1Lorsque les hommes eurent commencé à se multiplier sur la face de la terre, et que des filles leur furent nées, 2les fils de Dieu virent que les filles des hommes étaient belles, et ils en prirent pour femmes parmi toutes celles qu’ils choisirent. 3Alors l’Éternel dit : Mon esprit ne restera pas à toujours dans l’homme, car l’homme n’est que chair, et ses jours seront de cent vingt ans. 4Les géants étaient sur la terre en ces temps-là, après que les fils de Dieu furent venus vers les filles des hommes, et qu’elles leur eurent donné des enfants : ce sont ces héros qui furent fameux dans l’antiquité. 5L’Éternel vit que la méchanceté des hommes était grande sur la terre, et que toutes les pensées de leur cœur se portaient chaque jour uniquement vers le mal. 6L’Éternel se repentit d’avoir fait l’homme sur la terre, et il fut affligé en son cœur. 7Et l’Éternel dit : J’exterminerai de la face de la terre l’homme que j’ai créé, depuis l’homme jusqu’au bétail, aux reptiles, et aux oiseaux du ciel ; car je me repens de les avoir faits. 8Mais Noé trouva grâce aux yeux de l’Éternel. 9Voici la postérité de Noé. Noé était un homme juste et intègre dans son temps ; Noé marchait avec Dieu. 10Noé engendra trois fils : Sem, Cham et Japhet. 11La terre était corrompue devant Dieu, la terre était pleine de violence. 12Dieu regarda la terre, et voici, elle était corrompue ; car toute chair avait corrompu sa voie sur la terre. 13Alors Dieu dit à Noé : La fin de toute chair est arrêtée par devers moi ; car ils ont rempli la terre de violence ; voici, je vais les détruire avec la terre. 14Fais-toi une arche de bois de gopher ; tu disposeras cette arche en cellules, et tu l’enduiras de poix en dedans et en dehors. 15Voici comment tu la feras : l’arche aura trois cents coudées de longueur, cinquante coudées de largeur et trente coudées de hauteur. 16Tu feras à l’arche une fenêtre, que tu réduiras à une coudée en haut ; tu établiras une porte sur le côté de l’arche ; et tu construiras un étage inférieur, un second et un troisième. 17Et moi, je vais faire venir le déluge d’eaux sur la terre, pour détruire toute chair ayant souffle de vie sous le ciel ; tout ce qui est sur la terre périra. 18Mais j’établis mon alliance avec toi ; tu entreras dans l’arche, toi et tes fils, ta femme et les femmes de tes fils avec toi. 19De tout ce qui vit, de toute chair, tu feras entrer dans l’arche deux de chaque espèce, pour les conserver en vie avec toi : il y aura un mâle et une femelle. 20Des oiseaux selon leur espèce, du bétail selon son espèce, et de tous les reptiles de la terre selon leur espèce, deux de chaque espèce viendront vers toi, pour que tu leur conserves la vie. 21Et toi, prends de tous les aliments que l’on mange, et fais-en une provision auprès de toi, afin qu’ils te servent de nourriture ainsi qu’à eux. 22C’est ce que fit Noé : il exécuta tout ce que Dieu lui avait ordonné.
1When men began to multiply on the surface of the ground, and daughters were born to them, 2God’s sons saw that men’s daughters were beautiful, and they took any that they wanted for themselves as wives. 3Yahweh said, “My Spirit will not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; so his days will be one hundred twenty years.” 4The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when God’s sons came in to men’s daughters and had children with them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. 5Yahweh saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of man’s heart was continually only evil. 6Yahweh was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him in his heart. 7Yahweh said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the surface of the ground—man, along with animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky—for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8But Noah found favor in Yahweh’s eyes. 9This is the history of the generations of Noah: Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. Noah walked with God. 10Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11The earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12God saw the earth, and saw that it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 13God said to Noah, “I will bring an end to all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them and the earth. 14Make a ship of gopher wood. You shall make rooms in the ship, and shall seal it inside and outside with pitch. 15This is how you shall make it. The length of the ship shall be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. 16You shall make a roof in the ship, and you shall finish it to a cubit upward. You shall set the door of the ship in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third levels. 17I, even I, do bring the flood of waters on this earth, to destroy all flesh having the breath of life from under the sky. Everything that is in the earth will die. 18But I will establish my covenant with you. You shall come into the ship, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19Of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ship, to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female. 20Of the birds after their kind, of the livestock after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every sort will come to you, to keep them alive. 21Take with you of all food that is eaten, and gather it to yourself; and it will be for food for you, and for them.” 22Thus Noah did. He did all that God commanded him.
1En het geschiedde, als de mensen op den aardbodem begonnen te vermenigvuldigen, en hun dochters geboren werden, 2Dat Gods zonen de dochteren der mensen aanzagen, dat zij schoon waren, en zij namen zich vrouwen uit allen, die zij verkozen hadden. 3Toen zeide de HEERE: Mijn Geest zal niet in eeuwigheid twisten met den mens, dewijl hij ook vlees is; doch zijn dagen zullen zijn honderd en twintig jaren. 4In die dagen waren er reuzen op de aarde, en ook daarna, als Gods zonen tot de dochteren der mensen ingegaan waren, en zich kinderen gewonnen hadden; deze zijn de geweldigen, die van ouds geweest zijn, mannen van name. 5En de HEERE zag, dat de boosheid des mensen menigvuldig was op de aarde, en al het gedichtsel der gedachten zijns harten te allen dage alleenlijk boos was. 6Toen berouwde het de HEERE, dat Hij den mens op de aarde gemaakt had, en het smartte Hem aan Zijn hart. 7En de HEERE zeide: Ik zal den mens, die Ik geschapen heb, verdelgen van den aardbodem, van den mens tot het vee, tot het kruipend gedierte, en tot het gevogelte des hemels toe; want het berouwt Mij, dat Ik hen gemaakt heb. 8Maar Noach vond genade in de ogen des HEEREN. 9Dit zijn de geboorten van Noach. Noach was een rechtvaardig, oprecht man in zijn geslachten. Noach wandelde met God. 10En Noach gewon drie zonen: Sem, Cham en Jafeth. 11Maar de aarde was verdorven voor Gods aangezicht; en de aarde was vervuld met wrevel. 12Toen zag God de aarde, en ziet, zij was verdorven; want al het vlees had zijn weg verdorven op de aarde. 13Daarom zeide God tot Noach: Het einde van alle vlees is voor Mijn aangezicht gekomen; want de aarde is door hen vervuld met wrevel; en zie, Ik zal hen met de aarde verderven. 14Maak u een ark van goferhout; met kameren zult gij deze ark maken; en gij zult die bepekken van binnen en van buiten met pek. 15En aldus is het, dat gij haar maken zult: driehonderd ellen zij de lengte der ark, vijftig ellen haar breedte, en dertig ellen haar hoogte. 16Gij zult een venster aan de ark maken, en zult haar volmaken tot een elle van boven; en de deur der ark zult gij in haar zijde zetten; gij zult ze met onderste, tweede en derde verdiepingen maken. 17Want Ik, zie, Ik breng een watervloed over de aarde, om alle vlees, waarin een geest des levens is, van onder den hemel te verderven; al wat op de aarde is, zal den geest geven. 18Maar met u zal Ik Mijn verbond oprichten; en gij zult in de ark gaan, gij, en uw zonen, en uw huisvrouw, en de vrouwen uwer zonen met u. 19En gij zult van al wat leeft, van alle vlees, twee van elk, doen in de ark komen, om met u in het leven te behouden: mannetje en wijfje zullen zij zijn; 20Van het gevogelte naar zijn aard, en van het vee naar zijn aard, van al het kruipend gedierte des aardbodems naar zijn aard, twee van elk zullen tot u komen, om die in het leven te behouden. 21En gij, neem voor u van alle spijze, die gegeten wordt, en verzamel ze tot u, opdat zij u en hun tot spijze zij. 22En Noach deed het; naar al wat God hem geboden had, zo deed hij.
