2 Giovanni 1

1L’anziano alla signora eletta e ai suoi figliuoli che io amo in verità (e non io soltanto ma anche tutti quelli che hanno conosciuto la verità), 2a cagione della verità che dimora in noi e sarà con noi in eterno: 3grazia, misericordia, pace saran con noi da Dio Padre e da Gesù Cristo il Figliuolo del Padre, in verità e in carità. 4Mi sono grandemente rallegrato d’aver trovato dei tuoi figliuoli che camminano nella verità, come ne abbiamo ricevuto comandamento dal Padre. 5Ed ora ti prego, signora, non come se ti scrivessi un comandamento nuovo, ma quello che abbiamo avuto dal principio: Amiamoci gli uni gli altri! 6E questo è l’amore: che camminiamo secondo i suoi comandamenti. Questo è il comandamento che avete udito fin dal principio onde camminiate in esso. 7Poiché molti seduttori sono usciti per il mondo i quali non confessano Gesù Cristo esser venuto in carne. Quello è il seduttore e l’anticristo. 8Badate a voi stessi affinché non perdiate il frutto delle opere compiute, ma riceviate piena ricompensa. 9Chi passa oltre e non dimora nella dottrina di Cristo, non ha Iddio. Chi dimora nella dottrina ha il Padre e il Figliuolo. 10Se qualcuno viene a voi e non reca questa dottrina, non lo ricevete in casa, e non lo salutate; 11perché chi lo saluta partecipa alle malvage opere di lui. 12Pur avendo molte cose da scrivervi, non ho voluto farlo per mezzo di carta e d’inchiostro; ma spero di venire da voi e di parlarvi a voce, affinché la vostra allegrezza sia compiuta. 13I figliuoli della tua sorella eletta ti salutano.

1The elder, to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all those who know the truth; 2for the truth’s sake, which remains in us, and it will be with us forever: 3Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 4I rejoice greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, even as we have been commanded by the Father. 5Now I beg you, dear lady, not as though I wrote to you a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. 6This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it. 7For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don’t confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist. 8Watch yourselves, that we don’t lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward. 9Whoever transgresses and doesn’t remain in the teaching of Christ, doesn’t have God. He who remains in the teaching, the same has both the Father and the Son. 10If anyone comes to you, and doesn’t bring this teaching, don’t receive him into your house, and don’t welcome him, 11for he who welcomes him participates in his evil works. 12Having many things to write to you, I don’t want to do so with paper and ink, but I hope to come to you, and to speak face to face, that our joy may be made full. 13The children of your chosen sister greet you. Amen.

1De ouderling aan de uitverkoren vrouwe en aan haar kinderen, die ik in waarheid liefheb, en niet alleen ik, maar ook allen, die de waarheid gekend hebben; 2Om der waarheid wil, die in ons blijft, en met ons zal zijn in der eeuwigheid: 3Genade, barmhartigheid, vrede zij met ulieden van God den Vader, en van den Heere Jezus Christus, den Zoon des Vaders, in waarheid en liefde. 4Ik ben zeer verblijd geweest, dat ik van uw kinderen gevonden heb, die in de waarheid wandelen, gelijk wij een gebod ontvangen hebben van den Vader. 5En nu bid ik u, uitverkoren vrouwe, niet als u schrijvende een nieuw gebod, maar hetgeen wij gehad hebben van den beginne, namelijk dat wij elkander liefhebben. 6En dit is de liefde, dat wij wandelen naar Zijn geboden. Dit is het gebod, gelijk gijlieden van den beginne gehoord hebt, dat gij in hetzelve zoudt wandelen. 7Want er zijn vele verleiders in de wereld gekomen, die niet belijden, dat Jezus Christus in het vlees gekomen is. Deze is de verleider en de antichrist. 8Ziet toe voor uzelven, dat wij niet verliezen, hetgeen wij gearbeid hebben, maar een vol loon mogen ontvangen. 9Een iegelijk, die overtreedt, en niet blijft in de leer van Christus, die heeft God niet; die in de leer van Christus blijft, deze heeft beiden den Vader en den Zoon. 10Indien iemand tot ulieden komt, en deze leer niet brengt, ontvangt hem niet in huis, en zegt tot hem niet: Zijt gegroet. 11Want die tot hem zegt: Zijt gegroet, die heeft gemeenschap aan zijn boze werken. 12Ik heb veel aan ulieden te schrijven, doch ik heb niet gewild door papier en inkt; maar ik hoop tot ulieden te komen, en mond tot mond met u te spreken, opdat onze blijdschap volkomen moge zijn. 13U groeten de kinderen van uw zuster, de uitverkorene. Amen.
