volhardende in de leer der apostelen, en in de gemeenschap, en in de breking des broods, en in de gebeden. 43En een vreze kwam over alle ziel; en vele wonderen en tekenen geschiedden door de apostelen. 44En allen, die geloofden, waren bijeen, en hadden alle dingen gemeen; 45En zij verkochten hun goederen en have, en verdeelden dezelve aan allen, naar dat elk van node had. 46En dagelijks eendrachtelijk in den tempel volhardende, en van huis tot huis brood brekende, aten zij te zamen met verheuging en eenvoudigheid des harten; 47En prezen God, en hadden genade bij het ganse volk. En de Heere deed dagelijks tot de Gemeente, die zalig werden.
