1Kiam la Eternulo venigos vin en la landon, al kiu vi iras, por ekposedi ĝin, kaj Li forpelos antaŭ vi grandnombrajn popolojn, la Ĥetidojn kaj la Girgaŝidojn kaj la Amoridojn kaj la Kanaanidojn kaj la Perizidojn kaj la Ĥividojn kaj la Jebusidojn, sep popolojn pli grandnombrajn kaj pli fortajn ol vi; 2kaj kiam la Eternulo, via Dio, transdonos ilin al vi, kaj vi venkobatos ilin; tiam anatemu ilin, ne faru kun ili interligon kaj ne indulgu ilin. 3Kaj ne boparenciĝu kun ili: vian filinon ne donu al ilia filo, kaj ilian filinon ne prenu por via filo; 4ĉar ili forturnos viajn filojn de Mi, ke ili servu al aliaj dioj, kaj ekflamos kontraŭ vi la kolero de la Eternulo, kaj Li ekstermos vin rapide. 5Sed tiele agu kun ili: iliajn altarojn detruu kaj iliajn statuojn rompu kaj iliajn sanktajn stangojn dishaku kaj iliajn idolojn forbruligu per fajro. 6Ĉar popolo sankta vi estas al la Eternulo, via Dio; vin elektis la Eternulo, via Dio, ke vi estu Lia popolo propra el ĉiuj popoloj, kiuj estas sur la tero. 7Ne pro tio, ke vi estas la plej grandnombra el ĉiuj popoloj, la Eternulo ekdeziris vin kaj elektis vin, ĉar vi estas ja malpli grandnombra ol ĉiuj popoloj; 8sed pro la amo de la Eternulo al vi, kaj por ke Li plenumu la ĵuron, kiun Li ĵuris al viaj patroj, la Eternulo elkondukis vin per forta mano kaj liberigis vin el la domo de sklaveco, el la mano de Faraono, reĝo de Egiptujo. 9Sciu do, ke la Eternulo, via Dio, nur Li estas Dio, Dio fidinda, kiu konservas la interligon kaj favorkorecon rilate al Liaj amantoj kaj al la plenumantoj de Liaj ordonoj dum mil generacioj, 10kaj kiu repagas al Siaj malamantoj persone, pereigante ilin, ne prokrastas al Sia malamanto, al li persone Li repagas. 11Observu do la ordonojn kaj la leĝojn kaj la regulojn, kiujn mi ordonas al vi hodiaŭ, por plenumi ilin. 12Kaj pro tio, ke vi aŭskultos tiujn regulojn kaj observos ilin kaj plenumos ilin, la Eternulo, via Dio, konservos al vi la interligon kaj la favorkorecon, pri kiuj Li ĵuris al viaj patroj; 13kaj Li amos vin kaj benos vin kaj multigos vin, kaj benos la frukton de via ventro kaj la frukton de via tero, vian grenon kaj vian moston kaj vian oleon, la frukton de viaj bovinoj kaj la frukton de viaj ŝafinoj, sur la tero, pri kiu Li ĵuris al viaj patroj, ke Li donos ĝin al vi. 14Vi estos benita pli ol ĉiuj popoloj; ne estos inter vi senfruktulo aŭ senfruktulino, ankaŭ inter viaj brutoj. 15Kaj la Eternulo forturnos de vi ĉian malsanon, kaj ĉiun malbonan epidemiaĵon de Egiptujo, kiun vi konas; Li ne metos ilin sur vin, sed Li metos ilin sur ĉiujn viajn malamantojn. 16Kaj vi konsumos ĉiujn popolojn, kiujn la Eternulo, via Dio, transdonas al vi; ne indulgu ilin via okulo, kaj vi ne servu al iliaj dioj, ĉar tio estus falilo por vi. 17Eble vi diros en via koro: Tiuj popoloj estas pli grandnombraj ol mi, kiel mi povos forpeli ilin? 18Ne timu ilin: memoru, kion faris la Eternulo, via Dio, al Faraono kaj al la tuta Egiptujo, 19la grandajn provojn, kiujn vidis viaj okuloj, kaj la signojn kaj la miraklojn kaj la fortan manon kaj la etenditan brakon, per kiuj elkondukis vin la Eternulo, via Dio; tiel la Eternulo, via Dio, faros al ĉiuj popoloj, kiujn vi timas. 20Kaj ankaŭ krabrojn sendos la Eternulo, via Dio, sur ilin, ĝis pereos la restintoj, kaj tiuj, kiuj kaŝiĝis antaŭ vi. 21Ne sentu teruron antaŭ ili, ĉar la Eternulo, via Dio, estas inter vi, la Dio granda kaj timinda. 22Kaj la Eternulo, via Dio, forpelos tiujn popolojn de antaŭ vi iom post iom; vi ne povas ekstermi ilin rapide, por ke ne multiĝu kontraŭ vi la sovaĝaj bestoj. 23Kaj la Eternulo, via Dio, transdonos ilin al vi, kaj Li tumultigos ilin antaŭ vi per granda tumulto, ĝis ili estos ekstermitaj. 24Kaj Li transdonos iliajn reĝojn en viajn manojn, kaj vi ekstermos ilian nomon el sub la ĉielo; neniu restos stare antaŭ vi, ĝis vi ekstermos ilin. 25La figurojn de iliaj dioj forbruligu per fajro; ne deziru preni al vi la arĝenton aŭ oron, kiu estas sur ili, por ke vi ne kaptiĝu per tio; ĉar tio estas abomenaĵo por la Eternulo, via Dio. 26Kaj ne enportu abomenaĵon en vian domon, por ke vi ne anatemiĝu kiel ĝi; malestimu kaj abomenu ĝin, ĉar ĝi estas anatemaĵo.

1When Yahweh your God brings you into the land where you go to possess it, and casts out many nations before you, the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than you; 2and when Yahweh your God delivers them up before you, and you strike them; then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them; 3neither shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to his son, nor shall you take his daughter for your son. 4For he will turn away your son from following me, that they may serve other gods. So Yahweh’s anger would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly. 5But you shall deal with them like this. You shall break down their altars, dash their pillars in pieces, and cut down their Asherah poles, and burn their engraved images with fire. 6For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God. Yahweh your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth. 7Yahweh didn’t set his love on you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples: 8but because Yahweh loves you, and because he desires to keep the oath which he swore to your fathers, Yahweh has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9Know therefore that Yahweh your God himself is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with them who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations, 10and repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack to him who hates him. He will repay him to his face. 11You shall therefore keep the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command you this day, to do them. 12It shall happen, because you listen to these ordinances, and keep and do them, that Yahweh your God will keep with you the covenant and the loving kindness which he swore to your fathers. 13He will love you, bless you, multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your livestock and the young of your flock, in the land which he swore to your fathers to give you. 14You shall be blessed above all peoples. There shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your livestock. 15Yahweh will take away from you all sickness; and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, will he put on you, but will lay them on all those who hate you. 16You shall consume all the peoples whom Yahweh your God shall deliver to you. Your eye shall not pity them: neither shall you serve their gods; for that would be a snare to you. 17If you shall say in your heart, “These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?” 18you shall not be afraid of them. You shall remember well what Yahweh your God did to Pharaoh, and to all Egypt; 19the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, by which Yahweh your God brought you out. So shall Yahweh your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. 20Moreover Yahweh your God will send the hornet among them, until those who are left, and hide themselves, perish from before you. 21You shall not be scared of them; for Yahweh your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God. 22Yahweh your God will cast out those nations before you little by little. You may not consume them at once, lest the animals of the field increase on you. 23But Yahweh your God will deliver them up before you, and will confuse them with a great confusion, until they are destroyed. 24He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you shall make their name perish from under the sky. No one will be able to stand before you, until you have destroyed them. 25You shall burn the engraved images of their gods with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourself, lest you be snared in it; for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God. 26You shall not bring an abomination into your house, and become a devoted thing like it. You shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.

1Wanneer u de HEERE, uw God, zal gebracht hebben in het land, waar gij naar toe gaat, om dat te erven; en Hij vele volken voor uw aangezicht zal hebben uitgeworpen, de Hethieten, en de Girgasieten, en de Amorieten, en de Kanaanieten, en de Ferezieten, en de Hevieten, en de Jebusieten, zeven volken, die meerder en machtiger zijn dan gij; 2En de HEERE, uw God, hen zal gegeven hebben voor uw aangezicht, dat gij ze slaat; zo zult gij hen ganselijk verbannen; gij zult geen verbond met hen maken, noch hun genadig zijn. 3Gij zult u ook met hen niet vermaagschappen; gij zult uw dochters niet geven aan hun zonen, en hun dochters niet nemen voor uw zonen. 4Want zij zouden uw zonen van Mij doen afwijken, dat zij andere goden zouden dienen; en de toorn des HEEREN zou tegen ulieden ontsteken, en u haast verdelgen. 5Maar alzo zult gij hun doen: hun altaren zult gij afwerpen, en hun opgerichte beelden verbreken, en hun bossen zult gij afhouwen, en hun gesnedene beelden met vuur verbranden. 6Want gij zijt een heilig volk den HEERE, uw God; u heeft de HEERE, uw God, verkoren, dat gij Hem tot een volk des eigendoms zoudt zijn uit alle volken, die op den aardbodem zijn. 7De HEERE heeft geen lust tot u gehad, noch u verkoren, om uw veelheid boven alle andere volken; want gij waart het weinigste van alle volken. 8Maar omdat de HEERE ulieden liefhad, en opdat Hij hield den eed, dien Hij uw vaderen gezworen had, heeft u de HEERE met een sterke hand uitgevoerd, en heeft u verlost uit het diensthuis, uit de hand van Farao, koning van Egypte. 9Gij zult dan weten, dat de HEERE, uw God, die God is, die getrouwe God, welke het verbond en de weldadigheid houdt dien, die Hem liefhebben, en Zijn geboden houden tot in duizend geslachten. 10En Hij vergeldt een ieder van hen, die Hem haten, in zijn aangezicht, om hem te verderven; Hij zal het Zijn hater niet vertrekken, in zijn aangezicht zal Hij het hem vergelden. 11Houdt dan de geboden, en de inzettingen, en de rechten, die ik u heden gebiede, om die te doen. 12Zo zal het geschieden, omdat gij deze rechten zult horen, en houden, en dezelve doen, dat de HEERE, uw God, u het verbond en de weldadigheid zal houden, die Hij uw vaderen gezworen heeft; 13En Hij zal u liefhebben, en zal u zegenen, en u doen vermenigvuldigen; en Hij zal zegenen de vrucht uws buiks, en de vrucht uws lands, uw koren, en uw most, en uw olie, de voortzetting uwer koeien, en de kudden van uw klein vee, in het land, dat Hij aan uw vaderen gezworen heeft u te geven. 14Gezegend zult gij zijn boven alle volken; er zal onder u noch man noch vrouw onvruchtbaar zijn, ook niet onder uw beesten; 15En de HEERE zal alle krankheid van u afweren, en Hij zal u geen van de kwade ziekten der Egyptenaren, die gij kent, opleggen, maar zal ze leggen op allen, die u haten. 16Gij zult dan al die volken verteren, die de HEERE, uw God, u geven zal; uw oog zal hen niet verschonen, en gij zult hun goden niet dienen; want dat zoude u een strik zijn. 17Zo gij in uw hart zeidet: Deze volken zijn meerder dan ik; hoe zou ik hen uit de bezitting kunnen verdrijven? 18Vreest niet voor hen; gedenkt steeds, wat de HEERE, uw God, aan Farao en aan alle Egyptenaren gedaan heeft; 19De grote verzoekingen, die uw ogen gezien hebben, en de tekenen, en de wonderen, en de sterke hand, en den uitgestrekten arm, door welken u de HEERE uw God, heeft uitgevoerd; alzo zal de HEERE, uw God, doen aan alle volken, voor welker aangezicht gij vreest. 20Daartoe zal de HEERE, uw God, ook horzelen onder hen zenden; totdat zij omkomen, die overgebleven, en voor uw aangezicht verborgen zijn. 21Ontzet u niet voor hunlieder aangezicht; want de HEERE, uw God, is in het midden van u, een groot en vreselijk God. 22En de HEERE, uw God, zal deze volken voor uw aangezicht allengskens uitwerpen; haastelijk zult gij hen niet mogen te niet doen, opdat het wild des velds niet tegen u vermenigvuldige. 23En de HEERE zal hen geven voor uw aangezicht, en Hij zal hen verschrikken met grote verschrikking, totdat zij verdelgd worden. 24Ook zal Hij hun koningen in uw hand geven, dat gij hun naam van onder den hemel te niet doet; geen man zal voor uw aangezicht bestaan, totdat gij hen zult hebben verdelgd. 25De gesneden beelden van hun goden zult gij met vuur verbranden; het zilver en goud, dat daaraan is, zult gij niet begeren, noch voor u nemen, opdat gij daardoor niet verstrikt wordt; want dat is den HEERE, uw God, een gruwel. 26Gij zult dan den gruwel in uw huis niet brengen, dat gij een ban zoudt worden, gelijk datzelve is; gij zult het ganselijk verfoeien, en te enenmaal een gruwel daarvan hebben, want het is een ban.
