Amós 8

1ASÍ me ha mostrado Jehová: y he aquí un canastillo de fruta de verano. 2Y dijo: ¿Qué ves, Amós? Y dije: Un canastillo de fruta de verano. Y díjome Jehová: Venido ha el fin sobre mi pueblo Israel; no le pasaré más. 3Y los cantores del templo aullarán en aquel día, dice el Señor Jehová; muchos serán los cuerpos muertos; en todo lugar echados serán en silencio. 4Oid esto, los que tragáis á los menesterosos, y arruináis los pobres de la tierra, 5Diciendo: ¿Cuándo pasará el mes, y venderemos el trigo; y la semana, y abriremos los alfolíes del pan, y achicaremos la medida, y engrandeceremos el precio, y falsearemos el peso engañoso; 6Para comprar los pobres por dinero, y los necesitados por un par de zapatos, y venderemos las aechaduras del trigo? 7Jehová juró por la gloria de Jacob: No me olvidaré para siempre de todas sus obras. 8¿No se ha de estremecer la tierra sobre esto? ¿y todo habitador de ella no llorará? y subirá toda como un río, y será arrojada, y hundiráse como el río de Egipto. 9Y acaecerá en aquel día, dice el Señor Jehová, que haré se ponga el sol al mediodía, y la tierra cubriré de tinieblas en el día claro. 10Y tornaré vuestras fiestas en lloro, y todos vuestros cantares en endechas; y haré poner saco sobre todos lomos, y peladura sobre toda cabeza; y tornaréla como en llanto de unigénito, y su postrimería como día amargo. 11He aquí vienen días, dice el Señor Jehová, en los cuales enviaré hambre á la tierra, no hambre de pan, ni sed de agua, sino de oir palabra de Jehová. 12E irán errantes de mar á mar: desde el norte hasta el oriente discurrirán buscando palabra de Jehová, y no la hallarán. 13En aquel tiempo las doncellas hermosas y los mancebos desmayarán de sed. 14Los que juran por el pecado de Samaria, y dicen, Vive tu Dios de Dan: y, Vive el camino de Beer-seba: caerán, y nunca más se levantarán.

1Thus the Lord Yahweh showed me: behold, a basket of summer fruit. 2He said, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then Yahweh said to me, “The end has come on my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more. 3The songs of the temple will be wailings in that day,” says the Lord Yahweh. “The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence. 4Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail, 5Saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit; 6that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?’” 7Yahweh has sworn by the pride of Jacob, “Surely I will never forget any of their works. 8Won’t the land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it will rise up wholly like the River; and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the River of Egypt. 9It will happen in that day,” says the Lord Yahweh, “that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day. 10I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day. 11Behold, the days come,” says the Lord Yahweh, “that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing Yahweh’s words. 12They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek Yahweh’s word, and will not find it. 13In that day the beautiful virgins and the young men will faint for thirst. 14Those who swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, ‘As your god, Dan, lives;’ and, ‘As the way of Beersheba lives;’ they will fall, and never rise up again.”

1De Heere HEERE deed mij aldus zien; en ziet, een korf met zomervruchten. 2En Hij zeide: Wat ziet gij Amos? En ik zeide: Een korf met zomervruchten. Toen zeide de HEERE tot mij: Het einde is gekomen over Mijn volk Israel; Ik zal het voortaan niet meer voorbijgaan. 3Maar de gezangen des tempels zullen te dien dage huilen, spreekt de Heere HEERE; vele dode lichamen zullen er zijn, in alle plaatsen zal men ze stilzwijgend wegwerpen. 4Hoort dit, gij, die den nooddruftige opslokt! en dat om te vernielen de ellendigen des lands; 5Zeggende: Wanneer zal de nieuwe maan overgaan, dat wij leeftocht mogen verkopen? en de sabbat, dat wij koren mogen openen? verkleinende de efa, en den sikkel vergrotende, en verkeerdelijk handelende met bedrieglijke weegschalen; 6Dat wij de armen voor geld mogen kopen, en den nooddruftige om een paar schoenen; dan zullen wij het kaf van het koren verkopen. 7De HEERE heeft gezworen bij Jakobs heerlijkheid: Zo Ik al hun werken in eeuwigheid zal vergeten! 8Zou het land hierover niet beroerd worden, en al wie daarin woont treuren? Ja, het zal geheel oprijzen als een rivier, en het zal heen en weder gedreven en verdronken worden, als door de rivier van Egypte. 9En het zal te dien dage geschieden, spreekt de Heere HEERE, dat Ik de zon op den middag zal doen ondergaan, en het land bij lichten dage verduisteren. 10En Ik zal uw feesten in rouw, en al uw liederen in weeklage veranderen, en op alle lenden een zak, en op alle hoofd kaalheid brengen; en Ik zal het land stellen in rouw, als er is over een enigen zoon, en deszelfs einde als een bitteren dag. 11Ziet, de dagen komen, spreekt de Heere HEERE, dat Ik een honger in het land zal zenden; niet een honger naar brood, noch dorst naar water, maar om te horen de woorden des HEEREN. 12En zij zullen zwerven van zee tot zee, en van het noorden tot het oosten; zij zullen omlopen om het woord des HEEREN te zoeken, maar zullen het niet vinden. 13Te dien dage zullen de schone jonkvrouwen en de jongelingen van dorst versmachten; 14Die daar zweren bij de schuld van Samaria, en zeggen: Zo waarachtig als uw God van Dan leeft, en de weg van Ber-seba leeft! en zij zullen vallen, en niet weder opstaan.
