1Paul, apôtre de Jésus Christ par la volonté de Dieu, et le frère Timothée, 2aux saints et fidèles frères en Christ qui sont à Colosses ; que la grâce et la paix vous soient données de la part de Dieu notre Père ! 3Nous rendons grâces à Dieu, le Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, et nous ne cessons de prier pour vous, 4ayant été informés de votre foi en Jésus-Christ et de votre charité pour tous les saints, 5à cause de l’espérance qui vous est réservée dans les cieux, et que la parole de la vérité, la parole de l’Évangile vous a précédemment fait connaître. 6Il est au milieu de vous, et dans le monde entier ; il porte des fruits, et il va grandissant, comme c’est aussi le cas parmi vous, depuis le jour où vous avez entendu et connu la grâce de Dieu conformément à la vérité, 7d’après les instructions que vous avez reçues d’Épaphras, notre bien-aimé compagnon de service, qui est pour vous un fidèle ministre de Christ, 8et qui nous a appris de quelle charité l’Esprit vous anime. 9C’est pour cela que nous aussi, depuis le jour où nous en avons été informés, nous ne cessons de prier Dieu pour vous, et de demander que vous soyez remplis de la connaissance de sa volonté, en toute sagesse et intelligence spirituelle, 10pour marcher d’une manière digne du Seigneur et lui être entièrement agréables, portant des fruits en toutes sortes de bonnes œuvres et croissant par la connaissance de Dieu, 11fortifiés à tous égards par sa puissance glorieuse, en sorte que vous soyez toujours et avec joie persévérants et patients. 12Rendez grâces au Père, qui vous a rendus capables d’avoir part à l’héritage des saints dans la lumière, 13qui nous a délivrés de la puissance des ténèbres et nous a transportés dans le royaume du Fils de son amour, 14en qui nous avons la rédemption, la rémission des péchés. 15Il est l’image du Dieu invisible, le premier-né de toute la création. 16Car en lui ont été créées toutes les choses qui sont dans les cieux et sur la terre, les visibles et les invisibles, trônes, dignités, dominations, autorités. Tout a été créé par lui et pour lui. 17Il est avant toutes choses, et toutes choses subsistent en lui. 18Il est la tête du corps de l’Église ; il est le commencement, le premier-né d’entre les morts, afin d’être en tout le premier. 19Car Dieu a voulu que toute plénitude habitât en lui ; 20il a voulu par lui réconcilier tout avec lui-même, tant ce qui est sur la terre que ce qui est dans les cieux, en faisant la paix par lui, par le sang de sa croix. 21Et vous, qui étiez autrefois étrangers et ennemis par vos pensées et par vos mauvaises œuvres, il vous a maintenant réconciliés par sa mort dans le corps de sa chair, 22pour vous faire paraître devant lui saints, irrépréhensibles et sans reproche, 23si du moins vous demeurez fondés et inébranlables dans la foi, sans vous détourner de l’espérance de l’Évangile que vous avez entendu, qui a été prêché à toute créature sous le ciel, et dont moi Paul, j’ai été fait ministre. 24Je me réjouis maintenant dans mes souffrances pour vous ; et ce qui manque aux souffrances de Christ, je l’achève en ma chair, pour son corps, qui est l’Église. 25C’est d’elle que j’ai été fait ministre, selon la charge que Dieu m’a donnée auprès de vous, afin que j’annonçasse pleinement la parole de Dieu, 26le mystère caché de tout temps et dans tous les âges, mais révélé maintenant à ses saints, 27à qui Dieu a voulu faire connaître quelle est la glorieuse richesse de ce mystère parmi les païens, savoir : Christ en vous, l’espérance de la gloire. 28C’est lui que nous annonçons, exhortant tout homme, et instruisant tout homme en toute sagesse, afin de présenter à Dieu tout homme, devenu parfait en Christ . 29C’est à quoi je travaille, en combattant avec sa force, qui agit puissamment en moi.
1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, 2to the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which you have toward all the saints, 5because of the hope which is laid up for you in the heavens, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the Good News, 6which has come to you; even as it is in all the world and is bearing fruit and growing, as it does in you also, since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth; 7even as you learned of Epaphras our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful servant of Christ on our behalf, 8who also declared to us your love in the Spirit. 9For this cause, we also, since the day we heard this, don’t cease praying and making requests for you, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy; 12giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; 13who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love; 14in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins; 15who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16For by him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things are held together. 18He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19For all the fullness was pleased to dwell in him; 20and through him to reconcile all things to himself, by him, whether things on the earth, or things in the heavens, having made peace through the blood of his cross. 21You, being in past times alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil works, 22yet now he has reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without defect and blameless before him, 23if it is so that you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the Good News which you heard, which is being proclaimed in all creation under heaven; of which I, Paul, was made a servant. 24Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the assembly; 25of which I was made a servant, according to the stewardship of God which was given me toward you, to fulfill the word of God, 26the mystery which has been hidden for ages and generations. But now it has been revealed to his saints, 27to whom God was pleased to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory; 28whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus; 29for which I also labor, striving according to his working, which works in me mightily.
1Paulus, een apostel van Jezus Christus, door de wil van God, en Timotheus, de broeder, 2Den heiligen en gelovige broederen in Christus, die te Kolosse zijn: genade zij u en vrede van God, onzen Vader, en den Heere Jezus Christus. 3Wij danken den God en Vader van onzen Heere Jezus Christus, altijd voor u biddende; 4Alzo wij van uw geloof in Christus Jezus gehoord hebben, en van de liefde, die gij hebt tot alle heiligen. 5Om de hoop, die u weggelegd is in de hemelen, van welke gij te voren gehoord hebt, door het Woord der waarheid, namelijk des Evangelies; 6Hetwelk tot u gekomen is, gelijk ook in de gehele wereld, en het brengt vruchten voort, gelijk ook onder u, van dien dag af dat gij gehoord hebt, en de genade Gods in waarheid bekend hebt. 7Gelijk gij ook geleerd hebt van Epafras, onzen geliefden mededienstknecht, dewelke een getrouw dienaar van Christus is voor u; 8Die ons ook verklaard heeft uw liefde in den Geest. 9Waarom ook wij, van dien dag af dat wij het gehoord hebben, niet ophouden voor u te bidden en te begeren, dat gij moogt vervuld worden met de kennis van Zijn wil, in alle wijsheid en geestelijk verstand; 10Opdat gij moogt wandelen waardiglijk den Heere, tot alle behagelijkheid, in alle goede werken vrucht dragende, en wassende in de kennis van God; 11Met alle kracht bekrachtigd zijnde, naar de sterkte Zijner heerlijkheid, tot alle lijdzaamheid en lankmoedigheid, met blijdschap; 12Dankende den Vader, Die ons bekwaam gemaakt heeft, om deel te hebben in de erve der heiligen in het licht; 13Die ons getrokken heeft uit de macht der duisternis, en overgezet heeft in het Koninkrijk van den Zoon Zijner liefde; 14In Denwelke wij de verlossing hebben door Zijn bloed, namelijk de vergeving der zonden; 15Dewelke het Beeld is des onzienlijken Gods, de Eerstgeborene aller kreaturen. 16Want door Hem zijn alle dingen geschapen, die in de hemelen en die op de aarde zijn, die zienlijk en die onzienlijk zijn, hetzij tronen, hetzij heerschappijen, hetzij overheden, hetzij machten; alle dingen zijn door Hem en tot Hem geschapen; 17En Hij is voor alle dingen, en alle dingen bestaan te zamen door Hem; 18En Hij is het Hoofd des lichaams, namelijk der Gemeente, Hij, Die het Begin is, de Eerstgeborene uit de doden, opdat Hij in allen de Eerste zou zijn. 19Want het is des Vaders welbehagen geweest, dat in Hem al de volheid wonen zou; 20En dat Hij, door Hem vrede gemaakt hebbende door het bloed Zijns kruises, door Hem, zeg ik, alle dingen verzoenen zou tot Zichzelven, hetzij de dingen, die op de aarde, hetzij de dingen die in de hemelen zijn. 21En Hij heeft u, die eertijds vervreemd waart, en vijanden door het verstand in de boze werken, nu ook verzoend, 22In het lichaam Zijns vleses, door den dood, opdat Hij u zou heilig en onberispelijk en onbeschuldiglijk voor Zich stellen; 23Indien gij maar blijft in het geloof, gefondeerd en vast, en niet bewogen wordt van de hope des Evangelies, dat gij gehoord hebt, hetwelk gepredikt is onder al de kreature, die onder den hemel is; van hetwelk ik Paulus een dienaar geworden ben; 24Die mij nu verblijd in mijn lijden voor u, en vervulle in mijn vlees de overblijfselen van de verdrukkingen van Christus, voor Zijn lichaam, hetwelk is de Gemeente; 25Welker dienaar ik geworden ben, naar de bedeling van God, die mij gegeven is aan u, om te vervullen het Woord Gods; 26Namelijk de verborgenheid, die verborgen is geweest van alle eeuwen en van alle geslachten, maar nu geopenbaard is aan Zijn heiligen; 27Aan wie God heeft willen bekend maken, welke zij de rijkdom der heerlijkheid dezer verborgenheid onder de heidenen, welke is Christus onder u, de Hoop der heerlijkheid; 28Denwelken wij verkondigen, vermanende een iegelijk mens, en lerende een iegelijk mens in alle wijsheid, opdat wij zouden een iegelijk mens volmaakt stellen in Christus Jezus; 29Waartoe ik ook arbeide, strijdende naar Zijn werking, die in mij werkt met kracht.
