1SUBIÓ destruidor contra ti: guarda la fortaleza, mira el camino, fortifica los lomos, fortalece mucho la fuerza. 2Porque Jehová restituirá la gloria de Jacob como la gloria de Israel; porque vaciadores los vaciaron, y estropearon sus mugrones. 3El escudo de sus valientes será bermejo, los varones de su ejército vestidos de grana: el carro como fuego de hachas; el día que se aparejará, temblarán las hayas. 4Los carros se precipitarán á las plazas, discurrirán por las calles: su aspecto como hachas encendidas; correrán como relámpagos. 5Acordaráse él de sus valientes; andando tropezarán; se apresurarán á su muro, y la cubierta se aparejará. 6Las puertas de los ríos se abrirán, y el palacio será destruído. 7Y la reina fué cautiva; mandarle han que suba, y sus criadas la llevarán gimiendo como palomas, batiendo sus pechos. 8Y fué Nínive de tiempo antiguo como estanque de aguas; mas ellos huyen: Parad, parad; y ninguno mira. 9Saquead plata, saquead oro: no hay fin de las riquezas y suntuosidad de todo ajuar de codicia. 10Vacía, y agotada, y despedazada está, y el corazón derretido: batimiento de rodillas, y dolor en todos riñones, y los rostros de todos tomarán negrura. 11¿Qué es de la morada de los leones, y de la majada de los cachorros de los leones, donde se recogía el león, y la leona, y los cachorros del león, y no había quien les pusiese miedo? 12El león arrebataba en abundancia para sus cachorros, y ahogaba para sus leonas, y henchía de presa sus cavernas, y de robo sus moradas. 13Heme aquí contra ti, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Encenderé y reduciré á humo tus carros, y espada devorará tus leoncillos; y raeré de la tierra tu robo, y nunca más se oirá voz de tus embajadores.
1He who dashes in pieces has come up against you. Keep the fortress! Watch the way! Strengthen your waist! Fortify your power mightily! 2For Yahweh restores the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel; for the destroyers have destroyed them, and ruined their vine branches. 3The shield of his mighty men is made red. The valiant men are in scarlet. The chariots flash with steel in the day of his preparation, and the pine spears are brandished. 4The chariots rage in the streets. They rush back and forth in the broad ways. Their appearance is like torches. They run like the lightnings. 5He summons his picked troops. They stumble on their way. They dash to its wall, and the protective shield is put in place. 6The gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace is dissolved. 7It is decreed: she is uncovered, she is carried away; and her handmaids moan as with the voice of doves, beating on their breasts. 8But Nineveh has been from of old like a pool of water, yet they flee away. “Stop! Stop!” they cry, but no one looks back. 9Take the plunder of silver. Take the plunder of gold, for there is no end of the store, the glory of all goodly furniture. 10She is empty, void, and waste. The heart melts, the knees knock together, their bodies and faces have grown pale. 11Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, the lion’s cubs, and no one made them afraid? 12The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his caves with the kill, and his dens with prey. 13“Behold, I am against you,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions; and I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
1De verstrooier trekt tegen uw aangezicht op, bewaar de vesting; bezichtig den weg; sterk de lenden, versterk de kracht zeer. 2Want de HEERE heeft de hovaardij Jakobs afgewend, gelijk de hovaardij Israels; want de ledigmakers hebben ze ledig gemaakt, en zij hebben hun wijnranken verdorven. 3De schilden zijner helden zijn rood gemaakt, de kloeke mannen zijn scharlakenvervig; de wagens zijn in het vuur der fakkelen, ten dage als hij zich bereidt; en de spiesen worden geschud. 4De wagens razen door de wijken, zij lopen ginds en weder op de straten; hun gedaanten zijn als der fakkelen, zij lopen door elkander henen als de bliksemen. 5Hij zal aan zijn voortreffelijken gedenken, doch zij zullen struikelen in hun tochten; zij zullen haasten naar hun muur, als het beschutsel vaardig zal wezen. 6De poorten der rivieren zullen geopend worden, en het paleis zal versmelten. 7En Huzab zal gevankelijk weggevoerd worden, men zal haar heten voortgaan; en haar maagden zullen haar geleiden, als met een stem der duiven, trommelende op haar harten. 8Nineve is wel als een watervijver, van de dagen af dat zij geweest is, doch zij zullen vluchten. Staat, staat! zal men roepen, maar niemand zal omzien. 9Rooft zilver, rooft goud, want er is geen einde des voorraads, der heerlijkheid van allerlei gewenste vaten. 10Zij is geledigd, ja, uitgeledigd, uitgeput, en haar hart versmelt, en de knieen schudden, en in al de lenden is smart, en hun aller aangezichten betrekken, als een pot. 11Waar is nu de woning der leeuwen, en die weide der jonge leeuwen? Alwaar de leeuw, de oude leeuw, en het leeuwenwelp wandelde, en er was niemand, die hen verschrikte. 12De leeuw, die genoeg roofde voor zijn welpen, en worgde voor zijn oude leeuwinnen, die zijn holen vervulde met roof, en zijn woningen met het geroofde. 13Ziet, Ik wil aan u, spreekt de HEERE der heirscharen, en Ik zal haar wagenen in rook verbranden, en het zwaard zal uw jonge leeuwen verteren, en Ik zal uw roof uitroeien van de aarde, en de stem uwer gezanten zal niet meer gehoord worden.
