1Lorsque Jésus sortit du temple, un de ses disciples lui dit : Maître, regarde quelles pierres, et quelles constructions ! 2Jésus lui répondit : Vois-tu ces grandes constructions ? Il ne restera pas pierre sur pierre qui ne soit renversée. 3Il s’assit sur la montagne des oliviers, en face du temple. Et Pierre, Jacques, Jean et André lui firent en particulier cette question : 4Dis-nous, quand cela arrivera-t-il, et à quel signe connaîtra-t-on que toutes ces choses vont s’accomplir ? 5Jésus se mit alors à leur dire : Prenez garde que personne ne vous séduise. 6Car plusieurs viendront sous mon nom, disant ; C’est moi. Et ils séduiront beaucoup de gens. 7Quand vous entendrez parler de guerres et de bruits de guerres, ne soyez pas troublés, car il faut que ces choses arrivent. Mais ce ne sera pas encore la fin. 8Une nation s’élèvera contre une nation, et un royaume contre un royaume ; il y aura des tremblements de terre en divers lieux, il y aura des famines. Ce ne sera que le commencement des douleurs. 9Prenez garde à vous-mêmes. On vous livrera aux tribunaux, et vous serez battus de verges dans les synagogues ; vous comparaîtrez devant des gouverneurs et devant des rois, à cause de moi, pour leur servir de témoignage. 10Il faut premièrement que la bonne nouvelle soit prêchée à toutes les nations. 11Quand on vous emmènera pour vous livrer, ne vous inquiétez pas d’avance de ce que vous aurez à dire, mais dites ce qui vous sera donné à l’heure même ; car ce n’est pas vous qui parlerez, mais l’Esprit-Saint. 12Le frère livrera son frère à la mort, et le père son enfant ; les enfants se soulèveront contre leurs parents, et les feront mourir. 13Vous serez haïs de tous, à cause de mon nom, mais celui qui persévérera jusqu’à la fin sera sauvé. 14Lorsque vous verrez l’abomination de la désolation établie là où elle ne doit pas être, -que celui qui lit fasse attention, -alors, que ceux qui seront en Judée fuient dans les montagnes ; 15que celui qui sera sur le toit ne descende pas et n’entre pas pour prendre quelque chose dans sa maison ; 16et que celui qui sera dans les champs ne retourne pas en arrière pour prendre son manteau. 17Malheur aux femmes qui seront enceintes et à celles qui allaiteront en ces jours-là ! 18Priez pour que ces choses n’arrivent pas en hiver. 19Car la détresse, en ces jours, sera telle qu’il n’y en a point eu de semblable depuis le commencement du monde que Dieu a créé jusqu’à présent, et qu’il n’y en aura jamais. 20Et, si le Seigneur n’avait abrégé ces jours, personne ne serait sauvé ; mais il les a abrégés, à cause des élus qu’il a choisis. 21Si quelqu’un vous dit alors : Le Christ est ici, ou : Il est là, ne le croyez pas. 22Car il s’élèvera de faux Christs et de faux prophètes ; ils feront des prodiges et des miracles pour séduire les élus, s’il était possible. 23Soyez sur vos gardes : je vous ai tout annoncé d’avance. 24Mais dans ces jours, après cette détresse, le soleil s’obscurcira, la lune ne donnera plus sa lumière, 25les étoiles tomberont du ciel, et les puissances qui sont dans les cieux seront ébranlées. 26Alors on verra le Fils de l’homme venant sur les nuées avec une grande puissance et avec gloire. 27Alors il enverra les anges, et il rassemblera les élus des quatre vents, de l’extrémité de la terre jusqu’à l’extrémité du ciel. 28Instruisez-vous par une comparaison tirée du figuier. Dès que ses branches deviennent tendres, et que les feuilles poussent, vous connaissez que l’été est proche. 29De même , quand vous verrez ces choses arriver, sachez que le Fils de l’homme est proche, à la porte. 30Je vous le dis en vérité, cette génération ne passera point, que tout cela n’arrive. 31Le ciel et la terre passeront, mais mes paroles ne passeront point. 32Pour ce qui est du jour ou de l’heure, personne ne le sait, ni les anges dans le ciel, ni le Fils, mais le Père seul. 33Prenez garde, veillez et priez ; car vous ne savez quand ce temps viendra. 34Il en sera comme d’un homme qui, partant pour un voyage, laisse sa maison, remet l’autorité à ses serviteurs, indique à chacun sa tâche, et ordonne au portier de veiller. 35Veillez donc, car vous ne savez quand viendra le maître de la maison, ou le soir, ou au milieu de la nuit, ou au chant du coq, ou le matin ; 36craignez qu’il ne vous trouve endormis, à son arrivée soudaine. 37Ce que je vous dis, je le dis à tous : Veillez.
1As he went out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, see what kind of stones and what kind of buildings!” 2Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone on another, which will not be thrown down.” 3As he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately, 4“Tell us, when will these things be? What is the sign that these things are all about to be fulfilled?” 5Jesus, answering, began to tell them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray. 6For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and will lead many astray. 7“When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, don’t be troubled. For those must happen, but the end is not yet. 8For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places. There will be famines and troubles. These things are the beginning of birth pains. 9But watch yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils. You will be beaten in synagogues. You will stand before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them. 10The Good News must first be preached to all the nations. 11When they lead you away and deliver you up, don’t be anxious beforehand, or premeditate what you will say, but say whatever will be given you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. 12“Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. 13You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end, the same will be saved. 14But when you see the abomination of desolation,spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, 15and let him who is on the housetop not go down, nor enter in, to take anything out of his house. 16Let him who is in the field not return back to take his cloak. 17But woe to those who are with child and to those who nurse babies in those days! 18Pray that your flight won’t be in the winter. 19For in those days there will be oppression, such as there has not been the like from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will be. 20Unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved; but for the sake of the chosen ones, whom he picked out, he shortened the days. 21Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, there!’ don’t believe it. 22For there will arise false christs and false prophets, and will show signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones. 23But you watch. “Behold, I have told you all things beforehand. 24But in those days, after that oppression, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, 25the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken. 26Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27Then he will send out his angels, and will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the sky. 28“Now from the fig tree, learn this parable. When the branch has now become tender, and produces its leaves, you know that the summer is near; 29even so you also, when you see these things coming to pass, know that it is near, at the doors. 30Most certainly I say to you, this generationwill not pass away until all these things happen. 31Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. 32But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33Watch, keep alert, and pray; for you don’t know when the time is. 34“It is like a man, traveling to another country, having left his house, and given authority to his servants, and to each one his work, and also commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch. 35Watch therefore, for you don’t know when the lord of the house is coming, whether at evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning; 36lest coming suddenly he might find you sleeping. 37What I tell you, I tell all: Watch.”
1En als Hij uit den tempel ging, zeide een van Zijn discipelen tot Hem: Meester, zie, hoedanige stenen, en hoedanige gebouwen! 2En Jezus, antwoordende, zeide tot hem: Ziet gij deze grote gebouwen? Er zal niet een steen op den anderen steen gelaten worden, die niet afgebroken zal worden. 3En als Hij gezeten was op den Olijfberg, tegen de tempel over, vraagden Hem Petrus, en Jakobus, en Johannes, en Andreas, alleen: 4Zeg ons, wanneer zullen deze dingen zijn? En welk is het teken, wanneer deze dingen alle voleindigd zullen worden? 5En Jezus, hun antwoordende, begon te zeggen: Ziet toe, dat u niemand verleide. 6Want velen zullen komen onder Mijn Naam, zeggende: Ik ben de Christus; en zullen velen verleiden. 7En wanneer gij zult horen van oorlogen, en geruchten van oorlogen, zo wordt niet verschrikt; want dit moet geschieden; maar nog is het einde niet. 8Want het ene volk zal tegen het andere volk opstaan, en het ene koninkrijk tegen het andere koninkrijk; en er zullen aardbevingen zijn in verscheidene plaatsen, en er zullen hongersnoden wezen, en beroerten. Deze dingen zijn maar beginselen der smarten. 9Maar ziet gij voor uzelven toe; want zij zullen u overleveren in de raadsvergaderingen, en in de synagogen; gij zult geslagen worden, en voor stadhouders en koningen zult gij gesteld worden, om Mijnentwil, hun tot een getuigenis. 10En het Evangelie moet eerst gepredikt worden onder al de volken. 11Doch wanneer zij u leiden zullen, om u over te leveren, zo zijt te voren niet bezorgd, wat gij spreken zult, en bedenkt het niet; maar zo wat u in die ure gegeven zal worden, spreekt dat; want gij zijt het niet, die spreekt, maar de Heilige Geest. 12En de ene broeder zal den anderen overleveren tot den dood, en de vader het kind; en de kinderen zullen opstaan tegen de ouders, en zullen hen doden. 13En gij zult gehaat worden van allen, om Mijns Naams wil; maar wie volharden zal tot het einde, die zal zalig worden. 14Wanneer gij dan zult zien den gruwel der verwoesting, waarvan door den profeet Daniel gesproken is, staande waar het niet behoort, (die het leest, die merke daarop!) alsdan, die in Judea zijn, dat zij vlieden op de bergen. 15En die op het dak is, kome niet af in het huis, en ga niet in, om iets uit zijn huis weg te nemen. 16En die op den akker is, kere niet weder terug, om zijn kleed te nemen. 17Maar wee den bevruchten en den zogenden vrouwen in die dagen! 18Doch bidt, dat uw vlucht niet geschiede des winters. 19Want die dagen zullen zulke verdrukking zijn, welker gelijke niet geweest is van het begin der schepselen, die God geschapen heeft, tot nu toe, en ook niet zijn zal. 20En indien de Heere de dagen niet verkort had, geen vlees zou behouden worden; maar om der uitverkorenen wil, die Hij heeft uitverkoren, heeft Hij de dagen verkort. 21En alsdan, zo iemand tot ulieden zal zeggen: Ziet, hier is de Christus; of ziet, Hij is daar; gelooft het niet. 22Want er zullen valse christussen, en valse profeten opstaan, en zullen tekenen en wonderen doen, om te verleiden, indien het mogelijk ware, ook de uitverkorenen. 23Maar gijlieden ziet toe; ziet, Ik heb u alles voorzegd! 24Maar in die dagen, na die verdrukking, zal de zon verduisterd worden, en de maan zal haar schijnsel niet geven. 25En de sterren des hemels zulen daaruit vallen, en de krachten, die in de hemelen zijn, zullen bewogen worden. 26En alsdan zullen zij den Zoon des mensen zien, komende in de wolken, met grote kracht en heerlijkheid. 27En alsdan zal Hij Zijn engelen uitzenden, en zal Zijn uitverkorenen bijeenvergaderen uit de vier winden, van het uiterste der aarde, tot het uiterste des hemels. 28En leert van den vijgeboom deze gelijkenis; wanneer nu zijn tak teder wordt, en de bladeren uitspruiten, zo weet gij, dat de zomer nabij is. 29Alzo ook gij, wanneer gij deze dingen zult zien geschieden, zo weet, dat het nabij, voor de deur is. 30Voorwaar, Ik zeg u, dat dit geslacht niet zal voorbijgaan, totdat al deze dingen zullen geschied zijn. 31De hemel en de aarde zullen voorbijgaan; maar Mijn woorden zullen geenszins voorbijgaan. 32Maar van dien dag en die ure weet niemand, noch de engelen, die in de hemel zijn, noch de Zoon, dan de Vader. 33Ziet toe, waakt en bidt; want gij weet niet, wanneer de tijd is. 34Gelijk een mens, buitenslands reizende, zijn huis verliet, en zijn dienstknechten macht gaf, en elk zijn werk, en den deurwachter gebood, dat hij zou waken; 35Zo waakt dan (want gij weet niet, wanneer de heer des huizes komen zal, des avonds laat, of ter middernacht, of met het hanengekraai, of in den morgenstond); 36Opdat hij niet onvoorziens kome, en u slapende vinde. 37En hetgeen Ik u zeg, dat zeg Ik allen: Waakt.
