1Y VINIERON todas las tribus de Israel á David en Hebrón, y hablaron, diciendo: He aquí nosotros somos tus huesos y tu carne. 2Y aun ayer y antes, cuando Saúl reinaba sobre nosotros, tú sacabas y volvías á Israel. Además Jehová te ha dicho: Tú apacentarás á mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás sobre Israel príncipe. 3Vinieron pues todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y el rey David hizo con ellos alianza en Hebrón delante de Jehová; y ungieron á David por rey sobre Israel. 4Era David de treinta años cuando comenzó á reinar, y reinó cuarenta años. 5En Hebrón reinó sobre Judá siete años y seis meses: y en Jerusalem reinó treinta y tres años sobre todo Israel y Judá. 6Entonces el rey y los suyos fueron á Jerusalem al Jebuseo que habitaba en la tierra; el cual habló á David, diciendo: Tú no entrarás acá, si no echares los ciegos y los cojos; diciendo: No entrará acá David. 7Empero David tomó la fortaleza de Sión, la cual es la ciudad de David. 8Y dijo David aquel día: ¿Quién llegará hasta las canales, y herirá al Jebuseo, y á los cojos y ciegos, á los cuales el alma de David aborrece? Por esto se dijo: Ciego ni cojo no entrará en casa. 9Y David moró en la fortaleza, y púsole por nombre la Ciudad de David: y edificó alrededor, desde Millo para adentro. 10Y David iba creciendo y aumentándose, y Jehová Dios de los ejércitos era con él. 11E Hiram rey de Tiro envió también embajadores á David, y madera de cedro, y carpinteros, y canteros para los muros, los cuales edificaron la casa de David. 12Y entendió David que Jehová le había confirmado por rey sobre Israel, y que había ensalzado su reino por amor de su pueblo Israel. 13Y tomó David más concubinas y mujeres de Jerusalem después que vino de Hebrón, y naciéronle más hijos é hijas. 14Estos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalem: Sammua, y Sobab, y Nathán, y Salomón, 15E Ibhar, y Elisua, y Nepheg, 16Y Japhia, y Elisama, y Eliada, y Eliphelet. 17Y oyendo los Filisteos que habían ungido á David por rey sobre Israel, todos los Filisteos subieron á buscar á David: lo cual como David oyó, vino á la fortaleza. 18Y vinieron los Filisteos, y extendiéronse por el valle de Raphaim. 19Entonces consultó David á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Iré contra los Filisteos? ¿los entregarás en mis manos? Y Jehová respondió á David: Ve, porque ciertamente entregaré los Filisteos en tus manos. 20Y vino David á Baal-perasim, y allí los venció David, y dijo: Rompió Jehová mis enemigos delante de mí, como quien rompe aguas. Y por esto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perasim. 21Y dejaron allí sus ídolos, los cuales quemó David y los suyos. 22Y los Filisteos tornaron á venir, y extendiéronse en el valle de Raphaim. 23Y consultando David á Jehová, él le respondió: No subas; mas rodéalos, y vendrás á ellos por delante de los morales: 24Y cuando oyeres un estruendo que irá por las copas de los morales, entonces te moverás; porque Jehová saldrá delante de ti á herir el campo de los Filisteos. 25Y David lo hizo así, como Jehová se lo había mandado; é hirió á los Filisteos desde Gabaa hasta llegar á Gaza.
1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh. 2In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.’” 3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel. 4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. 5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah. 6The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “Unless you take away the blind and the lame, you shall not come in here”; thinking, “David can’t come in here.” 7Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David. 8David said on that day, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and strike the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame can’t come into the house.” 9David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. David built around from Millo and inward. 10David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh, the God of Armies, was with him. 11Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house. 12David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake. 13David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David. 14These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, 15and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia, 16and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet. 17When the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the stronghold. 18Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 19David inquired of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to David, “Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand.” 20David came to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and he said, “Yahweh has broken my enemies before me, like the breach of waters.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim. 21They left their images there; and David and his men took them away. 22The Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 23When David inquired of Yahweh, he said, “You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them over against the mulberry trees. 24It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall stir yourself up; for then Yahweh has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.” 25David did so, as Yahweh commanded him, and struck the Philistines from Geba until you come to Gezer.
1Toen kwamen alle stammen van Israel tot David te Hebron; en zij spraken, zeggende: Zie, wij, uw gebeente en uw vlees zijn wij. 2Daartoe ook te voren, toen Saul koning over ons was, waart gij Israel uitvoerende en inbrengende; ook heeft de HEERE tot u gezegd: Gij zult Mijn volk Israel weiden, en gij zult tot een voorganger zijn over Israel. 3Alzo kwamen alle oudsten van Israel tot den koning te Hebron; en de koning David maakte een verbond met hen te Hebron, voor het aangezicht des HEEREN; en zij zalfden David tot koning over Israel. 4Dertig jaar was David oud, als hij koning werd; veertig jaren heeft hij geregeerd. 5Te Hebron regeerde hij over Juda zeven jaren en zes maanden; en te Jeruzalem regeerde hij drie en dertig jaren over gans Israel en Juda. 6En de koning toog met zijn mannen naar Jeruzalem, tegen de Jebusieten, die in dat land woonden. En zij spraken tot David, zeggende: Gij zult hier niet inkomen, maar de blinden en kreupelen zullen u afdrijven; dat is te zeggen: David zal hier niet inkomen. 7Maar David nam den burg Sion in; dezelve is de stad Davids. 8Want David zeide ten zelven dage: Al wie de Jebusieten slaat, en geraakt aan die watergoot, en die kreupelen, en die blinden, die van Davids ziel gehaat zijn, die zal tot een hoofd en tot een overste zijn; daarom zegt men: Een blinde en kreupele zal in het huis niet komen. 9Alzo woonde David in den burg en noemde dien Davids stad. En David bouwde rondom van Millo af en binnenwaarts. 10David nu ging geduriglijk voort, en werd groot; want de HEERE, de God der heirscharen, was met hem. 11En Hiram, de koning van Tyrus, zond boden tot David, en cederenhout, en timmerlieden, en metselaars; en zij bouwden David een huis. 12En David merkte, dat de HEERE hem tot een koning over Israel bevestigd had, en dat Hij zijn koninkrijk verheven had, om Zijns volks Israels wil. 13En David nam meer bijwijven, en vrouwen van Jeruzalem, nadat hij van Hebron gekomen was; en David werden meer zonen en dochteren geboren. 14En dit zijn de namen dergenen, die hem te Jeruzalem geboren zijn: Schammua, en Schobab, en Nathan, en Salomo. 15En Ibchar, en Elischua en Nefeg, en Jafia, 16En Elischama, en Eljade, en Elifeleth. 17Als nu de Filistijnen hoorden, dat zij David ten koning over Israel gezalfd hadden, zo togen alle Filistijnen op om David te zoeken; en David, dat horende, toog af, naar den burg. 18En de Filistijnen kwamen en verspreidden zich in het dal Refaim. 19Zo vraagde David den HEERE, zeggende: Zal ik optrekken tegen de Filistijnen? Zult Gij ze in mijn hand geven? En de HEERE zeide tot David: Trek op, want Ik zal de Filistijnen zekerlijk in uw hand geven. 20Toen kwam David te Baal-Perazim; en David sloeg hen aldaar, en zeide: De HEERE heeft mijn vijanden voor mijn aangezicht gescheurd, als een scheur der wateren; daarom noemde hij den naam derzelve plaats, Baal-Perazim. 21En zij lieten hun afgoden aldaar; en David en zijn mannen namen ze op. 22Daarna togen de Filistijnen weder op; en zij verspreidden zich in het dal Refaim. 23En David vraagde den HEERE, Dewelke zeide: Gij zult niet optrekken; maar trek om tot achter hen, dat gij aan hen komt van tegenover de moerbezienbomen; 24En het geschiede, als gij hoort het geruis van een gang in de toppen der moerbezienbomen, dan rep u; want alsdan is de HEERE voor uw aangezicht uitgegaan, om het heirleger der Filistijnen te slaan. 25En David deed alzo, gelijk als de HEERE hem geboden had; en hij sloeg de Filistijnen van Geba af, totdat gij komt te Gezer.
