1Pour moi, frères, ce n’est pas comme à des hommes spirituels que j’ai pu vous parler, mais comme à des hommes charnels, comme à des enfants en Christ. 2Je vous ai donné du lait, non de la nourriture solide, car vous ne pouviez pas la supporter ; et vous ne le pouvez pas même à présent, parce que vous êtes encore charnels. 3En effet, puisqu’il y a parmi vous de la jalousie et des disputes, n’êtes-vous pas charnels, et ne marchez-vous pas selon l’homme ? 4Quand l’un dit : Moi, je suis de Paul ! et un autre : Moi, d’Apollos ! n’êtes-vous pas des hommes ? 5Qu’est-ce donc qu’Apollos, et qu’est-ce que Paul ? Des serviteurs, par le moyen desquels vous avez cru, selon que le Seigneur l’a donné à chacun. 6J’ai planté, Apollos a arrosé, mais Dieu a fait croître, 7en sorte que ce n’est pas celui qui plante qui est quelque chose, ni celui qui arrose, mais Dieu qui fait croître. 8Celui qui plante et celui qui arrose sont égaux, et chacun recevra sa propre récompense selon son propre travail. 9Car nous sommes ouvriers avec Dieu. Vous êtes le champ de Dieu, l’édifice de Dieu. 10Selon la grâce de Dieu qui m’a été donnée, j’ai posé le fondement comme un sage architecte, et un autre bâtit dessus. Mais que chacun prenne garde à la manière dont il bâtit dessus. 11Car personne ne peut poser un autre fondement que celui qui a été posé, savoir Jésus-Christ. 12Or, si quelqu’un bâtit sur ce fondement avec de l’or, de l’argent, des pierres précieuses, du bois, du foin, du chaume, l’œuvre de chacun sera manifestée ; 13car le jour la fera connaître, parce qu’elle se révèlera dans le feu, et le feu éprouvera ce qu’est l’œuvre de chacun. 14Si l’œuvre bâtie par quelqu’un sur le fondement subsiste, il recevra une récompense. 15Si l’œuvre de quelqu’un est consumée, il perdra sa récompense ; pour lui, il sera sauvé, mais comme au travers du feu. 16Ne savez-vous pas que vous êtes le temple de Dieu, et que l’Esprit de Dieu habite en vous ? 17Si quelqu’un détruit le temple de Dieu, Dieu le détruira ; car le temple de Dieu est saint, et c’est ce que vous êtes. 18Que nul ne s’abuse lui-même : si quelqu’un parmi vous pense être sage selon ce siècle, qu’il devienne fou, afin de devenir sage. 19Car la sagesse de ce monde est une folie devant Dieu. Aussi est-il écrit : Il prend les sages dans leur ruse. 20Et encore : Le Seigneur connaît les pensées des sages, Il sait qu’elles sont vaines. 21Que personne donc ne mette sa gloire dans des hommes ; car tout est à vous, 22soit Paul, soit Apollos, soit Céphas, soit le monde, soit la vie, soit la mort, soit les choses présentes, soit les choses à venir. 23Tout est à vous ; et vous êtes à Christ, et Christ est à Dieu.
1Brothers, I couldn’t speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly, as to babies in Christ. 2I fed you with milk, not with meat; for you weren’t yet ready. Indeed, not even now are you ready, 3for you are still fleshly. For insofar as there is jealousy, strife, and factions among you, aren’t you fleshly, and don’t you walk in the ways of men? 4For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you fleshly? 5Who then is Apollos, and who is Paul, but servants through whom you believed; and each as the Lord gave to him? 6I planted. Apollos watered. But God gave the increase. 7So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8Now he who plants and he who waters are the same, but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s farming, God’s building. 10According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another builds on it. But let each man be careful how he builds on it. 11For no one can lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12But if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or stubble; 13each man’s work will be revealed. For the Day will declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will test what sort of work each man’s work is. 14If any man’s work remains which he built on it, he will receive a reward. 15If any man’s work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but as through fire. 16Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you? 17If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are. 18Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool, that he may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He has taken the wise in their craftiness.” 20And again, “The Lord knows the reasoning of the wise, that it is worthless.” 21Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, 22whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours, 23and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.

Maar een iegelijk zie toe, hoe hij daarop bouwe. 11Want niemand kan een ander fondament leggen, dan hetgeen gelegd is, hetwelk is Jezus Christus. 12En indien iemand op dit fondament bouwt: goud, zilver, kostelijke stenen, hout, hooi, stoppelen; 13Eens iegelijks werk zal openbaar worden; want de dag zal het verklaren, dewijl het door vuur ontdekt wordt; en hoedanig eens iegelijks werk is, zal het vuur beproeven. 14Zo iemands werk blijft, dat hij daarop gebouwd heeft, die zal loon ontvangen. 15Zo iemands werk zal verbrand worden, die zal schade lijden; maar zelf zal hij behouden worden, doch alzo als door vuur. 16Weet gij niet, dat gij Gods tempel zijt, en de Geest Gods in ulieden woont? 17Zo iemand den tempel Gods schendt, dien zal God schenden; want de tempel Gods is heilig, welke gij zijt. 18Niemand bedriege zichzelven. Zo iemand onder u dunkt, dat hij wijs is in deze wereld, die worde dwaas, opdat hij wijs moge worden. 19Want de wijsheid dezer wereld is dwaasheid bij God; want er is geschreven: Hij vat de wijzen in hun arglistigheid; 20En wederom: De Heere kent de overleggingen der wijzen, dat zij ijdel zijn. 21Niemand dan roeme op mensen; want alles is uwe. 22Hetzij Paulus, hetzij Apollos, hetzij Cefas, hetzij de wereld, hetzij leven, hetzij dood, hetzij tegenwoordige, hetzij toekomende dingen, zij zijn alle uwe. 23Doch gij zijt van Christus, en Christus is Gods.
