Éphésiens 6

1Enfants, obéissez à vos parents, selon le Seigneur, car cela est juste. 2Honore ton père et ta mère (c’est le premier commandement avec une promesse), 3afin que tu sois heureux et que tu vives longtemps sur la terre. 4Et vous, pères, n’irritez pas vos enfants, mais élevez-les en les corrigeant et en les instruisant selon le Seigneur. 5Serviteurs, obéissez à vos maîtres selon la chair, avec crainte et tremblement, dans la simplicité de votre cœur, comme à Christ, 6non pas seulement sous leurs yeux, comme pour plaire aux hommes, mais comme des serviteurs de Christ, qui font de bon cœur la volonté de Dieu. 7Servez-les avec empressement, comme servant le Seigneur et non des hommes, 8sachant que chacun, soit esclave, soit libre, recevra du Seigneur selon ce qu’il aura fait de bien. 9Et vous, maîtres, agissez de même à leur égard, et abstenez-vous de menaces, sachant que leur maître et le vôtre est dans les cieux, et que devant lui il n’y a point d’acception de personnes. 10Au reste, fortifiez-vous dans le Seigneur, et par sa force toute-puissante. 11Revêtez-vous de toutes les armes de Dieu, afin de pouvoir tenir ferme contre les ruses du diable. 12Car nous n’avons pas à lutter contre la chair et le sang, mais contre les dominations, contre les autorités, contre les princes de ce monde de ténèbres, contre les esprits méchants dans les lieux célestes. 13C’est pourquoi, prenez toutes les armes de Dieu, afin de pouvoir résister dans le mauvais jour, et tenir ferme après avoir tout surmonté. 14Tenez donc ferme : ayez à vos reins la vérité pour ceinture ; revêtez la cuirasse de la justice ; 15mettez pour chaussure à vos pieds le zèle que donne l’Évangile de paix ; 16prenez par-dessus tout cela le bouclier de la foi, avec lequel vous pourrez éteindre tous les traits enflammés du malin ; 17prenez aussi le casque du salut, et l’épée de l’Esprit, qui est la parole de Dieu. 18Faites en tout temps par l’Esprit toutes sortes de prières et de supplications. Veillez à cela avec une entière persévérance, et priez pour tous les saints. 19Priez pour moi, afin qu’il me soit donné, quand j’ouvre la bouche, de faire connaître hardiment et librement le mystère de l’Évangile, 20pour lequel je suis ambassadeur dans les chaînes, et que j’en parle avec assurance comme je dois en parler. 21Afin que vous aussi, vous sachiez ce qui me concerne, ce que je fais, Tychique, le bien-aimé frère et fidèle ministre dans le Seigneur, vous informera de tout. 22Je l’envoie exprès vers vous, pour que vous connaissiez notre situation, et pour qu’il console vos cœurs. 23Que la paix et la charité avec la foi soient données aux frères de la part de Dieu le Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ ! 24Que la grâce soit avec tous ceux qui aiment notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ d’un amour inaltérable !

1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise: 3“that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.” 4You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. 5Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ; 6not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men; 8knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free. 9You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him. 10Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace; 16above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints: 19on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 21But that you also may know my affairs, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things; 22whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts. 23Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Amen.

1Gij kinderen, zijt uw ouderen gehoorzaam in den Heere; want dat is recht. 2Eert uw vader en moeder (hetwelk het eerste gebod is met een belofte), 3Opdat het u welga, en dat gij lang leeft op de aarde. 4En gij vaders, verwekt uw kinderen niet tot toorn, maar voedt hen op in de lering en vermaning des Heeren. 5Gij dienstknechten, zijt gehoorzaam uw heren naar het vlees, met vreze en beven, in eenvoudigheid uws harten, gelijk als aan Christus; 6Niet naar ogendienst, als mensenbehagers, maar als dienstknechten van Christus, doende den wil van God van harte; 7Dienende met goedwilligheid den Heere, en niet de mensen; 8Wetende, dat zo wat goed een iegelijk gedaan zal hebben, hij datzelve van den Heere zal ontvangen, hetzij dienstknecht, hetzij vrije. 9En gij heren, doet hetzelfde bij hen, nalatende de dreiging; als die weet, dat ook uw eigen Heere in de hemelen is, en dat geen aanneming des persoons bij Hem is. 10Voorts, mijn broeders, wordt krachtig in den Heere, en in de sterkte Zijner macht. 11Doet aan de gehele wapenrusting Gods, opdat gij kunt staan tegen de listige omleidingen des duivels. 12Want wij hebben den strijd niet tegen vlees en bloed, maar tegen de overheden, tegen de machten, tegen de geweldhebbers der wereld, der duisternis dezer eeuw, tegen de geestelijke boosheden in de lucht. 13Daarom neemt aan de gehele wapenrusting Gods, opdat gij kunt wederstaan in den bozen dag, en alles verricht hebbende, staande blijven. 14Staat dan, uw lenden omgord hebbende met de waarheid, en aangedaan hebbende het borstwapen der gerechtigheid; 15En de voeten geschoeid hebbende met bereidheid van het Evangelie des vredes; 16Bovenal aangenomen hebbende het schild des geloofs, met hetwelk gij al de vurige pijlen des bozen zult kunnen uitblussen. 17En neemt den helm der zaligheid, en het zwaard des Geestes, hetwelk is Gods Woord. 18Met alle bidding en smeking, biddende te allen tijd in den Geest, en tot hetzelve wakende met alle gedurigheid en smeking voor al de heiligen; 19En voor mij, opdat mij het Woord gegeven worde in de opening mijns monds met vrijmoedigheid, om de verborgenheid van het Evangelie bekend te maken; 20Waarover ik een gezant ben in een keten, opdat ik in hetzelve vrijmoediglijk moge spreken, gelijk mij betaamt te spreken. 21En opdat ook gij moogt weten hetgeen mij aangaat; en wat ik doe, dat alles zal u Tychikus, de geliefde broeder en getrouwe dienaar in den Heere, bekend maken; 22Denwelken ik tot datzelfde einde tot u gezonden heb, opdat gij onze zaken zoudt weten, en hij uw harten zou vertroosten. 23Vrede zij den broederen, en liefde met geloof, van God den Vader, en den Heere Jezus Christus. 24De genade zij met al degenen, die onzen Heere Jezus Christus liefhebben in onverderfelijkheid. Amen.
